To understand SHINee's "Good Evening" MV what you need to know is that it had only been about 6 months when this MV came out since Jonghyun died, and this song and MV is all about how SHINee and Shawols have been grieving and are finally ready to begin to heal and come out of the darkness into the light. The album is called The Story of Light and it's all about finding the light out of the darkness, etc. It's about how the members are learning to continue on without Jonghyun and find happiness and light in a situation that will forever be difficult. May 25, 2018, when this MV was released, was SHINee's 10th anniversary so this was also important because it was a comeback to commemorate their 10 years as a group. The choreography for "Good Evening" is very deliberate. The reason the choreography is like that is because it depicts them going through the grieving process and it tells the story of all the emotions they went through and how, now at the end, they have made the choice to continue on as a group and keep on running, etc. The dance is all choreographed, but SHINee are just so good that they make it look like its freestyle. :D The choreography is really complex and beautiful and really fits the song well. It becomes clearer once you see it in its entirety and start to understand the story behind it all. You really should check out SHINee's dance practice video for "Good Evening" to see the full choreography. Fun fact: the choreographer for SHINee's "Good Evening" was the choreographer who was featured in Taemin's "Move" MV, as well as several of Taemin's other songs. She is a famous Japanese choreographer who has known Taemin for years, so it was really special she was able to work on this project because she got to be a part of SHINee's healing process. In the MV, not only is the extra shadow that appears when they look into the tunnel/well at the end speculated to be Jonghyun's shadow, but the fox is thought to also represent him. Onew intensely stares into the eyes of the fox, almost as if he is communicating with the fox through his thoughts, and, to me, it's as if he is sharing a moment with Jonghyun. There is a fox in the story "The Little Prince" and "The Little Prince' was one of Jonghyun's favorite stories. The image of the man behind them is the author of the book "The Little Prince." Plus, a fox often represents the afterlife and the spirit of someone who has passed on reincarnated in many cultures. Also in the beginning you may notice an empty chair. An empty chair is often used to represent the spirit of someone who has passed on as well. But that's just a small portion of the hidden messages within this MV. If you really delve in deep you will discover that the whole MV can be connected to SHINee forever being 5 members and them including Jonghyun in all that they do. There are 5 trees at the end which could represent the fact that, as Onew has said, even though you may only see 4 members on stage, SHINee will forever be a group of 5. They are in a room full of cameras and their images are being projected on the TV screens, which I see as representing the fact that because SHINee is living in the public eye they can never escape from always being watched by the public. Which doesn't allow them the private space to really grieve and to express themselves privately and they are always being judged (both the members in their grieving process and what Jonghyun had to go through and what ultimately led him to feeling the way he did, etc.) This MV used a lot of green and aqua blue light to depict the cool and somber feel of the story, but it also was used because, as I think you know, aqua blue/green is SHINee's fan color, and it was used to represent Jonghyun's presence all around them and the support and solidarity they felt with their fans, Shawols. The story in the MV is showing the 5 stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance) the members went through and how they have now at the end of the MV started to find their way out of it and have made the choice to continue to keep on running and continue on as a group, etc.. But I could go on and on ... every part of this MV has a deeper message and meaning, you just have to open yourself up to the fact that everything in this MV has multiple meanings and purposes. You see Minho with those oranges, which is really just a giant pile of orange peels, because this part is supposed to depict how he is blindly just going through life, not even able to process what is happening around him. He is not even looking at the peels. It is like his body and mind is on autopilot. If you notice none of the members ever make eye contact with the camera the entire MV and even in their live performances of the song, you will never see them look at the camera. This was done deliberately as well because they wanted to show how in their grief they were blind to everything that was going on around them and they were closed off to the world and didn't care what was happening outside of themselves even though the world was watching their every move. The part where Key smashes the piano is only one example of how SHINee shows how they felt for a while after Jonghyun died -- they were angry at everything, including music, and in a way they were blaming "music" and their careers for what happened and in the MV