The B pillar doesn't go straight down but curves severely towards the back as it meets the floor. I have big feet and had a hard time getting my foot to clear that without my heel jamming into the seat. Bad design making the backseat difficult to get into for full size adults. No wonder they made the doors open 90 degrees. It would be almost impossible to get in otherwise. 4) Looks. I'm one of the people who thought it looked great in pics and was sold on it. But now I think it looks like crap in person. Except the bed of the truck and tailgate which are great. The external little stainless trim pieces that arch over the door windows are tinny and ugly. How in the F is anyone supposed to be able to wash the inside of that front window down to where it meets the dash? How can you reach it? It's spacious in the front but the seats are the same size as my model Y. I would expect them to be bigger for big, working men. Those men will be uncomfortable. Ridiculous. My advice is to reduce the center console storage and get bigger seats.

yep, all they need to do is go back to the original pricing strategy. they delivered something that had nowhere near the original range and it ended up costing 40% more. the reality is the used market is going to do its thing and bring these prices way down. tesla built a cutting edge, modern factory dedicated to the cybertruck, with time and efficiency the cost of producing these will drop dramatically and crush the competition. i'd be super concerned if i was ford/chevy/gmc. today they are laughing at tesla, but elon plays the long game and likely already knows how much costs will drop 5 years out. by then they will have resolved range and even build starlink directly into the chassis.

I think they could cut cost and really make an entire group of people happier by making it a midsize truck as well. I think it would look cool to see a tougher smaller version like you would a Toyota Tacoma.
@@josephbradford5930 LOL, yeah I was a little confused with that comment starting.....till you wrapped it up, then it made sense. Yeah, no one today wants that. That's the future, very likely. I do like the image you said though, thinking about the old days. Just load it down with square balls of hay, hehehe.
They could drop the 4 wheel steer and the air suspension stuff to simplify the truck and cut the cost. More of a "work truck" trim. It should be easy to cut cost to make this appeal to more people on price.
I dont get all the nasty and negative comments on anything that says cybertruck. Its pitiful when people that are so unhappy with life and themselves want to spread that to others. Sorry but that tactic never works. My brain can't wrap around the need to hate on something that you literally don't pay for, or drive.. I am just unable to make sense of it.
The people that hate it are deeply, deeply threatened by such an unconventional approach to truck ownership. Almost like they think that some government inder/commissary will come around with a truck transporter to confiscate their 1978 Ford F-550 crew cab and issue a slow, 50-mile range golf cart that they have to obtain permission to drive to the grocery store with.
@@warbuzzard7167 And that is to bad they think that way. Its like hating someone for the clothes they wear, the food they eat, their friends, their wife or girlfriend. It says alot about them and none of good.
It's liberals. They have been so brainwashed by the coordinated and corrupt media, they just do whatever they are told like little stupid sheep. And they have been told to hate anything Elon.
I ordered during the event while Elon was still talking. I received a Foundation Series invite in early December. I pull a trailer about 75-80% of my mileage. I will decline until the 500 mile truck comes out -- and I will not accept the loss of bed space and price increase for a range extender! Single issue that is non-negotiable.
First 30min reservation holder here and this is my issue with cybertruck's current offerings as well! Inflation is one thing, but not remotely coming close on the specs for range is a non-starter for what I intended to use the truck for; towing and back country galavanting. Hope they get there eventually
Suspension components from air to coil spring system but keep the rear air spring or minimal for towing leveling. Have an option to add that as a service profit and add extra valuation at the service level. Wade mode doesn’t need to exist on lower price variant. Cloath seat but ventilated seat needs to stay. Mid gate. Actually I think the Cybertruck needs a second Cybertruck that is longer too. For example 2,500 lbs payload to 3,500 +++ payload and longer bed and fifth wheel ready with that additional battery pack towing. I call Cybertruck Fever( SpaceX)…. Or something.
I ended up canceling 3 reservations. Initially I had reserved 1 tri-motor and 2 RWD models. The 2 RWD models were just in case they solved FSD by then and they kept the $39.9k price. At that price, it would have been an insanely profitable endeavor. Now, I will likely still get one at some point, but would rather hold off for a few more years and pick one up for far less as a few years old used model.
I bought a model Y. I needed a car before it was ready. I still have my reservation but I can't buy it anymore. I like my Y but would really have liked to have a CT.
