The date, May 25, 2008, is their debut day. Jonghyun passed away December 18, 2017. He was 27. Some of his last words are “goodbye” and “say I did well.” Shinee had a concert in February of 2018 where they dedicated it to Jonghyun and played a unreleased song that had his vocals still on it with a mic in the middle and roses. They also wore all white during that song. Jonghyun suffered from depression and has sung about it in his solo albums. His last album released shortly after his death titled Poet Artist. Shinee celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2018, just months after. The color shown is their official fandom color. Jonghyun meant so much to so many and I still miss him every day. They weren't supposed to do the concert (2018) because Jonghyun just passed (Dec 2017), but that concert was already planned ahead of time even before the passing of Jonghyun. It was difficult for them to continue and show up, but the encouragement of Jonghyun's mother made that concert possible. We all thought that SM will cancel everything planned for SHINee then, but they were strong especially Jonghyun's mom. Jonghyun may left them, but she still has 4 sons left and thanks to the beautiful SHINee brotherhood.
What made me angry was that haters even had the audacity to accuse the members of using Jonghyun’s death as a ploy to gain sympathy concert goers! I actually applauded the members for fulfilling that promised concert just as Jonghyun would’ve wanted, despite how pained their hearts were. I sincerely hope he is watching the boys happily from heaven now.

That’s the part that always stays with me when I think about Jonghyun and his note. When I’m at my lowest, I tell myself I’m doing a good job, I’m doing well. I wish he had felt that more and maybe he would have stayed with us.
May 25, 2008 was their debut date. Pearl aqua is SHINee's signature color. You will see it repeated throughout their videos. People other than SHAWOLs never really understand how extremely close these boys are. No other boy group is as close as SHINee, and they are still close with Jonghyun's mother & sister. They all still live close to each other. In fact, I believe Key lives across the street from Taemin. They can get into each others homes (Taemin left a birthday cake in Key's fridge and stole one of his sweaters on Key's birthday while Key was on base). They survived this tragedy which would break many other groups because of their love for each other, and their vow to continue with Jonghyun's dream for SHINee. This took a lot of courage because during that time, the press and anti-fans were horrible to them, saying SHINee went on with their 2018 concert to make money off the tragedy. What they really wanted to do was to commemorate Jonghyun and share their grief and to begin healing with their fans. SHINee LOVES their fans. This meant a lot to SHAWOLs. Others just didn't get it. The entire "Story of Light" album was a dedication to Jonghyun and what he meant to them. The title track for each of the three albums features the story of their grieving process and ending with acceptance. Beginning with the track, "Good Evening" which is extremely deep and meaningful, showing all the stages of grief and featuring opening elements like bright flashes of light hurting Key's eyes and cameras pointed in Onew's face symbolizing the scrutiny from reporters to segments from Jonghyun's favorite story, The Little Prince, like the anime fox and brief B/W clips of the author behind Onew, and a shadow that represents Jonghyun appears inside the well in the forest as the other members are looking down into it. Next up for EP#2 was "I Want You" where the boys express how much they want Jonghyun back, "...I don't care if it's a dream, show yourself to me", but reality hits them in the morning. They sing about "I hope you'll come to me with a different ending then last time" and "I can't let you go". The song and the MV are very up beat which belies the lyrics underneath. The last EP of the album, #3, ends with this song, "Our Page", which shows us that reality has definitely hit them and lets us know that Jonghyun will never be forgotten because he's now a star shining brightly to guide their way with the words he's left behind....They will always be 5HINee. To this day they still remember and celebrate Jonghyun. Key leaves birthday wishes on Jonghyun's Instagram account and Taemin sang the song "Already", a song gifted to him by Jonghyun, for the first time in concert with Jonghyun's recorded background vocals. Their love for each other is real and deep. During a recent radio interview with Taemin for his new album, he was asked what a certain line in the lyrics of "Just Me and You" meant to him: "Erase all the rest of this mess, so we're the only ones left in this dizzy world." Taemin said that even if everything else disappeared, the one thing he would want to remain would be to always be surrounded by his SHINee hyungs. Even when they were in their 40s, 50s, 60s, after their careers were done, he wanted to live in the same building with them; some of them living above him and some of them living below him, so he could always hear them everywhere. This says it all. They are true brothers. They are family till the end, and they will always be 5. Thank you for the heartfelt respect you are showing to SHINee. Saddlemomma...very well said. You laid out this chapter of SHINee’s story so beautifully, it left me with a huge lump in my throat. Through their music, these young men have found a way to grieve their tremendous loss that invites their Shawol family to grieve with them and then, find that aqua-lit pathway to acceptance. I am a latecomer to SHINee, but I have traveled down the path over this past year or so and am anxiously awaiting where they will take us next when they finally reunite! This is a beautiful fandom of a multi-talented group. I hope there are more TooGrown reaction videos of SHINee videos to come to draw in more fans to this warm and loving family!
When I saw this interview I laugh so loud because what you want is to going at your Hyungs house and steal their cloths kkkk apart of Onew cloths kk I really love this interview of him, actually every time any of the members have opportunity to speak in some interview they speak about each other and all the Onew bogoshipo, Key bogoshipo Taemin bogoshipo or Minho bogoshipo is so heartwarming. And you can see their eyes SHINES when they speak about the other SHINee members, When Tae was so happy when Onew was back or when he show us the picture from an old concert with 5 members and he said that when he misses his hyungs he do that go watch old concerts

