- Before their reunion show at B.B. King's in NYC Marley Marl and the Juice Crew talk about making "The Symphony," why Roxanne Shante wasn't on it and the competition between Big Daddy Kane and Kool G. Rap.
NOTE: MC Shan performed but did not participate in the pre-show interview.
"Makin veterans run for medicine cause I put out more lights in a fight than Con Edison!" G Rap skills are insane!
daddy eyez That and "Coming back like I'm avenging my brother's death" KOOL G RIPPED IT!!

*G Rap is highly underrated. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 He killed it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥*
Now play no limit symphony. Just saying
Youngstas need to respect the some of the forefathers of Hip-Hop!! This is living history!!
Jus Fadezz drive slow homey! THESE ARE NOT THE FOREFATHERS OF HIP HOP! These are the people who blazed the torch GOLDEN AFTER THEY GOT IT FROM
THE THE FOREFATHERS: Grand Master Kaz, Melly Melle, KOOL MOE DEE, Kool Herc, Afrikka Bambatta, Grand Master Flash, Busy B, Luv Bug Starski and others whom I don’t even know the name WHO BLAZED THE TRAIL IN THE BRONX, AT THE FEVER, etc 1979 - 88. In the middle of those years RUN DMC SET THE SUPER STAR TONE WITH THEIR 3rd Album Raising Hell. And LLCOOLJ with his second album “Bigger & Degree”. Then 1987/1988 when KANE, G-RAP, KRSONE/BDP, ERIC B & RAKIM, BIZ MARKEE, PUBLIC ENEMY, NWA CAME THROUGH THE DOOR, that’s when HIP HOP STARTED TO CHANGE THE WORLD! But the 88ers ARE NOT FOREFATHERS!
Theonlychild1988 Schooled em
Over 200 Likes and No DisLikes...ppl are respecting the history of HipHop!
Fuck them
So much talent in one room! Even after all these years there is still no rapper who can compare to G rap or kane

We all WELL SOME LOVE DR DRE well well well MARLEY Marl nuff said.
One of the best collaborations early in rap
Real talk I don't know how you could have a juice crew reunion without MC Shan being involved. He came up with great records like Jane , project ho , MC space , living in the world of hip-hop, kill that noise, Down By Law, she ran with another man and left me lonely, I pioneered this(which had a flow and format that inspired it ain't hard to tell by Nas), freedom, cocaine, words to my freestyle, juice crew laws(krs-1 diss record), etc. I mean the man was the lead man for the juice crew, he's not up on stage but yet still have Grand Daddy IU that's crazy.
Shan was there and did perform that night. He just didn't participate in pre-show interviews.
Lord Godspeed just crew law dissed time two chris/Kris's. Krsone and Cool C yell
Lord Godspeed it's probably not on purpose..i don't think it was...BIZ wasn't there either...chill homeboy
Lord Godspeed YOU FORGOT THE BRIDGE.

Just Gimme the Mic was in the Building. It was legendary for me to have them hold my mic and brand for this interview
A stage filled with greatness. Hip hop FOREVER!!!!!

Jay-Rock

The Juice Crew! Aww the memories! Nothing better than the baddest crew from the eighties! Nobody could touch them! :-)
Aminah Shabazz BPD nuff said!!!(mic drop)

The Symphony IS the best posse cut. Its what made me fall in love with rap
Love this video shows how old gees sit back and remember the glory days

Glad you posted this video!!!!
The best crew ever!!!!
I loved me some Big Daddy Kane!
HOW GREAT THEY ARE TO HAVE GIVEN US GREAT ROCKN MEMORIES😎
I Love You Hip Hop !
My 13 year old son who was born in 2004 plays this song on the regular and I was 17 when this joint came out so it definitely is a CLASSIC. All y'all that's 40 or 50 plus that got teenagers who listen to today's rap music, u ain't gonna understand why they like the majority of today's rap. I get it. I don't even like 80% of it but expose them to the shit we listened to in the 80's to bring a balance. U would b surprised how they react
WOW!! This is AMAZING watching this, man I feel like a big kid right now.😄
The Juice Crew ............. One of the most underrated Hip Hop Crews of all time. Add MC Shan and Bix Markie and you know what I'm talking about.
Cool V's shirt!!! Vapors is a dope song i want that shirt. This interview was dope

