      It used to be so simple - I'm 5'8" with a 29 inch leg = 19 inch frame - Bish bash bosh - no probs. Pain in the arse nowadays as the small medium and large sizes change with the larger wheels and I'm like errrr..... I have no idea lol

    Thanks for the explanation.
    Nevertheless, I keep thinking Merida Silex is oversized in length (reach) compaired to other bikes of "same size".
    This beeing said I'm afraid of back pain. Am I right to feel concerned about this ?
    Also, I wish there were more tests of merida silex 400 in french or in english. And the bike is barely available in France, so maybe the search is not worth it. Please, read this and make it available 😉😉😉

    I'm trying to size myself for a Big Trail 500 but cannot make any sense of the online Smart fit instructions when it comes to arm length;
    ''Relax your left arm and with your right hand, slide over your shoulder blade until you find the end of your shoulder bone. Fixate that point with your left hand.''
    'Shoulder bone'?! Do you mean a part of the scapula (shoulder blade) (and if so, which exact part) or do you mean the top of the humerus (upper arm bone)?
    Either way, how, exactly are you supposed to 'fixate' that point with your left hand when it's at the other end of your left shoulder?! Do you mean your 'right' hand?!

    Hi Merida Team,
    My height is 196cm, and I have a lot of problems with bike fitting. I tried the smartfit calculator with eSilex 600 about month ago, and it suggested me XL with the end of the scale. When I ordered the bike and tested it, I found it a little bit tight. I tried the calculator the second time, and it said that this bike wasn’t fit me. The upper border of height for eSilex XL is 191cm now, with average leg/arm length. The same story happened with Silex 300 and 600, which I also tried in the calculator. Could you please explain, what happened with the system, are the new calculations correct? It is important for me to understand what to do next. should I try a bikefit session or just sell the bike (can’t return it to the shop).

    Hello. I know it is not so easy to answer to this question, but I am interested in Silex 400. SF Calc says I am at the very end of XS scale (female/165,1 cm/80 cm/53 cm arm length), so I think about size S, but won't the stack will be too high for me? I know I'am a long legged t-rex, but I am afraid, if I choose XS size, i can't reach my water bottle easily. I have the same problem with my present nongravel bike... Thank You!

      Hi there! When you're between sizes, we do recommend seeing your local dealer in-person if possible as they can give you tailored advice and you may be able to try both sizes to see how they fit. Smart Fit uses data from many different bike fits but it is only a guide.
      It is worth noting that the SILEX range does have a fairly large stack height across all sizes to give a more confident riding position off-road.
      We're sorry we can't be of more help!

      Hi there, while Smartfit provides an excellent starting point for knowing your frame size, please keep in mind that it is only a recommendation. We'd always suggest getting further feedback from your local MERIDA dealer if you're unsure which bike size would fit you best. Sorry we can't be more help here - you may find our dealer search function on our international website useful:

      It really depends on the handling you'd prefer - sizing up gives a more stable ride, especially in rough or steep terrain, but sticking with a medium generally results in a more playful feel. It's very much personal choice!

      Hi there,
      We have the SMARTFIT frame size advice tool on our international website (www.merida-bikes.com/en/p/service/smartfit-frame-size-calculator-407.html) which can give you a good indication of what frame size is right for you. Please keep in mind that they can only be a recommendation and that we suggest getting further feedback from your local MERIDA dealer to make sure.
      Hope this helps!

    I am looking to buy Merida Scultura Endurance 4000. When I put in my measurements into the calculator (height 177cm, in-seam 85cm, arm length 65cm) it recommends size M. However on the higher side of M. Do you recommend going with M or L?

    • @MERIDABIKES-INT
      @MERIDABIKES-INT  3 года назад +1

      Hi Arjun, that's very much a decision that's down to personal preference. Going for the larger frame size will provide a more stretched-out riding position and the longer wheelbase will give greater stability at speed. Conversely, opting for the smaller frame size will deliver a more upright riding position that'll put less stress on your lower back and make the bike feel more agile. There's no right or wrong answer we're afraid - thought it might be worth getting in touch with your national distributor to see if they can help you find a shop with bikes to try out in person - you can find a full list of distributors here:
