- Charger Hood Upgrade, Killer Bee (Viper inspired hood). In this I will go over a bunch of questions & review the Killer Bee Hood by BMC Extreme Customs. This Charger aftermarket hood has a big hood scoop with 6 heat extractors on the side, which optimizes air flow throughout the engine bay. The best charger hood, let's find out.
If you are looking into a Demon, Viper or Killer bee hood for charger make sure to check out BMC Extreme Customs. I have no seen their Demon hood on both Charger & Durango and the fitment/quality was solid.

Silver _S16 you could always put a fine mesh bug screen under the vents to limit water from getting in as much. The water will bead on top of the screen. There is one easy to fix con down.

I suggest getting the srt cover for the abs control unit for purposes of keeping the water off of it. It's cheap. I did this when I went hellcat hood swap. I also designed a cover for my air intake that is interchangeable on rain and sunny days. I wish I could show you my air intake design on here. It's simply black Plexi and 90s

Well definitely enjoy hearing what's going on with fitment your hood looks like it fits better than my stock on my SRT8 but I have to say I still enjoy it love it looks like a good purchase maybe something I would look at. Thanks keep us informed😎

What I did about my intake is went to home depot and got a piece of lexan, cut out a piece slightly bigger in all directions and used a heat gun to bend and form it to the curve of the intake. Then got rubber sealer around the edges so it fit snug and made a water tight seal

You really shouldn't have to worry too much if it is just a small amount of water getting on the air filter element. Myself and every other gen 3 phase 2 Challenger driver gets a wet filter every time we drive in the rain. If you feel it gives you problems then address it by all means. I'm just glad to see a little satin black on that car LOL.
I really didn't get any water on my filter with this hood & the little mod that I did.
That looks like a gloss black, a satin black will not be reflecting like a still lake when you're out fishing.

It's a great looking hood! Looks really mean. I used a pre-filter to keep my exposed intake dry. Its a fabric slip that goes over the intake and let's air in, but keeps water away. Plus it comes in different colors to match your color scheme.
Yah I was looking into one of those - I need to have a custom one made because of the size of my filter.

Ok, the good and the bad! Love the look of the hood. What would be driving me nuts is the white underneath. I would go get some flat black spray paint and coat it. I think that would complete the look.

Waitaminit! We have some sort of windshield wiper spray? Damn son, I just drive faster and the bugs burn off the windshield from air friction.
It looks very nice, I liked the perspective from inside the car. I am definitely going with a satin black or whatever the modern equivalent to the AAR Organosol for my hood though. Keep up the good work brother!

I’m planning on getting a SRT HOOD for my 2014 charger RT and can’t decide to go with Amerihood or Trufiber. Any suggestions? Would appreciate it
Hood looks awesome. How much prep work on the hood was involved? I asked BMC and couldn't get a complete answer for just getting it wrapped vs. painting.
You don't need to prep it if you're wrapping it. Iconic has done this a bunch of times & said it would be just fine with the wrap put on it as is.
I run the VOLANT closed box with a Donaldson filter. Opening in the bottom like factory intake and the front side is opened up toward the headlight.
you will not run into issues with that intake - the vents will allow your engine bay to cool down quicker

But more importantly, did the hood help reduce your under hood temps, as well as the inlet air temp? Did your ECT come down at all? And where does the central ducting end up? Does it channel the fresh air directly over your air box?

I ran the windshield wiper hose to the front of the car, and filled it up with water. Cools down the ac in the summer quite a bit

Took my stock 5.7 from high 13’s to low 12’s. If not for this channel I may never have gotten into modding at all. He lays it all out, good and bad. Hey I just bought this hood. The upgraded one with the closed off side vents and has the ram air so water doesn't leak all over.
My question is. Its fiberglass so theres a rough texture. My vinyl guy said it won't hold because vinyl holds better/stronger on a smooth surface like a painted one. How did your hood arrive in? Same as mine and if so,.how long did the the vinyl wrap last without any lifting
Hellcats use an ABS cover because of the vents, you can get one on amazon pretty cheap

Had a question on the window washers....I want to remove them without breaking them....do they pull out...do you have to lift a tab to pull them out or push them through....most videos I see of hood removals or swaps usually speed through this step and don't show how they are removed....I saw were a few people broke theirs trying to get them put....I'm sure it's simple but just wanted to make sure before I break something lol

Having a new hood with vents with an exposed intake which I have is one of my nightmares, I don't water entering though the filter especially during washes.
I have a pretty solid solution for it. But there are 3-4 options that most end up doing. Very happy I ended up getting this though

It's going to be either a spray wrap or plastie dip. I do have something up my sleeve for handling that rain etc.

yah it's def not a big deal - a few solid solutions to fix that. I love it though
I'd love to know if it helps with the underhood temps ever since I put long tubes on my RT my driving temp has gone up 4 to 6 degrees and I was looking at this type of good or a Hellcat to help with that
What I have sound is idle is similar - once I start moving though even a light cruise it cools off much quicker.
Thats not a bad hood bulge. The same as my hood on my Super Bee, or my 392. So thats good to know.
yah it's not massive at all - looks so much better while driving (over my stock RT hood)

Would a aluminum hellcat hood fit my 2017 charger RT? Would it need pins or bumper swap?
Close the top of the air box I did that but I made a custom air box if it is not ported on the front of the air box or fender side you should port it before you put a top on your air box I will be making a video on my channel about my air box soon hope this is a solution for you

Yes this hood helps with engine bay temps - it cools off faster. Intake temps are lower while cruising.

yah I can shift it a little - would even it out a little. No dice on the hellcat. I would be the 4th owner in 4 years

No rattling to any issues - I've gone on the HWY & tested it a handful of times.

I would call them - sounds unusual. My experience has been positive with BMC but I wouldn't trust anyone with my credit card info.

I can't believe that the manufacturer didn't recommend or require hood pins! Every FG & CF hood I've looked at for my Chally has required hood pins. Perhaps cuz the hood is much longer on a Challenger? Have you noticed any wobble in the hood at high speeds?
No wobble or anything at higher speeds. This thing is perfect - def one of the better mods I have done. Very happy I did this

Don’t understand all the comments stating that it’s only good for summer? For rain or water to damage anything inside of your engine bay you would literally have to get a bucket of water and pour it over the electricals, rain and sprinkles of rain will never damage anything electrical I had a hellcat hood and went thru 2 winters with it days rain would pour down so hard and never had an issue

C’mon dude. I hope you didn’t pay for that hood? Why would you? With the amount of business they will get from you, they should be ashamed if they did charge you. As for the hood, I have a similar one on my Jeep, if that water sits to long in the inner parts of the hood it will start to eat away at it. I really hated trying to get the water out, and never really new if it was all out. Anyways, keep up the good work bro! I really enjoy the content.
