I'm a bit late to the party but *goddamn* your reactions are legit. I thought at first you're playing it up for the camera as many do, but you seem to be legitimately impressed and a fan of the music, and that no joke put a tear to my eye at the end. Good on ya Mortius keep doing what you're doing
There is nothing more enjoyable to watch than a reactor losing their freakin' mind over a piece of music. Especially on something like this- Geoff has seriously been knocking them out of the park lately! While I'm no gamer, I have loads of respect for the music composed for them, which is often amazing and unfortunately seldom heard outside of the games. So until this dropped, I'd never heard this particular piece of music. And while I can't say I was as deeply connected to it as you (and many other reactors I've watched who played this game), it still manages to be an epic piece, deeply stirring even without the context. But your reaction, with your connection to the game, was so much fun, and it was truly wonderful to see the joy on your face as each new element unfolded. These guys are treasures, every one.
I've heard several covers on RUclips, and apart from Erutan (aka katethegreat 19) ruclips.net/video/DpcXr5LtsYA/видео.html they all use the same lyrics
It was totally fun to watch his reaction. I watched it several times. LOL! If you ARE a gamer, the newest online Elder Scrolls rocks just as much, if not more.
You can always tell the Skyrim players who react to this video. That Fus Ro Dah is so powerful it even knocks them back and you always see the surprise on their faces that it was added to the song. Other reactors who have never played have no idea what those words are, they assume it's a normal part of the song. Hey, this is Voiceplay, I'm not surprised at anything they do these days. :)
So much fun to watch you! I'll be honest, I'm NOT a gamer. However, my brother is and he played Skyrim some in highschool, so I was vaguely familiar with the music. (When your room is right next the den, you quick learn which game is being played solely based on the soundtrack you're hearing.) SERIOUSLY. I get chills every time I listen to this! And I don't even know what half of the words mean! THAT'S the power of good music!
As for Omar fumbling with the arrow, I think this is what happened: you may have noticed that at the beginning he has a quiver with some arrows on his back, and is playing with an arrow in his hands. Then he's out of frame for a while, then when the image comes back to him he seems to pull an arrow half out, then push it back. I think that just before that he was trying to put in the quiver the arrow that he has previously in his hands, but it became snagged before going in all the way so he pulled it part out again, and then managed to push it in the quiver all the way.
@@stormdancer0 you've got it, two scene cuts prior, he's holding the arrow near the center, the next he's returning it to the quiver, but requires two movements to set it fully.
My son works for the company that makes Sky Rim! He recently had a vocal audition for the next video game's soundtrack and he was chosen! He and the company are very excited about it! 🤗💕

Omar Cardona was a featured singer on VoicePlay versions of “Carry On My Wayward Son” and “Superstition”. You could review them if you’ve already heard them before. This WAS another one like “Hoist The Colors”. This is epic fantasy which I enjoy even though I’m not a gamer. What you didn’t see in the title is that it doesn’t say FROM Skyrim. It says Dragonborn Comes Skyrim. It’s another VoicePlay mashup. This is Geoff’s arrangement so he got to determine the parts. I love his arrangements. Thanks for your reaction. Take Care
I have been waiting for this reaction SPECIFICALLY since the day after the original video released. Edit: I just noticed that Geoff doesn’t say the Unrelenting Force shout… Probably because it would destroy the set, so good call I guess.
If you've ever tried to put an arrow into a quiver full of arrows, you know that sometimes it doesn't go in smoothly. When that happens, you have to pull it out a bit and try again. Omar was trying to put it away, but it was being stubborn. 😆 Good job on your reaction. Was fun watching you!
If you watch closely he has the arrow in his hand at the start of his solo, then cuts away, then cuts back and he has put it halfway in and is continuing to put it away. He doesnt pull it out then back in, just slowly puts it away
You can see Omar holding the arrow in front of him at the start and as you observed he was trying to put it back into the quiver when the camera catches him. And you are right about it catching and having to pull it out a little and re insert it.
