Thankyou a million times! I have been working all morning, 5 hours at least, watching videos and trying every silly thing suggested on youtube to open the rear door on my golf 4, your suggestion about making sure the metal lever moves - not just the plastic part - allowed me to open the door! I was about to give up. Thankyou!!
Thank you for sharing this with us. I was panicking thinking the whole door was going to be damaged getting it open. 😂. Did this today and it worked. Just ordered a new lock/latch. Thanks again!!!
Incredible, thanks! Managed to do this without drilling but it was very time consuming. Head in the window from outside and using a torch down the hole. You will need to bend the lower part of the original hole but its still useable after. Thanks so much for this!
Omg. Have been trying to do this for weeks and finally found this video. I had to drill a new hole until I could get a screwdriver on the metal part of the armature. But your vid meant I knew where to drill and only needed a small hole. Thanks again!
100 times thank you for your videos!!! I dinden't want to draw a hole but i had no choice at all! Attantion with child safty lock cause its not working when it's on! But if you pull the door rubber away it's possible to acces the screw. Now the other door...
You didn't need to drill it. You need to remove the loudspeakers and window motor, then the bolts securing the other panel and then access the lock. You need to remove those things anyway to replace the lock
Interesting clip and information. You already had the plastic door card off - for demonstration purposes?? Because you can't get the plastic door card off if the door is locked shut - I believe. So if you knew exactly where to drill, then you could go through both plastic door card and metal plate to make your hole???
There are alot of videos here on YT about how to successfully remove plastic door card even if the door is deadlocked. I managed to remove mine without damaging it in first part of this video: ruclips.net/video/kQDFxqlg9-Y/видео.html
There is no real problem it is just fiddly. first take off the interior door handle. You can split it, carefully, with a screwdriver or blade to expose the two screws, remover them. Then locate the two torx screws, at the very bottom, holding the card in place and remove. This is fiddly as you can't see them. If you can't find them look on the opposite door you can open. Carefully lift and wiggle. not you the card.
This is a common problem across most VWs. Because of the litigation risk to VW in North America from people being trapped inside the car, all VWs sold in the North American market are supplied without dead locks.
Thank you for your help. I saw your four parts but you didn't tell us if your repair or change the door lock. Your video helped me a lot. At 10:02 you showed us that it's possible without making a new hole ! Thank you again ! Personnally I decided to buy a new one it's not really expansive . Sorry I never thougt about it back then when I was making this video. But I think that it should still open even if child safety lock is on. I have never turned child safety lock ON on my car. If You haven't fixed it by now and not afraid if some damage may occur, go for it. Just make sure that You press on the right spot (in this video 9:30 ) If I'm correct, if child safety lock is ON, it will not lock moving parts inside door lock module's mechanical side: ruclips.net/video/tsH-DmKttP0/видео.html
@@malusdomestica4555 Thank you so much for your videos about this problem, I used everything you showed, and I've been able to get the door open, and now the car won't fail the mot on door not opening. Brilliant, thanks
@@Alekin86 I used your advice and got the door to open, I broke the locking mechanism, but that didn't matter, the car passed it's mot and I sold it Many thanks
@@Alekin86 I guess there's no guarantee. If something brokes, I do not take any responsibility. These videos have only informational purpose. I didn't change the lock on my car. I guess the lock itself was fine. I suspect CCM has issues sending signal to electric motor inside door lock. So I just unplugged it. Now the car's computer does not know if this door is open or closed and so car alarm wont work with this lock. Also I can't lock it with key fob. I have to manually push in the locking pin when I leave the car. And to unlock, I have to pull inner door handle once so the locking pin comes up, and after this I can open door from outside door handle. Yes It is pretty inconvenient. You have to make sure every time you leave the car, to push down this damn locking pin. I'm still using this car like this to this day.

Glad to hear this video is still useful to someone.

How did you took door panel off if it won't open?
Seats out and do it by feel. there's two torx screws at the bottom. check your other door to see.
Bit long video but good information! Thanks!
