It’s a fantastic thing that Larry Nassar is now behind bars for the rest of his life. What he did to these women was so unbelievably wrong. He also sexually abused and molested them. He does not deserve to be released from jail any time soon.
Huh? Simone landed that vault incredibly TONS of times. Watch the compilation of her nailing Amanars. McKayla rarely landed it without a big step. Simone was far more consistent on it.
Pretty nice and lovely. For the first part we see, how the intro goes, the way the gymnasts are shown training for the trails, and what Marta Karolyi says about them. It's good to see that Mckayla Maroney recovered just in time from her injury at day 2 of the Visa Championships. I felt sorry for her.

Who else misses the 1 1/2 step outs? I feel like we don't see things like that anymore, and it really shows who can generate a lot of power from such a small step.
Nathaniel Halls I think the requirement was to have at least two saltos in one tumbling pass. So it could be directly connected or you could use a step out
The weird thing is that she falls on that dismount in almost all National meets (except 2010 where she won the Nationals), but surprisingly, she hits her dismount in pretty much all international competitions. Look at her in 2009 & 2010 worlds
Price also wasn’t very experienced on the international stage either. Maroney was a part of the 2011 world championship team for Tokyo so they already knew how she could hold up in a big competition.
ncik delta I agree the us definitely needed mckayla for vault but Elisabeth price probably could’ve made the team in place of jordyn had jordyn not had the world title. She was stronger all around in my opinion🤷🏻♀️
@@ncikdelta7851 and she wasn't needed for all-around since they had their top all-arounders already. It would have been too many people going for the same things - as it turned out we know about Jordyn being 4th overall and still not making the all-around so it would have been two upset gymnasts instead of one no matter how it turned out, and that's not helpful for team finals which is the overall goal
Felt bad for Bross, but even if she was healthy, I don't know if she could have made the team. Weiber, Douglas, Raisman, and Ross were all peaking by 2012. Nastia Liukin though, I didn't really sympathize with -- she's an Olympic all-around champ, and to think she can just come back to world-class form in just a few months was a little arrogant....
I wonder how much added pressure Nastia had from her dad and her success in 2008. Did she really want to make a comeback or did she feel like she had to do it for someone other than herself?
i wanna know whats with gage and forcing their gymnasts to do ring elements on beam when most of the time the deductions wayyy outweigh the small bonus
The Liukin Gym had a tough meet here: Bross faltering (that horrific knee injury before the Trials just sucked the wind out of her momentum) and Nastia being out of shape. I was really surprised that Nastia made her decision for a comeback as late as she did (kind of arrogant on her part, really) -- she knew what type of commitment and hard work such an endeavor would entail so it was disappointing to watch her not at her best, smh....
Al, Tim, and Elfi are brutal...nbc gymnastics commentary has improved but yikes-hard to watch knowing what was going on behind the scenes. I feel for these girls/women 😔
I don't understand why Nastia and Valeri decided to keep her 2008 bar routine. He could've modified it to better suit the 2009-12 COP and make it more energy efficient
Did anyone notice that when Bridget Sloan (23:48) was injured she was checked out by Larry Nassar? Literally, that name makes me cringe, and no one even knew back then.
Shannon Miller too. I remember watching trials and she got hurt. They said that she should go back to the training room and she freaked out and said no.
Why did Rebecca Bross keep doing that beam dismount if it was so inconsistent?? Makes no sense. She should have taken it out and gone with a more consistent dismount.