Most of your ideas for cost reduction are spot on, except for the door steel. Its minimal cost and replacing with thinner steel would require re-engineering with the addition of side impact beams. Also more crash verification. Not much payoff there. Demand will increase as more folks become accustomed to it and there’s less social pressure against it. As a CT owner I can attest that it is a very capable vehicle and the only real drawback is the amount of hate it gets. It is a real and palpable thing that can’t be discounted when folks shop for cars. The truck market, in particular, can be very tribal.
Not sure about the low end model, 60K seems possible with one motor and a smaller lower cost chemistry battery pack. If the tri motor Cybertruck comes down in price enough to qualify for the tax incentive I'd consider trading my X in on one.
like corolla, if they sell millions per year, they are ok to have less margin and the volume makes up the total profit. Simple economy of scale. Not just CT, any manufactured goods are using same principle. The billion dollars question is, how many can they sell Y to Y. It has to be consistent.
Excellent points, Drew. The suggestions you made would reduce cost, weight, and complexity along with the number of things to break. A manual tonneau cover and midgate would be a substantial improvement to practicality.
Won’t even consider it till 50k or less with 300 miles. Also the recant scout point of sale with an option of a range extender is great. Mainly in disaster zones like I’m in. On average 2-7 black outs and 1-3 major storms. Yes tesla can do 240 but not recharge unless having a dedicated system.
I think they’ll initially deliver the single motor version at $69k, then, similar to the Model 3, Model Y, and other Teslas, they’ll adjust prices based on demand. Over time, we might see the dual motor average around $69k, the single motor at $59k, and the tri-motor at $80k within five years. I’d be surprised to see anything priced lower than this. I think only real cost saving comes from battery cost being lower in the future and scaling the production. i don't think they will remove suspension and any of the real specs of CT, manly due to tesla like to keep manufacturing basic.
The RWD doesn't need a smaller battery pack. Tesla could simply software limit the battery pack and offer a paid unlock. Plus the RWD will save money on tire replacements.
Honestly the original cybertruck rear-wheel drive was supposed to be a little bit over $40,000 if they can get it down to that actual original price and still remain profitable then this would sell like hotcakes. Now if they can do that and reduce the range to like let's say 280 mi or 260 me then I think people will be okay with that. And that will make the cybertruck extremely competitive in terms of pricing with its competitors and the supercharging network infrastructure. That being said another great video bro keep up the great work and have a good one I'll catch you on the next one.
@@TailosiveEV that is very true but it would be nice if they hit the actual price that they talked about when they were originally talking about launching the truck and that would make them the definitive option without a shadow of a doubt if they could hit that price. I'm sure they'll make it happen in time Tesla has a way of doing things. I think I saw in another video that by time 2030 rolls around 60% of the vehicles on the road are going to be all electric and you best believe Tesla will own a high percent of that 60% of electric vehicles on the road in 2030
I am still on the list, waiting for the RWD. I do not need a 80K AWD truck. Tesla delivered 5,175 Cybertrucks in July, compared to a combined 5,546 registrations of every non-Tesla electric truck, which includes the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, Chevy Silverado EV, and Hummer EV. The Cybertruck accounted for nearly half of all sales in the segment, blowing its competition out of the water as Tesla races to ramp production and fill waiting orders. All other EV pickup truck sales from companies like Ford, Rivian, and GM combined totaled 5,546, according to S&P.
Easy answer. 59,990. (Beats f150 current price and the technological value completely destroys the competition) - needs to be closer to 300 mile range.
If Tesla follows past marketing practice (eventually) the cost of the Cybertruck will decrease in order to entice more sales. But, there will likely be some downgrading from the current configuration. I'd love to see Tesla upgrade the interior to better align with the MX and MS but that is a pipe dream. Self presenting/closing doors would be most welcome as I am a disabled veteran and have some mobility issues. Closing the car door is not impossible but can be very difficult for me.
@@warbuzzard7167 Nothing, but the point is Aptera is already behind, their pricing will be higher than inventory model Y prices at this point. It's looking niche...
You could save a tonne of money by doing a version that has no tonneau cover and is not a pickup. Just take the roof and extend it back, and put opening doors on the back like a transit van. Ideal for camping, headroom to 'live' in, vastly more storage than any pickup can manage, better for pets and for businesses and much less complex to build. Stripping out luxuries is an obvious option as well. Who cares about the dashboard material? Reviewers are constantly stroking that stuff and saying it feels bad. Stop stroking your car, that's a weird thing to do. You should care if the seat material chafes you even through jeans, or is hard to keep clean. You should care if they used piano black anywhere because we banned that under the Geneva Conventions (didn't we? Why not!). You should not care if the plastic is cool looking or not. A better thing to care about is if there's void behind what you can see, and if there is, why is that not storage you can access? Yes, dropping the cost of the steel seems like a no brainer. It always crack me up that people think they couldn't make a sub $25K vehicle easily. Yeah... just strip out every luxury you can, and job done. Do I need heated seats? Well... probably not in a good chunk of the world. Do I need unnecessary range? Definitely not. I don't really even need maximum bladder range if we're being honest. Do I need 2-4 extra seats? Well.. no, actually a one seater enclosed vehicle with more storage space would be much more useful to me than even a 2 seater, but I'd happily take a 2 seater that isn't as pointlessly big as the Cybercab. Why does it need so much boot space? Because I've not heard of one bag travel and am enjoying the hellscape that is extra time in the airport?
I still have my preorder. The problem is i have the single motor and they are prioritizing the higher spec higher profit trims. Of course they aren’t going to give me my preorder at a huge loss. So yes, the preorder book is still real
The air suspension and the rolling tonneau cover for 15K less would be an awesome deal imo 🤔. An option for a non tonneau cover CT for a mid-gate/retractable rear glass version may sell very well. The tow hitch should also be optional (the deletion of which would make that rear bumper overhang smaller w/more ground clearance). Camping in the bed of the CT (with that cyber tent no less) is a no-go for me. There is no comfortable way to sleep 2 people inside the CT right now. I have Model Y LR set up with a Lost Horizon mattress (sleeps 2 inside the car w/climate and entertainment), and an Acopower sub trunk fridge. Tesla also needs to option in a front bench seat, and fold flat (forward or rearward) front seats 🤔. At this point consumers have seen the relative ease with which Tesla implements changes/modifications to their lineup, and are likely waiting (present company included) until then to purchase. If Tesla can bring it down to 74,990 (plus the 7,500 credit), final price of 67,490, they that will definitely be very attractive to consumers.
The whole point of the cybertruck design was to make the truck utilitarian and cheap! when it arrived it had less range and cost an extortionate amount. i'm all in on the truck when it hits $40k and gets 350 miles. The cybertruck simply has to get back to its original pricing strategy that made it so popular.
All of the above, plus a newer “cybercell” with lower COGS and longer range. If that happens, the truck would become more than an expensive flex machine.
If Tesla managed to deliver the Cybertruck for $40K, they would not be able to build enough to satisfy the huge demand. The pickup truck market is HUGE, and Ford, Chevy, and Dodge sell a ton of basic gas powered trucks where drivers don't need towing, super long daily range, rear wheel steering, etc.. I do think that the Cybertruck will come down to the $60K price point within a year, and I think that demand will rise a great deal when that happens. Of course their competition is a moving target as well, with the Ford F150 Lightning and EV Silverado dropping in price as well. Plus the bigger market is always gas and diesel powered pickups, and getting the Cybertruck's down to under $60K (which is under the average price of all pickups in the U.S.) will help drive Cybertruck sales. I do like the mid-gate idea, and I agree that Tesla should concentrate on building a cheaper base Cybertruck to drive sales.
@@ericgregori Eric, spot on. You are literally paying 1/4 more for a car today as opposed to when the CT was unveiled. The $40K rear wheel drive model they talked about would be $50K... The $69K version (high end), would be $86K... Basically it's 'cheaper' than expected for the high end version...(we had no cyber beast, just a top end version).
Realistically if they can produce a $49K base model truck, that would be the sweet spot. The economy is not that great and the car market is even worse.
Designing a cheaper suspension system and reworking many of the design elements is your idea for Tesla to reduce cost…You clearly don’t understand manufacturing!😂 Reducing production cost is more about reducing variants between models and producing at scale. Reengineering is a cost and increasing changes in the line will not save Tesla money…
I have a reservation from the Cybertruck announcement event. When they make one that matches the range they promised and in the vicinity of the price they promised I’ll get one.
