My 3 daughters wanted Cabbage Patch dolls for Christmas back in the 80's. I was a single parent at that time and money was very tight. It was cheaper for me to send money to my auntie in Canada to buy the dolls and send them back to the UK. My girls were very happy that Christmas.
Alexander, the orange big clock ⏰ you found, I had the EXACT clock through my teenage years. I’m 70 now! The alarm on that clock could wake someone on the other side of the world. It’s alarming… Lol ♥️
Last month I purchased a Precious Moments soft doll made by applause. I was cleaning the doll and trying to fix his nightcap for a photo and it wasn’t cooperating! I was going to remove the cardboard in his cap (sewn in each corner) I was able to get a few fingers inside the cap and it didn’t feel like cardboard! To my shock I started pulling $20 dollar bills totaling $160.00. So now I check all picture frames and anything else that could be a hiding spot! It was a fun shocking surprise !
I found $780 throughout my mom’s house when I cleaned it out. I still wonder about the money I’m sure I DIDN’T find. I’m sure there was some. Found it inside figurines, between plates of her wedding china, between pages of her oldest bible, in the base of her Grandfather’s clock…… we had to check everything. I even found a filled jewelry box under a vent cover, in an air vent. 🙄
I’ve mentioned this before and I know you hate wearing a GoPro but if if you put one on a tripod in the doorway or something while you go through with both hands, your audience can watch the process and it will go much faster. I so enjoy watching you do these clean outs. It cures my desire to go buy a bunch of junk myself. Lol😂
I love these house clear out series and I can't wait for the next video. Thank you Alex for taking us along with you. I'm glad your wearing a mask at the end because mouse dust can make you sick. 🥰🥰🥰
I'm so jealous and wanted to be there helping you! This is definitely my jam!! Several years ago, 15-20, I went through an old house that nobody had lived in for 20 years & was full of stuff from the time the house was built in the 1930's! The same family owned it from the beginning & from years to years a different generation of the family would live there for a short time and then move out leaving all their stuff behind. The last family members who lived there, put a big sign on the front door "DO NOT ENTER, CONDEMNED BY DEMONS!" So of course, I found out about the first Castor family who built the house & what the scoop was. Turned out the 1930's grandma was "crazy" and unalived a grandkid or two & unmanned one, hence the big sign on the front door. This didn't bother me in the least, bec I have Jesus in my heart and even the devil is afraid of God. Anyhoo, I found the best stuff! Jewelry, a Sr ring from 1893, postcards, money, and handmade quilts from the 1800's... The list is long, just like this home, and I loved every second!
Alex, the demand is high for ephemera. All old books, old cookbooks, old stamps, old checks, old bills, anything paper that can be used to make junk journals. Thank you for bringing us along on your trips through these clean outs!
As a set dresser and the head of props for our local Little Theatre, all of those produce cans and spice jars that have no barcodes on them are things I am always on the lookout for.
We love your house clean outs. You do it so organized, even when it’s gross. Wear an N-95 mask instead of just a material mask; just thinking about your health!👍🏻💙💚💜
The amount of work you have ahead of you but I really enjoy these types of episodes with you. I remember clearing out my parent's 3600 sq foot, 4 car garage, tack shed (horses), and exercise barn.. and my mom had been working on clearing out before she passed. House was not a hoarder's house, just big and full. I'd work for 4 hours or so, go home thinking I'd done a lot, and go back the next day and realize it didn't look like I'd touched anything. We ended up just picking what we wanted to keep and calling in an auction house (Mom had done the same thing with her parent's home and it worked well).
I do love your clearance vids. I know it is business, but it is also a needed service for families who are too far away to do it, or emotionally can't face doing it. The most impressive thing is your skill at showing us what you are doing while doing it. All the best to you and yours from Essex, England x.
I agree that Alex's service is very much needed. I know what my husband & sister-in-law went through doing each of their parent's places. Very emotional, very hard as they had to clean between working schedules.
I never understand the hubris of people who have nothing to do with the process feel it is their responsibility to tell others what to do with their salvage.
I was fascinated to see Reckitt Blue on the side of the box. For the viewers Reckitts produced the little blue bags that went into the washing to make the whites whiter. Reckitts were in Hull UK, they are one of my ancestors. Originally Reckitt then became Reckitt and Coleman now Reckitt Benckiser
Isaac Reckitt started the business in 1840, producing starch. It is amazing when you read the history of the company how many of the domestic cleaning products they started. They became Reckitt and Coleman in 1938.