It’s a fantastic thing that Larry Nassar is now behind bars for the rest of his life. What he did to these women was so unbelievably wrong. He also sexually abused and molested them. He does not deserve to be released from jail any time soon.
i don’t think he’s ever getting out of prison.. if i’m not mistaken i’m pretty sure he got sentenced to like 100 years or something like that
@@foff1260 Yep. He got like two sentences that have to be served consecutively so you may as well call it life with no parole
Maroney is just pure beauty on vault. No crossing feet or ankles during flight. That is something you don't see very often with the twists.
The best to this day honeStly. Simone Biles was great but her power was never under control. However, floor is another matter, she is the best tbh
Huh? Simone landed that vault incredibly TONS of times. Watch the compilation of her nailing Amanars. McKayla rarely landed it without a big step. Simone was far more consistent on it.
@@l0velyquiet194Not true its the opposite.
@@l0velyquiet194Right. Biles always does a big step..her landings are not on point
Elizabeth Price's coach looked so proud after her floor routine, so beautiful ❤
Awe that’s so awesome Jordan’s brother is so supportive! I wish my brother was more like this and actually cared about his siblings!! 🤦🏻♀️
Same with Aly’s brother he was in the crowd in both London and Rio, he was even in tears after Aly’s floor during the AA
How the hell did Gabby not fall on that one turn is beyond me. Amazing fight!
gymnasts have abs of steel
I've been waiting for this for years!
Tula Loveland :)
I miss Aly so much!
Funny how happy Marta looks; when saying I have to fight my tears when choosing the fifth person
At the 2012 trials no one knew that Mckayla, Aly, Gabby, Jordyn and Kyla were all abused by Nassar
Kyla, too?
and all the other gymnasts😖
highlights even more exactly who strong these young women were and are.
No need to mention that tbh
omg could we stop bringing this up, its SO annoying. I just want to enjoy gymnastics!
Nastia should’ve practiced 6 months earlier than she started. So she might’ve made the team.
BadmingtonSunset no, more like a year
Year and half
No 6 months seem right, she was pretty ready on beam , bars was her biggest problem, she would just avoid that by downgrading but she never did so it showed since endurance and strength werent her main qualities
Nastia was good in 2008 but there’s no way in 2012/2016 her routines from 2008 would even medal
@@MeganDurka I feel like shes been doing the same routine since like 2004 or so but adding a few different twists and turns throughout the years. I was wondering if anyone else had noticed that too lol
The 5 girls were very well selected. All were very competent! I love all five.
gabby's beam routines remind me so much of shawn but with better flexibility and leaps
“When you see the wolf turn you’ll think of Sarah Finneran”
uhhh sorry Sarah bahahahah 😬
McKayla Maroney’s fight and perseverance despite her injury is insane.......
I remember a step mattered between gold silver or bronze
old code of points, that's why they changed it. Everyone was getting 9.95s at the last meets and sharing medal placings.

*she has done this vault so many times. she has never failed on this vault*

Gabby’s save on her UB is insane! Such strength, zomg
i love seeing sarah finnegan here! she did AMAZING at lsu :))

Well triple wolf turn in beam sure is impressive, and it was clean.
they all deserve to win plus their so preettyyy
Kyla’s “Phantom of the Opera” music 😍😍
You can see how exhausted Nastia is, she just wasnt ready
That auditorium is chaotic as hell. I wouldn’t be able to focus on my lunch order let alone an Olympic routine
My heart goes out to all these girls
Omg at 23:51 Andrea mentions Bridget getting treated by Larry Nassar😳that spooked me out

