    Is it just me or does Khorkina look so much healthier in this? I always thought she looked too skinny, almost anorexic. Some of her best skills looked super awkward to me because of how frail she looked. But here she actually looks like she eats food...ijs She did get taller but still she should have stayed this size/thickness.

    • @thesovgc
      @thesovgc Год назад +2

      I wrote out an entire reply 😭. But suffice it to say, I think the vault being set at the wrong height caused her to stick around far past her physical prime and she was holding on for dear life the closer Athens got. Women competing in their mid 20s was not so common then, so she likely didn't know how to train smartly. And I do think she just wasn't nearly as good as she'd been in Sydney by the time Athens finally rolled around. Say what you will about Khorkina, but she really did love the sport and her level of sacrifice in attaining her ultimate goal of becoming Olympic AA champion was extremely obvious.

      I personally never liked her personality but its not really her fault. She was one of bellas princesses who was told she was the next nadia at like 12 years old. That either makes kids self absorbed or terrified and I see both in her. She was the weakest on the 96 team for sure and i still think she should have been left off the team. When i saw her vault in team competition at Atlanta olympics i felt so sorry and disgusted for kerri who had to save the freakin team. She deserved so much better and wasnt one of bellas princesses.
      Moceanu was just way too young and over her head in both 95 and 96 but i dont blame her. She was so young, it was bellas fault to be honest. He should have learned his lesson with kim but i guess not. She grew into a much better woman then i expected so kudos to her for that!

    • @grantgoffin4774
      @grantgoffin4774 4 года назад +14

      Moceanu was objectively the best American gymnast in 95. She was 5th AA and won an individual silver at worlds. She won the U.S AA. Those are facts. Dawes was badly injured almost all year and barely competed. Miller had a mediocre year at best, not even making it out of qualifying at the American Cup, losing Nationals, barely winning Pan Ams over a super weak field, not doing well at worlds (even though injured, but this is the only place she was injured). And I am no Moceanu fan.

    • @a2l4y7
      @a2l4y7 4 года назад +1

      Dustin Gabe. You have a right to your opinion. She almost lost the gold medal for the team. She just was too young. She had great talent but her she would have probably made mistakes if she went to trials and then she wouldn’t have been on the team. The only reason she was there was because she was Bellas little princess and whoever Bella wanted would be on the team.

    • @accidentalpsychosquared3958

      @@a2l4y7 if you read the book moceanu wrote and published, you would know that Bella was not a big teddy bear who told her she was amazing. Moceanu says that she feels she would have been even better had she had a training style that fit her more-she trained in a lot of fear.

If you have fault with her gymnastics or attitude that is fine, but you can't judge or score the actual gymnastics based on attitude. • @2010hotmale2010
      @2010hotmale2010 Год назад

      @@saragrant9749 don’t be ridiculous…. You know as well as I do that the “code of points” is bull and is NOT math based at all when it comes to the final score (yes it’s math based for start values)…. If 2 +2 = 4, IT SHOULDN’T MATTER AT ALL WHERE/WHEN THE EQUATION IS DONE… So why did Lavinia NOT SCORE ABOVE A 9.750 IN ATLANTA!?!?!?!??!?!?! SAME CODE OF POINTS, AND IDENTICAL PERFORMANCE…. IT’S CAUSE JUDGES WERE “QUOTE UNQUOTE” ALLOWED TO PLAY WITH THE SCORES. IF 2 GYMNASTS DID A STUCK PERFECT VAULT IN 1996, WITH PERFECT BODY POSITION AND FORM, BUT ONE WAS A DTY AND THE OTHER WAS A 1.5, THE DTY WOULD SCORE HIGHER!!!! THE PROBLEM IS THERE IS NO ACCOUNTABILITY WITH THE JUDGES! THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO SHOW WHERE THEY TOOK THE DEDUCTIONS! SO YOU’R’E TELLING ME WITH LAVINIA’S BAR ROUTINE SCORE SHE SHOULD HAVE BEING THE 1996 OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST ON BARS SINCE KHORKINA GOT A 9.850!?!?!?!?! AND LAVINIA IS “CLEARLY” CAPABLE OF A 9.862… MY INITIAL COMMENT OF SAYING HER SCORE WAS “RIDICULOUS” IS CORRECT, AND IF IT’S NOT RIDICULOUS AND SINCE YOU KNOW MORE THAN ME, SHOW ME HOW SHE GOT A 9.862!

    • @saragrant9749
