He used to be roommates with Paul Gilbert as a young guy after graduating as guitar teacher and play in his band at times and in some Van Halen cover bands.
3 months ago this was the first Satchel/Steel Panther video I ever watched and I instantly fell in love with them. 3 months later I downloaded almost all of their songs, went to both of their online concerts, am going to their second concert after lockdown in 9 days, and bought a Satchel signature Charvel guitar.
I love how he can't remember the solo he wrote and has to re-learn it before performing it live. Thank God, I thought it was just me. It seems like my brain is a 15 MB hard drive and I can only memorize about 6 solos before I have to delete one to learn another.
Shane I was pretty much the same until the scale patterns started finally sticking in my brain.
Pretty sure for him it’s from all the drugs and Alcohol.

this band should make a movie. they are hilarious. it could be about a band stuck in the 80's trying to make it in todays world. the whole concept is gold very good musicians too boot. but they could make it to some top 100's if nextflix gave em a movie. dirt definitely revamped motley crue even going back on tour out of retirement because the new popularity.

Yep, Smoke On The Water did it for me too. Hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Never forget it. Music became my life, learned how to play piano, then guitar by ear then became a film composer in my late 20’s and I’m 60 and still love it!

@Ross Moriarty yea I've seen lots of people mentioning zep and sabbath as the founder of heavy metal but most of the time they either intentionally or unintentionally exclude deep purple, any noteworthy musician that was in the rock always credit blackmore as one of their biggest influences, Steve Lukather, Phil Collen, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers (he's the most blackmore out of the 3 axe maiden), vocal wise Bruce Dickinson credit Gillan as his biggest influence and hero, also Jon Lord literally revolutionized rock and roll organ playing, Rick Wakeman said Jon was one of his influence too even when they're in the same generation, it's the pop culture perception of smoke on the water, the guitar tuber meme of 0-3-5, people outside of the 70s-80s era will think Deep Purple as a one hit wonder because of it