I am always hesitant to watch reactions to Our Page. Because a lot of people do not bother to look up the history of the song and the lyrics and the meaning behind it. But you did - even though, as you said, you don't even know this group all that well. Thank you. Your reaction was genuine - and that is exactly how it should be. Thank you again. The 5th microphone is to show that he will always be with them and the group will always be 5 irreplaceable members. In their 10th anniversary concert (first concert after his passing) they leave his space in the dances and stage open for him. Jonghyun's mother asked for Shinee to continue as a group with their music after he passed away. They also wanted to keep their promise that they made with Jonghyun, "Jonghyun hyung and the rest of us promised, when we were tired and wanted to quit, and when we wanted to run away since we were too weak, we will remember that [the fans] were our biggest strength, and because of this, we will keep singing. I think the best way to pay homage to the amazing talent that was Jonghyun is to keep enjoying and sharing the awesome music he made with Shinee and as a solo artist. There is a song by IU feat. Suga that is a song dedicated to Jonghyun and Sulli who were both friends with her. So the lyrics in the video and the visual representation of them in the M/V is just art. Its so emotional but worth watching. Sulli was also a kpop idol who committed suicide because she was being cyber bullied and couldn't take it anymore. Oh, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before but Jonghyun was actually the main, lead singer of the group so not having him here really did make a difference. He also took his place in the middle of the group. Anyways, I hope you'll love and react to them more!

This was a brave vid to make. As a Shawol who loves Jonghyun and whose boyfriend and 3 closest friends have struggled with depression as long as I have known them... I really appreciate the respect you approached this with and the effort made to bring awareness. While it is really close to my heart-- my wish that the world can be more understanding of what the people closest to me go through every day-- I also hope that some day people who are new to SHINee can listen to their music with joy instead of also bearing the pain. SHINee has been my light in life for so many years, and now that Key and Onew are back from the military, and soon Minho will be as well... I know they are stronger than ever and cannot wait to see 5HINee return to their music together.

Shinee is very special. The Princes of Kpop who set the standard for what an idol group should be. And Jonghyun was a wonderful man and maybe the best male vocalist in the genre. I've been a fan of shinee for a very long time (just about 10 years really) and I remember the day of his passing like it was yesterday. I was absolutely shocked. I couldn't believe it. The first few days I was so surprised and confused that I couldn't even think of crying but then it really hit me and I couldn't stop crying for weeks. I found this group when I really needed them the most and they've helped me so much. I'm so thankful but I feel regret not being able to be there for them. Listening or seeing shinee was painful even though I wanted to keep supporting them through this hard time and even now, it hurts. Jonghyun was an amazing, sweet, caring and incredibly kind person. I don't think I'll ever forget his bubbly laughter and his playful jokes. I miss him dearly and always will. Three of the members in shinee all got released from their military service not too long ago (the youngest still needs to go) but I believe we'll be seeing more of them soon. I hope you'll give this group a chance and react to their older songs as well with all five members. They have many, many great songs so I think you'll be fine with anything but if you want to start from the very beginning of their debut; go watch "Noona, You're So Pretty (Replay)"!

