For someone who has voted for nothing but Eirika since 2019 it seems my persistence has definitely paid off! Since they gave either a prf skill or special to every unit it doesn’t really feel like there are runners up this time, they all seem as good as each other.
Marth and Eirika are the most useful to the most people imo. They both have weapons and prf skills that are absolutely loaded with good effects.
I think they all have some impressive utility! Eirika is arguably the best solo artist of the batch and self sufficient, the others have support functions in some capacity.

I watched it right after getting out of bed and with that ponytail I was like "Oh Lyn... cosplaying as Ephraim" and was super confused for a minute.
Hahah, yeah there are Lyn vibes there. I've seen some people liken her hairstyle to Tana, which would also make sense and be a cute reference.

@@GuardianEPlays Japanese Feh Channel also showed off Alois, so he's in the game too. And from the looks of how they're standing, they look to be:
Alois: sword infantry/armor (it's very faint, but in the dust cloud by Catherine's left hand, you can make out a sword)
Sylvain: lance cavalry (most likely hidden behind everyone else, pointed at the ground, like majority of lance cav's idle animations have them do)
Lorenz: tome infantry
Cyril: bow infantry
Rhea: beast infantry? (she didn't have any weapon in hand, so I assume beast weapon based on that)

Also I would be really surprised to see Rhea as a beast. We don't see well her right hand, so I believe she can be a tome/sword user, as she wields the Sword of Seiros and magic in 3H, and Seiros is already a dragon.
@@dantefilsdesparda She didn't have a sword. If she did, the blade would've been visible clear as day sticking out of Cyril, just as it was with Alois (albeit squinting hard to see it in the dust cloud, but it was sticking out past Catherine). And if she was magic, I'm pretty sure she would be holding the tome up like Lorenz was? Also, pretty sure Rhea transformed into a beast in one of the routes. I'm not saying you're wrong, but...I just can't see how it would be anything other than beast when there is literally no indication whatsoever that she had a weapon in her hand, especially when all she had covering her was Cyril, and even then, he wasn't covering her up enough that he could conceal and entire sword/tome. So I'm still firmly believing she could be a beast unit.
And yeah, Alois getting a sprite too XD kinda makes me want to get Gatekeeper just to see how many different animations he has to see if there's any more 3H units hiding amongst the crowd. But sadly, I'm going double Eirika as I need that Menace fodder (and if Surge Sparrow just needs Swift Sparrow as a prerequisite, I think I can get both skills inherited at the same time.)

I don't think Rhea transforms into a beast in 3H. I haven't played SS, but I believe she transforms into a berserk dragon, right ? That's why it would surprise me. 🤔
Also I used gatekeeper and I figured out there are also Hanneman, Manuela and Aelfric (from Cindered Shadows).

Marianne's art is so beautiful IMO ! She is the best Golden Deer character. Dare I say the best student of FE 3 Houses. This is gonna be a tough cyl for me cause I burned so many orbs this past summer banner ;_;

As someone who was very much not a fan of, let's just say, _the reversal_ from the midpoint CYL5 voting to the final result, I think IS giving the 2nd place winners perf weapons _and_ skills is a great way to, I guess, lessen the blow of anyone placing 2nd rather than 1st. The trade off now seems to be 2nd place being very strong, while 1st place is very strong _and_ has unique effects that you can base a team around. Everyone turned out great, and it just boils down to your own personal preferences and wants for who you think are the best units.
My plan has been to go for Marth and Eirika, and it still remains the plan. Very happy with how they turned out!
Also, you bring up a good point about the possibility of past 2nd place winners receiving perf skills down the road. I wonder if that could be something like the Legendary Hero Remixes. But also, keeping in mind how ridiculous skills and effects are today, they'd probably have to give the 1st place winners tier 2 perf skills to stay about equal with 2nd place winners.
I think all the CYL characters should get a unique prf to set themselves apart, honestly. I guess I'm a bit biased by that with Camilla, but I do think that if you get to the top 2 placement of the list that year, you deserve it.

Someone pointed out something interesting about Gatekeeper's art. The three animals with him are a Hresvelgion Whisker, a Reigan Tabby, and a Blaiddyd Rex.

One thing to note is that Eirika's B only negates the guard field debuff (inflicted by Ruse skills or stuff like Iago's PRF), but not the guard effect from skills like Guard, Special Fighter or Tier 4 Stance skills. That's a bit of a bummer, because the guard debuff itself is so much rarer.
That's true. Maybe it's a sign that we'll be seeing more Guard debuff effects in the future.

