This shows that midi is an electronic form of the old organ books, here the proces is reversed, use midi files to punch the books. This certainly saves an immense amount of time, using a plotter instead of having to punch the books by hand.
I enjoyed his version of smooth criminal so much that I downloaded it and listened to it on a loop, this video answers so many questions I had. I'm so glad he did this, merci beaucoup.
Nowadays barrel organ is electronically imitated by demo of electronic keyboard to demonstrate the learners to play melody on keyboard (not only electronic keyboard but also organ and piano). Even some quartz clocks too electronically imitates the tunes played by barrel organ to mark the hours. Both electronic keyboard and quartz musical clocks contains electronically recorded and programmed circuit board of sound chips connected to speaker.
Yes, unfortunately somehow, probably due to it being found in old dictionaries copied onto some websites, the term “barrel organ” has persisted as a catch-all for all outdoor mechanical organs, even though it only truly properly refers to those organs (indoor and outdoor) which play from a pinned cylinder. The correct terms are street organ, band/fairground organ, or dance organ, depending upon the type of use and tonal scheme of the instrument. Some indoor cylinder instruments are known as “flute clocks”; chamber” barrel organs, “salon” barrel organs, or “orchestrions” depending upon their disposition and construction.
If you get the computer to automatically punch it out, even a long book can be punched out in a day or less, while the person has free time to do something else 😎
Is this wonderful tune available as a 31 tone paper roll for the Raffin gamma ? This song is urgently needed as i get my organ tomorrow and need a modern music bibliotheque in the future. I must admit that I like the modern pecussive style of Patricks musicsheets a lot
Different arrangers use different software. I don’t know what he is using in the video, but at least two programs are available especially for arranging music for automatic organs. One was developed by Melvyn Wright in around 1988(!) and is available from him on his website here. This software can only be used for instruments up to 64 keys/keyless: www.melright.com/busker/editor.htm Another is called “Noteur” has been developed by Piet Paarkedam in Netherlands, and is available here, together with a “partner” program called “MIDIBoek” which helps create print templates to attach over blank cardboard or paper for manually punching out cardboard books or paper rolls: draaiorgelweb.nl/software/ Finally, organ grinder Wallace Venable has a list of resources for organ arrangers on his website here: www.wallace-venable.name/mechanical-music/Resources-4-Noteurs.html
It's made by Odin organs in France, but I don't know the model name or number. It has 42 notes, is fully chromatic, and obviously is a cardboard book street organ with what look and sound like all flute-type pipes (no strings, and no reeds). There are both stopped and open flutes, ans also a small rank of brass piccolos (flauto traverso) in the lower center.
Brilliant!
yes, he is back and still a genius

🔥
Fascinating. However I should point out that it's a street organ. Barrel organs, oddly enough, have a barrel with pins to play the notes.

Dayı müthişsin yav.
Looks like a lot of work, but pretty dang neat. (Does all that hard work become a grind?)
Magnificent. (Can you do “Lovesong” by The Cure?)
I couldn't find the step where the card is precisely folded.
How do I get in contact? I would love to know more about the setup for making music like this.
The website is down, is their another way to contact Patrick ???
please hallelujah Cohen
lets see cut the card the old school way cad
And here im thinking me still recording cassette tapes in 2021 was obsolete...
Unlike magnetic tape, cardboard book and paper roll music does not tend to stretch, and since it's not magnetic, there's nothing to demagnetize 😃
Please new hits greet

Can you do bon Jovi, living on a prayer 👍
Always enjoyed listening to this musician 😁

How many keys are there?
I believe this is a 42-key fully chromatic street organ built by Odin Organs in France.
hmm put it with stirling engine and weve got automatic midi player without energy system :> .
There have been automated pianos in the past which where powered by vacuum engines.
@@greendragon8742 pianola isn't mobile on wheels or light itself to put it somewhere by hands :/ .
This guy could be earning crazy money from RUclips if he uploaded regularly.
Please, make a Toby Fox MEGALOVANIA for us!!!!
Im suddenly walking around Columbia´s sunny streets eating random things from trashcans

Hes showing the literal midi file he used prolly got it from a music production site of sorts u can get free midi files there all day
Hes showing him playing it he prolly got it from a his playing u can play free midi files there all day
He is creating the sheet.
I am pretty sure these arrangements are from scratch and not adapted from other people's MIDIs. The latter usually gets poor results anyway IMO.
wtf
Brilliant!
