- My buddy from Indiana sent Mo the first pair of new shoes he's had in over four years. I was blown away by how excited he was to put on a new pair of shoes and socks. Get more Mo over here on my blog: ryanhupfer.com.
If you'd like to help get Mo back on his feet let me know. He's an awesome guy who just needs a little bit of help.
What's your point? What you've just shown is the mentality of a person who is lazy and looks for problems instead of solutions. If you don't have a fucking address - you get one. The next question is how if you can't afford one. Not sure how it is in USA, but here up north there are both private and public services that will hook you up with an address you can give employers for mail/paycheques. (Not a PO Box, no idea if that will work.)
Instead of just feeding these people, let's educate them?
I feel sad for him now. He got new shoes! But those are not the shoes he NEEDED. :( Those are runners, a homeless man with no income need some thing VERY reliable and stable and strong. Like a pair of steel-cap boots. Something with good thick sole and ebove ankle enclosure. Something VERY reliable and long lasting, Defiantly warm inner lining and water-proof.
The shoes he got, are sports shoes for running they wont last, and they will leak heat and absorb moisture.
This is great and everything but i really think 2 pairs of shoes were one of the worst things you could have given him. Here are my reasons why. His shoes were only 5 months old. I've had pairs of shoes that were 2 years+ old that had holes on the sides and bottom and even used them for P.E. class and anything else. I may not be in the same situation but i know old shoes. Second, he wont be walking much... i would have tried something else. Maybe even trying to get him to take a class or job.
Maybe you're right mate, maybe he isn't the stand up man we wish he were. But maybe he's just having a rough go and could use a random act of kindness to get him headed in the right direction. Worst case scenario somebody going through a difficult time just got a bit more comfortable thanks to two brand new pairs of shoes donated by a decent human being with a good heart. That doesn't seem to be too bad of an outcome if you ask me.
That is easy. but a mailbox is not a home. Do you know why veterans are the most successful at being homeless? They are used to small rations, trekking long distances and carry heavy weight. what these people need is a secure place to stay and work like anyone else. as for services. We don't ahve it all together in that department. Believe me I wish we did.
Because there's no way to clean yourself up and get a free pair of clean shorts and a shirt? Come on.. you can manage to get a job at a place like mcdonalds or something for a little while..
Not everyone likes helping out people like Mo and you have to be careful when you get into a relationship like this. It's messy and you're going to get to a point to where you're going to be disappointed, feel taken advantage of or just don't think you can help/give anymore but at that point you just have to trust in what you're doing and not worry about it
Mo's awesome and relationships always go both ways, even if I'm the one hooking him up with shoes.
Wow, tell me what you really think. :)
I actually know Mo pretty well. We've hung out a lot over the past couple months and we've become friends even though we still live in two completely different worlds. Yeah, I might be doing most of the lifting right now, but he's getting back on his feet and once he does he'll do the same thing and help someone else who's in need.
I'm not looking to support him my whole life, but I'm more than happy to hang with him and help him figure out some stuff.
That's an ankle monitor -- he's on probation right now (and has been for the past few years). It's basically a GPS device that keeps track of where he is at all times. He always has to keep it charged, which is why I can almost always guarantee to see him around the power outlets in and around the train station.
He gives him a toy to play with. He gives the black man a toy to play with. "Ohh look at how happy he is. Look at his reaction".
The blackman is given a toy. The black man will be like, more.. more..
and continue his act.
That's great for Moe, He won't be walking to far with that ankle bracelet on. But still grateful...
its crazy how they put a ankle monitor on homeless people, and restrict them to certain areas.
Stop making fun its awesome and sad imagine if u were homeless how'd u react if u got new shoes
They would out last the runners, be water proof for when it rains, i think they would have been a better choice
It's not like that in USA. There is no "just getting an address" it doesn't work that way.
Take him to health club for shower etc. and clean clothing! he needs a studio apartment!
i bet you feel a lot better about yourself filming the plights of those lesser than you
thats rich... the authorities wanting a homeless man to keep his ankle bracelet charged. =_=';;
I gotta love the 'fluffy-sockgasm'. I hope he has boots for when it is wet.
yeah, I didn't know that there were two pairs in there...that was a nice surprise.
OH LAWD GOD DAMN OH GOD DAMN I DON'T BELIEVE IT BRAND NEW . Good for mo!
stop giving the homeless handouts. you're perpetuating their condition
I just read the rest of the story...Very nice of you!
I would give millon dollars for that guy to live better
Yeah, you're right -- he's got to stay around the Bay Area.
I guess we have an actual Good Guy Greg on our hands!
My god, there's nothing like helping someone in need.
@Portalzwins Yeah yeah yeah.. Bla bla bla.. Whatevs
me too! (thank you reddit for showing me this!)
why is he on probation? What crime did he commit?
Does he still have either pair? Just wondering
why is he wearing the new socks over his olds?
I couldn't help but smile at this. Great job!
Why no buy him a pair of boots rather than runners
socks on socks!!!! this guy knows whats up!
few years on probation? how much longer?
straight ballin' with those new shoes
I would also like to know this..
Hup. that must be a great feelin
Faith in RUclips commenters restored.
