Honestly, I've got poi at home, and this looks better... not sure why, maybe because she can adjust the weight, or maybe because the fabric she used flows better
if you want to wear this costume more often, I have a tip for your bending prop. you should replace your plastic ball with a tennis ball or something similar. just cut it in half (not completely!) and do everything else the same way. this way you can go way harder with your prop and it can take a hit. I did it this way and I could bend without any worries. also, if it hits you it hurts way less XD.
The point if the ornament was that it was clear. Especially airbending fabric is very sheet and light in color. I didn't want a bright green or blue ball under my white fabric. For another Bender maybe.
+Axceleration if the ball shows through you could paint it the same color of the fabric so it's less noticeable. and if you're going to do other bender(props), good luck :)
Tips! the tennis ball is a great idea but like they said, wrong color, so if you want you can take spair fabric and glue/stitch/whatever to the ball so it is hidden
I'm actually working on an Azula cosplay for the upcoming EPCON and finding this, just made me feel so much better about making it. So far, my armour isn't as fantastic as I want it to be so I feel adding in this cool trick will make everything so much better, Thank you for putting this out there!
Tips for people! if you wanna give it a 'layered' effect, half way down the bulb (on both sides) glue/tie/whatever some fishing line (about 1-4 inches depending on you) and tie more fabric (preferably smaller and/or thinner). Then you get a sort of whispey effect. Note, this means it will get tangled a lot so have patience, and the longer the fishing lines are, the more likly it will tangle. If you want no tangle then just attach the fabric directly to the bulb on both sides
You just inspired me to cosplay Katara! I just couldn't decide who to cosplay next but after seeing how amazing your prop looks i have to make my own version with katara. Thank you for being awesome!!! :3
I'm actually planning to cosplay Juvia from Fairt Tail and I really wanted to do some kind of water prop, thing. This is perfect and awesome! Thank you , for giving me ideas!!!!
If u dont have those plastic xmas ornaments near you or cant buy any: just take off the cap of a smartwater bottle or a fairly durable water bottle (so basically one that doesn’t crinkle easily), cut it just below the start of the curve, so the semicircle shape is left, and cut off the part the bottle cap screws onto (like how they do with the ornament in the video) u can use a tiny bit of hot glue on the edges if a dremel isnt available. if u have any cracks cuz ur knife slipped just just a hot glue gun and apply thin layers on both sides until it doesnt break easily. Then, cut the sides off of the bottlecap, and make a hole just barely big enough to squeeze the bolt thru. If u want to, in between each washer and even the nut at the end i find it helps to put a bit of hot glue for extra security, and to attach the cap to the bottle using hot glue on the cap. I really hope this made sense. I just spent all day making it this way, and stress tested it in my front yard, i swung it around for the better part of 30 minutes cuz it was so fun and it doesn’t come undone ❤️ any questions, just leave a reply 🥰
Do you think for fire you could maybe use ribbon twirlies (no idea what there called) that gymnasts used to make a more suitable shape for he element and tie a stone (or whatever you would use to imitate your chosen shape) to some sort of clear, secure rope thing (so good at english) for earth. I feel like the fire one would work as it would make it appear more rapid and, with practise, more controlled and the earth one could look cool with exaggerated movements but am not an expert so could anyone confirm!! The method in the video is awesome for water and air though
This is so cool! I am going to try and do this for water for my waterbender cosplay. (I love how you make your own designed costume! That's what I did and I love finding others who do it
Simple, basic, something a 5 year old could do. I may need to watch it a few more times to understand. Lol That fishing line is tough to tie. I still can't seem to get it after watching those fly tying videos. Keep rocking it!
A. Not all 5 year Olds can do what my 5 year old can. B. It was used to set up a humorous comment afterwards. Devaluing my own abilities, which a 5 year old could do. I am sorry if you do not have a sence of humour. I shall refrain from comedy in the future to appease you and your dysfunctions.
Jason Bauman You never stated that your 5 yr old could do what other common 5 yr olds cannot in the *first place.* Continue or discontinue whatever you want. Why would you ever need to appease me, a dysfunctional person.
Hi I was just wondering if you used smaller plastic ornaments, do you think this could work with a Wanda Maximoff (Avenger AOU) cosplay? You seem to know a lot about cosplay and I would love your opinion on it!
Love the bending props! Very cheap and simple to make! Will have to get started making those right away. Also, how would you go about making Aang's staff? Would a hiking or walking stick that's painted brown work? What would be the best way to approach it?
This is so amazing! I love your work and cannot wait for your new video! I seriously check like everyday. Thank you so much for posting this, they look so amazing! I will definitely be using this tutorial!
I'm not into avatar so I don't know much about it but this prop is beautiful! ♥ its so graceful and you look like a dancer! ♥ I want to make one for myself and use it with a faerie outfit for the renfest! ♥
Materials: - Fishing Line(Transparent Line) - Couple Eye Bolts - Fender Washers - Keychain Clip - Flowy Fabric - Plastic Christmas Ornament - Sewing Materials(you have to sew a little bit!) Thank you so much for the tutorial
Nice tutorial! I didn't know why my cloth was so hard to move but it was because I didn't add enough weight. I ended up putting a bundle of coins inside the plastic thingy ^^u
have you done any other bender costumes or worked on? I remember you say that you would be using all your bender pins in you other ones.I might be mistaken but yea.
that looks so cool, and yet so simple to make! i really wanna cosplay a bender now x[] i'll definitely use this for my Breath-aspect god tier cosplay tho!
I bought two yards of fabric but I don't like how long it is so I'm going to use half and make two props. I'm a little confused on the part where you sew the edge can you explain a little better?
It looks like she just folds the fabric in half and then starts sewing the ends together about an inch down from the top so when she folds it right side out, there's an opening by the fold and sewn edge corner to put the ornament through.
I made mine with a heavier, tighter weaves fabric, and have a quick question. I noticed air has a little more trouble flowing through my fabric, so would cutting slits help with it being more flow-y?
This actually looks real. Btw, if you were in The Legend Of Korra, what element would you have. I would choose Earthbending. Also, whose your favorite character? "The last Airbender" characters are allowed. My favorite character is Toph. Even the other Earthbenders are my favorite.
So if I want to make an earthbending prop, I could just tie a rock to the end?
Sure. Just don't hit anyone or yourself. I won't be at fault for any bending mishaps lol
i would use styrofoam for earth bending
Is there any way you could make a styrofoam or paper-mache rock, cover it with something like plaster for a rocky texture, and then paint it?
They make larp rocks that are foam, so you could do it with those
Just throw a rock
She basically just made a cheap Voi/Poi. :) Really cool and creative and a lot less money than buying a Voi/Poi for the prop! :3
Exactly.
Do you know where to buy them?
@@0112sweetangel usually amazon or etsy. But they cost upwards of 30 dollars for good quality ones

