- Hey guys! This video took.... WAY LONGER THEN IT NEEDED TOO! Me, LGCrusader, and Staiven started making this video back in July and worked on it through September. I basically had all the components to finish the video but got busy working on my book that it laid dormant for awhile, but now it's finally done and I hope you all enjoy!

I would say instead of Olimar, put the Captain in the game. We have both Mute City and Big Blue, just add the Captain there and people will cope that F-Zero is now just part of the Mario Kart franchise

Starbunny is indeed cute, but not exactly the kind of character built for racing.
Personally, I'd added Shy Guy in place of Baby Luigi, and then added Toadsworth in place of Baby Daisy, cause who wouldn't wanna drive as Toadsworth, the one and only adorable shroom grandpa
This is my fix for each Mario Kart game:
*SNES & N64: Keep the same
*GBA: Replace the random with Kamek
*GCN: Replace Paratroopa with Dry Bones
*DS: Replace ROB with either Shy Guy or E. Gadd (who was originally planned to be in the game)
*Wii: Replace Baby Daisy with Shy Guy, replace Mii Outfit B with Petey, and add 2 more bottom row slots (Toadsworth for Small and Hammer Bro for Medium)
*3DS: Replace Metal Mario with Waluigi
*Wii U:
Replace Metal Mario, PGP, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Baby Daisy, Baby Rosalina, Link, the Villagers, Isabelle, and the Inklings with Kamek, Hammer Bro, Pauline, King Bob-omb, Nabbit, Chargin' Chuck, Birdo, Monty Mole, Petey Piranha, Funky Kong, Dixie Kong, and Diddy Kong
I would replace Honey Queen with Metal Mario

I honestly don't like the idea of non-Mario characters in Mario Kart. So this is how I would fix these rosters:
Super: Replace Donkey Kong Jr with Donkey Kong
64: Keep the same
Super Circuit: Replace the random with Koopa
Double Dash: Replace Paratroopa with Dry Bones
DS: Replace ROB with Shy Guy
Wii: Replace Baby Daisy with Shy Guy, replace Dry Bowser with Hammer Bro, replace Mii Outfit B with Petey Piranha
7: Replace Metal Mario with Waluigi, replace Lakitu with Bowser Jr, replace Honey Queen with Diddy Kong
8 Deluxe: Replace Metal Mario, Pink Gold Peach, Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, Baby Daisy, Baby Rosalina, Dry Bowser, Link, the Villagers, Isabelle and the Inklings with Cackletta, Fawful, Hammer Bro, Pauline, King Bob-omb, Nabbit, Luma, Dimentio, Princess Shroob, Antasma, Professor E Gadd, Diddy Kong and Funky Kong
I really like your roster, but just out of curiosity, why don't you want to keep Dry Bowser? I love Dry Bowser! I find it really stylish! (Without judging you, of course.)

I would’ve had 2 more character pairs for Double Dash. King Bobomb and Gooper Blooper, and Cranky Kong and King K Rool.

R.I.P to the goat DK Jr. Bro was disrespecting a character who hasent seen the spot light in decades and in his debute was added purley as a legacy pick ,and because dk jr was easier to make, but you added star bunny, no hate but i find the idea of star bunny eriving pretty funny.
I feel like dk jr deserves that sad spot in super Mario kart, he may be irrelevant beyond all belief, but in arcades and on the previous console he had been playable more times than DK and had also been much closer to Mario’s size, as DK use to be a giant ape bigger than bowser.
I do feel like it’s criminal that Toadette wasn’t removed. She was invented for double dash and toadsworth was right there.

Just a random thing to point: If Koopa is replaced with Bowser Jr., would Wario be a starter character in MK7? He was an unlockable in that game (for some reason) and the starting roster was meant to replicate SMK with Donkey Kong thrown in.

Removing Dry Bowser from Mario Kart Wii made the roster 10 times worse. You could have Geno and Mallow as lightweights instead

I disagree with the removal of Dry Bowser.
He’s a representative for NSMBDS in the same vain as Rosalina is for Galaxy.
Also only looking at Wii content for MKWii is odd. A better view would be time in general, allowing DS content that missed the boat in MKDS to get another chance, plus MKWii’s whole aesthetic is mainly based on NSMBDS and Galaxy.

