    4 - DC1a (Klanghelm) or Molotok (TDR)

    I think I liked the Amek one the most actually, would be interesting to try a blind test.
    Your Reaper channel strip gave me an idea, do a similar "cut down" container based channel strip, with a mix of native Reaper and airwindows plugins

    Guys, I have checked this new Harrison mix bus on Plugin Doctor and the EQ curve is the same as a digital EQ in this case I use F6-RTA. I matched the curve of the Harrison mix bus with F6-RTA just by using my eyes and it's no difference. So I concluded that:
    1. This new Harrison doesn't emulate real analog distortion (its distortion sounds just like stock distortion)
    2. Its EQ is the same as Pro Q3 or F6-RTA, any digital EQ.
    Just my review, on this if you are about to buy it you could reconsider.

    (14:20) keepin it a buck, I'm wearing my Neumann NDH 20 cans, and they all sound the same. I mean, I guess it just boils down to an artist's taste. Do they like their mixes dark? Do they like it bright? I love bright and clear mixes with a little thump in the kick and 808.
    Also, I like the song that you used.

    Thanks for reminding me that the Harrison Classic Channel strip is included in my Plugin SSL/Harrison/Slate Complete subscription, and haven't really put it through its paces yet. I've got a mix I'm going to use them on today. Great video explanation of what you like about and I agree about channel strips bing a nice way to pack most everything you need on that channel. I've bee leaning a lot on the Lindell "80 Series Channel" in my Plugin-Alliance sub lately and it's a beautiful way to go. I like that you can skip to the next channel within the plugin that you have on another insert in your DAW. It's a nice way to jump parts your working on without having to close out the plugin, go to the other channel and open up that other instance.

    To do a multitrack recording for rehearsals, I can highly recommend it. You can practice mixing every time. We are lucky to have a room where everything is set up. Just boot the PC and we're ready to go. I generally don't use channelstrips. I simply chain plugins as I need them.

    Eee.. I do like what the PSP is doing. And from my brief test last night, I like the EQ on the Harrison strip. Regardless, great comparison. Thanks for sharing the knowledge! ✌ Sidenote.. I myself have taken a dive into incorporating more stock plugins (Logic Pro X) into my workflow in lieu of cutting some subscriptions and narrowing down the toolset.

    TBF, Worral (and Paul Third) were both talking about the Harrison +Channel Strip+ (VST), NOT the actual Harrison DAW (Mixbus).
    +MY understanding" is that there's no 'flavor' in the strip, but there's definitely flavor in the actual DAW.

    • @Rhuggins

      Its an old video on the old 32C channel. The DAW flavor is from the tape saturation and now there is the Jensen transformer on the input on the new versions of Harrison Mixbus.

    • @vigilantestylez
      @vigilantestylez 3 месяца назад +1

      This new channel strip is the 32Classic channel. Dan Worrall has not used this one or made a video about this one. This is a new channel strip.

    • @Rhuggins
      @Rhuggins 3 месяца назад +1

      @@vigilantestylez I'm talking about Mixbus. No I dont know, but it would be easily testable. Given their shady history and ad hominem BS attacks on Dan Worrall "show your face", I very much doubt their rigor and integrity with regard to analog modelling. This plugin particular was made in collaboration with SSL and I'm sure its at least decent

    Excellent Topic! (Worth a revisit ie Channel Strips and Why etc.). Another great question is WHICH plugin would you use B4 mix/recording, ie Tracking.......? I agree on the Tukan S2 (Very excellent tool, lacking a little in parameter width....BUT who wants to infringe on licenses.....(Great work by Mathews). Also, I recently purchased 32C because I want to bring tools to different DAWs sometimes beyond Reaper and Tukan lives only in my Reaps! - Great Vid! One final thought: As someone who switched away from PC, MAC to Linux, I appreciate Reaper, Harrison, Uhe etc. etc. for making these plugs available to the now burgeoning LINUX audio world.....Cheers! Also great Music!

    Well for the REAPER channel, got say it ain't happening. Flat and anemic sounding. I skipped to the same part being played cycling through the plugs and the biggest, obvious difference was Reapers compared to all, where all the 3rd party strips sounded more similar. The AMEK and Harrison were what I'd choose at least in that order. At least the retained the high end and mids better than the Reaper fog channel. Cool video

    I'm a fan of the notion that you can get a richer (more complex?) 'sound' by using different EQs, compressors, etc. on different tracks.
    Strips are obv. way faster BUT I think +I'd+ be losing something (a diversity of eq curves and compression colors) by using them.
    That being said.. that Tukan strip DOES look pretty enticing, lol.

    • @sparella
      @sparella 3 месяца назад +1

      Brainworx TMT does just that. It makes every channel slightly different, so you get both efficiency and variety.

    • @nilespeshay1734
      @nilespeshay1734 3 месяца назад

      @@sparella Ya, thank you (sincerely).. i'm familiar. I'm sure that works fine but I still like the IDEA of different EQ's.
      Even with a TMT EQ, I'm "stuck" with the same (repetitive) curves.
      All in all, I'm 99.9% positive that the differences are inaudible - esp. w/ my monitoring. BUT I'm kind of an idiot, lol.

I have 5 different sets of tracks from two different kits and trying to figure out the best way to set this up in Reaper to create a comp without losing my mind. Just wanted to know if I could pay you for a 30 minute consult to help me get this set up. If you're interested, let me know the best way to reach you without you posting private info on YT. I checked pro mix academy and don't see a contact form. Thanks
