So many of Iron Maidens songs are essentially history lessons. Flight of Icarus, Aces High, Powerslave, Alexander the Great, 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Trooper, just to name a few. Everything from Mythology to Ancient Egypt, Persian conquest and more modern European conflicts. Great band for Music and Content
My favorite Iron Maiden song to. All the amazing changes in it and incredible story telling and if you guys, please, react to it, make sure you do the version with Bruce.

That isn't history. That is a personal observation based on the ignorant belief that the whiteman was the aggressor in all interactions with indians. This is a Hollywood song. Because nowhere do I hear anything about taking women and children as slaves, which the indians did. Nor do I hear about how they slaughtered each other over land and resources.
The singer, Bruce Dickinson, is absolutely amazing: singer/songwriter, author, fully qualified airline pilot - turned owner of airline engineering company, competed internationally in fencing - and again, started a company for fencing equipment. After all that, he felt he deserved a drink, so he actually went and created a brand new er, brand of beer, instead of nipping down to the shop and buying a six-pack. Oh, and he also kicked cancer's ass. Legend.
The Drummer is Clive Burr who left the band after this album was very poorly with MS and the band really looked after him by playing benefits for him. Sadly he passed away in 2013 but his music lives on.
You guys should look up "Dee Snider's Desperado." Clive Burr was in a band with Dee Snider and they had rented a closed down hotel to practice in. So there are videos of them having band practice. It s some cool footage.
Iron Maiden are one of the greatest metal bands of all time and their songs normally tell a story about history of some kind. Hellowed Be Thy Name and Rime of The Ancient Mariner are a must. Both super epic songs.
I am a 60 year old Canadian rocker. So happy to see you two getting into what I have been listening to my whole life. Welcome to the dark side. Enjoy the talent of rock.
How amazingly far has Amber come in appreciating Heavy Metal? Never thought I would see the day where Amber liked a heavy metal song before Jay did! Some of the best lyrics in Heavy Metal are from Iron Maiden. Far more original themes than most metal. And I say this as a fan of the genre. Now that Judas Priest took a rightful spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame- Maiden needs to as well!
So much of Maidens songs are based in history. Made my history teacher mad when I quoted maiden songs in high school that were relevant. 55 year old lifetime Iron Maiden fanatic here
Cool thing about Maiden is that they own their own commercial jet and the singer Bruce Dickinson is a licensed pilot and flies them to their gigs. And man can he sing! A lot of talent in this band.
He is also an Olympic standard fencer! He was appointed as an Honorary Group Captain in the RAF, and performed in Sarajevo during the Serbian attacks on Bosnia- Herzegovina, being made a citizen as thanks. Amazingly talented individual!
Just to clear the misconception the planes they were flying were leased and not owned by the band and Bruce is retired from piloting due to FAA regulations,as for 757 they used on Flight 666 not to sure what happened to that one,but 747 used on the Book of Souls tour, and if i do say so,was the fricken coolest looking 747 ever to fly the skies,i'm sad to say has been offically retired. And what is more saddening , is that Boeing has ceased production of the 747 earlier this year.I was in tears when i watch the video of delivery of the last 747 to roll off the production line.As sixties scoop baby up here in Canada i was very blessed and fortunate that my adoptive parents took me to the Netherlands back in 77 when i was young child of ten years old,it was 747 for our flight.Best dang childhood memory! In closing ALL HAIL TO THE QUEEN !!
I love that you went back to Maiden, and Amber's reaction is awesome. Check out the live version of Fear of the Dark. They're a must-see live. You need to hear the crowd singing Maiden's guitar melodies.
This was Bruce Dickinsons first release as lead singer with Iron Maiden and that was in early 1982! He replaced Paul Di'Anno as lead singer then. Hope that helps and also the group have been active since 1975 and are still around today though in the early days the group members were very fluid!
Couldnt get into it. "Can I play with madness" is "ok".....but the rest is pretty much forgettable ..to me anyway. I recall when it came out..I was around 17 or 18 and I was like "eh..im not feeling it". I think Somewhere in Time spoiled me haha.