Now that think about it my purchased 2024 Model 3 Performance was 10% less than my leased 2019’s sale price. Sooo Tesla can do the same with the Cybertruck. I’m patient. If not maybe Scout or Rivian gets my money.
Prices everywhere are wild. I went to 3 different dealerships today to look at trucks. I saw more trucks in the 95-100k range than I did in the 50-60k range.
I’m waiting it to get to 40-60k for the dual motor. I still have 5-6 years to pay off my model Y so plenty of time to get there. I hope also the 7500 tax credit comes into effect as well.
If I could/would buy one, I'd wait a few years for them to work out the worst kinks, and I'd want 500mi range real world, and drop the price another $20k below the non-foundation series. What I really want is a Cybervan (pronounced "sigh BERR vn"?).
I got into Tesla in 2019 after the Cybertruck reveal and bought a reservation on Jan 31st 2019. Back then it was all about busting mainstream media FUD that was easy for the Tesla community to debunk. Elon haters in 2020 seemed to have chips on their shoulders. But when I look at the simplicity & form factor of that Telo truck, vs the overprice, overweight, under-spec disaster of Cybertruck, I really do see how Elon's ego gets in the way of practical, affordable EV. I want to see that Telo reach production and I will get one instead of Cybertruck Inshallah.
260 miles range would equal 200 in real world application 😢 it will be useless 😒. I would rather wait till 2030 when they make the long range around 65k or 70k. I would pay that for sure.
@@lucristianx my plan was to do a long road trip in it and yes the range of 500+ miles was a big part of my decision to buy one. that and the claim that it would forge a river believe it or not. still planning the trip but it isn't at all what it was to be.
@@darylfortney8081 I figure they did something different with this truck than other Teslas or BEV trucks. But no it’s simply a missed target. I saw someone suggest they would have to make this truck lighter which I would be all in favor for.

I’ll be first in line. I’m against stripping features. Better to have one part and make it in higher volume than 2 parts.

yep, all they need to do is go back to the original pricing strategy. they delivered something that had nowhere near the original range and it ended up costing 40% more. the reality is the used market is going to do its thing and bring these prices way down. tesla built a cutting edge, modern factory dedicated to the cybertruck, with time and efficiency the cost of producing these will drop dramatically and crush the competition. i'd be super concerned if i was ford/chevy/gmc. today they are laughing at tesla, but elon plays the long game and likely already knows how much costs will drop 5 years out. by then they will have resolved range and even build starlink directly into the chassis.
Supply and demand justifies the price. Why sell for $40k when people will buy for $100k?
i was interested when it was 40k, its crazy now
I’m willing to order when
1. It qualifies for tax credit
2. Has a finance rate like the model y/3
3. Get a 400miles range (without any bs range extender)
4. Must be at least on production year 3
@@nunohannover I hear a lot of people say they won’t buy it unless it qualifies for the tax credit. Kinda makes you wonder what will happen to ev sales if agent orange is elected and it gets rid of the Tax credit
They'll be on production year 3 in just over two months.
I agree with the points 1 and 2. 3 I don’t care about
I have a Model 3 with 270 mi range and slow LFP charge rate. I travel like crazy, 30k mi/yr. I would NOT upgrade. In real world it is not a problem at all. Zero.
I think they could cut cost and really make an entire group of people happier by making it a midsize truck as well. I think it would look cool to see a tougher smaller version like you would a Toyota Tacoma.
Give me a short cab and long bed. Single motor, big LFP battery. Old school futurism.
@@josephbradford5930 LOL, yeah I was a little confused with that comment starting.....till you wrapped it up, then it made sense. Yeah, no one today wants that. More 2 (maybe even 3 row) with short bed is the direction today. Shoot, the short bed could even be shorter, if it extends with a button. Soon, it will be SUVs, with some kind of extension. That's the future, very likely. I do like the image you said though, thinking about the old days. Just load it down with square balls of hay, hehehe.
Door skins are thicker so they dont need to put side impact beams in them.
removing features complicates production, so the real way to bring the cost down is to make them more efficiently, particularly with the batteries.
Thicker doors also safer for side collisions
This, they need the thicker steel since they don't have crash bars in the doors.
Doors are thicker for side impact protection…not to make them bullet proof…that is just a plus
The AWD at $80k isn’t what was promised before.. the original was 3 motor, at $69k and 2 motor at $49k. Still a far shot away
Definitely needs an LFP battery pack…
Making a truck with less range would be a bad idea.