The little pause and fangirl giggle .01 seconds into Geoffs opening note is just PERFECTION. Accurate depiction of the entire Geoff and VP fanbase 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm sorry. I'm gonna have to rewatch this one. You had me laughing too much throughout. I knew from their early Patron release what Geoff was up to. As soon as you paused it on his opening sub, I thought to myself 'Just wait.', in fact I think this may have been a gotcha gift from Mr. Bass⁴. He's been catching all the reactors off guard with it. I had a ball watching you nerd out to this, and I'm not even familiar with Skyrim. I think my son may have played it years ago but not sure. Voiceplay always seems to prove that you don't need to stick to any particular musical lane. They take a piece from a movie, video game, pop genre etc., etc. that has a good sound and just blow the roof off it with their arranging. (They're not all perfect, of course, but each piece is objectively vocally musically well executed). Omar Cardona (he had the arrow out at the top of the scene, I think it was just an unclear edit, but he was trying to put it in his quiver so he could hit his next staging mark) has featured with them before, in "Superstition" and "Carry on Wayward Son". His brother EJ is in Voctave and has also featured on their "Go the Distance". Tell Mason he's messing with my OCD!🤐🤪🤪🤪
I think I’m weird because I’m not as impressed when Geoff sings super low as I am when he sings really high. I think it’s because his speaking voice is very low so I’d think those are easier for him.
That was one of your best reactions ever! Having the game experience coupled with the music experience made Mortius' brain go bye bye several times. Hilariously so!

4:30 Omar didn't take the arrow halfway out and put it back in. He had it in his hand, he put it halfway in his quiver, reached up for a higher grip on the knock, and put it in.
As soon as this came out from Voiceplay, I have been patiently waiting for your reaction to this. Being a fellow gaming geek I knew you would be as excited as me and my family to watch this. Thanks for mentioning the sound of the sword being drawn at the very beginning. I've listened to this version repeatedly AND at least a dozen "reactors", but never noticed the sword sound!!
I'm a big fan of this song, though I know nothing about the game that this song is apparently based on. But I have to say that this person reaction to it.. just brighten up my morning. I was smiling all the way though at his reaction. And I was correct in supposing that he would be surprised at "Fus ro dah"; which made watching this even more enjoyable. Thank you for sharing your reaction, it really made my morning to see someone so happy.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Skyrim and have been playing ever since it came out. This....THIS brought me to tears. I recently had to move and have no room for my computer setup. No Skyrim for a year now and I am sooo homesick for Whiterun. They did an amazing job and so did you. I loved your analysis in the first half, but I LOVED! your reaction in the second part. Especially listening to Dovakin and hearing the Shout Fus Ro Dah! Thank you for being a lover of Skyrim and of VoicePlay. Thank you.
This was so fun! I loved watching you nerd out when they switched songs. As always, your explanations help me understand the arrangements better. Thank you!
Except for maybe when qofy lost his pants, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a reaction more. No... I like this more. I so look forward to your reactions to vp. Thank you for geeking out to it
I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed your reaction. I was giggling and grinning the entire time watching you watch them. VoicePlay is my absolute favorite and they just keep getting better. My whole family has been listening to this on repeat. My 7 year old daughter announced to me that Omar is her Angel of Music and she loves him. Thank you for making my day!
Hi Mortius! I just had to say that I really, REALLY enjoyed your reaction/analysis of this one. I am new to your channel but am a lover of VP. Your excitement makes me want to learn Skyrim to play. LOL I'm a choir kid and have enjoyed your breakdown of their chords, syncopation and of course your appreciation of the talent and art of VP or great music. Keep it up, please.
I think the word or rahter words are "mind blown". I don't know the game, but this blows my mind every time. Chills. I know that gamers get the most out of it but those of us who aren't gamers still enjoy it hugely.
Shhhhhhh Mortius- If I need a little pick-me-up, I pull up this reaction!!! It is absolutely impossible to keep a smile off my face watching you react to this. Thank you!
This is one of my fav Dragonborn reactions. I grew up with Skyrim and Halo and now they have done both covers. Dragonborn is basically a mix of Hoist the colors, Halo, and My mother told me in one which is amazing and just EPIC! I’ve been listening to Dragonborn Comes on repeat and have it memorized. My a cappella group might do there arrangement one day who knows. Love you (platonically) and love Mason (platonically) 🥰😊😉❤️
Great reaction, thanks! Re: the arrow.... If you look again, in the first shot, they're working with their weapons. Layne is sharpening his sword, Omar is fletching an arrow. I think he was replacing the arrow in his quiver and it got hung up on another arrow, so he needed to pull it partially out and then replace it.