The art for all of them looks awesome-especially Eirikas, though i have a slight bias there because Wada Sachiko is one of my favorite artists in the game lmfao. Skill wise, they all look good too.
It was surprising to see that Eirika and Marth got PRF b skills. Definitely didn't expect that one. I adore Marianne's attack animations, and Gatekeeper's is goofy but also fitting. I'm pretty sure im gonna free summon Marianne. As for if i go in further...I'm not sure yet. I'll decide at a later time. Good luck to everyone summoning!

Eirika's definitely taking after brother; must be during his Axe using days. Well Surge Sparrow seems to be a new normal skill, though her b slot seems an amped up take on what she usually has.
IIRC Those are Anri's clothes; his famed ancestor (he is to Marth what Marth is to Chrom) I guess they felt being locked to inf. sword, he'd stay that way. His kit seem very much a leader/supporting sort, but that is Marth in a nutshell, the original leader/supporter. (Alm'd be the first battle focused lord who had a similar Brave ver.). Sigurd (who had such a skill or such in his Legendary) was perhaps both. He basically supersedes his normal version and seems to be a more general use ver. of his legendary version (who is overly dragon-slaying)
People are making cracks about her back in her attacking animation. But she seems to be a different take on dancer with her special having the effect. Seems to be a loop hole on dancer rules (she can refresh dancers and vica versa). Can't say the art is cute as I like, but I hope her fans are happy.
Full on meme with him and the effect with a structure and having "obstruct" is fitting of someone priding himself as a gate keeper.
I wonder if we'll hear anything about refines for that generation of CYL units (Camilla, Micahia, Alm, and Eliwood) soon.

Yeah this does warrant a sort of "brave remix" of 2nd placer Brave units... though I can imagine Brave Claude's being "Golden Deer rule... I guess" as a sort of reflection of his personality. I mean they've started working on older Legendaries via new specials, weapon refines, passives. Each had varying outcomes (like L.Ryoma becoming a beast)
But I'm leaning towards Marth... gotta respect the OG Lord. Gate keeper would be of interest, as for the others, I wouldn't complain if they fell into my hands.
Ah, Anri's clothes. That would make sense. I've heard people say that it also resembles Caeda's armor a bit. In either case, they usually do a nice job on the references. While his transformation isn't quite the most exciting for me visually, it is faithful and well done.
Aw, I really like Marianne's attacking art. I think they did a great job on her rendition.

Usually we get CYL refine information in September, so I think it'll be a few weeks before we hear anything.
I'd love a brave remix, selfishly, just because I want Brave Camilla to shine as much as possible. The weapon refines have been great for the most part, but there have been a few whiffs... and I'd be lying if I didn't say I was concerned they'll whiff with Brave Camilla considering how I feel about Duo Hinoka.

Yeah, I'd honestly appreciate all the winners to get unique skills. I feel like they all deserve it.
After I get Gatekeeper for free, gonna go ham for Marianne (one to keep and one to fodder Atk/Spd Unity to Sharena) and probably Eirika (mostly for her A-Skill).
Also Yamada went ham on Gatekeepers art man. This is one of the reasons I love his art! Same goes to Toshiyuki's art for Marianne, she look gorgeous (and rocking the side-boob).

Brave Eirika and Brave Marth are the winners in this batch in my opinion, I feel like Brave Marianne and Brave Gatekeeper are fun situational units, while Brave Marth and Brave Eirika will do well in the long run of FEH. So I will summon a Free Eirika and go for Brave Marth on the banner, Good Luck to all fellow Summoners who will go for the CYL Units
I think that Gatekeeper and Marianne have unique utility and support, while they might not be solo powerhouses. Strict stat boosts never have the same longevity as new mechanics, in my opinion. Good luck on your summons!

I’m actually interested in Brave Eirika and Marianne personally. Eirika looks like she’s potentially designed to destroy the Hegemon beast and Marianne has that Requiem Dance Special which is pretty cool in concept. Marth and Gatekeeper are certainly strong for modern times too.
It’s interesting everybody has some form of null follow-up which is very much appreciated.

