I’m not sure if it was pointed out or not, but the slower English parts are actually in the game. The bards in the taverns sing it. Also, the vocal harmonies are iconic to the Skyrim music as well, including Eli’s high notes. They were very much on point there. The other part is the intro to the game, as you’re aware. The Fus Ro Dah shout is a power you gain in the game, very powerful moves you learn and need to obtain dragon souls to use by slaying the dragons.

Love Voice Play. Their choices make it work for all types of people. You liked THIS one, but there are reasons they feature the highs and the lows and many of us look forward to them "going crazy" with it. Blending all the time can be good. BUT IT ISN'T the ONLY way to do it. Hoist the Colors is about men going to DIE, it is SUPPOSED to portray all that broken but fearless emotion. You don't do that with "blend". You weren't listening very well to Hoist the Colors if you missed that Jose Rosario and Cesar were right there under Eli but letting him shine. You do you, but if you can't handle Voice Play, that's on you, dude. Everyone has a preference.

It's a matter of opinion and likes and dislikes. I love everything they do, in every genre. The only one I had a problem with initially was If I Were A Rich Man, I found it disturbingly different from the song I knew and loved, even though it was brilliantly done. But it grew on me. The more you watch their videos you more you see in them, they're too complex to catch everything first time.

That's the same for me. If I Were A Rich Man is one of the songs I don't like. But that doesn't matter. There a lot of bands I only like one song and Voiceplay has so many song I really love.

I agree! And throwing shade on one video because an entirely different one was too complex is just silly. He likes this one but kept qualifying that like with comparisons about how he didn't like the other. If you like something, like it. If you don't, don't. But coming into something with low expectations will only color your perception of it, and negatively affect those listening to the commentary. It really takes away from the reaction, and does neither the reactor nor Voiceplay any justice.

The new fellow is Cesar DeLaRosa. And The Dragonborn Comes IS in English throughout the game. The bards sing it in the taverns. This is a mash up between that and the title theme which is sung in Dovah.
Also: The studio in question is Pattycake Productions. It’s owned by Layne and Tony - who was also in Voiceplay at one point. Tony can be heard on their version of Phantom of the Opera.

    Hello,
As I do not know on which video you will read this message, I allow myself to put it to your discussions, which I found, concerning your "problem with voiceplay", from what I understood, and which I respect
I hope I am not mistaken about my speech in relation to what I have understood.
I am French and so I may have misinterpreted the substance of the discussion.
First of all, people tend to want to totally compare groups that necessarily have differences. Often the groups themselves do not go that far. Sometimes they are not even aware of the conflicts made behind their backs. Then, the majority of people almost 100% were formatted by the way of singing. Everyone got used to raving about the high notes. The group or individual is good, if it gives the high note as the original. Contests like "X factor" or "the voice" are examples. All singers have become clones.
You have to do Maria carey, withney houston, adele, the songs are the same (chandelier, alleluia, scorpion (still loving you), the house of rising sun...). All over the world it is like that. And the judges are the same! People scream when the singer manages to get out the note that everyone would like to give in their bathroom.
From what I understand, you say that pentatonix or home free and other acapella bands sing a melodic line and do not extravagance as voiceplay that will give at some point a very serious ours. Your famous "boom!"
But where there is a problem, with this way of seeing, is that you endorse the fact that the trebles that are "boom" upwards, do not bother you. Like the majority, you have become accustomed to the treble that would be spectacular; on the other hand, a serious note: it would be superfluous. The deep voice should only be there to accompany others but not take the 1st role. Well tell yourself that the low note is the treble. She has the right to arrive when you don't expect it, when she wants to, and as many times as she wants. There are fewer people able to give a real our bass than treble. Everyone sings in the treble; even men have emasculated voices. So let the manhood express itself a little bit.
Then we like it or not.
We need a paradigm shift. Regarding the performances of accapella bands who often come back to face with voiceplay work. Voiceplay offers you several choices, some of which are not within the reach of others. They don't sing to just put their voices forward and bow out. Voiceplay does not hesitate to put the means to make their videos and invest in the sets and costumes to make a beautiful show. Know that they also share with groups and make their means available.
    1) If you want to stay in a pentatonix or home free or rockapella atmosphere and others (without having a boom and disguises)
    Listen:
    *tennessee whyskey
    *Rich man/Girl
    *I will survive
    *Superstition
    *Fantom of the opera
    *The greatest showman medley
    2) If you want tunes with sets and costumes to give more atmosphere and highlight even more the human voice
    Listen :
    *Hoist the color
*Oogie boogie song (surely Tim burton or Disney had to contact them, because it is the only band to have been able to stage characters vocally and scenically and not only the bass (Geoff Castelluci) the best in the world to represent beetle juice, the joker and other skeleton with its real deep and ringing voice. The other basses do not have this power and even the stage playing)
*My mother told me (the bass is there to show that this is war or a time when you have to galvanize the troops. It symbolizes the drum, the sound of the low horn. Would you have wanted a flute? Voiceplay wants to make their song feel the essence of what he sings and the other bands almost listen to each other sing.)
    *Little mermaid
    *The grinch
    *friend of the other side
*the dragonborn comes (once the song is over, the heroes go to fight and are not there standing to admire them)
    3) and finally listen to the bass, Geoff Castelluci, in registers (the other basses try to do the same, but it's incomparable. He is the only powerful one who reasoned with real bass). He puts humor even in the cavernous airs and does all the voices and incredible video editing alone.
    Listen :
*The house of the rising sun (always sung high, finally a little deep voice for a serious situation. The "boom" are his high notes)
*Sisteen toons (do you think it should be sung with flowers in hand or with a certain virility? The boom that sometimes seems to bother you is the high note of the bass.)
*Far over misty mountains cold. In the film, the dwarves will face a dragon; some will give their lives, do you think it should be sung like a church choir or dressed in a neon jacket sitting on a sofa?
If you had to fight a dragon, you would go with the version of a Geoff castelluci or that of tim foust and peter hollens without counting the others?
That's what I wanted to share. Then everyone listens to what they want, but we must not compare what is not and think about music differently. Just because the majority wants to copy the accessible doesn't mean it's the right one. Out of 100 people we will find a large percentage that can give treble less clean but never a low note. There is the head voice for the high note but never for the low.
    That is what I believe.
    Have a nice day.