Thanks for that interview because back in the day magazines like Right on wasnt asking questions like that. They would just be on that pop shit asking Kane why did he only like light skinned chicks. Who cares I wanted to know what motivated them.
PLEASE ACCEPT THESE FLOWERS GIVEN WHILST Y'ALL ARE STILL ABLE TO ENJOY THEM 🌷🌺🌹🌸🍀🌼🌻
LEGENDS.... THAT'S ALL THAT NEEDS TO BE SAID.. ( Youngin's U should hope you have classic material that you can perform and GET PAID 30 yrs after your release)
love this
Roxanne Shante, such a lady, true icon and pioneer!
Probably The Greatest Posse Joint Ever!!!
Totally Agree.
Not gonna argue that point, but, Wu-tang may have a say in that...
@Stuart Dooley Point taken. However, if by "collective of artists" you mean a crew operating as a single impenetrable unit then you've made a salient point. Unfortunately, I don't think that was your point at all.
Wu-tang's mission statement, from the beginning, was for EVERY member to eventually branch out and produce solo albums...
The juice crew, which predated Wu-tang by 5-6 yrs, are the lone originators of that concept...
The juice crew's business model remains to this day, the standard operating procedure for making money in the rap game...
Prior to the juice crew's marvel superheroes approach to the rap game --- where each superhero has their own stand alone movie, "rap groups" were exactly that ---- unified groups (furious five, fantastic romantic five, cold crush, force mc's...), and NOT the "independent contractors masquerading as boy bands" that would become the standard for the industry, post juice crew...
Having said all that, the juice crew's "the symphony" still remains to me, the finest collection of not just rap talent ever assembled---but remember, Marley marl is arguably the best beat maker of all time---to rock on a single joint, regardless of era...
@Stuart Dooley the juice crew was well into it's heyday when DITC got going...I know cause I'm from Patterson projects...rhyme inspector percy pee is my little bro's homie and I watched them literally grow up together...(though percy wasn't DITC)
I basically raised AG from showbiz and AG(andre the giant), who are also DITC products...
Ekim, diamond d, finesse (all forest projects cats) I know em all...
In fact, I was present at that battle in Patterson between percy and finesse in '89...
Remember, DITC indirectly produced fat joe, and big pun(whose rhyme style was heavily influenced by percy pee...)
Now back to Wu-tang. They actually share a bond with each other that transcends arts and entertainment; they're all five percent...
So of course, when compared to a loose juice crew type coalition there's really no comparison...
Don't know if you're a new Yorker or not but either way no disrespect is meant. I'm talking about a bygone era that goes back before any other place was involved. Pre west coast. Pre south. Pre mid west. Even pre philly. When those other places were just starting to emerge, New York was well into experiencing its second golden age. Obviously as a Bronx cat I would know that, given the fact this thing of ours originated in our borough. But again, not to disparage you because you have stated facts regarding the juice crew's hierarchical pecking order, and they're not being as tight a family as Wu-tang was when Wu first arrived on the scene. But also, lest we not forget, that whole concept of bringing hip-hop music to the masses hadn't been refined and perfected yet--- which is largely why I had to annoint Marley TBE, cause remember there was virtually no blueprint before him. His musical influence on the greatest rappers ever (rakim, Kane, g rap and even to a lesser extent, nas) is gloriously indicative of his hegemony. AND, believe it or not, We are all still basically caught in his original matrix, whether knowingly or unknowingly. A matrix that was founded 35 plus yrs ago...
I still got this track on 12 inch vynle in mint!
Love it!
damn, if shante was on the symphony that shit would have been crazy
Symphony 2018 with the whole JUICE CREW need to be done..like the status if you agree

SHANTE, I RESPECTFULLY DISAGREE WITH YOU. YOU WERE ROXANNE SHANTE IN 83-84. No one even knew who Marley Marl was until you. You would have killed the track. You came before all dem dudes..much respect to kane, Craig g, koo g etc but, YOU WAS BEFORE EVERYBODY PRETTY MUCH
.YOU WOULD HAVE DOUBLE SOLIDIFIED FEMALE POWER IN HIP HOP. IT WAS THE BIGGEST SONG JUICE CREW EVER HAD

*🔥🔥🔥🔥 G Rap killed it on "The Symphony". 🔥🔥🔥🔥*
Understand Shan not being there but where Biz?
FYI: Mister Magic, M.C. Shan, Tragedy, Roxanne Shante, Biz Markie, Diamond Shell, Grand Daddy I.U., Glamorous weren't on "The Symphony" for various reasons. More were on Juice Crew Allstars.
I see Granddaddy IU back there!!!
No MC Shan??
He didn't participate in the pre-show interviews, but he performed that night.
Word has it that Shan had it in for Kane
MC Shan and Marley , was beefing during the making of the Marley Marl - In Control Album , Shan said : Marley don’t like to pay nobody and if he Dj for you , he likes to take all the Credit , So, when they were getting ready to record , he rolled out and went over this girls house to get busy
Kool G. Rap had the illest and realest bars, loved how everyone did their thing though.