They actually broke the pattern for movement types for last year's CYL. We didn't get any calvary last year. Instead there were two infantry, one armor, and one flying.
Apparently it was never a pattern and I was going crazy. I honestly don't know where that thought even came from as I was rambling. Sorry for the confusion!
I have a problem with Ericka because as being a big fan I never said " man you know what will improve her looks is it she's cosplaying as her brother ". With that said I will gladly choose her as my free 5* because she's Ericka and finally a non red Ericka. My legs are only at 4 so no real going to pity but oh well.

We've never had even distribution of movement types, only orb colour has ever been evenly distributed, this is certainly the most skewed but still is just as many movement types as CYL1 had.

The banner itself is amazing and the characters are very strong. My one wish was for Brave Eirika to not be red, and that's been fulfilled. My ultimate goal for this banner is to +10 Brave Eirika, and on occasions where there are no blue stones, I'll go colorless for Brave Marianne.

@@GuardianEPlays I'm just...so happy they didn't royally eff her over. They knew how bad the backlash was over the results. There's no way they avoided all social media and didn't see the massive hate that spawned. They had to have seen it, and this was how they chose to make amends for the results; by giving EVERYONE prf skills and not doing 2nd place runner-ups dirty with basic kits that are "good, but not great or spectacular". I'm happy Eirika got the love and respect she deserved from her Brave alt, and I'm sure she's gonna be quite a relevant unit for a while.
It looks to me like the runner-ups both got better kits than the winners and Marianne's inheritable skills were already introduced. Kind of a bummer.
I think Marianne has some unique utility that will grant her longevity. I don't know if I'd say the runner ups got entirely better skills. Just different roles.
Hm, I wouldn't even say that. Eirika looks good on paper, but in the end what she does is what already existing units were already able to do for the most part, so she's just a win more player phase unit. I'm reserving judgement on Marth until the banner is out, but Marianne and Gatekeeper are very clearly built with Aether Raids in mind, and are honestly pretty insane there with their kit, easily worthy of the actual CYL winner. And considering that Aether Raids is the only mode where skill actually matters (everywhere else, you more or less have infinite retries), that seems like a good point in their favor.
I just go pick it up Marianne and prepare myself for R6 collab man just give me ash and I ready to go , blitz is a monster as defender but I need too buy the neko ash skin

CYL 4: 1 Flying, 1 armoured, 2 infantry

I wonder why they even bothered with the FEH channel. It didn't reveal too much compared to the trailer. They waited too long, really.
Still, hot damn, Gatekeeper's art. And his skills and weapon are hilarious too. Can't say I saw him being a green tome coming, but he certainly looks interesting. A good candidate for my free pick.
They made Marianne very interesting too. I was expecting a horse with her Blutgang sword or something, but her clad in dancer garb, with a colourless tome and a dance special? She seems really good for either catching people off guard or cleaning up entire groups of enemies at once in one turn. Encountering her is going to be scary.
And Eirika...well, she's just another pain in the ass horse. That better Swift Sparrow skill is pretty interesting, though - I think it's the first time that an A-skill turns your special into a way to heal yourself (usually it's extra damage instead).
Marth is the most underwhelming one, honestly. Another red sword infantry, yaaay~ He's going to be a pain to take down with his damage reduction, but all the buffing will get shut down hard by Panic and the like. Eh.
In the end though, I only really care about Gatekeeper and Marianne, and I get one for free. Not to mention these guys are bound to return later plenty of times. Considering Double Special Heroes is also coming up, I think I'll save my orbs.
Yeah, I wonder if there were some scheduling delays or something. The Feh Channel came out super late.
I personally find Marth a bit underwhelming as well. Yes, he's going to have a ton of effects and be able to coordinate a team's buffs that will synergize with his own power, but he's just a little boring. That said, happy for Marth fans.

Honestly Erika is my favorite of this CYL. Love her art and her Kit!
I'm assuming Surge Sparrow will be a branching skill from Swift Sparrow 2, similar to Unity & Bond 4 from Bond 3.
Marianne feels... Underwhelming... To me at least, and honestly due to the lack of a unique Slot Skill.
Marth... Eh... Just another Sword Infantry...
Eirika does look fantastic! That does make sense for Surge Sparrow. I think people are underestimating Marianne's potential. She's not going to be a run in and sweep blind while slapping the controller type of character, but she's going to open up so many new strategies and possibilities that only she can do with her unique special and role as dancer/not dancer.
At least atk/spd menace isn't locked behind a mythic unit anymore

