Jeeeeeeezus. You all are...uh...adventurous. That said, if ever there's an apocolypse, Ben seems like he could figure out a way to get through it. Way to keep a cool head in a never-ending cascade of "oh sh*t" moments.

There’s a difference between having a cool head in “oh crap” moments and being too stupid to know just how close to disaster you really are. To those of us who wheel Moab regularly it’s clear Ben is not cool-headed.

@@jeeperp3926 Dude is a reckless and ignorant fool that IS going to get his family seriously hurt or killed one day on a trail. It's not "if" but "when." Well, an intersting video to say the least. I guess I take it for granted thinking that everyone should know that if you do Golden Spike you also are doing Gold Bar Rim. I asked Dan Mick (he's the one that found the Golden Spike route) if the waterfall on Gold Bar Rim had a name & he said "what, that speed bump?".
Just as a note if you would have had your passenger side tire next to or on those big rocks at the waterfall, you would have went straight up.
Also, it didn't look like you aired down your tires very much. That would help too.

    • @BenandBrandi
      @BenandBrandi  Год назад

He’s full of it! 41 degree incline is NOT a speed bump… we wheel all over the us and that’s not for the feint of heart. Our tire pressure was 12psi about the lowest I would go without having beadlocks. Thanks for watching!

But i would NEVER attempt either if those solo. Ever. Too much can go wrong.

    1. Wheeling by yourself.
    2. No map or GPS to follow.
    3. Driving without a seat belt.
    4. Didn’t ask any of the locals about the trail and the anticipated time to complete.
    5. Unprepared with extra food and water.
yep, you’re exactly why trails are being shut down and the locals are fed up. I don’t think it’s possible to by less prepared than you were.

Old habit of mine is to always take a 5 gallon jug of water besides our cups and 2 cold gallons inside just in case and have helped/saved many. I carried 3 gallons in a backpack in the Grand Canyon and by half way down so many were out we gave all but one gallon away and had to go back up. Worth it to save someone. We also bring food for 2-3 days on a half day trip wheelin. I haven't really 4wheeled in 28 years but my wife and I will be starting up again next December when she retires. Enjoy your video's as they show so much. The extra water was just in case for all. Your video's show me so much and make me remember how rough it can be so thank you so much for reminding me it isn't just fun and games as our minds remember.

While I have only taken "trails" a few times, I've driven in the middle of no where my entire life. I learned the hard way, ALWAYS pack food and water, lots of water.
I'd suggest getting on-x offroad and gaia and pour over info about trails before doing them. There is a reason they say never wheel alone and this is a good example. I'm sorry you had a rough day, and glad you made it through it to learn.

Very dumb idea to head out there alone and with no supplies. It could have ended worse. Stop putting your family in harms way. You had no clue where you were, no research, not prepared, etc. Good driving but do better.
Next time. Have a gps phone, spot device, food, water and consult numerous maps so you are clear. maybe even a bike in case someone has to reach town quickly. That was typcial Moab- she let's you in easily...too easily, but never out without a fight. Better yet, go during Easter Jeep Safari with expert, local guides and plenty of support on hand.

A now new subscriber after watching ! Great video 👍👍. The whole family is out just spending time with each other detached from the world and ready to conquer. The stress, little damage is all in a good days fun. Our family is the exact same...we don’t have a lot of friends who wheel or like adventure. So lots of times we are alone. We do it safely and take precautions to help in those situations. Our Jeep is built to the best we can at time. At the end of the day we always come out with a deeper appreciation for each other. Knowing as a family, a team there’s nothing that can stop us. Yes sometimes spots can get stressful, but the courage and confidence it builds in each of us is totally worth it. You’re family rocks man ! Y’all keep on doing what you’re doing and having fun making memories that will last forever.

It really isn't that bad, in fact, the Poison Spider/ Golden Spike/ Gold Bar Rim route is one of my favorites. I did it my first time in an 87 Jeep Cherokee with 31 inch tires and suffered no body damage, and never needed to winch. If you stay at a steady pace and aren't videoing everything you can do it in much less time than he did. But always make sure you have a cooler of ice water because it can get above 100 during the summer, and having a bag of snacks along just makes it nicer.

You’all should do a little more research on these trails before you decide to take them. That route is a full 8-9 hour day in a well built custom rig, let alone a stockish jeep. There is a lot of trails in Moab that I would do alone… but this isn’t one of them. Not because it’s difficult, but because if something goes wrong you are way out there stranded and walking out of there would be suicidal in extreme weather conditions. Not trying to pick on you, just worried that you’re making bad decisions to fulfill your goals. Stay safe out there, and good luck on your journey!

Putting your family at risk is another.
