You just know music is great when the last notes fade into silence and you hear the quiet after and appreciate it more for the sound that came before. Bravo.

"When he gives sleep to his loved ones, When he gives sleep to his loved ones, Behold the inheritance of the children of the Lord, Fruit of the belly, fruit of the belly. When he gives sleep to his loved ones, Behold the inheritance of the children of the Lord, Fruit of the belly, fruit of the belly, Fruit of the belly, fruit of the belly". This is taken from Psalm 127, which talks about all the hard work of building a life is only of value if we allow God to build the house. And children are a blessing from Him.

@@carolciliberti-noaafederal1780 Ah, lovely! I agree with you. I think that's what I often love about the music of Vivaldi; it is simple at times but more moving because of its simplicity. Also the dark key of g minor is probably my favourite.

This arrangement for Voice and Theorbo can be good in the way that it could suit the ear of the people not yet acquainted with the stangeness of Baroque music ...
But the marvelous voice of the singer performing here, Anna Nuytten, definitely deserves a full orchestra set : i hope she will be given this opportunity ♥

I wonder how much the music influenced the culture of Vivaldi's time compared with how great it reflected the customs of the day. Is it the same for us? On way or the other, much of the music of our time doesn't suggest we have anything to be proud of.