So happy this tutorial exists!! I just finished making a firebending one for a convention thats coming up :D
looks so cool, I might just make this for fun instead of cosplaying avatar characters!
Same

Thanks!! Might use this tutorial to make fire prop for my Toriel Dreemurr cosplay!
This is by far the best bending prop ive ever seen. Great job!!!

You're so skilled, I'm in awe
So cute! I'll probably end up making a million of these

Oh I didn’t even think about that! Thank you!
I was looking for videos of this, and I returned to the same channel that I am subscribed to, but the video was published 5 years ago 😂
This is really creative!
It is so magical!!! Please , could someone tell me, what kind of fabric was used?
Love the bending props! Very cheap and simple to make! Will have to get started making those right away.

Thanks so much, im going to make a Katara cosplay an this tutorial is very useful. Awesome cosplay!! And awesome air bending🤗❤
This is so cool. This prop enhances the cosplay.
Those look fantastic! I think I might make some just for fun!
Probably gonna use this for my Irma Lair (W.I.T.C.H.) Cosplay, as she is able to control water
oh my god, witch is still a thing? I loved that show so much
I havent heard of WITCH in a while, that was my favorite thing as a kid!
That was fully awesome!! Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely GORGEOUS!
This is so cool ,I’m about to make my own earth bending cosplay
That's so simple but it looks SO GOOD!!!!
Can you do earth bending prop
That looks so cool! If I ever decide to cosplay my OC this would be a perfect prop! (She is a fire mage)