In the 80s Iron Maiden was huge with the Native American communities precisely for songs like this. And it is interesting how they used scenes of a very obviously early, quite racist, movie that depicted Native Americans in such a ridiculous light. it's quite a contrast that I think makes a stronger point.

There's a story in them all, to be sure. I mean, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Number of the Beast, or Seventh Son of a Seventh Son? None are exactly real world history. Awesome storytelling across the board, though.
I would like to think that many who watch music reaction videos appreciate one thing more than any other...you can never hear a song again for the first time and in a weird way, we can re-live that moment we heard a song or band the first time by experiencing it vicariously through your reactions. I'm so happy you checked this song out - and I love how Amber put on the "stank" face during Bruce Dickinson's vocal break towards the end! I laughed and snorted loudly - scaring my cats!
Amber is so right, metal is normally very deep subjects, sometimes which makes normal society uncomfortable. Early one's were like Black Sabbath, Blue Oyster Cult, and Iron Maiden

Singer Bruce Dickinson was also called the Air-Raid Siren for his scream at the end of this. Their best song, IMO, is "Hallowed Be Thy Name" from the Rock in Rio concert. Absolutely amazing.

They had some great songs, including "Judy Staring At the Sun" (featuring Tanya Donnelly of The Breeders), "Crank", "Black Metallic", "I Want to Touch You", and "Waydown".
Rob Dickinson is a paternal cousin from Bruce, not his son. I only know 'Delicious' from them ( Catherine Wheel), great song. Suggestion for Jay and Amber next time?
Another fun fact, Steve Harris also has kids who are also musicians. Oldest daughter Lauren is a vocalist, had a solo project from 2005-2010, then formed the band Six Hour Sundown which was active from 2010-2012. And his oldest son is a guitarist and one of the founders of the band The Raven Age.

I’m sure everyone has suggested these already, Hallowed Be Thy Name live in 1982 and Number of the Beast, and Wasted Years. Also check out Bruce Dickinson (IM lead singer) his song Tears of a Dragon live with Tribuzy - It’s incredible! It’s at a time where Angus is at his absolute best! He goes crazy on stage and J you will love him even more 🎸🔥 ❤️
3:10. Jay & Amber - Most interesting to note: The science shows mixed/multi-race Americans with trace indigenous ancestry are also descendants of Anglo Saxon colonizers themselves, as it is that confrontation which is the linkage in the genetic history. Sometimes even as little as 30% British Isles DNA. As someone who has studied my Sicilian roots thoroughly, a trip down the deep rabbit hole of anthropology and genealogy, gives us the truest perspective. And society would be better for it. ✌🏼 Great reaction 👍🏼
Wondering why we haven’t seen a reaction to this, love this song, excellent vocals, guitar, bass, and drums! Everything was Amazing, seen Iron Maiden in concert back in the 80’s in their Prime! It was Killer! Thanks for reacting!
More metal you say? You have not done the Post-Ozzy Black Sabbath anthem "The Mob Rules" fronted by Ronnie James Dio. The Heavy Metal Movie Soundtrack has a lot of other gems too.
I saw Iron Maiden the first time in 1982 on TNOTB Tour opening up for Judas Priest. 2 tickets first level $18.50. Saw them again on their Piece Of Mind tour.. headlining. I got off the IM bandwagon after I discovered Thrash Metal with Metallica, Megadeth and Mercyful Fate. (which you need to listen to if you like musicianship). But the Number Of The Beast is Iron Maiden's apex (for me) and this song brings back so many memories. Where Eagles Dare is another great early 80's Maiden classic if you love drums.
Maiden has over 200 songs in their catalog and about 95% of them are jams. My favorite song from them is from an album that came out in 2021. The song is called "Hell On Earth". The band has been around since 1975. I'm going to see them in concert this year. The Greatest Band To Ever Have Walked On The Face Of The Earth. Period. 🤘Up The Irons!🤘
I agree - absolutely love Bruce Dickinson’s voice. He is a commercial pilot and flew their Iron Maiden jumbo jet - which was named Ed Force One (named after their mascot Eddie).
Thank you for reacting to my absolute favourite band of all time, guys!! They have so much great songs, a catalog full of metal classics. The best thing is that they are still together making music and filling up stadiums around the world. For a more recent take on their stuff, I recommend “The Writing On The Wall” released on 2021.
As a true native from Oklahoma descendent from Kiowas, I've loved the song growing up. As a kid i just loved sounds and music but getting older I've payed more attention to music & this jam by iron maiden was just truth because myself, am half native & Hispanic but more with the native side considering growing up here. I have love for everyone just like they'd want from everyone else but dont ever forget we got MISSING MURDERED INDIGENOUS & it don't stop. But were still here regardless how much they want us gone & forgetten. Despite those who live in the streets and are addicts.. we'll strive & then theres those that got it together. Peace & love to all those that understand without hate words just dont forget about us!
Up the Irons! The BEST heavy metal band ever! So many great songs - “Hallowed be thy name”, “fear of the dark”, “blood brothers”, “flight of Icarus”, “rhyme of the ancient mariner”, “aces high”, “can I play with madness”, “pachendale” (a personal favorite), and dozens more. Also, check out Queensryche “take hold of the flame” (live in Japan 1984)
I feel if Maiden used actual photos of the suffering natives and the back and forth fighting these old songs would get more respect. A lot of the videos that I loved even seem kind of corny to me nowadays.
Many Maiden songs have deep context, both historical and from literature. Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, Flight of Icarus, Number of the Beast are all epic. So many others, too many to list
Running Silent Running Deep is a great storytelling Maiden masterpiece. And Steve Harris's galloping bass in Run to the Hills sets a good time for the song.
Bruce Dickenson is known as the "Air Raid Siren" for a reason! Run to the Hills is a metal masterpiece, a classic from the early 1980's, I couldn't believe you didn't like it at first. Glad you got on board by the solo!
Best band EVER!! I've seen them play live throughout the years and they're always great. I was even there for the Live After Death shows/recordings in Long Beach, CA in '85 on their Powerslave Tour.
So good! Iron Maiden is one of my favorite heavy metal bands, and Bruce Dickinson has one of the best voices. You have to do “Hallowed Be Thy Name”.