I wasn't really a follower of Shinee at the time of his passing; and really didn't know anything about him other than his name; but even I was reduced to tears that day through the love and pain that was expressed throughout the Shinee fandom! Thank you for your sincerity. It is a treasure in this mostly corrupt and fake world. The lights are "pearl aqua" which is SHINee's group color. As others note, May 25, 2008 was SHINee's debut date -- all the members were 18 or younger at that point. So, they lived together, trained together, performed together since they were, basically, kids. If you curious, you might want to listen some SHINee classics and/or to Jonghyun's (aka Jjong) solo music. Jong's death was a loss for many reasons but, for music lovers, we'll never get to enjoy what he might have composed or performed had he lived. Luckily, he did produce 4 albums (correct me if I am wrong, Shawols) - Base, Story Opus 1, Story Opus 2 and Poet/Artist. Jjong's music, while pop, is coolly experimental, almost jazzy and the lyrics are really something (note that Jong wrote the music and lyrics for his solo work and frequently wrote songs for SHINee and other artists). This year, the Seoul Philharmonic started to perform orchestral versions of Kpop. For their first songs to perform, out of all the Kpop songs out there, they chose a Red Velvet song and one of Jjong's songs called End of a Day. Jjong is one of the reasons SHINee is legend. His art, with SHINee and as a soloist, is going to stand the test of time.

Jonghyun wrote beautiful music for not only Shinee but other artists aswell ontop of his many talents. He was Taemin's #1 fan and MY GOD can he sing. He was always there to support and care for his friends. When he died i couldn't believe how much grief i felt for someone i had never met, for a celebrity. I felt like i was being dramatic as i had no kpop friends and didn't know why i was so affected. I am still broken hearted at the loss but i cant stop myself from listening to his beautiful music. I love the vidoes of shinee goofing around together like that krump add 😅 and the "ring ding dong" skit. SHINEE'S music has shaped alot of kpop music and you will see memes about never starting a person with ring ding dong as their first kpop song. Their live performances prove their vocals are no joke. I too can't explain the grief I felt for someone I didn't know (and who wasn't an English speaker, if you know what I mean). Don't think I'll ever feel that way again. I don't have any k-pop friends either so got no comfort from sharing the feelings. And I also love watching him and the boys goofing around. That krump....pure gold, just about sums up his adorable goofiness, haha.
New to this channel and subscribing because I love how you reacted to this song which was writtedn by SHINee members themselves. Thank you, i appreciate you checking out the lyrics first as it will make you understand the mv more. It wasn't shown in the lyric video but there is a part in the lyrics where Minho whispered something towards the end - he said "sugohaesseo" (during the woah woah part) meaning "you did well" as a message to Jonghyun. Yes at the start they were just going thru the motions and they were like numb, and didn't know how to snap out of it. Walking and seeing that greenish light is like them picking themselves up again and continue. That light actually is pearl aqua, the official color of SHINee, and may also represent the shawols (SHINee fans) and SHINee as a group. It's like guiding them to continue and so we see them going up the stage and performing again with that mic stand as a reminder that Jonghyun is still with them. That they are still a 5 member group.