I wish they gave Marianne the cipher outfit instead with dorte it would've been cooler they could even maybe made her a dark pegasus mage with this tome it would fit better than this one tbh Marianne is a shy timid girl dance attire is abit weird for her I can se hilda but her it's a bit weird the art is abit weird tbh I dont know why they chose that artist for her especially the attack art pose looks painful it looks like it would hurt if u did it poor Marianne it looks like she was forced into it they made her uhh thick which is very weird because she is not she is a sweet timid girl but the attack animation looks so sick regardless with her crest beast coming out makes out for it . Gatekeeper art is the most sick and his attack animation is the best honestly! I love how they gave eirika tana's hairstyle to show how much their friendship is! I'm gonna spark eirika and hopefully Marianne can come before the spark and for free hero I will chose gatekeeper!
I think CYL is always about showing another side of the heroes, so I think it makes sense to put her in something more daring. I dunno, I think her art looks pretty great. She has a great figure in 3H, it's just mostly covered up. Good luck on your summons! Hope you get them all quickly!

Marth is 182 BST, Eirika is 173 BST, and Marianne / Gatekeeper are 171 BST. You probably factored in stuff like the buffs and stat increases from their weapons.

In my first 40 pulls I got 5 5*!: one was B!Marth and the rest was off-banner.....
Surge Sparrow is definitely not locked, or the border would be white. So Eirika could in theory give Surge Sparrow + Atk/Spd Menace to anyone you want. Legendary Claude was my first thought...

The powercreep on the skills is pretty potent this year imo. Lots of incentive to pull for these characters.
Gatekeeper's kit is very gimmicky but he and Marianne seem like great supports. Their art is great too. I definitely want those two the most. Due to unwise spending on the Pirate banner I don't know if I can get to the spark, but I'll try to lol.
She definitely absorbed her brother's look. And I totally didn't catch Marth's outfit, but it does look an awful lot like Caeda!
WIth Marth, I think they continuously run into the issue where if he's not wielding Falchion there will be a subset of people that are upset. Kind of unfortunate.
Lots of really potent skills available, for sure! Hopefully you can get your orbs needed. I'm honestly in the same boat, heh. After the disaster of the Pirate banner, I'm hurting in a big way.

You need 135 orbs x2 in order to spark twice, doing full circles every time.
If you count the one free pick, you can. You get one free pick, and then have enough orbs to spark for 1 more.
Close Reversal is not a unique skill, unique skills have silver borders, its an inheritable tier 4 skill
That makes sense. I was second guessing the introduction of a Tier 4 DC.

Marianne is probably one of the most disappointing units in the entire game for me. Not only is her weapon just kinda meh, especially with all the things coming out that counters DR, it also only reduces two stats on foe. Meanwhile you have everyone else with these pretty insane weapons all thing's considered.
Then we have her prf skill which is legit one of the worst prf skills in the entire game not even exaggerating. For a simple comparison lets look at L Sigurds special. L Sigurd's special gives +1 move to all allies REGARDLESS of range between them which on its own is bonkers, but it also boost his special damage by 25% of his atk, and gives +6 atk to all allies after combat WHILE ALSO HAVING 2 cooldown which is so broken its not even funny.
Meanwhile Mariannes special is a dance maybe if you can even have it proc and its only for allies within 2 spaces and if hp matches it simply does not work and its also 3 cooldown for whatever reason with the only thing reducing it being time's pulse which is very inconvenient. Like she doesnt even have slaying in her tome which is just so bad considering even Sigurd has that in his weapon.
I honestly do not understand what they were doing with Marianne, its like they designed her like a ghb unit and stuck her on a banner with all the gimmicks a ghb unit would have. For being first place in the female's division it sure doesnt feel like it at all. Like they went out of their way to give prf skills to 2nd place probably just because they did not like the results and treated 2nd place like 1st place. All that saving I did was for naught I guess since im just skipping this banner.
I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed in Marianne. I don't personally think she's bad. Despite damage reduction counters existing, they aren't that prevalent or overexposed. It's just something to work around, which makes for balance.
I don't think I'd compare her to L!Sigurd. Their specials perform completely different roles. +1 move is not a refresh. You're not often going to have two units with the exact same health, and it can be chained in unique ways since Marianne herself is not a "dancer". Infantry also has all manner of special reducing skills on allies to be able to utilize. I think that will arguably maintain her longevity more than stat boosts and follow up nullification.
Is her kit overpowered and self-sufficient? No, but she has unique utility and team support functions. I think it can inspire interesting team compositions and strategies, and her being a colorless tome unit is a steep positive.