Iron Maiden did a better job teaching the youth of the 80s history than most high school text books. It’s a big element of their music.
Maiden combines history and literature with metal.
And that is one of the reasons they are so awesome! Some of the best lyrics in the genre!
That isn't history. That is a personal observation based on the ignorant belief that the whiteman was the aggressor in all interactions with indians. This is a Hollywood song. Also check out Bruce Dickinson (IM lead singer) his song Tears of a Dragon live with Tribuzy - It’s incredible!
I know AC/DC is difficult to react to on YT BUT I implore you to check out Riff Raff live at the Apollo with Bon Scott (ruclips.net/video/ErXbMB9R5-0/видео.html), Let There Be Rock live at the Apollo and Live Wire live in Paris with Bon Scott.
It’s at a time where Angus is at his absolute best! He goes crazy on stage and J you will love him even more 🎸🔥 ❤️
One of my favorite singers in metal!!
Amazing reaction 🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼 You guys should react to The Evil that men do
Iron Maiden at long Beach Arena in the 80's was awesome to live thru. POWER SLAVE
Scream for me Long Beach!!!
Great reaction 👍🏼
Wondering why we haven’t seen a reaction to this, love this song, excellent vocals, guitar, bass, and drums! Everything was Amazing, seen Iron Maiden in concert back in the 80’s in their Prime! It was Killer! Thanks for reacting!
More metal you say? You have not done the Post-Ozzy Black Sabbath anthem "The Mob Rules" fronted by Ronnie James Dio. The Heavy Metal Movie Soundtrack has a lot of other gems too.
Oh yes!!! One of my favorite tracks by these guys.
Incidentally, Queen has a great song called "White Man". Also pro-Native American!
Clive Burr was ridiculously underrated. He blows the lid off this entire album.
Alexander the great! Great song by maiden!
🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘🔥🤘
Dickerson is such a talent. His voice is intense and he also flies their plane 767 when on tour.
Dickinson
I agree - absolutely love Bruce Dickinson’s voice. He is a commercial pilot and flew their Iron Maiden jumbo jet - which was named Ed Force One (named after their mascot Eddie).
That’s why it’s HEAVY Metal 😎✌🏽💪🏽
Thank you for reacting to my absolute favourite band of all time, guys!!
They have so much great songs, a catalog full of metal classics. The best thing is that they are still together making music and filling up stadiums around the world.
For a more recent take on their stuff, I recommend “The Writing On The Wall” released on 2021.
Not a big Maiden fan.. But the Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album is an Absolute Masterpiece...!
Preach
You'll never hear a band with more coordination and sheer expertise. Seeing them live as my first ever concert was... amazing.
3:23 Cherokee Blood... wauw.. Try Europe - Cherokee, or Nightwish - Creek Mary's Blood ( live with John Two-Feathers )
I love " Revalstions"
Not going to get as much likes but a favorite of Brice Dickinson as well.
I feel if Maiden used actual photos of the suffering natives and the back and forth fighting these old songs would get more respect. A lot of the videos that I loved even seem kind of corny to me nowadays.
