- With my RTT off my Gladiator I went out to get back to basics camping out of my hammock and cooking over the fire. No fancy tents or cooking setups this time. Just the basics in the rain.

Dude you hiked through that water for a good minute to setup the camera for that crossing shot. Great dedication
Its why I wear sandals all the time. 😂
My first thought exactly
I thought the same thing!
Thanks for the reminder that you don't need all the cool toys to enjoy overlanding.
Still one of my favorite videos because I'm new to all this!
Thanks!!
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures you bet. i cancelled TV and just finished building my truck, but eventually I'll be a Patreon supporter and see you on the trails :)
update to our previous post on our Global road outdoors tent we recieved it on 4-4-23 they made it right with us for taking so long
I think it is good to go "Back to Basics" once in a while. Keeps you sharp and helps you to appreciate all the fancy big ticket items.
I like the basics.
Hands down the most comfortable way to sleep in the woods. I would recommend snake skins to keep your tarp out of the mud:)
Love my MoonShade! I went to an event that had no awning or shade. So, I just pulled it out and clipped it to the chainlink fence! 🤘🏾😎🤘🏾
33 minutes into this video you were approaching a large puddle and it reminded me of the first video that I watched of yours...when you nosed the black JKU deep into that hole with the entire front end under water. Been watchin ever since.
Thanks!!
Thank you for my daily dose of relaxation. My wife and I are slowly building our rig and putting some gear together. Can't wait to get out there and experience it for ourselves. Also can't wait to visit the Ozarks one day.
My favorite video so far! Thank you for all of the beautiful footage of water crossings and drone footage. I love the way you are able to randomly stop and express your thoughts to your viewers. But best of all was when you casually pulled out that pop tart that perfectly matched your hair!
Looking at using kammock outpost for those long road trips where i don't want to stay in a hotel . Need 3-4 hrs of rest. Quickest way i know other than alum cab camper .
I am a hammock and tent in all weather kinda dude. This is right up my street. Loving this. Can't wait for your moab adventures. God bless
Was overlanding by Shores Lake recently and down past the spillway on Hurricane Creek I came across a tree still on fire from the burn. Got a good video of it.
Loved this. Really showcases that you can still have an awesome experience outdoors on a minimal budget. Thanks Matt!
Prescribed burns can get nutty back home in Florida. I've been on some of the back trails of the Osceola National Forest and had small patches of actively burning brush right next to the Jeep.
Love getting back to the basics!! Miss my time in the Ozarks, but love Colorado 😊
This is much closer to how I camp, but you still bring a lot more than I do in my TJ. I started years ago with motorcycle camping on my KLR and SV, where I learned how to pack light.
You have to pack super light in a TJ. lol.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures Compared to a KLR, the TJ is Glamping
GRACIAS! 🙃
Fantastic adventure!!! Thanks for sharing your experience. Looking forward to all that is on the way in the near future!!!!!
Great video! The sound of the rain is so peaceful
Looks like good turkey hunting woods.
Hi Matt, I like the duffel bag, sleeping bag and moonshade very cool. There’s something about rain that’s very soothing. If you like Jack Ryan and if you have Netflix check out The Night Agent. Loved the mud and water trails in this video. Caleb falls pretty cool. Thank you for the content 😊
Thanks Matt..
Thanks!
I bought an APL 55 after you talked about yours. Building an overland trailer from the ground up and I feel iceco is the best for the price and where things are on it.
Just finished watching your video we seen you were going to buy a new tent from global road outdoors good luck you may have set up a deal to promote but when we ordered ours on 2-9-2023 and he took the money out of the bank he told us he had two in stock and would ship it out on monday or tuesday its been a line of hearing nothing and excuses as of 3-25-2023 we still have no tent.
Wow those are good deals
min 35:33 beautiful cut 👍🏽
God: it’s a little over watered but it still looks amazing 😅
Oh thats my kinda camping.....cant wait to get out....
Another great video! Just wondering if you would let the viewers know if the trail you're traveling on would be good for pulling an off road camping trailer, and I haven't seen a video with you pulling your trailer. I know it makes for more challenges, but would be great information shared. All the best!
Great road trip! Now we want to know for all those river crossing shots, did you actually set up the tripod on each one? Then go back. Or did you magically get the drone out in the rain. That was a lot of retrieval of the camera while it was raining. We appreciate it.
It would be cool to have someone filming you as you film each trip. I don't think folks have any idea what goes into videos like this. Your story telling is so nicely incorporated.
And we started to think a wedge camper was going on the truck. Won't be long according to my magic 8 ball. 😅
Thank you again for taking us along.

Awesome as always man I think @Overlandxeploits with skip and a few others I rode in with I think may have been through that section 🤷♂️ but I could not tell ya as I'm still new to the map tracking and all that but looks as the rain made for some beautiful water sights
The alternate line comment kinda rubbed me wrong with the fact that parks and wildlife makes those alternate lines for their vehicles and if others have larger vehicles can take that line with no worries. My good friend who works for parks and wildlife does that all the time for precautions and forest emergencies. Also allowing larger vehicles to go through. So those lines “should” be there.
The alternate line in this video was not made by the forest service.
Awesome video 👍
Thank you 👍
Another cool video, love the country. Reminds me of eastern Pa. One question…did you let the Forest Service know bout the smoldering stumps?
Weather is playing havoc with outdoor activities here in Florida so I can only guess how you are doing up there..Great video.
Weather has been amazing in Florida? What are you talking about
@@heavyhitta52 it was a pun....lol
Alot less competition for good camp sites when you have that weather eh?😅
34:14 awesome
Dang I hate camping in the rain for sure!! Good job though. You were not worried about camping so close the river in the hard rain?? You should check out the Heaven lay flat tent hammock! Been using one for two years now and it’s awesome!
