My favorite "bits" in this one are Cesar's trill right after Geoff's second basement drop and the closed caption when Scar roars near the end. Absolutely brilliant!!

What fun! They went all in on their characters! The hyenas were musically supurb and funny. Layne did a great job with this arrangement and those sounds! Geoff even had lion movements complete with claws and fangs! The vocals were perfect. Meow indeed!
The vibe I get here is that Scar definitely is a fratricidal, narcissistic usurper, but he might actually *like* some of his hyena henchmen in spite of his frustration at the IQ points they're lacking. 😆

Mykal is Michael. He is a founding member with Geoff, Layne and Earl under the name "4thelove" 1997-2000. Changed it to "4:2: Five" when Scott Porter joined. Mykal left in 2002 for a very successful career in Broadway and is still strong. Believe it or not but Mykal was tenor 1 (high tenor) and Earl was tenor 2. When Mykal left Earl became tenor 1.

In the behind-the-scenes Mykal and Cesar really seemed to hit it off, probably because there’s both just a “little bit” on the dramatic side! Mykal probably knew Eli from their high school day. They grew up in the same area although Eli did not sing with them at that time, but it seems unlikely that he would’ve met Cesar before this. This was great fun and although we all know Geoff is a really nice guy, he makes an excellent villain.

Mostly correct, except they changed their name to VoicePlay in early 2012, about a year and a half before they filmed The Sing-Off.