This is super dope :D very awesome inspiration for a mage costume
this is awesome! thank you so much! only thing I'm stuck on is how to fold the fabric, I'm unsure as to how to fold it in on itself-
Thank you for posting this. Was wondering how to make those things.
Nice tutorial! I didn't know why my cloth was so hard to move but it was because I didn't add enough weight. I ended up putting a bundle of coins inside the plastic thingy ^^u
Just want to say thank you for this video, i am having a element photo shoot this spring and this is going to nake it look good.
Dude I just checked out some other stuff on your channel. You got a new subscriber :)
have you done any other bender costumes or worked on? I remember you say that you would be using all your bender pins in you other ones.I might be mistaken but yea.
+DatRandomCosplayer0418 I did make all the sender costumes once upon a time for my friends.
I just found this video and I live for it !
What fabric specifically did you use? Like a chiffon or a silk?
This is sweet! Could you make a video on making/painting the air bending tattoos?!
Hahaha. Yes. I filmed while I did my makeup for this video. I just have to edit it. Itll be posted soon :)
thank you so much for this!!! i plan on cosplaying katara and needed a easy way to make these!!! thanks again!
How lovely.
Imagine tying a rock to a fishing line and just hitting every one at the event/convention
i love your video, its super helpful but i was wondering did you also make the one in the beinning of the video the same way with the tulle?
The one in the opening segment is the one i made in the tutorial.
that looks so cool, and yet so simple to make! i really wanna cosplay a bender now x[] i'll definitely use this for my Breath-aspect god tier cosplay tho!
How much did it cost for you to buy and make the props?
this looks so legit
How much fabric would I need to buy for the Waterbending prop
Melia Johnson you will need 2-3 yards of very flowy fabric
Melia Johnson it's in the description on the video if you need to know what else you need to make it :)
I'm making some water ones now and you need 2 yards
I bought two yards of fabric but I don't like how long it is so I'm going to use half and make two props. I'm a little confused on the part where you sew the edge can you explain a little better?
It looks like she just folds the fabric in half and then starts sewing the ends together about an inch down from the top so when she folds it right side out, there's an opening by the fold and sewn edge corner to put the ornament through.
This would do great for a lapis cosplay, or even a Polaris cosplay if you had green and yellow fabric
I love the atmospheric birb noises in the beginning
How much fabric would you need? And what kind?
Acelaration The Airbending Master!😄
I made mine with a heavier, tighter weaves fabric, and have a quick question. I noticed air has a little more trouble flowing through my fabric, so would cutting slits help with it being more flow-y?
you can try... but something lightweight is really what you need
How long should the piece of fabric be?
That looks so cool!
What were the measurements for your fabric?
Much better than that movie WE DO NOT TALK ABOUT
There is no movie in Ba Sing Se
@@yuegacha3114 Still. Better.
how should I make an earth bending one because the flowing property of the fabric doesn't seem fitting
+Luciano Navarro yeah I haven't thought of a good alternative for earthbending.
More of a levitation wand instead of poi spinning would work
Luciano Navarro paint the bulbs or put a rock on the end of the weight
What fabric do you use? I think mine might have been a bit too heavy
Could this work if you layer two or three colors on top of each other, say, I want to have fire effects, can I layer yellow, orange and red organza?
+VocalSynthesia yeah you can. It might be heavier so you'll need more weight to counter act it
it looks so cool
Are you cosplaying your own fan character? I don't recognize her.
Yes it's my own! :)
Axceleration Cosplay she is so cool~
You make a pretty airbender
ahh im so gonna use this for my air bending costume ty
Your cosplay is soo pretty
Thanks! this will be very cool for my cosplay :)

I cant choose a favourite as there all so dope but I would love to either be an earth or air bender!!
Does this work for waterbending?
This is so cool.
how many washers do you think would be best for a fire bending prop?
It all depends on the weight of the fabric. You have to test it and add or take away as you see how it looks
ok thank you for the help!! :)
+Dave Strider Use real fire. It's all fun at parties....
What kind of fabric did you use?
I wanted to ask what would be good for Lighting bending?
Maybe a few blue ribbons?
Can you make the fabric longer and still work the same?
+Ashy Kemp you'll have to add more weights to counteract it but yeah it should
Thank you so much! :-)
Sorry for another question, but what type of fabric do you use?
This is perfect!! Thank you so much!!
that is so awesome omg
Was the plastic ornament the fillable kind?
Yes
where did you get the washers and the bolts? Idk where to go to just get a pack of them...Thanks
+Nakyjah Noble I got mine from home depot
okay cool thank you!!
okay um could you put a link to where to get the little packages of washers and bolts? Please.. thanks I subscribed to you channel!
What do you call that fabric??
I’m making it rn!!
Going to comic-con this summer and I'm using this tutorial!
WOW i am going to make this!!!! UR SO COOL!!!
love it
This is so cool. She is awesome at this.
:-)
That is awesome
amazing
super helpful!
