    Splashing Safari also needs to be highlighted.
    On its own, HW is a great half day park, but something that the average guest would struggle spending more than 4-5 hours at. It’s got charm, but not the deepest collection. However, Splashing Safari picks up the second half of the day with one of the best water parks in the country with 3 amazing water coasters amongst a large collection of supporting slides. It really helps fill out the whole experience to put it on par with the top Six Flags and Cedar Fair park’s.

    From a local that has been visiting this park often for 20 years. You nailed it. Not the biggest or baddest out there. But its about as good and honest as it gets. Those 3 wooden coasters. I watch it go from just the raven to what it is today. Never a bad move made there.
    Also the real hidden gems here are found in the Santa Claus Cafe upfront with all the baked good. And the blue ice cream is one of a kind right next to the merry go round. Also. I don't know of any other park that has antique cars like holiday world. They are powered by gas engines and you truly control the throttle and breaking.

    No need to explain; the last time Cedar Point's operations were anything like Kings Island's was in 2019. Blue Streak isn't 60; it was 65 when I rode it in 2018 from May 21st through May 26th, when SteVe was new. I haven't been back since, but I visited Knott's in late November 2019; Canada's Wonderland in the 1st 2 days of August and 1st two days of September 2021; Carowinds 3 days and 4 hours in mid April 2023, then I visited KI the 1st time this past June 6 through 9th for 4 12 hour days, each park travelling from where I live in Surrey B.C; a south eastern suburb of Vancouver. Next week I'm flying down to California's Great America for my 1st visit there during the last day of fright nights, open for 10 hours. Great Countdown, thanks for posting!

    Holiday World definitely is a great park. Love the free perks and overall atmosphere. A few top notch rides. My only complaint is that if you go when this park is not that busy (which has been the case both times I went), it really is a 1/2 day park. The wood rollercoasters are all good to great, but when you are marathoning them, they do beat you up. There are basically only 4 coasters so it is small. I left early both times I went so I hope this park continues to expand the rollercoaster lineup (more rides and more diversity) in the coming 10 years.

    • @Ray-Ray99
      @Ray-Ray99 11 месяцев назад

      Well, holiday world lasts as long as most parks do. And all wooden roller coasters beat you up and the thunderbird you go so smooth and don’t feel a thing. And yes it has 4 roller coasters but it’s not small by any means. Maybe compared to other parks but it’s pretty big. Holiday world and other parks have their things but some stuff you said wasn’t quite true
      (Sorry if it’s long!! And I’m not trying to be mean!! I just like to support different things :))

    I'm surprised by how much you liked Gobbler Getaway. It's funny and I like the crazy looking grandma but I haven't heard quite this level of praise for it before. Of course, it's your opinion and that's valid.
    Have you ridden Haunted Castle at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk? To my, that's the gold standard from Sally.

    • @ThemeParkAvenue
      @ThemeParkAvenue  Год назад

      Gobbler Getaway isn’t the best of all dark rides by any means, but it was just super fun and more enjoyable than other Sally Rides. I have not ridden Haunted Castle.

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ Год назад

      @@ThemeParkAvenue I only brought that up because I find most Sally dark rides to be flat and underwhelming and I haven't particularly found Gobbler Getaway to be necessarily that much better than most. But I've only done it maybe twice so maybe I need to give it another chance.
      Haunted Castle is a surprisingly good dark ride, especially from Sally. It's certainly not on the level of Disney or Universal but it's quite impressive. It's like Haunted Mansion at Knoebels but longer, less abrasive and more immersive. It's kind of like the swamp portion of Monster Mansion at SFOG which is honestly one of my favorite Six Flags rides.
      The one I'm more curious about is the new one at Lost Island and the stand alone one next to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I haven't been to Iowa since Lost Island opened but that dark ride is supposedly the best one yet by Sally.

    I'm originally from Chicago, But have moved down to this area temporarily. For the longest while I sort of put up my nose to holiday world. I mean, how good could a theme park be in the middle of nowhere? My family dragged me there one summer.... And it is amazing!!! I know that you might not have been there at the warmest time of the year, but it's almost a diservive that you didn't go to splashin' safari. That place is sensational... with water rides and coasters of its own.

    I loved holiday world! The perks, atmosphere, and lineup are great, and voyage is incredible! There were some minor annoyances (that could easily be fixed) that I will point out, but overall a great park!
    There were a lot of people getting right on thunderbird through the exit, which really extended the wait to an hour. I don't know if they were ADA, but it was frustrating nonetheless.
    I really wish they had weight scales BEFORE getting in the queue for their water coasters. We waited an hour for cheetah chase (which wasn't even close to worth the wait) and when we got weighed, we were slightly over the limit. It's frustrating waiting an hour just to be told that my dad can't ride with my brother and I. I felt really bad for him.
    Food was hit or miss. For some reason my family didn't want to do the Plymouth cafe, so our meals were some shop in splashin safari which was pretty good. There was a place that we ate that charged $14 for a cafeteria food level appearing Buffalo chicken sandwich. It tasted pretty good, but for a tiny sandwich it seemed underwhelming.
    Still an amazing park! I wonder if HW could iron out those minor flaws I mentioned and make the experience even better!

    They seriously need to work out their "fast pass" issues - no one should ever be asked not to ride and forfeit their place to another guest. This happened on our very first ride at the park, and again a couple of times during the day and really left a negative impression. Let your fast passers merge in the station and let them wait for the front row like everyone else if that's where they choose to sit. Cutting off a guest who has waited in TWO lines is unexceptable. NEVER hold another guest back against their will so someone can ride in their place!!!! HORRIBLE and unforgivable way to handle a situation that takes park operations from a 10 to a 0. Otherwise, most parks could learn a thing or two from the operations here. Free drinks, parking and sunscreen go a long way to make up for the small size of the park and weekend crowds. Voyage is in a coaster class of it's own and blows away every other wooden roller coaster. Park is small but has charm. Water park section just might be the best I've ever experienced. This park could really become a destination but it's got some growing pains to suffer through.
