Following the logic of the movie, if you don't age while sleeping. That means it has been a heck of a lot more than 20 cycles. Because if he has aged what looks to be 20 years in 2 hours periods every 6 months, something like 43.000 years has passed.
That makes sense, considering the surface is safe.

IF they wake 2 hours every 6 months, and it would take 20 shifts for the surface to be safe, then 20 shifts would be 40 hours. He shouldn't have aged 10 years in that time if nobody else in cryo aged.
The time between each shift is 6 months…so 6 x 20 is 120 months which is 10 years. 😊

So even though yes, its 10 yrs. Realistically it was only 40hrs...

When I was 19, my appendix decided to explode, and it was the most painful thing I've ever felt. Unimaginably excruciating, and like you both need to vomit and have explosive diarrhea at the same time, but nothing comes out of either end of you. Imagine that horrible intense pain when you have extremely bad diarrhea, except there is nothing to poop out - no way to make it to stop. And imagine the most nauseous and hungover you've ever been, but there is no way to vomit. That's what your appendix exploding feels like. And the second the hospital injected morphine into me, I went from the most unimaginable pain and unspeakable terror (let me be clear, if your appendix explodes, you are EXTREMELY aware you are in the process of dying, there is no way to mistake it for something less serious), to instantly feeling like the world was a literal utopia. That scene at the end really isn't exaggerating. Morphine is an INSANE drug. I would never dare start using opiates recreationally because I know I'd end up od'ing. Opiates are insane, messed up drugs.

I was given morphine once for a kidney stone. That was not my experience at all. I still felt the kidney stone pain, but I also felt sleepy and dizzy, not a good combination, trust me.

I got my 'exploded' appendix removed only 2 days after it happened due to the poor hospital's management cuz their covid testing machine was broken. They insisted on waiting for the PCR covid test results while knowing that their machine was unusable and I was in extreme pain for the whole 2 days. They didn't even conduct the operation appropriately resulting me had abscess left inside my appendix area, and I eventually had my stomach cut open 10 days later at a different hospital. The first hospital also only gave me 4 days worth of antibiotic after the surgery. I still cannot forgive everyone who was involved till this day for their ignorance and incompetencies which almost resulted in me losing my life.

Question if the air outside is toxic then do they have Greenhouses?? Greenhouses have plantlife and plants produce oxygen so my question is why they can have cryo-tubes or whatever but they don't have greenhouses...
Or they could simply use electrolysis with nuclear produced electricity to generate endless amount of oxygen