The second half of this video was totally me when I first listened to this song. 😅 I'm a huge Elder Scrolls fan, and I've recently restarted Skyrim after several years. I feel you, friend. I totally geeked out at the start of the Dovakiin song too! Loved watching your reaction! 😊
No, it's not ridiculous; you're fine. I was welling up right from the beginning bc it's so moving & hyper nostalgic. And when they got to "FUS RO DAH!", a tear silently slipped down my cheek💙 I enjoyed your reaction very much bc I don't have anyone to share this with... altho my son may yet come into fold as he grows.
Omar and the arrow: Omar had the arrow in his hand at the start. 27 sec in. He is putting it away, it gets stuck, he adjusts, and puts it in so his hands are empty when they stand.
Mortimus... love this reaction! My favorite by far...VP has broken many a reactor and you in such shock and awe was priceless! Best to you and your wife ❤️❤️
There is a translation of Dovahkinn online and even here on RUclips. They are singing basically "dragonborn, dragonborn defeater protector. You your protection we pray." It isn't fully accurate but that is what they are saying in dovahzul.
I've been watching your reactions and analysis videos for a while now, ever since I discovered voiceplay and Geoff myself. Gotta say that I haven't had this much fun in a long time. Seeing you literally toss your headphones down and walk out had me rolling. Keep up the fantastic content. Love it!
It took me a little while to get to this reaction/analysis. As always, it is so infectious to watch your enthusiasm. As others have mentioned, Omar Cardona has multiple features with Voiceplay but he also comes from a talented family. Omars brother is EJ Cardona of Voctave. Could you imagine the two of them singing together. I think my head would actually explode.
I absolutely love your reactions!! The way you looked at the camera when Geoff came in! ❤ I knew you would lose your mind when they threw in Fus Roh Dah! ❤ Awesome as always!
Hey Mortius, I' m not into Skyrim at all, but of course i love Voiceplay. But your reaction show me, what this mashup can be for someone who love Voicplay AND Skyrim. I enjoy this masterpiece with you 1000000% more, then listening it alone. Love your reactions:)
SO SO GOOD!! Loved your reaction. :-) I'm NOT a gamer, never been, never played video games. YET, this thing makes me emotional EVERY SINGLE TIME I listen to it, and I can easily cry when I watch it. No, it's not ridiculous. :-) And you know what? You're the first one that I watch react to this that notices the way they end it. That sudden "booming" stop in the moment in which they "step on" with plenty of energy... It makes me jump from the seat and wear my armour and sword. You said it's a "call to action", in the game, right? Well, it IS. :-) The credits... They made me think of the credits you'd find on Frank Zappa albums, like... "Steve Vai: impossible guitar parts - Napoleon Murphy Brock: vocals, madness and crazy stuff" and so on. :-D I was waiting for your reaction. Worth the waiting. :-) Can't wait the next one.
How have I missed your reaction to this?! I'm an old D&D, Skyrim, and WOW Player. Who knew you loved Skyrim!? Okay geek out over! But I love that I stumbled on your reactions!
I always we as performers sing songs to evoke emotions and memories. Watching you unapologetically geek out in reaction to this offering from VoicePlay was a heck of a lot of fun! Thanks for being you!
I have watched multiple reactions to this song and I have to be honest. Yours is the most genuine reaction to this and I love it. Subscriber for life my man. Keep up the great work.
Loved your reaction. Loved the song. Not a gamer myself but love fantasy & have heard other versions of this. You don't have to apologise for being a geek. This reaction brings as much pleasure as the actual song. Many reactors have been similarly moved & you are in great company.
I commented pretty much the same thing on What It Do Dave's react video to this song and I stand by it: it makes my heart happy seeing how happy this song makes you ^_^ just.....so much unbridled joy ^_^
I've watched you on occasion before and liked your videos. The reaction to this one here, however, is the one that made me subscribe. Not just your knowledge of Skyrim (which is a game I love, along with ESO, especially since I have like 3,600 hours in that game :P ) but the musical knowledge. I'll definitely be watching you in the future. :D
I've watched your reaction like 5 times now just to see your joy and excitement on this. Not too many reactors caught the sword sharpening at the beginning.