I had my Starlink set up so I was watching the radar. I new the rain wasn’t going to last much past midnight.
Hey Matt. You mentioned the new duffle and sleeping bag, but I couldn't find your hammock set up. I know you've had it for a while, but could you share again. TIA
I enjoyed this can't wait till next one, thanks Matt
Glad you enjoyed it
How do you keep water traveling down the strap used hold up your hammock from pooling into the hammock? Love your level of cinematography!
Thanks! Where the hammock connects to the strap breaks the stream and goes down instead of following along to the hammock
Hey! Thanks for all the content. Quick question I know you run Vision Wheels, and I'm looking at a set of those, but I wondered if you had any experience with rocktrix. I was hoping to save some on wheels to spend extra on my lift and tires.
I’ve never heard of Rocktrix
Thanks for the response. With as much as you are involved in the overland community, you not knowing means a lot. I'll stick with the known brands.
Hey what cover is that you are using to cover your bed of the truck really like it.
I just did everything you did as you did it except there was no rain. Did I do something wrong?
Great footage. cool adventure. as always a pleasure watching you go wheeling.
But I really have to ask... Why aren't you wearing a seat belt when off roading? I've noticed it in a bunch of your episodes.
Because I’m driving slow and constantly jumping in and out to set up cameras.
@Ozark Overland Adventures Makes total sense.
Looking forward to watching your next episodes. Keep on creating such great content.
Matt, I envy how many beautiful trails you have surrounding you. Here in Connecticut, we have really nothing at all. But here in CONNECTICUT, we have a pretty good university that I live about 20 minutes from. Not sure if you're heard of it? Most know it as UCONN. They play basketball there. 🏀
😂 😏 ❤
Never heard of it. 😂😂😂
I bet those trees burning were ash trees. They are cutting down trees infested by that invasive boring beetle and in order to keep the eggs in them from hatching they burn the trees.
Hi Matt, awesome video as always 🙌🏻. Wondering if you would be interested in selling your roof top tent. I heard you say you were getting a new one. I called James a few weeks ago and left a message about purchasing one, but haven’t heard back from him yet 😂. Thanks
It’s already spoken for.
Did you get boiling water from the tarp runoff. Lol. Great video. Where is the fire pit from?
Fireside Outdoor Pop-Up Fire Pit. It's awesome.
What trash bag are you using? I’m looking for one for my Taco. Have a Trasharoo on my FJ.
Question
If I don’t need all the fancy gear then why did god create all the fancy scenery 😮
What brand of chainsaw do you carry with you? Do you recommend it?
On the fence using brush deflectors... you do not?? Opinion?
All they do is move branches off the windshield. They do nothing to keep them off your paint.
Matt can I ask where you bought Goose from? We are in search for a Frenchie!
Breakfast with Frenchies in Hot Springs AR
🤔you must be headed out to Easter Jeep Safari in Moab?
We will leave before EJS.
Is your refrigerator waterproof or were you using a cooler this trip?
The fridge isn’t waterproof but it can withstand some rain.
I’m curious about the camp knife you are using to cut up your food. I’ve been looking for one similar to the one you have. What brand and model is it?
I'm wondering the same thing.
what is the name of the fireplace table ? Good video!! Thanks from Montreal QC
Pop Up Pit
Thanks
First of all..
Am I the only one when pulling those fiberglass poles outta a pocket like that.... that is like... "oh no..this is gonna snap..." and cringes super hard till it is out?
Secondly..
I saw you have a bag on the tailgate... any insight on that?
if there was a fire in that area that alternate line could have been made by forestry equipment and personal.
You’re right. Most forestry personnel depending on the vehicle they’re driving will make an alternate line for safety. And it’s perfectly okay for people to take that line. This is coming from someone who’s good friend works for parks and wildlife.
@@RamJamOverland I'm a volunteer firefighter of a small town in Southern Arkansas and we respond to all wildland fires in our area and depending on the size and/or location we call in forestry for assistance, and dozers show up and push lines around the fire and we use our brush trucks to assist them in containment and our other trucks for protecting individuals homes,if any are in the area.
That line was up a super steep hill and was created by people in SxSs being stupid. It was not created by the Forest Service.
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I was looking in the background of your shot. Couldn't tell anything about the hill. And forestry also use side by sides. Just commenting on your channel. Wasn't even disagreeing with you, because there are a lot of people that don't care and trash trails and make it where they get closed. And not everyone gets to see a burn zone.
Why not have a limb riserers? Just asking from a novice.
They don't do any good. They may lift some branches off the windshield but do nothing to protect the paint.
Where to get that knife u cut your food with
Where did you find the cooking attachment for your firepit?
It's a grill from a backyard firepit and I modified the pop up pit so I could use it.
Ok very nice, thanks
Excuse me but I'm bad in English and I didn't understand why the trees are burning?
Prescribed burn by the forest service
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures ah ok. Thank you ! ✌️
Hi can anyone tell me what the fire pit thing is called?
amzn.to/3TIoQVy
Thanks mate
The best part about camping in the rain?
You'll probably be alone and have your choice of where to camp.
I know what you do is fun , but for the amount of content you put out it got to get redundant .
I will say you are a beat ! Certainly a hard charger !
Enjoy all your hard work, thank you.
Thanks. I’m loving life!!!
Which ICECO FRIDGE is that? How does it handle being exposed to the weather? While driving and at camp how do you power it. I have a bunch of questions and real time users provide the best/ honest answers. Thanks
It’s the new APL55. It’s doing great!!
