Easy Jazz Ensemble - Grade 2
Popular again thanks to the recent recording by Michael Bublé, this hit was originally from the Broadway musical The Roar of the Greasepaint, The Smell of the Crowd. This bluesy arrangement requires no solos, but gives each section of the band a chance to be featured.

I understand why people are concerned about how bad the trumpets are, but in the description, it specifically says "Grade 2" It's not meant for aggressive trumpets lol.
Hannah Aiko thank you, finally someone who gets it. it’s still an amazing song, just make sure you look at the description before you criticise, people.
exactly they’re perfectly in blend
I think trumpets are cool
As a former trumpet player who is in year 2 of high school marching band we are playing this song this year and it is a good song but I hate my trumpet 1 part on this song
Rick was my jazz band leader. Pretty strange to see a song he arranged getting half a million views on RUclips. I was trying to look up his son who drums and found this.
GO RICK GO!
You 9 fingered animated smoking jacket!
He has sooo many popular arrangements, he is a very good arrangeur
We're playing this in Jazz this year, and I've gotten the permission to sing with it. Can't wait to do so.
i have to play the drums for it
I dont think we’re getting an update on this
@@goldenmike1813 Nope, 2020 happened lmfao
I'm feeling good after listening to this.
Unpopular opinion: mellowing out the trumpets doesn’t ruin the song but rather gives it a different feel, that works just as well.
This is such a cool song I'm a saxophone player and they sound very musical
Tj Mitchell and why the hell do you need to mention that your a saxophone player?
@@YakubianTrashboat .
Well duh ur a saxophone is a musical instrument so I should sound musical wtf!?
@@YakubianTrashboat why you so mad about it
@@james8616 bro I don’t even remember writing this💀
Bro I played this for jazz band in school and on god the trombone parts are the best
The first trombone part is so fun!!

1.5 More flowy
West Coast Classics honestly .75 speed gives sousaphones more justice. Mostly at 2:30

@nashwagemakers you still want that video?
@@duckington7 yes please
This song is song amazing.
I am going to play this at my school!!!!
Its so nice
This seems like a really easy piece for my school band I think this would be a fun enjoyable piece to play!
Why does everybody hate the trumpet part? I play drums and they aren't that exciting but they add this part that is vital. I do think that the trumpets could be louder but same mellow feeling.
damn this drum part is fun!!
just started playing this one
We played this my 8th grade year and we speed learnt it and so it was awful we stopped in the middle of it and I was my verry last middle school band concert so I cried after
3:13 is the best
This is cool 😎
Trombone player here. I can’t play as smooth as the audio and the concert is in a week. Rip…

@@YakubianTrashboat wow you're a jerk
Where's the screaming trumpets?
If you listen to the actual harmonies, if the section as a whole were to take it up when appropriate then it would work.
I agree, my favorite part of this song is how well it balances those huge screaming shouts with the vocals and huge bass parts
We don't scream we play!!!!!
@@blzzxr of you don't like screaming trumpets I don't think this genre is for you
grade 2 song dog
I play the baritone sax so this is good
Bari player too, I about orgasmed at the low A's I got to play. So good.
This is pretty lame for a bari sax jazz part. Bari sax is supposed to be way more involved in jazz. Not just echo of a tuba
We played this in jazz band and I got to play the trumpet solos
can you please get " The Wind Beneath My Wings" arranged by Jerry Nowak
I play this in my Jazz Band. Very fun. But all you can hear is the Trombones, we have about 10.
Excelentes arreglos. Estoy interesado en arreglos para big Band y voz tenor o messo soprano de baladas americanas. Me gustaría también obras por el estilo de mista, new york new York, my way.