I haven't cried over this song in a little while, but whew, it really got me again this time. Thank you for your emotion during this. It shows that despite you not knowing too much about SHINee, you understand, and you care. I'm glad I don't cry over it too often, because although this is a beautiful way to cherish his memory, I feel like he would want us to remember the happy times more than the sad. I thank SHINee every day, for letting us grieve with them in this way. For showing us this part of themselves. I have been a shawol for 12 years, and I couldn't be more proud of them. Thank you for this. I'm really happy you looked up the meaning of how important this song is to the group and fans... It still hurts when I think about that day, but I try my best to stay positive. As someone who also struggles with mental health, I think his music is actually a huge comfort. Please check out some of Jonghyun's songs like "End of a Day", "Shining", "Lonely", "Skeleton Flower", "Hashtag", "Beyond Our Spring", and "Shining". It's still hard for some Shawol to see him since they miss him so much, but we are also glad to have people discover what a beautiful and bright person he is. I also suggest looking more into SHINee as a group. In the music video, the color is the group's color and the color of the Shawol fanlights. They see the light which reminds them that he's still with him and they rise to the stars to sing to him, letting him know that they are still together as five and will carry on. Even in the most recent SHINee concert, they had a mic for him. The group are more than this incident and so his Jonghyun, so we fans encourage people to look more into the group and to also stay strong as we carry on. Thanks for this reaction and for your words.
I still remember the day I found out and it hit me in an unpredictable way. SHINee was one of the first groups I heard in 2009 and they were already considered legends at that point. I could see them being married and mentors to a new generation. It shocked me to realize, one day I will be older than Jonghyun. Even though he was my senior by five years. If you listen to his solo work, I found some areas where he and Taemin drew from the same inspiration and it really brought home that he lives through them. Stay healthy everyone and know you are loved by someone.
Being a Shawol for 10 yrs it is hard not to think of Jonghyun. The day he passed in 2017 in December it was like a great light went out, Shinee color is blue. His passing affected a lot of people. He wrote songs for other idols EXO Playboy, Lee Hi Breathe, etc. 💙
I can't help but cry knowing that he's truly gone. I remember waking up that morning to see an article that said he had passed away. As a fan I can't imagine what his members and loved ones went through, it was already so painful. The 2nd generation of kpop idols gave me so much life and so much strength through the hardest years of my life. Thank you for such a genuine and sincere video to such precious gems.

SHINee's and shawols process to cope with this hasn't been easy, but we're closer to each other as a family and we know he's always there, our dear angel! you should also check their 2018 concert in Japan, the concert was a tribute to him, so SHINee and shawols could honor him together, it's quite a tearful experience but totally worth watching, specially the songs "From now on" and "Diamond Sky". Jonghyun is a precious soul. He passed in December of 2017. Mental health is becoming easier to talk about in South Korea, but it wasn't that way then. It's still very new. I was late to discover Shinee, but you can feel in this song how much he meant to them and those who still adore him. I lost a friend last year to suicide, and an uncle the year before. It's not something I could ever understand, I want to protect those I love but things like that make you see how powerless you are sometimes. All you can do is be there.

The lyrics made me cry even after about 3 years. The thing is I didn't know shinee till this accident happened but after hearing about the bad news, I got to dig in shinee and know them better and as I was getting more familiar , I was just experiencing more sadness and sorrow for Jonghyun as I could see how great of a person he was and I felt so sorry for not knowing him before, but nothing could've done and now I just listen to his works and enjoy his great masterpieces hoping he is at least not suffering anymore. Rest in peace Jonghyun.

Another of jonghyun song that always made my heart hurt is Breathe. When Kyuhyun sang it on masked singer, I can't hold back my tears. Because Kyuhyun is one of Jonghyun friend since trainee and Jonghyun passed away when Kyu was in the military. So I can only imagine how helpless it made Kyu feel. I'm so happy that this year Heechul decided to mass sue all the hate commenters.

You don't have to always react to emotional videos, but I think it is important for people to know there is so much more to the Kpop music than flashy colors/dance moves type of MVs. Jonghyun was such a talented composer and I wonder about the songs we are missing out on because he is not around. Yes, I think we have missed out on hundreds of songs he would have given us. Even when he got older and perhaps stopped performing, I could imagine him writing songs for others; also writing poetry and novels, who knows......aah.

I think we all go through very bad times at some time in our life, its important to keep holding on because better things will come. Please talk to someone if you are feeling like that. The first time i saw this mv cry from the beginning, i didn't know how it would end and when i got to the end i couldn't stop myself. People really don't know what goes on in the head of someone who commits suicide, or do those of us who have ever tried it. Depression is one of the most horrible illnesses in terms of the psyche, and many people still don't believe that this is an attempt on life. It takes a lot to stick your head out and want to breathe. For those who couldn't make it, for those of us who are on the seemingly endless path and for those who made it out, thank you.