    de France

They have fun with the theatrical videos and do them pretty well. It makes them more interesting than 5 dudes just standing their singing. I liked 'Hoist the Colors', especially since there really weren't any other good versions of the full song. This was very well done though I'm not as much a fan of the song itself. There's a lot more balance in this and their other newer work between Geoff's bass and the other singers with them getting to shine as well. Eli has noticeably gotten better over the last year. He didn't used to use much in the way of vocal fry and now he does when it makes sense.

I’m glad you liked this. Funny thing: I love Eli’s gritty voice hitting those high notes. A lot of reactors stop when he does that and note that he could front a metal band. To each his own. I will admit when I first heard them the drops sometimes put me off. I got used to them, and then I started liking them. Geoff can do something pretty spectacular, so hey, I’m there for it. LOL. Anyway in this, those arpeggios he was doing at that one point just floored me. I’ve heard him do other things that require some vocal agility but that’s pretty hard to do. Great reaction, and thanks for trying again. I don’t know what all else of theirs you’ve heard and honestly I don’t want you to ruin them for me so I’m not going to go check it out. Sorry. LOL.

@@ITDOESNTHAVETOMAKESENSE that’s sort of true. But be honest. If you’re listening to something and enjoying it, and someone next to you cringes and points out what sounds to them like a false note, you start to listen for it, right? At least I do. If I like it I don’t really want anything to mess with that. I really do like the grit Eli sometimes puts in his tenor (which I actually think has more to do with the characters he’s playing-he goes for a more strongly edgy sound when he’s playing pirates and Vikings than when he’s playing the guy in Little Mermaid Medley, for example). So why would I want to listen to someone else complain about it?

The thing about how much Geoff is utilized, is by who is arranging the song. If Geoff does the arranging it's like this song, not over used. If Layne is arranging the song Geoff gets used a LOT. Hoist the Colors is an example of Layne's arrangement. Also note it is a "Pirate" sea shanty song, so it's not meant to be perfect either. It needs to have some rough edges.

The word's odd but not inaccurate, considering that the tavern bards only sang and Malukah added a simple guitar part to the arrangement for her cover. Which you can hear Voice Play emulate at the beginning and end of the song. She also arranged and did the complex harmony leading into Dovahkiin (edited parts similar to Geoff's solo work), which with Voice Play we hear in a desync'd or offset style through the build-up, until they sync together at the crescendo. It's really cool to hear a cover of a cover that still manages to bring their own style and take on the arrangement.
