Oscar nominated tune from film Hit Parade of 1941 (aka Romance & Rhythm) performed by the lovely Langford while Phil Silvers & Patsy Kelly spy on them.
I'm a singer born in the wrong decade. I should've been singing in the 30's and 40's with these kinds of singers....that's what I dream of in my perfect world...... sigh.....
This was 7 years ago and I hope she began a career singing the kinds of songs she loves. Songs like these, of the 1930s/40s. Why should anybody confine themselves to whatever is fashionable at the time. Donna, I hope you did!
I am so glad that there are still people like yourself allowing us the pleasure of such fine singers of long ago. For me and others of my age it was a time of terrible Wars and strife and those fine Young stars helped us to live through it. Oh how i wish today there were the same fro our young people. Once again - THANK YOU :)
Thanks so much for posting this song! Kenny Baker is one of my all-time favorite singers and I did not know about this song or movie. If you have more of him singing, please post. Thanks!
I'm still learning about all this ol' timey music. This is my first Frances Langford RUclips. OhMyGod WhaddaVoice! ...and what a Beautiful song! It's a sure Favorite. I love these romantic duos' also. Another favorite duo of mine is a RUclips titled "With A Song In My Heart (1930). I especially love the ending of this video... it's perfect. Thanks for the contribution. Bravo!
If this film was made at a major studio and had a big budget, it would have been a hit. The cast is excellent. Frances Langford and Kenny Baker should have been as huge as Alice Faye and Dick Powell. What's interesting is in one of her first films, Frances Langford starred with Alice Faye and Patsy Kelly in a film at Paramount in 1935. Also, Kenny Baker's first feature film as at Warner Brothers, the studio that made Dick Powell a star.

When the AD is longer than the song, it's Your fault I have to get up from my chair and close the playlist... You tolerate anything Juice saddle you with. I won't take the bridle.
Lyrics for those who want to sing along: [Enter Frances] Who am I, to think that you're for me? Who am I, to wish that this might be? Could I make you love me, should I even try? Is it foolish of me, to hear your name and sigh? Who am I, to dream about your kiss? Who are you, to treat my heart like this? Why should I be still, and let this thrill past me by? I must have you, but who am I? [Enter Kenny] Who am I, to think that you're for me? Who am I, to wish that this might be? [Enter Frances] Could I make you love me, should I even try? Is it foolish of me, to hear your name and sigh? [Enter Kenny] Who am I, to dream about your kiss? Who are you, to treat my heart like this? [Enter Frances] Why should I be still, and let this thrill past me by? [Enter Kenny] I must have you, [Both] But who am I?
@enigmamelodies Frances was a lovely woman. She ran a great restaurant for many years near Port St. Lucie, Fl. After her husband Ralph's death in the mid-80's Frances went through a rough patch but she found love again with Hal and married again at 80!! She loved entertaining and many afternoons were spent in song on their yacht on the St. Lucie river.
Do you know what? These two incredible singers should have been far bigger stars but guess they didn't crave fame at any price as others did but there were few who matched their talent.
@Hannah071293 I suggest you call your local scientist to build a time machine. If anything, I was too. Honestly, my birth date should have been in the 50s. I am a rock n roll type of chick.
a surprising good blend of voices - Frances was a contralto - and Kenny a (irish) tenor - would never have expected them to sound this good together - too bad the song was so meh!

I did live in this era as a child. This music was more romantic and lacked words that we were said by others, but not us. Soap in the mouth was used.
Omfg fuck 2015! I wanna be living during that era

I totally agree. Kenny Baker should have been on Dick Powell's level of fame and he could have easily been his successor if he was at the right studio
It was also an era of incredible talent.
nice,thanks

Respectfully disagree. I think the song is enchanting.
