Heilung speaks to your DNA. Maria is a representative of our great mother. When you hear her sing you hear our mother voice within our hearts. The fact that you were moved so means you heard the calling. Draw strength from this music and look within for this path leads to many things within you.
Heilung mean healing but there magic goes deep!

This band is amazing. Lyrically some of the deepest impactful music I've heard. The world would be a much better place if Heilung had the same coverage the top pop artists do.

you don't sound like a freak, you're spot on: lead vocalist Kai said: ""The listener is supposed to be left at ease and in a relaxed state after a magical musical journey that is at times turbulent"
there's something about these Norsk / Germanic tribal tunes that's so mesmerising.

In Maidjan, Alfathirhaiti, Fylgia Ear, Hamrer Hippyer. These songs by Heilung are absolutely incredible. They’re all live, just search RUclips for these songs plus “LIFA”. You’ll be absolutely mesmerized.

edit: if you sound like a weirdo, then so do i! being the warriors and weirdos, i suppose it's no surprise, and certainly nothing to be ashamed of. this music takes me to a different place when i close my eyes too, i believe it's what it's meant to do

yes, that song hits hard. i love this live version, it's from their first 'concert' by the way. but again, to get the context visualized, i suggest to see the video they made for it. an ancient 'cartoon'. thanks for your reaction.

Krigsgaldr - from the Old Norse, literally, "war magic". What Maria is singing is a lament for the loss of innocence of a village that has been attacked from outside and must go to war to defend itself. The chanted part is a warning to the invaders.
Almost forgot...yes, Maria is tapping real human bones; if I'm seeing them correctly, it's a radius and an ulna (the bones of the forearm). Traveling with those in their bags have caused the band problems at more than one port of entry.

Heilung is a fantastic band and I love your reactions to Heilung. Since you are so touched by this music, I can also recommend “Nytt Land”. Nyttland come from Siberia and consist of a married couple and changing members. mostly as a trio, but also with up to 5 band members. Her music is atavistic, dark (compared to Heilung), and shamanistic, consisting of clear vocals, throat singing (male and female), ritualistic drumming, instruments like Tagelharpa and more.
    Nytt land recommendations:
    Ritual (Musicvideo)
    Nord (Musicvideo)
    Ragnarok (Live "Ritual" 2021)
The Fires Of Ragnarok (Throat Singing Playthrough)
    Greetings from Germany

Heilung is something special. It touches you with an intensity that you don't expect, and it echoes through you on a deeper level that you may not have been aware of. Like a place, an ancient place, within you hidden behind the briars and hedges far past the boundaries of the banality of modern life.

Yes! This is what I was trying to describe at the end. I feel like it connects me to a deeper part of me that I do not know, but know exists.

@@TheRealMommaOG ...and yes, myself and I know a lot of others get really emotionally invested in the music. When I first heard Krigsgaldr I though it was silly but the rhythm just stuck in my head, it simply moved in and claimed a part of me. You seem to be taking this journey at about the same phase of life as I am, enjoy!

I'm sure you probably know by now, but this song and the album it's from details the story of a peaceful village that is dragged into a war against their will. Their songs on this album detail the darkness and trying to handle the aftermath for that village.
One of my favorites from them is Traust, the live performance from Red Rock. They show a ritual in the video that is entrancing.
Your reaction to them is my reaction too. It's a spiritual awakening that speaks to the memories in our blood and bones. It speaks to the memories of the land of my ancestors, a land that I have never gotten to walk, but that I can still feel echoes of. I hope they come back to the states.

It's love. *Heilung's given me (through Krigsgaldr) is a new perspective of it. What Heilung nail (to me) is how important it is to extend it as far as possible. Yes, there's limits to that "reach" but we should all treat each other as brothers and sisters for as long as humanly possible. We all want peace and understanding. Your "enemy" included.
You've got your heart in the right place, Momma. Thank you.

youre not a weirdo Momma. heilung just does that. as an adhd inflicted individual, i have tried and tried to meditate, and i have only truely reached the point of meditation once. after that, i never tried again. not due to laziness, but bc of what it showed me in my dreamstate was a bit much. so much effort to relax (lol, what an oxymoron) showed me things i was unsure about. but as i got older, i think i understand what i saw. but it took me years to figure it out. if i tried that daily, and succeeded, i'd have 7000 years worth of weird to translate and figure out lol.
    TLDR
these are the sounds of my people, and they always put me at calm, even when harsh vocals disrupt the beautiful trancelike state. they are singing the songs of my people, as close as they can be sung.

I heard you talk about meditation and that you try to do it when feeling anxiety. I would recommend that you do it regularly as it helps to calm the body and soul and helps us connect to our spiritual self. Search for a guided meditation, you can even find it on youtube, do breathing exercises and practice. It will open your mind and help you heal old wounds 🙏
