UPDATE: Audio Assault should be releasing an update later today to address a few concerns brought up in this and other videos released today showing the Duality Plugin.
This level of customer service is unparalleled!

The update is absolutely fantastic! Better controls, easier to dial in tones, and an extra pedal was added!

Hey, Duality is mostly usable now! I was hoping the hi and lo comp would become similar to the Trace Elliot SMX, but the Duality 2-band comp is still ridiculously aggressive. Now the parallel pedal is useful though: Try the pedal fuzz preset with double track sim enabled on a send channel with stereo width reduced to 50%ish. It sounds very cool.

i have so much anxiety about singing if people are on the same planet i'm on while tracking, so oh boy can i empathize; but i have a real strong feeling Myk will do just fine and come across as a very competent vocalist, probably better than a lot of singers, even some pros. Confidence sure can be a little shit sometimes. You got this Myk! And thanks for taking us all the way through this process, it's been really fun & helpful!

Great video! Some of the best recorded bass tones of all time sound pretty lame when soloed. However, when heard in the context of a mix sound amazing. I think this is the reason that most people have a hard time getting a really good bass sound on recordings. This should be a very enlightening video to a lot of people. I just bought the Duality plugin on a "Black Friday" sale, and I've got to say, it's awesome. Thanks for all of the killer videos, and Happy Holidays.

Is there a follow up to this "series"? I think was one of the better song from scratch type video I've seen... Thanks!

Hey, one question. Is somehow possible to remove that sound of hitting strings or sliding strings? Just to leave that clear bass sound. Thanks for answer

I'm gonna give you the complete homer bass player answer here. While there's probably an Izotope plugin out there that can do these things, or spectral editing or something, you really don't want to remove those things. The grinding sound of the strings hitting the fretboard are part of my technique and style, and if you solo just about any bass track out there in a commercial mix, you'll hear the same. Once it gets into the mix it's not an issue at all, especially after adding some distortion. In fact, the distortion brings that out a bit helping the bass to cut through the mix.

i agree with @adamgrantella , who coincidentally played the bass on this video. As soon as you add compression to a stringed instrument's performance, the string noise and finger sounds will be amplified to a degree when you consider what the compression amount and make up gain. To my knowledge, the only real way to have a pure sound without those noises is to use virtual instruments or a synth that doesn't include the more human elements of bass playing