When you have to tell them that you're fine, but you're not really fine.
Tom Eye The SFM guy shutup
@@d_gamer_gaby8419 no. Make me.
honestly, i think that 0:40 should have been louder. I think that it would have been more musical if it had a larger change in dynamics.
I love this song, but the trumpet part is extremely disappointing.
Nina Dodd but tuba and trombone make up for that and then some
Just take it up in appropriate places.
I would tell my trumpets to play an octave above
Yeah. They should've added a voice singer to make feel more comfortable.
It’s not disappointing at all, I play this part in my schools jazz band (he wanted a super easy song to play on the side” it’s quite fun to play and flows super well with the piece as a whole
Please please please make a marching version for this
Jason Childers we’re playing this in marching band lol
Why would you take this wonderful jazzy song and make it a marching band song?
@@aoxomoxoa1 sometimes you don't have to change the input to get the output, a lot of marching songs are still in swing and sound exactly the same as the jazz charts, you just need to be a Texas marching band to get through it.
I played this in 7th grade and I always screwed up at measure 44 for no reason but then on on my concert day I played it perfectly for also no reason
What instrument did you play?
Where are my T Saxes at

I watched this in 2017 and came back at 2019
MICHAEL BUBLÉ!!!!!!!!!!
Why is this not in 6/8
Expected more from trumpets but overall ok, kinda miss the screams from the trumpets, too mellow in the piece
Allen Tian then how about you put on a big show for all of us?
@@YakubianTrashboat *okay*
It’s made to be a mello piece In general, it could be taken up but only when necessary
Shout Out to Borel Middle School Jazz Ensemble students who are watching this video for homework for Papá Fraire
Let's all be real now, measure 5 and 6 are the absolute most sexy part that ligit mean Jazz
Came here thinking this was Feeling Good Inc
3:19
Why not 12/8?
No Baritones?
SethPlayz there are none in jazz band idiot
D_Gamer_Gaby don’t have to call me an idiot first of all. I’m just saying there’s no part for baritones
there usually isnt a baritone part in jazz bands, but the trombone part would most likely be the best part to read.
Every dislike is a disappointed trumpet. I’m a drummer could care less
I play this on the keyboard
NumberFourteen wow this will change my life forever
@@YakubianTrashboat yes it will.
Me tooooo
Same
Those 15 dislikes are accidental or computer glitches
(Offline design) let me guess you are one of the bass voices that got no spot light so you feel the trumpets are the problem that you didn’t get the attention that you expected?
I played this drums🙂🙂🙂
Good job!
;Semi Collin; I like the drums because you beat on a piece of twined leather and pretend everyone is focused on just you🙂
@@YakubianTrashboat Drums hold the band together
Great, but the bass was far too quiet at the begining :)
Is this copyrighted
Dark moon Blade yeah but just shorten it up a bit and take the trumpets up the octave and you'll be fine
I played the Bari sax part solo
At this point you are just complementing your self🤨
Nice!

Is it jusy me that I cant hear the flute part
I think its just you my dude
@Exyll Flutes has stuff to add sometimes you don't realise it but in certain times flutes have a great impact
sorry... flutes belong everywhere!!!
Flutes aren’t typically in Hazz bands but ya
But, like when's the last time you've ever heard of a "Jazz Flutist"
This is by Nina Simone for those wondering
2:38
for the love of god write it in 12/8.
Is this really only a grade 2? Feels like a 3 to me
A lot of comments come from people who wish the trumpets did the ‘screaming part’ but you also have to keep in mind that this is an arrangement for jazz band not a soloist trumpet. If there was an arrangement for solo trumpet they would have the screaming trumpet, but it’s about balance.
I would also like to add that this is the original feeling good by Nina Simone, that’s why there’s no screaming trumpets
.75 speed is dirty
bari sax
Came to see that middle Eb gliss to double C for trumpets written in. Really disappointed....
No French horns :(
i feel u man :((((
i play clarinet but there is no clarinet so i think i play with the trompet.
Carmelitta S: the clarinets play with trumpets. They share parts
Conflix_ thanks is it the first trompet?
Carmelitta S: I believe so. My band played this song and my friend plays the clarinet. He is 1st clarinet and he plays very similar parts to the 1st trumpets
Uhhh clarinet?... why are you playing jazz music
Drade because clarinet sounds great in some cases when it comes to jazz. Listen to rhapsody in blue and you’ll get what I’m saying.
Pro tip for bass trombonists: Just play the tuba part it's much better.
Edit: Why is there even a tuba part?
thanks.
Tenor trombone< bass trombone (defo not biased)