Back in 1982 this record was bombastic, maiden went stratosphere from being a 🇬🇧 metal band to a global phenomenon, a true classic for life!!!!!!!!!
Cmon man! Really J?? Amber seemed to enjoy it! This is 🔥🔥🔥🤘
For the love all that is holy.... Black Sabbath War Pigs!!!! Please please 🙏
Watch Rock in Rio version of this 2001..Absolutely INSANE
Hallowed be thy Name live and then The Number of the Beast studio version.
You haven't done "Number of the Beast" yet???!!! You totally have to do that one!
Iron Maiden is an exceptional hevy metal band with great musicams!! I asisted eight concert, all amazing!!
Sorry, I could not take my eyes off of the Pink Floyd shirt.
Rob that was funny what you said. Keep on rocking you guys.
As we Maiden fans say to each other: "Up the Irons"! Great band - even today!
Best singers of time bruce dickens on dio and bon Scott are all time greatest singers
Well, one thing' s for sure: there were no automobiles on the Oregon Trail.
One of the greatest bands with one of the greatest singers.
IRON MAIDEN! Grew up loving this band and still rock out to them at age 53
Likewise ,me I'm going to 57 Up the Irons!!
Many Maiden songs have deep context, both historical and from literature. Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner, Flight of Icarus, Number of the Beast are all epic. So many others, too many to list
Was really surprised that Jay didn’t like this song right off the jump, such a great hype song, and should be his workout list!! 😜
Number of the Beast is another great song on the same album.
Running Silent Running Deep is a great storytelling Maiden masterpiece. And Steve Harris's galloping bass in Run to the Hills sets a good time for the song.
I enjoy these songs and I enjoy seeing your good vibe reactions 😊
Check out WASTED YEARS!
"Flight Of Icarus!"
And the boys still out killin' it 40+ years later... seen Maiden many times live... such a big, deep catalogue...
UP THE IRONS great song
Iron Maiden is my favorite band. I love their way of rocking out and teaching history..
The Trooper is like running a two minute mile.
Bruce Dickenson is known as the "Air Raid Siren" for a reason! Run to the Hills is a metal masterpiece, a classic from the early 1980's, I couldn't believe you didn't like it at first. Glad you got on board by the solo!
Hallowed Be Thy Names (Live Version) will show you how incredible Bruce Dickinson is. The rest of the guys aren’t slouches either.
I was going to suggest this, so bloody good! The whole thing is just majestic.
the live version from the 80s
@@notwokevikingrules401 definitely. While the modern version is great the 80's one is a whole other level.
Ok but WOW ... Those Fun Bags were just bouncing. So Nice. 🥰
shes so attractive
7:09 Amber !!!! React to your reaction, and then react :D
you should listen to the number of the beast
Try iron maiden hallowed be thy name.
Hallowed Be Thy Name live is a must
Please please please do "fear of the dark" or "hallowed be thy name" LIVE has to be live its soooo much better.
Best band EVER!! I've seen them play live throughout the years and they're always great. I was even there for the Live After Death shows/recordings in Long Beach, CA in '85 on their Powerslave Tour.
Just so happened to buy the vinyl of Life After Death a few weeks ago for the umpteenth time!! Up the Irons!!