I just stumbled upon your channel and I love, love, love watching you treasure hunt. If I were younger I would start a new career. I'm having so much fun watching you and you work so hard. You seem like such a kind and generous person with an unbelievable work ethic.I don't normally comment on RUclips videos, but I just had to in this case. But bless your heart, Alex, why don't you make this work easier for yourself by using totes or boxes as you sort through stuff instead of making piles. Limit the times you handle the stuff. One for keep or review closer, one for donate, one for trash, eat. Seems like it would make things easier for you. Keep up the great work and bringing us great videos. 😀
I can't tackle clearing out my room since I've gotten sick. I envy your tenacity. No need to apologise for taking care of your health, you only have youth once, cherish it.
Alex my love. Why do you always look your sexiest when cleaning out hoarding houses? I admire your persistence to get all the junk sorted and out. You got a lot of work ahead of you. Make sure the house is not haunted. Well my guy take care and stay safe. See ya next time. Love ya 🍺🌹🇺🇸🙏😇🌞🌈👍🕊❤️
Thanks Alex, you do such a great job of filming the process and taking us along on your journey of discovery. You are such a hard worker. Good luck with your allergies!
L8ke your videos alot. Especially because you are very respectful to the families of the residences of the things you buy and video. One question. Why don't you wear a camera on your head do you can use both hands?
That Call of the Wild book was probably from the 1960's when Grosset and Dunlop changed from books with dust jackets to printed picture covers. The date of 1931 is for the version of the story not when it was printed. I am a collector of Nancy Drew books also from Grosset and Dunlop and this was standard procedure for them.
The Call of the Wild book only has value if the condition is decent and it has the slipcase. If all other books on the shelves were binned because of mice, this book may be worthless. I'd previously told Alex the book was worth CAD165, but that's for a pristine copy.
Silly me, I get so excited when you go through the kitchen cupboards. I hope you find the other primary fridgies. Oh how I'd like to be there helping. Good job so far.
Goodness Alex, I remember when the Cabbage Patch dolls first came out, they were expensive dolls people were waiting in line to get them foolish things. I still have mine and I actually gave my son his now that he is an adult. Yeah them dolls are really something else in the day❤
Your last video i was commented that you must wear gloves and masks while digging those stuffs. Thank you so much for doing it now. I am just worried of your health and so your wife when she was helping you. Take care Alex and love you guys!❤
The rectangular Pyrex with the glass lid is bakeware. It's beautiful and yes it can also be put in the Refrigerator because the glass is tempered. Beautiful stuff.
1978 I wasn't even on earth then! You are such a comedian Alex!! Don't forget all that old flat ware for Josh also those Keys Josh has a project for them too!.
Your work ethic is top notch and your video quality and quantity is well above the avg YT channel. Thanks Alex, the one thing i look forward to each day besides my old hound pup playing ... oh and food :)
Alex, I hope your children thank you for how hard you and Melissa work to provide them such a beautiful home and life. Your job is interesting to observe but I would hate to do it : ).
My mom had the EXACT binoculars! Which, as kids, we couldn’t touch without permission). Thanks for the happy memory of looking through them at deer in the field 😊
Also look underside of drawers. My grandparents had thousands taped in bags there. Thankfully my dad was aware and even found money stashed in a chimney hidey hole and in their oven. I miss my grandparents. They had the best old house. Along with a butlers pantry we were allowed to play in and eat sweet biscuits we "found" hehe
I wonder if the parking issue was part of what made the family feel it wasn’t worth it to try to clear out the house themselves. As always, Alex, your work ethic and determination are amazing.
Oh my, you have so much patience, going through this home. I would have to have running water going before I could do this. I do admire your work ethic, not sure I could work in that mess.
My dad worked for Sears when Cabbage Patch dolls came out. He was able to get me one. I’m almost 70 and I remember that my Cabbage Patch doll was named Deva Elizabeta. I still have my doll but I’ve changed her clothes. She means nothing to anyone except me. My dad cared even though I was an adult!
Gotta say it, these house clean outs are my favourite videos of yours to watch. I cam hardly wait for each one to come out. Thanks for continuing to do them even tho you know you're in for very hard work. 😊🦘🐨
Alex, seniors homes are in desperate need of clothing donations. Seniors literally cannot afford to buy cloths due to their fixed incomes. A lot of little old ladies could use the clothing.
I am always excited to see each house clearing video pop up and I check daily. After you found the gloves and I saw you rummaging through the kitchen, I thought to myself that you should have them on. Then you did, lol. Love the funny mention of mice fillings, lol.
You should invest in a body cam or head cam. Would give you such easy access when not holding onto a camera or phone the whole time. I do love all your videos! 😊
I get so excited when I see old VHS tapes - I always wonder if they are from 70/80s and still have TV ads on them :) I love your videos btw, Greetings from Australia.
I sure wish someone like you & your family would have been in my area when my Mom passed. She had a packed 3 bedroom house full of home shopping boxes never opened 😢 really. It took me months to clear out her home. I’ve vowed to myself, never to do that when I become older, because it was such a burden. Trying to find places to take ALL of the STUFF!
