if they wanted it to be a cash grab they would have made it a normal trim and sold it to the USA. It's 500 and Japan only for a reason. americans need to learn that other markets and more cultures exist outside of american big horsepower and manual transmissions.

@@xan2242 Right, because the S series of those cars never sell out. And they are never more expensive than the normal models. Oh, wait. They do, and they are. This is not a performance version of the car. It's a special edition unlike the previous special editions. There is no real reason for it to exist. I don't know what you call that, but regardless of the market, I call it a cash grab. 🤷‍♂

@@mcglsr237 a cash grab would be them bringing this half-completed STI to the united states as a mainstream model and marking it up a shit ton because some losers gonna buy it anyways. but they don't, it's japan-limited edition only, I don't think your realise how common limited edition styling variants etc of cars are in Japan, every manufacturer always has some special mixed parts special trim on sale all the time, including Subaru. It's a different culture with different expectations, not american big mac culture.

    • @mcglsr237
      @mcglsr237 2 дня назад

@@xan2242 They already do that, it's called the TR/tS, but with no power bump. It would cost them more money to bring it over, market it, and then run the risk of not selling that many, ESPECIALLY when this falls far short of the USDM standard of an STI (and like over 80% of the WRXs sold in the states are manuals). That's not a cash grab. That's a oopsie. That's the opposite of a cash grab -- a ton of work for no guaranteed big pay out.
However, as a limited special edition car, it WILL sell out over there, just like all the previous "S" versions sold out pretty much immediately. They've had to do pretty much *no work* to make this car, and they drive up exclusivity and the price. This is exactly a cash grab. At this point, I'm thinking our definition of cash grabs are different, and that's a-okay.

The reason it is CVT is because it's for the Japanese market, where the VB WRX is only automatic... and that was because the vast majority of VA WRX's were also sold in automatic. Overall company emissions average would have been too high. ONLY reason companies like like Toyota can still get away with releasing sports cars at the moment is because of the volume of hybrids sold that offsets enthusiast cars. NOT SO FUN FACT: the reason this gen of WRX was debuted in orange WAS that Subaru did plan to debut the STI in blue…plans internally changed. I switched from a 4runner to a subaru crosstrek sport. I went from Jeep to Toyota 4Runner to my 1st subaru. I don't do extreme offroading anymore since I had my kids, but with my family I had to pick a vehicle for my family. MPG, I love my new subaru and it get me places. I was sad when I sold my 4Runner but I absolutely love my new car.

Matt, as a fellow WRX FAN.
I know it’s disappointing to see these specs. 😢😮😢
We all know Subaru is a business and there’s something going on that they need to comply with. 😮😮😮
Look at the bright side a used WRX is always a good option. 😊😊😊

People will always complain 😂. Cannot please everyone. I have the WRX and the only complaint is the shifter could be tighter. Just returned from 5 cm of snow and it tracks just like it was dry. Also, gas mileage is decent for 276 HP engine. The average is 10.6 litres per 100 km and I do not baby it. I do not need more power since I am not racing just enjoying the pick up and enjoying the handling. 😅

Gave up on Subaru after 2009, when they launched that Focus wannabe WRX 5 door for 2010.. it's been down hill since. Drove a 2024 VX for a few weeks and it was horrid; crappy seats, poor ergonomics and the driver assists almost killed me a few times.

I think this confirms to the VB owners that it is very safe to tune their cars with an intake and exhaust and an ecu flash and make 350whp. STI division just came late to the party as they undertuned the car for emission reasons.

Upside though. I own a GT and it is tuned at 19+psi. It rips for city/canyon/offroad speeds.
No issues even after 20k+ miles. One cool note, each mode for engine management has different levels of boost. Thanks to Dotson Tuning out of Texas via E-tune.
ETS intake only. Going to retune after exhausted and cooler install. ✌️

Wish it came with Stock 300 hp and I’d absolutely pay an extra 20k as I work for a living - with that go to your Dealer or (Ask) Subie USA for your Subie news - to date there is no STI planned till sometime near 2028 😞 so r u willing to pay extra for stock hp - if your crying for the bill at 300 imagine what 4 to 500 might be when it comes out with Toyota hybrid tech?

But the Civic Si & Type R & Integra S are manual only. Might seem like a lot of money for a Civic, but it is universally loved and critically acclaimed. They also have great resale value and are very special cars that transcend their numbers. It's also roomier, hatchback, better build quality and reliability. Only reason I could see to get the WRX is if you absolutely need AWD. I'd personally go for Integra type S since they are usually at sticker while type R's are marked up and I prefer the styling.

@ that’s what I did got the type S a little below sticker and I love it. Plus I personally think the Type S looks better than the Type R. But it’s good they are manual only that means that they made them thinking of enthusiasts. Your regular grandma is not going to go in and buy one.
