- Mike Rutherford reviews the 1998 Fiat Seicento, taking a look at it's features and testing it's performance and handling as a city car. It has a fuel efficient engine which albeit only produces 54bhp, still feel nippy around the city streets.
This was my first car, a yellow sporting 99 model. I wasn't very happy with getting it at the time, but as time went on I realised how blessed I was, I didn't pay a penny for it, my parents bought it. As I got older, I realised that parents buying their kids a carr, paying their fuel and insurance and driving lessons is not the norm. Thankfully whilst I was doing my a levels in 2006 they found me a job at a pub which I'd have to work at otherwise they'd take it all away from me! The best lesson of my life. Learning the value of money.
I have a 2002 Sceicento SX. It is very enjoyable to drive, easy to park and has low group 3 U.K. insurance. Problems with theses cars - as originally designed as a left hand drive the clutch cable goes through the bulkhead on passenger side. As is right hand drive it is connected by linkage rods under the dashboard causing strain on the hook end of the cable and subsequent snapping. Be prepared to have to change the cable every few thousand miles and you have to be physically flexible to do it. Also factory fitted rubber suspension bushes are poor quality so need to be changed when they start to knock over bumps. Otherwise brilliant car with non of the reputation of Fiat rust as car was manufactured using galvanised sheet steel.
Thank you for posting this!
bloody hell he predicted the micro car rise in popularity correctly
I've got the limited schumacher version and i love it, you wont get a better driving experience this side of a ferrari and a fraction of the cost 😉
If you want to know how good these cars really are buy one you won't look back
I'm guessing he didn't last long on this program.
Idk, I'm 1.80 meter for 91kg and I fit enough comfortable on the back of the car... Was expecting worse by hearing all the other people talking about It... 🤔
"This is one of these micro cars that's gonna be more and more popular in future". Hmmm, seems now in 2021 everyone is driving bigger and bigger SUVs and crossovers.......
it was my first car I drove with him every where and dint gave me any problem and it was the hobby version with 39 hp.
Wasnt Mike Rutherford the guitarist in Genesis ?
it's a fun light car but the pedals are absurdly tiny and close together, makes your feet cramp
Reminds me of my fiat 127,great first car.
This is a really old video...he said he was born in '57...so he's now around 58 years of age...not on this video he ain't...
Buonasera in the middle of day...

I'm 14 and I'm a car enthusiast and I love the seicento. I want to get the 1.1 machael Schumacher sporting edition with the best specs but if I can't get one I would prefer to drive a 0.9 MIA version instead of another first car.
Bored with Rutherford spouting off - he loves the sound of his own voice and his own opinion - I gave up after 9 minutes - still had 5 mins to go and he had taken twice the time others have taken to review this basic car.
They’re unsafe but they’re cool. That’s all I can say
Over 4 minutes of pointless rambling before he got in the car