Been watching Mortius' reactions for a while but this one definitely convinced me to subscribe. This man is positively giddy over this cover and I am here for it. Good show sir!!
I also have been waiting for your reaction. I couldn't keep a smile off my face at how happy you were at this. Love watching you and listening to your discord on the music.
Malukah. It is part of her song. She made such a great impression on Elder Scrolls players they petitioned to have her be a bard in Elder Scrolls Online. Check out her ES songs, she is fantastic.
I’m so glad you commented this. As I’m watching this reaction/analysis for like the 10th+ time, I just spent the first 10 minutes of it searching the comment section for a mention of Malukah’s original version of this song, as I was so happy and excited with Mortius’ reaction the first few times watching that I kept forgetting to comment this myself lol. I find it interesting that even the reactors I’ve seen that are also Skyrim fans don’t seem aware of her original version of this song from years ago, and that they all seem so blown away by the Dovazhul portion of the song. Makes me feel like most of the Skyrim savvy reactors are under the impression that Voiceplay was the first to combine the two songs like this. I don’t intend to take away from the amazing job the Voiceplay has done with this song, because I absolutely love what they did with it, but I also don’t want to take away from what Malukah did originally so long ago. Hopefully I’ve made sense… lol
With 3 or 4 voices shouting the Unrelenting Force shout... the camera wouldn't be there in one piece anymore. I think it would have been hilarious if there was a credit roll short where they did the Fos Ro Dah! and the whole set just blew itself apart.
Here’s a reference for everyone: Mortius explaining the mind bending necessity to resolve the phrase/progression reminds me of the tactic used in Who Framed Roger Rabbit that the old guy uses to draw out Roger by doing the “shave and a hair cut-“ pattern but not ending it, driving Roger insane to the point of bursting through the wall he was hiding behind to finish by singing “TWO BITS!!” Lmao. Edit to add the link to the clip I referenced for anyone interested :D ruclips.net/video/hmkQ-Q1K4Jk/видео.html
Mortius, I loved your reaction sp much I had to watch it twice! This has to be my second favorite Voiceplay song (first is Hoist the Colours) and I've never even played Skyrim ....yet.
@4:29 you can see the arrow is in his hands. And @4:39 he starts putting the arrow inside the quiver, but since the arrow is long he has to do it in 2 moves.
OK, now, I know that Cesar has amazing high notes to blow me out of my chair, but his baritone is like dark (but buttery?) chocolate melting on my tongue! Hearing Geoff start this off, and then moving up the range to Cesar in his lower voice . . . oh, could you just play the first minute of this over and over? Please? I'm not ready for Eli and Omar. And I'm never ready for Layne.
dude .. omar had the arrow in hand from second 0 , he did put it in tue quiver but needed to change the grip for that :D he diodnt just began to take it out and shoved it back in :)
This man having a nerdgasm, anxiety attack and a stroke all at the same time but as a nerd i completely understand the love for a game and that one part that always pumps you up and makes the game what it is and hearing it in a remake like this that allows it to be complimented rather than completely redone! I loved watching this and great breakdown btw
Best reaction! Very close to my enthusiasm! About the arrow, remember the famous loading screens with the tips? One of the tips is: "A readied arrow will be put back into its quiver if the bow is sheathed" It's either a homage to the loading screens (which sometimes took forever and a day...) or a coincidence 🙂

Awesome review yet again! Soooo cool to see your honest (and informed) reaction.
I think the word or rahter words are "mind blown". I don't know the game, but this blows my mind every time. Chills. I know that gamers get the most out of it but those of us who aren't gamers still enjoy it hugely.
Shhhhhhh Mortius-
If I need a little pick-me-up, I pull up this reaction!!! It is absolutely impossible to keep a smile off my face watching you react to this.
Thank you!
The closest I can think to describe that break of silence near the start is pregnant/dramatic pause.
And when they got to "FUS RO DAH!", a tear silently slipped down my cheek💙
I enjoyed your reaction very much bc I don't have anyone to share this with... altho my son may yet come into fold as he grows.
I truly enjoy watching you react to this so much.
Love it!
Always joyous to see you react Mortius.