I have a Model 3 with 270 mi range. I travel endlessly, 30k mi/yr. No problem at all. I would buy it above other options.
250 mile range is totally doable
still have my reservation on hold but yeah the telo trucks look very appealing
They can easily get rid of:
- rear wheel steering
- air suspension
Touching the range is insane.
Rear wheel steering is an absolute game changer with cybertruck. After living with it for 3 months i never want to have a vehicle without it
@@matthewp1682 I agree with rws being nice, BUT I don't my Tesla to have any more complexity or points of failure. I hate Tesla service so much.
Yes! Tesla needs to route the HVAC to the bed for more ideal car camping🎉🎉🎉
I've seen a product that routes an air hose from the side window to wherever you want climate control. Probably a fairly simple DIY.
like corolla, if they sell millions per year, they are ok to have less margin and the volume makes up the total profit.
YES. get rid of the tonneau cover and replace it with a hinged and removable cap. add the midgate and support HVAC to bed.
A $60k truck that is only 2wd, only tows 7500 lb, and gets less than 200 miles real world highway range doesn't sound like it will be a big seller.
Most people who care about it being able to be a truck will either buy a different truck, or not be deterred by the current pricing
it won't sell for people shopping for a truck. Doesn't mean it won't be a big seller.
Rivian and Ford both make better trucks. I don't know about rivian but Ford is definitely going to do what's necessary to compete with the cybertruck
Wait for the Scout vehicles! They will have a hybrid version when they come out in 2027!!
You send the stainless steel on the doors, you have to add anti-intrusion crossbars. You wouldn't really save much on weight.
Finally, someone do a video on possible cutback for the RWD actually being $60K
The refreshed model 3 drives much better than the model s and x
Honestly the original cybertruck rear-wheel drive was supposed to be a little bit over $40,000 if they can get it down to that actual original price and still remain profitable then this would sell like hotcakes. Now if they can do that and reduce the range to like let's say 280 mi or 260 me then I think people will be okay with that. And that will make the cybertruck extremely competitive in terms of pricing with its competitors and the supercharging network infrastructure. That being said another great video bro keep up the great work and have a good one I'll catch you on the next one.
Cybertruck was already outselling all other electric trucks combined with the foundation series. They’re coming for the gas truck market now
@@TailosiveEV that is very true but it would be nice if they hit the actual price that they talked about when they were originally talking about launching the truck and that would make them the definitive option without a shadow of a doubt if they could hit that price. I'm sure they'll make it happen in time Tesla has a way of doing things. I think I saw in another video that by time 2030 rolls around 60% of the vehicles on the road are going to be all electric and you best believe Tesla will own a high percent of that 60% of electric vehicles on the road in 2030

The current truck only gets 250 miles real world on the highway. Nobody wants it reduced more.
Bullshit. The Lightning alone was over 7k last quarter. YTD, the Cybertruck is not far ahead of the Lightning.
Easy answer. 59,990. (Beats f150 current price and the technological value completely destroys the competition) - needs to be closer to 300 mile range.
Also would love to see a smaller truck (Tacoma / ranger size) - even if it just a smaller cyber truck, hands down buy
Yeah, full size trucks are bigger and heavier than I prefer.
Aptera needs to hurry up
What does a weird tricycle dormitory have to do with a Cybertruck?
Oh, we need ventilated seats.
Demand hasn't dwindled, I still want it more than ever but just can't afford it with the other two vehicle notes that I have
I’m still keeping my Cybertruck reservation just in case but I’m way more excited by the new Scout vehicles. Reserved a pure electric Traveler!
You will be waiting for the Scout until the end of the next presidential administration.

Imagine investing per month what people are paying to the banks. 100k invested into actual Tesla stock..enough to buy the roadster lol
I pre-ordered but I didn't preorder for 100k it was 55k 🤷🏼♂️ at 500 mile range eventually I'll get one when they are reasonable
Price would be ok if they met the 500 mile range as originally advertised. You can't tow anything very far.
Wow Tesla has built over 2,000,000 of them in less than a year. Wow. Amazing.

I got into Tesla in 2019 after the Cybertruck reveal and bought a reservation on Jan 31st 2019. Back then it was all about busting mainstream media FUD that was easy for the Tesla community to debunk. Elon haters in 2020 seemed to have chips on their shoulders.