Well done for keeping going getting it cleared. I will never forget the number of medication bottles we found in my grandmother's house, specifically her handbags 🤣 she had a handbag for every outfit colour & each had some of the essentials that she might need to save moving them from one to another 🙈 we got funny looks at the pharmacies when dropping off & were often back the following week as we would find more. My mum was similar to you that she vowed to not leave me with a similar mess but my dad hasn't quite got the same memo so I'm trying to get him to work through his stashes of wood and metal & car parts
I’m currently clearing a packed house. I knew for a long time that I’d eventually have to do it, but until you’re deep in it, you don’t realize what a task it really is.
I didn’t go through all comments so I don’t know if any one said that white box belongs to the Hudson Bay blanket I think. And seeing the original Corning Wear box was awesome. I had a tear up moment when you first walked and picked up a clock with a fake log fireplace on it. My beloved Grandparents had the same one. Thanks for the flood of great memories.
The Corning ware handle is to put on any corning ware casserole that has the section that comes out on the side so that you can use it on top of the stove as a pan and they make those handles in various sizes
I am completely hooked on your videos! So interesting seeing all of the old possessions that have accumulated over the years. Spiders I am not a fan and I live in south east Asia where they have huntsman spiders as big as your hand. Anyway, it is nice to meet another squirrel man. Keep up the great work.
Well done Alex, you’re doing a great job, it’s always hard at the start but as we all know it’s the only way you can dig down and find the treasure…. Your like a pirate 🏴☠️ digging in the sand on an island at this stage haha , I look forward to seeing what else you find and as always this is a very good reminder for us all to keep ontop of our own clutter so pirates 🏴☠️ don’t have to come do the digging for our families when we’re gone 😂 ❤❤❤ much love and a great show once again! Xx
Love these videos. I kept checking over the last 2 days for the next episode, and when I found it, it had already been posted for 6 hours! Thanks for sharing these with us. I don't know what you paid for the contents, but I think you are going to do well by the time you are done. Give our girl Melissa a big hug with love from BanDana Gramma ❤
I guess someone told you already that book "The Prophet" is a spiritual Classic. Even though it's not Christian, it has a wealth of wisdom and insight.
Most canned, bottled, even boxed foods has so many preservatives in them that unless the tops are bulging, they are good for up to ten years after expiration date
I love these series, and I admire that you take the time to go through everything and reuse/donate what can still be valuable. Can't wait to see the next video. Keep up the good work, you"re doing great.
Off subject:How totally cute you were at the end of the video, though you did look wiped out. Your family and your work ethic are wonderful to watch.Thank you for your videos and showing us that one man's junk is another's treasure. Have a good night.
I so enjoy your house clear outs, Alexander! Love going through the boxes and cupboards right along with you. I'm excited for you when you find treasures!!😊
Rest in Harvest reminded me a little of Christina's World. I like your house series. I've been waiting to find more silver bars and boxes and bags of gold jewelry.
I got a couple of those Corning handles when I was first married (1976). I used them so rarely, that I got rid of them at some point. I love that old 1952 cookbook. I learned to cook from Mom’s 1950 Betty Crocker cookbook, and got my grandmother’s when she passed.
My 3 daughters wanted Cabbage Patch dolls for Christmas back in the 80's. I was a single parent at that time and money was very tight. It was cheaper for me to send money to my auntie in Canada to buy the dolls and send them back to the UK. My girls were very happy that Christmas.

Marcyb...l love The Prophet. I read & cherished it through high school!❤❤❤
Best line: 'My hands are fart'n'. I so enjoy Alexander's lack of filter. He says exactly what our 10 year old selves would and I'm here for it.
I’ve mentioned this before and I know you hate wearing a GoPro but if if you put one on a tripod in the doorway or something while you go through with both hands, your audience can watch the process and it will go much faster. I was thinking the same thing about the camera footage. I think the videos could be better if he found a way to film while using two hands to work.
When i was a child. My parents waited in line for hours for my First Cabbage Patch doll for Christmas. I’m loving all the history your finding!
I love these house clear out series and I can't wait for the next video. Thank you Alex for taking us along with you. I'm glad your wearing a mask at the end because mouse dust can make you sick. 🥰🥰🥰

Alex, please use old sheets, towels, mattresses , duvets etc. to pass on to Vets and Animal Rescue practices
I found that many animal shelters will no longer take them ☹️
I don't think they'd want them from a house that's had mice and mice droppings in it.
@@lindastent-campbell5130 Can't they wash them?

I absolutely love the house clean outs. Especially if the person was elderly. You find so many interesting things. Thank you for sharing!
