  • Jack Hipp's '50 Willys is an example of "less is more" automotive design. Jack talks with Lance Lambert, host of TV's "Vintage Vehicle Show", about military Jeeps becoming a SUV before anyone heard of the term. More information about the "Vintage Vehicle Show" can be found at www.vintagevehicletv.com

Tim Harris That's amazing! I grew up in Puerto Rico with a 1960 Willys Jeep. I would like to buy the CJ3B Willys Jeep and restore it.

Contact Willys America in CA. They have a website and they have a complete catalog for parts for all 47-63 Willys.

Jack, we also own a 1950 Willys, off frame restoration. Would love to know where you find parts other than Kaiser Willys. We've won many awards with this car' including the Concours d' Elegance in Hilton Head last year.

Jeep, was "coined", during WWII, it derived from the term ..."general personel" transport, G. P. Willys made vehicles into the 60's . I owned a 1962 Willys wagon, with the hurricane 6.

First off, it's pronounced "WILLIS," not "WILLEEZ." Second off, "WILLEEZ" did not coin the phrase "JEEP," the WWII soldiers did. It was designated a "GP" vehicle, short for "General Purpose." As with all other military acronyms, it became a word. So, "GP" became known as "JEEP" to the soldiers.

Soldiers called it a WILLEEZ so that is what it is called. Only the douche bag stuck-up jackoffs correct it to WillIS
