- Boy I tell ya, this week has been really busy at the shop but all of the jobs have been just your run of the mill plain ol' plain ol' boring jobs. Like this one for example. hangin' a couple of mufflers on a 2013 Nissan Altima. Not to exciting. I can't complain though, the days have been going pretty smooth.
-Enjoy!

Gives you mind a break once in a while. Savor it, the next one may be the nightmare. LOL
What is the worst stuck axel nut you have encountered. All four on my 2011 Jeep Cherokee look like they are welded on with no threads present. I foresee replacing the entire axel shaft after they are cut off. Should I need that type of work in the future.
Thanks for the part number on the trimmer. I have added it to my Cadre of tools. I always learn something new here. I'm no pro. Thanks for taking the time!
How about "Tool Time with Eric O.'? That sounds like a winner!
geeze thanks one of those bits came with my air hammer but had no idea what it was for
typical man i didn’t read the instructions
However lame you think a video is, there’s someone learning something of value from it.
If nothing else we all learned, or were reminded, to read and reread the part numbers and if a part doesn't look right go back and check it again.
That's true as I had no idea that you can't cut metal that doesn't oxidize with a cutting torch. If there ever comes a day when I cut metal with a cutting torch I'll know that.
I can always learn something from Mr. O if for no other reason than he does a complete professional job with good attention to details.
This. Had no idea there was a metal cutting bit for air hammers, though seeing it in use it makes perfect sense.
Sometimes it's the lame ones that keep the bills paid - regardless we still enjoy watching them.
Eric, your "lamest" videos are way better than most other people's "best videos" I'll keep watching your videos, thank you very much😁👍 Have a great weekend, my friend.
No doubt.
No matter how "boring" you think your video might be; it's qa whole lot better than ANYTHING on TV. Thanks for the tips and such.
Glad you enjoyed it!
There is no such thing as a lame South Main video 😂
Exactly. The car might be mundane/lame, but the video isn’t.
Evening Eric, no such thing as mundane at SMA🤣🤣
Respect for not using clickbait or fake drama.
Started off with Rory, Shawn , and Mike out doing trail repairs , and now Eric at SMA doing in shop repairs . Pretty darned good Saturday . Trail Mater for those who didn't know who Rory and crew were )
Me too!
After fixing other peoples broken rides all week every week...I'm not here for the repair. I'm here for your comedy! You assure me that talking to myself while working doesn't make me weird.
if your not talking to yourself while working ,then something is wrong with you lol. Do it all the time ,keeps me semi sane
Just don't argue with yourself! 😂
@@dans_Learning_Curve Don't lose the argument! I did, then I storm off and lock myself in the bedroom until I talk myself out. It's always kinda awkward afterwards....
@@markh.6687 LoL 🤣😆
*Great response!!*
don't worry Eric everything you do is interesting plus so many words of wisdom.
I did learn that because stainless doesn't oxidize it doesn't cut well using a torch. Very interesting.
Was wondering why you cut the ends of the u-clamps with the torch. I didn't think they were that long. Pretty common repair, but still worth the watch.
Came here to ask the same question.
Thanks for clearing that up. I thought he was just roasting nuts!
Eric, no matter if it's boring work to you, we always enjoy watching your work !! I think those Chrome Tips added at LEAST 5 HP per side !! I've followed you for years, and I just wish that I lived closer to you. I would definitely bring my car to you. You're the most honest mechanic I know of. You can always be trusted to do the right thing, and ensure that it is working properly before it leaves the shop. Enjoy your weather before the cold sets in. We will be watching to see what is next for you.
At least I learned about a new air hammer bit. However, the exhaust systems here in Michigan usually end up looking like brown lace. A couple of good tugs and they're on the floor.
Might be boring to some, but it pays the bills and makes me look forward to the trickier jobs. Keep up the good work Mr O.😊
10 minutes of SMA goodness !💯
Lame-o videos are better than no-mo videos. :D I enjoyed it
Thanks for the video Eric... No matter how boring.. yours are still very informative
Your "lamest video yet" still taught me something; I didn't know those metal slitting attachments for the air hammer existed, and I just ordered one!
I always enjoy a visit to the SMA shop regardless of how lame the job. Thanks for posting.
My favorite RUclipsr!!!!! This dude is the best!!!!
I'll gladly give you a comment and a thumbs up even for the lamest video you can thank of just for what little payment it is for the help you give people. Thanks for all you do Eric O. Never a disappointment.
Thank you Eric! Might seem lame to you but when your neighbors car don't pass inspection and you are laying on the ground in your driveway trying to change it, you appreciate you!
Foraging a Pick-n-Pull 850kms away, I was struck by how many Nissan Altimas there were in the junk yard. Not as many as the all-time champion of the Car crusher Hyundais and Kias, if you own a newer Kia, you will NEVER run out of Junkyard salvage parts, ever. When you buy an Air-hammer, just remember: Go big. The panel ripper you used is good for all kinds of automotive destruction. Great channel, great content especially anything to do with a torch blasting metal all over the place like a Schwarzenegger movie. 👏
I appreciate your showing how to use a sheet metal trimmer. This was very good information.