The date, May 25, 2008, is their debut day. Jonghyun passed away December 18, 2017. He was 27. Some of his last words are “goodbye” and “say I did well.” Shinee had a concert in February of 2018 where they dedicated it to Jonghyun and played a unreleased song that had his vocals still on it with a mic in the middle and roses. They also wore all white during that song. Jonghyun suffered from depression and has sung about it in his solo albums. His last album released shortly after his death titled Poet Artist. Shinee celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2018, just months after. The color shown is their official fandom color. Jonghyun meant so much to so many and I still miss him every day. They weren't supposed to do the concert (2018) because Jonghyun just passed (Dec 2017), but that concert was already planned ahead of time even before the passing of Jonghyun. It was difficult for them to continue and show up, but the encouragement of Jonghyun's mother made that concert possible. We all thought that SM will cancel everything planned for SHINee then, but they were strong especially Jonghyun's mom. Jonghyun may left them, but she still has 4 sons left and thanks to the beautiful SHINee brotherhood.
What made me angry was that haters even had the audacity to accuse the members of using Jonghyun’s death as a ploy to gain sympathy concert goers! I actually applauded the members for fulfilling that promised concert just as Jonghyun would’ve wanted, despite how pained their hearts were. I sincerely hope he is watching the boys happily from heaven now.
May 25, 2008 is SHINee's debut date. The color is SHINee's color Pearl Aqua. You could have spent that whole video silent and it would have been absolutely okay. May 25, 2008 was their debut date. Pearl aqua is SHINee's signature color. You will see it repeated throughout their videos.
People other than SHAWOLs never really understand how extremely close these boys are. No other boy group is as close as SHINee, and they are still close with Jonghyun's mother & sister. They all still live close to each other. In fact, I believe Key lives across the street from Taemin. They can get into each others homes (Taemin left a birthday cake in Key's fridge and stole one of his sweaters on Key's birthday while Key was on base). They survived this tragedy which would break many other groups because of their love for each other, and their vow to continue with Jonghyun's dream for SHINee. This took a lot of courage because during that time, the press and anti-fans were horrible to them, saying SHINee went on with their 2018 concert to make money off the tragedy. What they really wanted to do was to commemorate Jonghyun and share their grief and to begin healing with their fans. SHINee LOVES their fans. This meant a lot to SHAWOLs. Others just didn't get it.
The entire "Story of Light" album was a dedication to Jonghyun and what he meant to them. The title track for each of the three albums features the story of their grieving process and ending with acceptance. Beginning with the track, "Good Evening" which is extremely deep and meaningful, showing all the stages of grief and featuring opening elements like bright flashes of light hurting Key's eyes and cameras pointed in Onew's face symbolizing the scrutiny from reporters to segments from Jonghyun's favorite story, The Little Prince, like the anime fox and brief B/W clips of the author behind Onew, and a shadow that represents Jonghyun appears inside the well in the forest as the other members are looking down into it.
Next up for EP#2 was "I Want You" where the boys express how much they want Jonghyun back, "...I don't care if it's a dream, show yourself to me", but reality hits them in the morning. They sing about "I hope you'll come to me with a different ending then last time" and "I can't let you go". The song and the MV are very up beat which belies the lyrics underneath.
The last EP of the album, #3, ends with this song, "Our Page", which shows us that reality has definitely hit them and lets us know that Jonghyun will never be forgotten because he's now a star shining brightly to guide their way with the words he's left behind....They will always be 5HINee.
To this day they still remember and celebrate Jonghyun. Key leaves birthday wishes on Jonghyun's Instagram account and Taemin sang the song "Already", a song gifted to him by Jonghyun, for the first time in concert with Jonghyun's recorded background vocals.
Their love for each other is real and deep. During a recent radio interview with Taemin for his new album, he was asked what a certain line in the lyrics of "Just Me and You" meant to him: "Erase all the rest of this mess, so we're the only ones left in this dizzy world." Taemin said that even if everything else disappeared, the one thing he would want to remain would be to always be surrounded by his SHINee hyungs. Even when they were in their 40s, 50s, 60s, after their careers were done, he wanted to live in the same building with them; some of them living above him and some of them living below him, so he could always hear them everywhere. This says it all. They are true brothers. They are family till the end, and they will always be 5.