I noticed there were original boxes in the basement for some of those Tiffany lamps around the house.
Alex, I really enjoy watching these videos. Thank you.
Thanks Alex, you do such a great job of filming the process and taking us along on your journey of discovery.

I find these whole house clean outs fascinating!
I was 14 in 1978! Remember that year very well!
Vionics are SUPER EXPENSIVE and wonderful comfy shoes
The rectangular Pyrex with the glass lid is bakeware. It's beautiful and yes it can also be put in the Refrigerator because the glass is tempered. Beautiful stuff.
1978 I wasn't even on earth then! You are such a comedian Alex!! Don't forget all that old flat ware for Josh also those Keys Josh has a project for them too!.
I thought of Josh the minute I saw all the keys. 🙂
Some of the cabbage patch dolls are worth a lot of money today. Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
Your work ethic is top notch and your video quality and quantity is well above the avg YT channel. Thanks Alex, the one thing i look forward to each day besides my old hound pup playing ... oh and food :)
Agree,he most certainly has an amazing work ethic, such a beautiful family he has too.
Oh gog we got one of them big ben clocks in 1979 for a wedding present and it's still going smoothly .❤❤❤ from Ireland 🇮🇪
I love that rug in the living room
Alex, I hope your children thank you for how hard you and Melissa work to provide them such a beautiful home and life. Your job is interesting to observe but I would hate to do it : ).
I love the house clean outs I know it’s really hard work and most of that we don’t see but a big thank you for what y’all do and for sharing with us ❤
My mom had the EXACT binoculars! Which, as kids, we couldn’t touch without permission). Thanks for the happy memory of looking through them at deer in the field 😊
We decided to disassemble dad's
Binoculars the same week I tried to flush an orange down 5he toilet🤪 Poor dad!!!
Yes please for the Cabbage Patch dolls!!!
Old cabbage patch dolls from the 80s are very collectable
It takes a unique man to do the work you do on these homes. I'm glad that there are people like you & I'm grateful that you bring us along❣️😊
Also look underside of drawers. My grandparents had thousands taped in bags there. Thankfully my dad was aware and even found money stashed in a chimney hidey hole and in their oven. I would think seeing that basement would do it for most people.
💓💘❤💝💖watching your videos, thank you for sharing and have a great night!

That's too bad that there was water damage in that one room! Can't wait to see what else you find!!
Alex, please sprat the mice droppings with something like Clorox spray. Dry droppings can have some nasty aerosols in them
Well done Alex, you’re doing a great job, it’s always hard at the start but as we all know it’s the only way you can dig down and find the treasure…. Xx
I really enjoy watching when you do a clean out. You always find interesting stuff!
Oh, boy-I wanted those old kitchen utensils, like the fish turner! And the buttons and scissors! So much fun stuff.
I know that it's hard on you, but it sure is fun to watch the unveiling of the contents of an ancient house.
Vionic shoes are super comfy-especially if you have fascitis issues. Expensive too
Love these videos.
You almost told a Dad Joke. I al.ost miss those.
Vionic shoes are higher end shoes! Loving these videos.
I took a couple old mattress toppers and made them into dog beds for my old dogs. I used baby mattress water resistant sheets to cover them with.
Thank you for including us! Love to watch these discoveries!
Suggestion: How about using a Go Pro (on a headband, maybe) so you can record and have both hands available to rummage? I love these videos!
This is so interesting and actually educational as well. Thanks for bringing us along on this. 😊
I guess someone told you already that book "The Prophet" is a spiritual Classic. Even though it's not Christian, it has a wealth of wisdom and insight.
You are so effective working with one hand and sharing your discoveries.
Most canned, bottled, even boxed foods has so many preservatives in them that unless the tops are bulging, they are good for up to ten years after expiration date
You manage to clean/clear these mountain of things so efficiently. Wish I had that talent.
You are really good at what you do!!
I love these series, and I admire that you take the time to go through everything and reuse/donate what can still be valuable. Can't wait to see the next video. Keep up the good work, you"re doing great.
More skeleton keys! Wow😮. You got a lot done in one day. I really love tagging along and seeing the process and the cool finds.
Sure are hard worker keep up the great job
I know these clearances are a lot of hard graft, but I really enjoy watching everything being uncovered and discovered! XXX
What is hard graft? I'm not from Canada so I was curious. Thanks!
@@JeanStAubin-nl9uoIt''s not commonly used in my part of canada
@@JeanStAubin-nl9uo a lot of hard, tiring work, a job you have to keep at. I am from the UK. XXX
I learned to cook from Mom’s 1950 Betty Crocker cookbook, and got my grandmother’s when she passed.
thanks Alex. enjoy your vids so much. have a good one...take care of the allergies.