I've never seen one of those pipe slitters before, so I learned something new today.
As a young man I grew up just North of Eric O fixing and driving old cars. As an old man I recall being able to do it all without a torch or 2 post lift. Surely not as easily. A hunk of log made a great safety stand. Thanks for the video.
Even your "mundane" videos are great!!
There’s nothing lame about BIG NASTY! I played the theme music in my head and I know I’m not the only one.
Your still by far the best and youtube mechanic/technician. Everyone still likes watching anything you put out mechanical
Eric, the mufflers look amazing. You do great work! Thanks for sharing.
Boring or interesting labor fees are labor fees, and you gotta pay the bills. Your commentary is always worth the watch. Thanks for the videos
The diagnostics are fascinating, being exposed to the latest technology and all. Sometimes you just have to pay the bills.
No such thing as a lame SMA video. Enjoy whatever content you give us! Did you get a new camera? Sure is a crisp clean video! Love from AZ ❤
You got a wonderful attitude you’re a trooper😂
When you have days that are not exciting , just get Missus O to come in and give us all a smile !
I like ya gloves !
You just keep them coming Eric. I'm with you no matter what . If I could be there to hand you a wrench , I'd be by your side. Much love my brother. There are a lot of times you don't show the real struggle. We know, we've been there. Thank you for sharing your talent. I've learned a lot watching how you use a torch. You taught me not to be afraid of burning off frozen fasteners. I never used the cutting torch, now it's my best friend.
Dr. O., I'm sure that you know that those band clamps are also available for "lap joints".
My first experience with band clamps was about 5 years ago doing a "cat back" exhaust on a friends truck. I wasn't too sure about them that first time but, when I was finished, I swore I'd never go back to the old U-bolt style and, with the exception of 1 "just to get by" exhaust, I haven't.
Either way, even when you think a video that you post is boring and/or useless, there's always someone that learns something from it.
We can always go for a good old south main auto 4 wheel brake job, non of your videos are ever boring in the rust belt
Spent several hours today teaching my son to do a proper brake job using tips and products based on what I’ve seen in the videos presented by you (and Rainman) so please don’t quit doing these. Someone can learn something from every single video.
Who else wants to see Eric do some oil changes? I find you can always learn new things even from simple jobs.
Nothing wrong with “lame”. I live vicariously through these videos 😂❤
Eric, another great video and thank the lovely Mrs O for an assist.
Eric O. says lame, I immediately want to see what's up.
I find interest in every one of your videos Mr. O. I learn something new in each and every one of them!
I'd watch you watch paint dry Eric. Your Commentary alone would be worth it, but also I never changed a muffler before, let alone own a Nissan, but now I have an idea how to do it. I learned something!
The only lame part were the set screw exhaust tips 😁
The ‘lamest’ SMA video is still better content that most of what’s put out these days. We appreciate you Mr. O!
I enjoyed watching your alignment video that you made with the old Mustang. If you have another alignment job, I will definitely watch it.
It'ss not lame, just that air hammer bit you showed us is helpful. Thank you for your time and content.
Even lame from SMA is still gold
Bruce, it ain't lame, it's life. This is the sort of thing DIYers do, so it is very relevant. TY
Thank you for turning the muffler clamps to the side, not straight down like my silly mechanic did. I tried to explain how if you hit some road debris, you could rip out your new exhaust!
He's young...
Love all your videos Eric. None of them are lame. Having repairs to do is a good thing no matter how lame the repair is !!!
Eric, do you suggest 3k oil changes or 5k oil changes for NYS registered vehicles ??
My new favorite tool, Eric’s air hammer! Almost as good as Big Nasty. I think we need special music just for that tool. 🔧👍
Good to see ya, brother! Been a bit. Working for someone else now, so time is severely limited these days. Glad you’re still at it. I’ve come to the realization that alcohol was the only thing keeping me sane enough to do what I was doing. As soon as I quit drinking, my coping mechanism was gone, so I had to make some changes in my life. All good so far, although I do miss my free time. We’ll see where this next chapter takes me. Keep on keepin’ on, brother. 👍👍 God bless you & the family.
My lame job today was a radiator and water pump belt on an 08 kia for a friend's daughter. Sent her to the parts house 5 miles away to get the parts, I had both on the floor before she got back. Went back together even quicker. Easy hundred, then her dad took the wife and I out for pizza. I'm kinda liking lame jobs. Pays the bills and a free meal is hard to beat. Keep on rocking it Mr. O.
As a DIY, I still learning…even your “short clips” are informative.
Some days are like that. The tech tips are still there which make it helpful. Good one Mr. O.
There is something enjoyable about watching this guy.
Test drive to the Ice Cream Store makes every job a winner !!