they were taking their anger out on the piano, etc. The plastic sheet and them flailing under water is supposed to represent how they felt suffocated in their grief and how grieving while in the public eye made them feel trapped at times, etc. Every scene, every image, every movement in their dance, every look, every moment they stand still or look blankly, etc. is very deliberate and is there for a reason. This comeback is part of a three part release celebrating SHINee's 10th anniversary. So they released 3 mini albums with 5 songs each in their The Story of Light trilogy and they had 3 comebacks each 2 weeks apart to showcase their lead track on each of their albums. "Good Evening" and "All Day All Night" were their comeback tracks from Episode 1, " I Want You" and "Who Waits for Love" were their comebacks from Episode 2 and Episode 3 was "Our Page" and "Tonight". Their comeback lasted 6 weeks to represent the fact that it was SHINee's 6th "full length" album. We were so spoiled this comeback; it felt so nice to see them doing what they love again. At the end of the six weeks they released a special final MV to celebrate their anniversary and all they have been through over the past 10 years with their song "Countless." "Countless" was an epilogue track that was added to their repackaged Story of Light album. Before this comeback SHINee had just come off their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) world tour and the members were doing solo activities as they worked on what was going to be an epic 10th anniversary comeback.With Jonghyun's passing, that set them back a few months because they were grieving. It also took time to figure out how they were supposed to function without Jonghyun. But you also should know that, actually, SHINee never really stopped working. Two months after Jonghyun died SHINee held their SHINee World -- The Best from Now On Concert in Japan and they pretty much were working nonstop since then until their enlistment. That concert had originally been planned as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and it had already been sold out. So SHINee felt obligated to honor their fans and continue the concert despite everything, which meant some extra work, because they already had been planning everything with Jonghyun. So they had to quickly go back to the drawing board and figure out how to do it with only 4 members and still honor Jonghyun's memory. In SHINee's fan meeting/concert for their 10th anniversary the members all vowed that SHINee will always be 5 and that Jonghyun will always be involved in everything they do. And during the concert when they performed the choreo for some of their most iconic songs they intentionally left Jonghyun's spot open and only filled in for him when something just wouldn't work without someone in that position. I think we are always going to have reminders of him in all that SHINee does from now on, and that is the way it should be. He was loved and will never be forgotten, and when possible, should always be involved in things that have to do with SHINee. OT5 forever and ever. I think we can feel Jonghyun's presence and influence in this album and songs because a lot of what made SHINee's sound uniquely SHINee (and this album is no exception) was because of Jonghyun. He not only shaped SHINee's sound because he was the main vocal of the group, but he also wrote and composed around 40% of SHINee's songs, so he can be felt in everything they do. It wouldn't be SHINee if we didn't hear his influence shine through in their music, that is what makes SHINee's sound so unlike any other. I think from now on we will always be searching for the hidden messages and moments that represent Jonghyun in everything SHINee does.

Wow, I’ve never actually watched the MV with lyrics, it somehow made me cry even harder. It makes me so emotional that they still included Jonghyun even though he’s physically not here anymore in all the MVs. Almost all Shawols believe that the fox in Good Evening and I Want You is Jonghyun because his favorite story was “the little prince”. And then if you look closely on the shadows in the well at the end of Good Evening, you can actually see a fifth person, representing him. And then in Our Page, you have the mic stand to show that he will always still be apart of Shinee as well as many references within the lyrics. Even if he isn’t physically here, he still remains in our hearts and is looking over the guys from above. I, as well as many others, interpret the 3 songs as representing the 5 stages of grief, with Good Evening being Anger and Denial, I Want You being the bargaining stage, and then Our Page being Depression and Acceptance.
after midnight, jonghyun hosted a radio where he listened to a lot of people’s stories (even composed songs for them), & comforted a lot of people with his words. he also wanted to be a writer, and he wrote a book too. his tattoo read “poet | artist”. language, stories and words mean a lot to him. that’s why all their references to words, story & poem in the song mean so much more.
I loved what you said about 'our page' being hopeful and light. Their 10th anniversary album was called 'The Story of Light' and I think the idea was show Shinee finding light out of the drakness of their grief and also help fans deal with their grief.
