@@ItzFoust The break riff on Fallen Hero is one of the best of all time. You can really hear that modulated classical style that he credits Mustaine for.
Was one of my favorite bands back in the day. Went to all their shows. Met them at the bar after one of their shows and sad to say they were complete douche bags. And I’m not a super fan of anyone just said great show loved their older stuff and they looked at me like I had some nerve being alive and talking lololol it’s funny now but at the time I was blown away. They were still very underground ish and my friend and I asked about a song and they were insulted “we’lol never play that song again” like ok fuck me for listening to YOUR music?!?!?!

Awesome ass guy. Before Bad Wolves really got that big, he was in New Jersey and gave me bass lessons while my usual instructor was on tour and gave me a signed God Forbid pick. Fuckin legend
Got to meet Doc and Dallas at a show after they opened for Children of Bodom at the Riveria in Lawrence, KS back in 2004ish. Super cool dudes, took a few minutes to talk about guitar to a 15 year old kid. I'll never forget it!
I'm not huge into Bad Wolves, but this guy kicks ass. And I think his band can help a lot of people that aren't into metal find their way into some heavier stuff. Based on the comments section I seriously need to check out his old band God Forbid.
I met doc (and Matt) in oswego back on the trespass america , I had been a God forbid fan for ever and meeting doc was awesome.. such a great guy and so down to earth . Even got a cool lesson from him and Matt and he let me jam on his jackson soloist ..
Shame god forbid disbanded. I think if they stuck around just a bit longer they would have got the recognition they deserve. Was playing to the fallen hero just yesterday.
I never heard this band / have heard God Forbids..but his influences were and are a lot like mine.. From Nirvana to Pantera .. And I love alternate picking...
Well played bro, and Disobey is one of my favorite albums ever, its heavy and grooves like "far beyond driven" also shedding skin has always been my fav song by Pantera and you nailed it!

Fun fact the riff for come as you are is just the riff from "The Eighties" by Killing Joke, they went to court over it, and then later Dave Grohl ended up playing drums on a whole Killing Joke album.
I could tell that Dimebag had an influence on you because of Bad Friend's use of that foot pedal Dime also used. (Can't recall the name, but also that brown Dean ML Dime also had on the wall behind him. Either way, Doc's work is the main reason I love Bad Wolves' music. Thanks.
It's so sad that Doc (who is fantastic guitar player and songwriter) is in Bad Wolves right now. God Forbid was the band for the ages - incredible sense of melody, power and technicality. Bad Wolves is ok, but just a mediocre radio-friendly rock, no offense.
They were my favorite band but after gone for ever they really dropped off. They have some really shit albums after that. You can tell they were just trying to “make it” essentially. They even took a shot a djent before they called it quits and it didn’t come out well.
@@ryand4533 that is not entirely accurate. Sure, Gone Forever is my favorite as a whole, but Constitution of Treason is amazing, too, with tracks like End of the World, Chains of Humanity, Into the Wasteland, Divinity.
@@Metalguy86 and i really love Earthsblood - killer hooks (Rain, War Of Attrition, Walk Alone, Empire Of The Gun) mixed with interesting Opeth-esque vibes like title track or New Clear. That was something.
I liked their first album, it was djenty and groovy, but still radio-friendly enough. The opening riff to Jesus Slaves is absolutely FILTHY. But yeah, they’re definitely going a little more radio-friendly now. I wish they’d return to their older sound, especially now that they’ve got DL Laskiewicz in the group
I saw God Forbid years ago with Shadows Fall. I remember talking with Byron about booking. It was the first time I met Doc. He was wearing a Thundercats shirt. One of my favorite cartoons and that was the conversation starter. Didn’t know he was in Bad Wolves though. Not really my kind of music so I hasn’t given them much of a listen. Megadeth was also one of my influences. Great band.

Yeah my local hard rock station basically loops them. They’re another radio friendly modern metal “all edge no point” style band for basic Karens/Kens who most likely really enjoy Nickelback.

Gone Forever is still my favorite album. The guitar tone is killer
Agreed.
"determination" had a sick guitar tone (and production) too.