I just want everyone to be able to win
I want to be just like Kyla Ross one day
don’t we all
Of course Elfie’s favorite skill is a wolf turn
Seanzie P hahaha I will say that in her defense, this was 2012 when NOBODY did wolf turns (especially triple wolf turns). At the time they were still pretty unique, and different from the standing turns
Owen Bazigian Fair enough 😂 I personally don’t hate them when they’re done impeccably
the shade though :D
@@ItsSeanzie same!!! like they're highly rated turns for a reason lol. nowadays tim and nastia always hate on them and its so annoying, like during 2018 nationals or worlds everytime someone did a wolf turn nastia would be like "NoT mY FaVoRiTe SkIlL" like girl shut up we heard you the first 10,000 times you said that
@@owen5823 great replies :o)
You never think about how hard it is to choose the right team and the people who inevitably will be disappointed because they weren't chosen.
Seeing this side of Nastia actually makes me respect her more
Absolutely not. Look 2008 and 2012. She seemed so listless
@@lena-gk4vb shut up pls, she tried and that’s what counts
@@aureliusdiaz7178 Shut up. I say what i want
That McKayla Maroney fall was definitely rough but it was probably the best way for her to land opposed to her neck, head, or legs that could've given her a much more serious injury.
I swear 2012 Team USA was the most iconic team. They were so strong individually. Can’t forget those Amanars in London!!😍😍😍
The 2012 team was nicknamed the United State of Amanar.
Ally Raisman can tumble quite beautifully 👍🏻👍🏻
To think there was a little Simone Biles watching this like, "I hope one day I can be like them and compete for an Olympic team spot".
Simone actually won the US Secret Classic in the junior section earlier in the year so she was already a year away from being the world champ.
She definitely was thinking "oh I should try this wolf turn thing"
Those girls are the real super heroes. After Having to put up with that Slime Larry and still perform.
Amazing ❤️ and determination.
Larry God looking for you!!! He coming
Nastia was so beautiful here. I think she said that someone pointed out that she gained weight around this point, but she honestly never looked better than right here. Nowadays she looks much older than her 30 years.
she did gain weight from 08 to 12, but i agree she looks awesome and that’s normal lol. it looks much healthier
She looks like she is lying in the sun the whole day.
The weight looks good on her, in a weird way it made her gymnastics more effortless if that makes sense
@@aureliusdiaz7178 You know NOTHING about gymnastics wtf
48:29 Aly on beam is my favorite
Looks like a great video. I can't hear the commentators over the cheering though. That's hard. I'm interested in what's being said.
Love Wieber's old school leo
👊🏻Miss Ross is a BOSS!!💪🏻 luv her!!
Can't we allow one wobble on beam?!! The first one free, at least?!!🤷🏻♀️
so much love for all of these girls!!!
Who else misses the 1 1/2 step outs? I feel like we don't see things like that anymore, and it really shows who can generate a lot of power from such a small step.
was it like a requirement in 2012 for everyone to have combination passes? Almost everyone had 1.5 step outs in their floor routine.
@@nathanielhalls1893 hmm it might have been, I'm not sure! Maybe it was just an "easy" bonus, but that's a really good point.
Nathaniel Halls I think the requirement was to have at least two saltos in one tumbling pass. So it could be directly connected or you could use a step out
Gabby's floor routine here really shows you what a great gymnast she was - more so, I would argue, than her AA gold performance.
29:00 love how the wolf turn on beam was a novelty at this point xd
Elfi talking about how “unique” Sarah Finnegan’s mount is. Oh, if only they knew 😂
How literally EVERYONE hates wolf turns now...lmao!
I’m just confused on why she calls it a mount, when it was the first skill after her mount..
Why is Miss Bross still doing that dismount?!!!!
The weird thing is that she falls on that dismount in almost all National meets (except 2010 where she won the Nationals), but surprisingly, she hits her dismount in pretty much all international competitions. Look at her in 2009 & 2010 worlds
Why didn't Elizabeth Price make the Olympic team??
Becouse here and mckayla were for the same events and mckayla always scored higher
Price also wasn’t very experienced on the international stage either. Maroney was a part of the 2011 world championship team for Tokyo so they already knew how she could hold up in a big competition.
Elizabeth also peaked at the same time mckayla peaked , any other Olympic and sheika would’ve made it
ncik delta I agree the us definitely needed mckayla for vault but Elisabeth price probably could’ve made the team in place of jordyn had jordyn not had the world title.
Valeri's gymnasts always looked miserable
I noticed that too. Wonder if he’s abusive
Becky B wouldn’t be surprised.
They also always look broke.
They're pretty good too.
I think they are just very focused and determined. As an athlete myself it’s hard to overcome pressure sometimes, and to put a smile on everything.
When i really just want to watch more gymnastics than i watch things from 9 years ago
THIS COMMENT!!! 100% spot on
I wonder how much added pressure Nastia had from her dad and her success in 2008. Did she really want to make a comeback or did she feel like she had to do it for someone other than herself?
Why do you care? It’s not you trying for the team
She always had an arrogant attitude
@@soimsha.Come on shut up
i wanna know whats with gage and forcing their gymnasts to do ring elements on beam when most of the time the deductions wayyy outweigh the small bonus
Gabby is just so cute, her smile after her floor routine is priceless
The Liukin Gym had a tough meet here: Bross faltering (that horrific knee injury before the Trials just sucked the wind out of her momentum) and Nastia being out of shape. I was really surprised that Nastia made her decision for a comeback as late as she did (kind of arrogant on her part, really) -- she knew what type of commitment and hard work such an endeavor would entail so it was disappointing to watch her not at her best, smh....
hmrhuang it’s not arrogant for her to want to try. It’s not like she KNEW she was gonna get in. She just tried for it. What’s the harm in trying
Many knew and many said nothing, sadly.
Kyla has such beautiful lines
You should see her on the UCLA gymnastics team she amazing!!!
Apparently she also has that "international" look that the judges like. I think that's a PC way of saying "vague ethnicity" which sounds like an insult! So international look it is. I think she's just beautiful all over. Beautiful smile, beautiful lines, graceful.