Saddlemomma...very well said. You laid out this chapter of SHINee’s story so beautifully, it left me with a huge lump in my throat. Through their music, these young men have found a way to grieve their tremendous loss that invites their Shawol family to grieve with them and then, find that aqua-lit pathway to acceptance. I am a latecomer to SHINee, but I have traveled down the path over this past year or so and am anxiously awaiting where they will take us next when they finally reunite! This is a beautiful fandom of a multi-talented group. I hope there are more TooGrown reaction videos of SHINee videos to come to draw in more fans to this warm and loving family!
When I saw this interview I laugh so loud because what you want is to going at your Hyungs house and steal their cloths kkkk apart of Onew cloths kk I really love this interview of him, actually every time any of the members have opportunity to speak in some interview they speak about each other and all the Onew bogoshipo, Key bogoshipo Taemin bogoshipo or Minho bogoshipo is so heartwarming. And you can see their eyes SHINES when they speak about the other SHINee members, When Tae was so happy when Onew was back or when he show us the picture from an old concert with 5 members and he said that when he misses his hyungs he do that go watch old concerts

I am always hesitant to watch reactions to Our Page. Because a lot of people do not bother to look up the history of the song and the lyrics and the meaning behind it. But you did - even though, as you said, you don't even know this group all that well. Thank you. Your reaction was genuine - and that is exactly how it should be. Thank you again. The 5th microphone is to show that he will always be with them and the group will always be 5 irreplaceable members. In their 10th anniversary concert (first concert after his passing) they leave his space in the dances and stage open for him.
Jonghyun's mother asked for Shinee to continue as a group with their music after he passed away. They also wanted to keep their promise that they made with Jonghyun, "Jonghyun hyung and the rest of us promised, when we were tired and wanted to quit, and when we wanted to run away since we were too weak, we will remember that [the fans] were our biggest strength, and because of this, we will keep singing. Let us overcome this battle together." - Shinee's Minho ( quote from handwritten letter after Jonghyun's passing)
I think the best way to pay homage to the amazing talent that was Jonghyun is to keep enjoying and sharing the awesome music he made with Shinee and as a solo artist. There is a song by IU feat. Suga that is a song dedicated to Jonghyun and Sulli who were both friends with her. So the lyrics in the video and the visual representation of them in the M/V is just art. Its so emotional but worth watching. Sulli was also a kpop idol who committed suicide because she was being cyber bullied and couldn't take it anymore. R.I.P Jonghyun R.I.P Sulli

Oh, I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before but Jonghyun was actually the main, lead singer of the group so not having him here really did make a difference. He also took his place in the middle of the group. Anyways, I hope you'll love and react to them more!

This was a brave vid to make. As a Shawol who loves Jonghyun and whose boyfriend and 3 closest friends have struggled with depression as long as I have known them... I really appreciate the respect you approached this with and the effort made to bring awareness. While it is really close to my heart-- my wish that the world can be more understanding of what the people closest to me go through every day-- I also hope that some day people who are new to SHINee can listen to their music with joy instead of also bearing the pain. SHINee has been my light in life for so many years, and now that Key and Onew are back from the military, and soon Minho will be as well... I know they are stronger than ever and cannot wait to see 5HINee return to their music together.

Shinee is very special. The Princes of Kpop who set the standard for what an idol group should be. And Jonghyun was a wonderful man and maybe the best male vocalist in the genre. We will always miss him and cherish him. You may be familiar with Taemin who is from Shinee and is also in SuperM. You should learn more about Shinee. True greatness.

I've been a fan of shinee for a very long time (just about 10 years really) and I remember the day of his passing like it was yesterday. I was absolutely shocked. I couldn't believe it. The first few days I was so surprised and confused that I couldn't even think of crying but then it really hit me and I couldn't stop crying for weeks. I found this group when I really needed them the most and they've helped me so much.
I'm so thankful but I feel regret not being able to be there for them.
Listening or seeing shinee was painful even though I wanted to keep supporting them through this hard time and even now, it hurts. Jonghyun was an amazing, sweet, caring and incredibly kind person. I don't think I'll ever forget his bubbly laughter and his playful jokes. I miss him dearly and always will.
Three of the members in shinee all got released from their military service not too long ago (the youngest still needs to go) but I believe we'll be seeing more of them soon. I hope you'll give this group a chance and react to their older songs as well with all five members. They have many, many great songs so I think you'll be fine with anything but if you want to start from the very beginning of their debut; go watch "Noona, You're So Pretty (Replay)"!

