Man, a Hula Popper! I just lost mine 4, maybe 5 years ago. I got that thing when I was I think 15yrs old (44 now). I could never quite fish it right, I'm a catfisherman at heart lol, but when you get a bass to hit lure, the heart skips a beat! Also, I MUST say that fishermen (most of us) are a great, caring, generous and giving bunch of people. Many moons ago all of my tackle boxes were stolen from my parents van and a bunch of tackle over the course of two months. I never asked them to, it was a forum to rant about all things fishing, including lost tackle. It took me months to write and send thank you notes.

Those are some good lookin plastics. I’m betting the black/purple with red belly was a try at tequila sunrise color. And those vintage lures are sick. Paint some and collect some.

Debo 6 inches is the size of the mold from front to back. The tail swings back under the main body in the mold so even tho it's longer they size it by the mold length.

Debo gotta try the Damiki Knock Out Craw style bait (4”) by of course Damiki. Def get the Junbug color if you can find them! They have floating appendages that gives the bait a vertical presentation on a Texas rig setup. They are kinda a well kept secret but they smash!
That Speed Trap will hold it's line on a very high speed retrieve and will generate some explosive strikes when the water gets hot. Great video Debo!! It made my day to hear you caught some fish on the jigs I sent.

I used to fish one of those Lazy Ike style cranks when I was a kid. I don't remember the color of it, but do some kind of funky color with it. Maybe a chartreuse and pink with chrome stripes (for dirty water) or GP and purple with chrome accent flash (for clearer water).

Lol yeah I still use a few hula poppers that have no skirt tail on the end. Plus a super old jitter bug with no tail either. Those old arbogasts never stop working.
Debo, I would like to see you and Randy do a challenge day, take the gifts and each of you select 3 of the lures and see who does the best. Flip a jig into a cup to see who draws first. Looser has to wash the winners car.
You and randizzle need to do a fish off using only the lures provided. Or you should each grab one of the same blank crank baits and each paint one to see who does the better paint job
Painting lures and making custom color models are winter time projects. This is prime fishing time and before you know it will be summer. Testing lures and soft plastics is an arduous task that takes time and work. Having tons of new lures and using them all is a long process. Before you paint any lures it might be a good idea to find out what the lures do before making them into masterpieces. I suggest rigging them up a see what they do first. Then pick ones you like best to paint first. Even this is a lot of work to do. My Aunt once made me a sweater for my birthday; I hate sweaters and never wear them. I hated this one above all others, it had a big yellow duck kitted on the front. My mother made me wear it every time my Aunt came to visit. It met its demise when somehow two of my mom’s wiener dogs used it for a tug of war match. Some gifts turn out to be a curse you have to figure out how to deal with without hurting someone’s feelings. I loved those little dogs that helped me solve that problem.

More than one color to throw in clear water. I just find the natural stuff works well here.

I just put fresh hooks on my dad's hula poppers for him, he has 13 original ones lol. He won't get rid of them half are missing the tails.