Its always funny how people on reddit post there ideal roster and mostly remove all crossover characters. I can guarantee if nintendo has any knowledge of marketing and I believe they have, crossover will be a staple for future mario kart games. people who play mario kart get convince to try other nintendo franchises. People who play other franchises get convinced to play Mario Kart. They sold me to splatoon 2 with this game and earned like 200 bucks just from me. Its really cool concept aswell and opens up new possiblities. I really wish to drive on a splatoon themed course, since the world is interesting. eventually we could get a pokemon themed course aswell? Then we could actually see how a Pokemon World would look like with more then 1 tree per square kilometer.
Honestly they just would rather characters from the larger Mario universe be added. Like in a MARIOKART game as cool as it'd be to have Kirby it'd loose alot of the charm of being a Mario based spinoff. Like just add Dk Country, Luigis Mansion, RpG, and WarioLand/WarioWare characters instead other nintendo reps.
I kind of get why there's a metal mario and a pink gold peach, because it seems like the intention was to have a mario and a peach for every weight class. (Well, broadly speaking anyways, as 7 actually introduced the "feather" and "cruiser" weight classes and 8 has more of a weight spectrum and doesn't seem to care much about balanced distribution but, alas.) Because they have a unique weight class and voice lines though, they can't really be determined as skins since those seem to be some of the defining things separating characters. Animations also separate characters, which is why Tanooki Mario and Cat Peach are unique slots. I can't justify them as much though since they're in a relatively similar weight class to their original counterparts, so I think we could have done without them having unique animations honestly.
Another point to be considerate of is like, there's a pretty big gender imbalance in gaming in general, and this effects mario kart's roster as well. The reason Toadette and Baby Daisy/Baby Rosalina were even created was to try and pad out the roster with more women because there simply wasn't enough in the beginning to make things feel even. Because of this, even though I think Toadsworth joining would be cool, Shy Guy is pretty iconic, and I have a massive personal bias towards bunnies, I can't ENTIRELY justify removing Baby Daisy for either in Wii. My alternative proposal however, is to do the same thing they did with Funky Kong and pull a representative from the wider Mario universe: In particular, I think Ashley from Wario Ware should have been the 8th small character. Not only is she an absolute darling in the fanbase but it opens the door to more Wario Ware characters or even general Wario characters down the line, which also would help the amount of girls in the series since characters like Mona or Captain Syrup are pretty well received and have a lot of personality. (Mona even drives a moped that could be added as a kart.) This wouldn't even be out of turn for the series to reference Wario brand games, as Wario's kart in Double Dash!! debuted two years prior in Wario Land 4.
Other than those points and some more minor nitpicks, I think this video was pretty good! I know I went on kind of a text wall tangent, but I wasn't really trying to sound like I was scrutinizing things too seriously, as I feel like the overall video was pretty solid and I especially appreciated the way you respected weight class balance and tried to analyze relevancy instead of just throwing in whoever you personally wanted exclusively every time.
There's no reason to have 4 or 5 Mario and Peach instead of having more character choices! Instead of these useless characters, we should have had more appreciated characters! Like Fonky Kong, Petey, Diddy Kong, Kamek, King Bomb-omb and other characters! It would make a more varied roster and not an illusion of choice!
@@SuperPlacido1 No matter what mario and peach are at least going to get a bit of favorite treatment, it's kind of unavoidable. I don't think it's inherently bad to include these alternate variants, but it becomes a problem when you get a situation like base mario kart 8 where the only newcomers were PGP, the koopalings, and baby rosalina. Now that the booster course pass is adding a lot of fan favorites the roster's looking alot more balanced already

Funny you say that! The original version of this video had a full set of real life skits filmed. The plot basically followed me getting challenged to a race against a gang called the Kiddy Kong Crusaders and it was me and my friends driving around town. I was super proud of the script, but due to time constraints, I couldn't get all of it recorded like I would've liked to.