I wasn't really a follower of Shinee at the time of his passing; and really didn't know anything about him other than his name; but even I was reduced to tears that day through the love and pain that was expressed throughout the Shinee fandom! Thank you for your sincerity. It is a treasure in this mostly corrupt and fake world. The lights are "pearl aqua" which is SHINee's group color. As others note, May 25, 2008 was SHINee's debut date -- all the members were 18 or younger at that point. So, they lived together, trained together, performed together since they were, basically, kids. If you curious, you might want to listen some SHINee classics and/or to Jonghyun's (aka Jjong) solo music. Jong's death was a loss for many reasons but, for music lovers, we'll never get to enjoy what he might have composed or performed had he lived. Luckily, he did produce 4 albums (correct me if I am wrong, Shawols) - Base, Story Opus 1, Story Opus 2 and Poet/Artist. Jjong's music, while pop, is coolly experimental, almost jazzy and the lyrics are really something (note that Jong wrote the music and lyrics for his solo work and frequently wrote songs for SHINee and other artists). This year, the Seoul Philharmonic started to perform orchestral versions of Kpop. For their first songs to perform, out of all the Kpop songs out there, they chose a Red Velvet song and one of Jjong's songs called End of a Day. Jjong is one of the reasons SHINee is legend. His art, with SHINee and as a soloist, is going to stand the test of time.

Jonghyun wrote beautiful music for not only Shinee but other artists aswell ontop of his many talents. He was Taemin's #1 fan and MY GOD can he sing. He was always there to support and care for his friends. When he died i couldn't believe how much grief i felt for someone i had never met, for a celebrity. I felt like i was being dramatic as i had no kpop friends and didn't know why i was so affected. I am still broken hearted at the loss but i cant stop myself from listening to his beautiful music. I love the vidoes of shinee goofing around together like that krump add 😅 and the "ring ding dong" skit. SHINEE'S music has shaped alot of kpop music and you will see memes about never starting a person with ring ding dong as their first kpop song. Their live performances prove their vocals are no joke. I too can't explain the grief I felt for someone I didn't know (and who wasn't an English speaker, if you know what I mean). Don't think I'll ever feel that way again. I don't have any k-pop friends either so got no comfort from sharing the feelings. And I also love watching him and the boys goofing around. That krump....pure gold, just about sums up his adorable goofiness, haha.

It wasn't shown in the lyric video but there is a part in the lyrics where Minho whispered something towards the end - he said "sugohaesseo" (during the woah woah part) meaning "you did well" as a message to Jonghyun.
Yes at the start they were just going thru the motions and they were like numb, and didn't know how to snap out of it. Walking and seeing that greenish light is like them picking themselves up again and continue. That light actually is pearl aqua, the official color of SHINee, and may also represent the shawols (SHINee fans) and SHINee as a group. It's like guiding them to continue and so we see them going up the stage and performing again with that mic stand as a reminder that Jonghyun is still with them. That they are still a 5 member group.

Thank you for this. I'm really happy you looked up the meaning of how important this song is to the group and fans... It still hurts when I think about that day, but I try my best to stay positive. As someone who also struggles with mental health, I think his music is actually a huge comfort. Please check out some of Jonghyun's songs like "End of a Day", "Shining", "Lonely", "Skeleton Flower", "Hashtag", "Beyond Our Spring", and "Shining". It's still hard for some Shawol to see him since they miss him so much, but we are also glad to have people discover what a beautiful and bright person he is. I also suggest looking more into SHINee as a group.
In the music video, the color is the group's color and the color of the Shawol fanlights. They see the light which reminds them that he's still with him and they rise to the stars to sing to him, letting him know that they are still together as five and will carry on. Even in the most recent SHINee concert, they had a mic for him. The group are more than this incident and so his Jonghyun, so we fans encourage people to look more into the group and to also stay strong as we carry on. Thanks for this reaction and for your words.
I still remember the day I found out and it hit me in an unpredictable way. SHINee was one of the first groups I heard in 2009 and they were already considered legends at that point. I could see them being married and mentors to a new generation. It shocked me to realize, one day I will be older than Jonghyun. Even though he was my senior by five years. If you listen to his solo work, I found some areas where he and Taemin drew from the same inspiration and it really brought home that he lives through them. Stay healthy everyone and know you are loved by someone.