None of your videos are lame Mr O, it’s nice to see a craftsman at work 👍
Not lame to me. Each car is different. Each repair is different. That cutting bit is a great tool for DIY. Very useful and won’t break the bank.
We the Viewer's of The South Main Auto Channel don't care what kind of video you make Eric, as long as it is a video.
Always amazes me that we as mechanics have repairs come in waves. Like not doing a clutch in a year then all of a sudden three in a row... always good videos
We will take whatever you are willing to make, Eric!! Always a treat!
Boring is good. Gives you a chance to think about other things. Less stress too!
Now he can go super fast like Wile E Coyote.😂
The air hammer tool I use for outside pipes has a rounded spoon with a cutting edge on one side. The spoon has a sharp edge which allows it to hammer in between the two pipes and slit the outer one. I think it maybe easier to use them what you used. I enjoy all of your videos!
I try very hard never to miss an episode of Sameo Lameo Auto Repair.
Oh yeah, we don't work on cars with intermittent electrical problems.
If your intermittent electrical problem isn't smoking like a chimney fire, don't park that piece of junk in our driveway.
This Weeks Special: 50% Off the candy bars we bought from the Rise 'n Shine Laundromat down the street, that went out of business six months ago. Get them while they are hot. No joke, Foh real doe! Best if purchased before 9am
on of your old videos on equinox camshaft pos sensors saved me when I helped someone out you are the man. no lame in you thanks again you help us all
Never a lame video from SMA!
Thanks for the video Eric.
No video of yours is lame. Best channel on RUclips. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
As a shade tree "mechanic" that uses a chisel and hacksaw to remove a muffler while lying on the ground on a tarp it isn't so lame. It makes me want to get a lift and an acetylene torch. Don't underestimate what some of us get out of your videos.
Some very lame videos sometimes turn into disaster repairs! Knowledge is the key my brother!
I would watch brake jobs all day… your channel is the best!
That pipe cutter is a really slick attachment. I thought I've seen alot, but have never seen that. thanks for a great video!
Eric,
It is another great video - thank you!
I dont watch the videos for the mufflers. I watch them for you.
SMA#1
Paul (in MA)
Nothing like a 1 into 2 exhaust setup to make my heart pound with excitement!
Always good stuff from SMA. Keep it up!
The good part is that the Walker mufflers will rot away as soon as they get a whiff of salt and you will probably be replacing them soon. Thanks for the video.
It was the most exciting muffler replacement video I've seen all day. My favorite part was cutting down the bolts on the clamps with the blue saw.
not a lame video when you add that bumping bass line towards the end....keep 'em coming daddio
Sometimes "lame" is just what the doctor prescribed. Easy in then easy out and lots of happy and satisfied people equals a good days work. Thanks.
Working near busy roadways once or twice or five times a week now, I have come to despise most all "racer-boy" exhaust notes. God bless mufflers and mellow hp. But I still love big diesel sounds-something about how the turbo mellows it all out, and how the torque makes it happen.
Luckily, no video is lame with the master detective aboard! Thanks for sharing! See ya next time!
Watching your channel about 50 miles on the Thruway near Henrietta NY. On my 10 DOT break!
Never lame when ol Vic makes an appearance!
It's fun to see an easy-peasy video every once in a while. Especially since that would have been a less than optimal car to take a nap in with the engine running in the wintertime.
Don't sell yourself short, the possibilities for future lameness are endless lol
I don't think it was lame at all. It's a good refresher course for us regular Joe's on how to replace a muffler and add some fancy tips. Thank you for putting this and all your videos together for us to watch.
Brake jobs, mufflers, Wilberts, Avoca Smoka, trips for ice cream, we love them all.
Eric, anything you post turns to gold. I think there's a good number of us who tune in and watch even the so-called lame videos just have a conversation with you and your wife. Watching a skilled professional at work is what keeps most of us here. Even if that skill is monotonous at times.
You might think its a lame video but by this point you're definitely a youtube personality that people watch for you, not necessarily the jobs you do. You're still a top tier mechanic that puts out extremely informational videos, but your personality pokes through on these simple jobs and its nice watching a master cruise through jobs like these.
If you don't feel like filming the "lame stuff" take a break and relax. We will all be here waiting for the next exciting video.
The Steely Dan style music at 9:15 made it a great video! We like all your videos. The only thing missing was Mrs O.
might be a mundane repair but i had never heard of that air hammer bit before so still learned something useful!
Have you seen the videos of people cleaning out the threads of a brand new oil filter with a rag before installing? It’s amazing the metal shavings you will get out of some that are being injected right into the “clean” oil right at startup after an oil change. I now run a rag through every filter I install .
I don’t think it’s lame at all. It’s valuable information for someone that perhaps needs to change their own exhaust because they want to save some money, or they are trying to learn new skills. And let us not forget how entertaining you are. That’s a thing you know.
Well, you could be Ivan who is currently melting his brain over headlight schematics.
