Thanks for this informative video. I was just nominated for Sgt in arms last night at an American Legion meeting and had no idea what the duties of that entails
I suggest correcting the video title to be "Sergeant at Arms." I often chide an officer at one of my local clubs who likes to say "of" rather than "at"! The speaker in the video says it correctly; it's just the title that's incorrect.
You didn't speaked of the part about if there isn't enough people for a qourum,the sargent at arms can basically drag the missing participants to the meeting

I am bugged by the whole belief of "what the sergeant at arms says at the start of the meeting affects the rest of the meeting" I agree coming in high energy is great and most likely will influence the next person to speak. I think it's also a lot of pressure for the sergeant at arms and I think people's emotional states change all the time. If the sergeant at arms comes in depressed that shouldn't affect everyone's emotions for 1 hour. Remember the sergeant at arms only speaks for 2 minutes. To assume that his/her speech changes everyone's energy for 1 whole hour is imo arrogant and also I imagine a made up myth that can scare a new sergeant arms. I.e me. I'm new to this and I want to do a good job and I feel pressured by this belief that I've heard at multiple places and sergeant at arms training.

Hmm, I disagree. I thought the Sergeant at Arms role WAS basically a janitor, until i saw this video.