Being a Shawol for 10 yrs it is hard not to think of Jonghyun. The day he passed in 2017 in December it was like a great light went out, Shinee color is blue. His passing affected a lot of people. He wrote songs for other idols EXO Playboy, Lee Hi Breathe, etc. 💙
I can't help but cry knowing that he's truly gone. I remember waking up that morning to see an article that said he had passed away. As a fan I can't imagine what his members and loved ones went through, it was already so painful. The 2nd generation of kpop idols gave me so much life and so much strength through the hardest years of my life. Thank you for such a genuine and sincere video to such precious gems.

This song is so emotional and very meaningful. SHINee's and shawols process to cope with this hasn't been easy, but we're closer to each other as a family and we know he's always there, our dear angel! you should also check their 2018 concert in Japan, the concert was a tribute to him, so SHINee and shawols could honor him together, it's quite a tearful experience but totally worth watching, specially the songs "From now on" and "Diamond Sky".

Jonghyun is a precious soul. He passed in December of 2017. Mental health is becoming easier to talk about in South Korea, but it wasn't that way then. It's still very new. But please keep watching all 5 members of shinee. Shinee will always be 5 and Jonghyun would want you to listen to and enjoy their music. Solo stuff and group.
the day after jonghyun passed away something strange happened... the moon turned aqua pearl green. that's not even a joke, it really happened, at least in asia. many people took pictures of the moon that night and it felt like it was jonghyun's last goodbye to us... i'm sure you can find to pics on twitter, still, i still can't believe it really happened, but it did... aqua pearl green is shinee's official color and when the boys look up, they see this color...

I was late to discover Shinee, but you can feel in this song how much he meant to them and those who still adore him. I lost a friend last year to suicide, and an uncle the year before. It's not something I could ever understand, I want to protect those I love but things like that make you see how powerless you are sometimes. All you can do is be there.

The lyrics made me cry even after about 3 years. The thing is I didn't know shinee till this accident happened but after hearing about the bad news, I got to dig in shinee and know them better and as I was getting more familiar , I was just experiencing more sadness and sorrow for Jonghyun as I could see how great of a person he was and I felt so sorry for not knowing him before, but nothing could've done and now I just listen to his works and enjoy his great masterpieces hoping he is at least not suffering anymore. Rest in peace Jonghyun.
thanks for this respectful reaction to one of the songs that brought much trauma healing to the entire fandom and SHINee themselves too. we hope you can react to Jonghyun and more of SHINee. Jonghyun was one of the (if not the best) vocalists and song-writers in the industry, and he was such a wonderful human being. Another of jonghyun song that always made my heart hurt is Breathe. When Kyuhyun sang it on masked singer, I can't hold back my tears. Because Kyuhyun is one of Jonghyun friend since trainee and Jonghyun passed away when Kyu was in the military. So I can only imagine how helpless it made Kyu feel. I'm so happy that this year Heechul decided to mass sue all the hate commenters.

Yes, I think we have missed out on hundreds of songs he would have given us. Even when he got older and perhaps stopped performing, I could imagine him writing songs for others; also writing poetry and novels, who knows......aah.

It really breaks my heart when someone is suffering so much that the only way they find is taking their lives. I think we all go through very bad times at some time in our life, its important to keep holding on because better things will come. Please talk to someone if you are feeling like that. The first time i saw this mv cry from the beginning, i didn't know how it would end and when i got to the end i couldn't stop myself. People really don't know what goes on in the head of someone who commits suicide, or do those of us who have ever tried it. Depression is one of the most horrible illnesses in terms of the psyche, and many people still don't believe that this is an attempt on life. It takes a lot to stick your head out and want to breathe. For those who couldn't make it, for those of us who are on the seemingly endless path and for those who made it out, thank you.
