Gotta love those Moist Nuggets. i just went and shot mine today. it was a blast. i love this kick they have. I remember the bruise i got the first time i shot a Mosin. that bruise felt like a badge of honor.
@@misha5670 I've wanted a Mannlicher style gun for a while. i think the kind of internal stripper clip that they use is very cool. thanks for the suggestion. i was thinking about getting a Carcano for my next bolt action rifle but the Steyr M95 looks much nicer.
I got my 91/59 in 1991 in rural Newfoundland Canada. I didn't know what it was. All I new was it was way cheaper than a new rifle or even a .303 Lee Enfield (79.99 Canadian) and the guy in the store said it would take a moose no problem. I never heard the name Mosin Nagant until years later when I decided to do some internet research on my 7.62x54R Russian rifle. For the longest time I thought it was a M44 with the bayonet removed or something like that. Mine was in really nice condition and 16 year old me swore endlessly at it while tooth picking cosmoline (didn't know what was either) out of every nook and cranny.
Thank you for another informative video. I am always watching for info on my 91/59. It's like an information black hole. You can find the guns but no one seems to know the true story. Kind of makes having one fun. Again thanks Misha.

I believe the sight is in Arshin and not meters. My M91/30 is stamped with hammer and sickle (Izhevsk factory). 1937 model. I had no idea until recently. This is my hog/brush gun.
@@misha5670 my bell is definitely on haha really appreciate the knowledge of the videos man if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have known what an Albanian sks was and how rare it is... it was wild I watched that video of the Albanian sks and then went to the gun show the next week and I seen one I was like no way and I was able to tell the guy who was selling it a little bit about it because of your video I also told him to add you on this channel because of how knowledgeable you are on all kinds of guns I just wanna say thanks a lot man I couldn't say it enough because of you I was able to identify that rifle and it is now definitely my favorite in my collection
very informative.... How can I get my hands on a 1891 modified and upgraded to be a straight shooting carbine? My goal is for my Mosin to be classified as 'Antique' and an original 1891 receiver with upgraded everything else will allow me to have the best of both worlds Id appreciate your opinion

Misha or Jay, I recently bought a brand new WASR built in 2019, the bolt gets caught up somewhere around the magazines well (roughly when the bolt it half-way forward) Im not sure where its getting caught up, would you know what the cause is? Carriers hanging up on the hammer - enough that if you ride the carrier handle (instead of sling-shotting it) it can actually stick. Does it function otherwise? - Jay

Nope, it's perfectly normal for an AK - you're fine. My old PSL could "bolt hold open" on the hammer if I rode it forward. Provided it runs without malfunction, you shouldn't worry about it. I'd suggest upgrading the trigger group to an ALG AKT personally. It's a dramatically better trigger than the CAI and will probably reduce some drag on the carrier, but I wouldn't go out of your way to upgrade if it's only because of that "issue." - Jay

Used to be 10-20 years ago, but do some digging. There's pretty solid evidence now to suggest the M91/59 conversions weren't done in Bulgaria; though some probably ended up there after the fact.

Yep, my first couple true milsurp firearms were Mosins....old imports out of Finland with the import stamp on the barrel.

I think i have a 91/59...
It's in a laminate m44 stock. It is a shorty and I think it has the long sight.
Check the top markings. It should actually be marked 1891/59. Mine is and so are the other 2 examples I have examined.
I had a 91/59 carbine that had a shot out bore, with little rifling left.
I really love them, just so Russian . Might just have to get a few more. While they are still allowed here in NZ. Appreciate the video guys.cheers.