Geoff arranged this one. I loved watching you freak out over it. 😁
The word your looking for is FREAKING ANNOYING BUT REALLY FRIGGIN COOL
I'm right here with you in how im absolutely loosing it to how immensely great this is your reactions are perfect
SO SO GOOD!! Loved your reaction. :-)
I'm NOT a gamer, never been, never played video games. YET, this thing makes me emotional EVERY SINGLE TIME I listen to it, and I can easily cry when I watch it. No, it's not ridiculous. :-)
And you know what? You're the first one that I watch react to this that notices the way they end it. That sudden "booming" stop in the moment in which they "step on" with plenty of energy... It makes me jump from the seat and wear my armour and sword. You said it's a "call to action", in the game, right? Well, it IS. :-)
The credits... They made me think of the credits you'd find on Frank Zappa albums, like... "Steve Vai: impossible guitar parts - Napoleon Murphy Brock: vocals, madness and crazy stuff" and so on. :-D
I was waiting for your reaction. Worth the waiting. :-)
Can't wait the next one.
You just reacted like Dennis from ”King Family Reacts” did to “Hoist The Colors!” LOL!
For a moment I read hoist the colours to True Colours. I would love to see Mortius review that one too
The excitement is contagious
How have I missed your reaction to this?! I'm an old D&D, Skyrim, and WOW Player. Who knew you loved Skyrim!? Okay geek out over! But I love that I stumbled on your reactions!
I always we as performers sing songs to evoke emotions and memories. Watching you unapologetically geek out in reaction to this offering from VoicePlay was a heck of a lot of fun! Thanks for being you!
Hey Mortius! its Social, loved the reaction and was completely mind blown by this bass singer! that first drop was jaw dropping
I just love your excitement so much, I also was speachless!
It is such a treat watching you nerd out like this 😉 Thanks
I've watched your reaction like 5 times now just to see your joy and excitement on this.
Not too many reactors caught the sword sharpening at the beginning.
If you look closer at Omar in the beginning he has an arrow in his hand than puts it back in the quiver
I think it would have been hilarious if there was a credit roll short where they did the Fos Ro Dah! and the whole set just blew itself apart.
omar had the arrow out from the start, he just put it back in the quiver
I enjoy your reactions so much, thank you friend.
Yeah its offical this made my favorite reactions playlist
It’s nice to see a real fan react! Great stuff!
Here’s a reference for everyone: Mortius explaining the mind bending necessity to resolve the phrase/progression reminds me of the tactic used in Who Framed Roger Rabbit that the old guy uses to draw out Roger by doing the “shave and a hair cut-“
pattern but not ending it, driving Roger insane to the point of bursting through the wall he was hiding behind to finish by singing “TWO BITS!!” Lmao.
Edit to add the link to the clip I referenced for anyone interested :D

This was the BEST reaction to this song I have seen yet! I LOVE your reaction! Fellow nerds unite!
You are fantastic. And the video/music was fantastic. Thank you!
Mortius, I loved your reaction sp much I had to watch it twice! This has to be my second favorite Voiceplay song (first is Hoist the Colours) and I've never even played Skyrim ....yet.
@4:29 you can see the arrow is in his hands. And @4:39 he starts putting the arrow inside the quiver, but since the arrow is long he has to do it in 2 moves.
man that was so entertaining. love to see the passion.
Watching this again - I need some unmitigated joy in my life and you are where I found it.
And I'm never ready for Layne.
dude .. omar had the arrow in hand from second 0 , he did put it in tue quiver but needed to change the grip for that :D he diodnt just began to take it out and shoved it back in
:)
I got so much enjoyment watching your reaction to this video!
Best reaction i've seen so far! You Sir are great reactor. I lost my shit as well when they started singing in dovahzul.
Watching you again. Your joy is contagious.
God, this reaction was so hilariously fun/good that I am contemplating becoming a patron.
As a gamer myself, I was heavily nerding out with you. 😍
Best reaction! Very close to my enthusiasm!
About the arrow, remember the famous loading screens with the tips? One of the tips is: "A readied arrow will be put back into its quiver if the bow is sheathed"
It's either a homage to the loading screens (which sometimes took forever and a day...) or a coincidence 🙂
What an interesting observation!