You have to watch "I Want You" as well, it is technically the 2nd of this "storyline" it goes, "Good Evening" , "I Want You", then "Our Page" Plus it's just a wonderful song
I had never seen the Our Page MV with the lyrics at the same time. Goddamn it, the chorus hit me like a truck, I'm still kind of crying while writing this. I agree with every thing you said about the song, and am looking forward to your videos on their other stuff!
He not just did well... He did as great as one can do. And he wont be forgotten never... Because when you do want you love with so much passion, and talent, you live forever through your art. Every day I listen to him I'll cry for the overwhelming amount of talent he holds for 27 years. I'm proud of him, I admire him so much, not just him, SHINee as a whole and as soloist. "You did well" He really did. I absolutely cannot watch this MV without crying my eyes out (the whole Story of Light, really), but I feel like, at this point, my tears aren't from sadness anymore. At this point I can celebrate Jognhyun's life with true joy again, and watching Our Page makes me SO PROUD of Shinee! They kept it going, they're together. Taemin has been performing alone for two years when the others members were in military service and when Minho got out he just said the cutest happiest "Shinee's back". My boys... really...
I am glad you were able to read the lyrics while watching SHINee's "Our Page". I feel like out of all kpop songs in existence this is one of the most important songs to know what the lyrics are about. Every word of the song was wrote by the members and it is all about Jonghyun.The lyrics make reference to things that Jonghyun said to them in the letter he left them when he died. Every word is talking about their relationship as a group and their relationship with Jonghyun.The song and lyrics are a tribute to him and the more than 10 years the members spent together as a group. In the MV the members are just trying to go about their everyday lives in a world that no longer makes sense to them. It is showing them grieving Jonghyun's death. This song is very powerful and full of meaning. The message each of them sings about is very personal to them, it's about their journey as a group and how much impact Jonghyun had in their life. And, as the members have said, it's about all the things they wish they could have told Jonghyun, etc. "Our Page" is epic because it should be epic. It was the song that made Shawols feel like it was finally OK to start to get back to a little bit of normal again. It was a moment of collective catharsis for everyone within the fandom and it showed us that the members were finally ready to get back to what they loved and they were more dedicated then ever to continue on as a group. I feel like people miss so much of the meaning and story in the MV if you don't know what the lyrics are about. Don't worry, you're not supposed to hold your emotions in during this song. The whole point of the song was to allow us all to grieve and to find closure, etc. It's OK to cry, it's meant to be emotional. In the MV, in the beginning you see each of the members struggling just to carry on with everyday life. But because they have no other choice, they all decide that the only way to honor Jonghyun's memory is to continue on. So you see Onew get back to composing songs (Jonghyun was the songwriter of the group so, this scene also is supposed to invoke memories of him as well), Taemin goes back to the gym (Jonghyun also spent a lot of time in the gym, so this was also Taemin's way of connecting with Jonghyun.) Minho is one of the top actors in Korea and when Jonghyun died he was on set filming for a drama, so we see Minho trying to get back to his normal routine and back to filming. And Key is one of the members, besides Taemin, who is known for his dancing, so you see him getting back to the dance studio and practicing the choreography for his solo debut album. Fun fact: We didn't know that what we saw in this MV was a secret reveal of Key's choreography for his solo releases, but since then, now that Key's solo album and MVs have come out, we realize that this was the choreography for one of his solo songs. The background beat of the song is supposed to represent the heartbeat of the group, the heartbeat of the fans, everything that kept the members moving forward and what brings them together as a group, etc. Every part of this song was done very purposefully and deliberately. Yet again, the green/aqua blue light you see all around them is SHINee's fan color, and it represents how Jonghyun is always all around them and how he is calling them back to the stage. The light washes over the members representing how the fans' love, support and solidarity within the fandom gives the members the strength to carry on and to continue as a group. At one point you see each of the members standing still in a room while the world around them continues on. This represents how their world came to a standstill when Jonghyun died and how for a while it felt like their world stopped while everyone else continued living their lives. As they climb the stairs to the stage you see the lights come on one by one, I like to think that was each of the fans sending their support to encourage them to keep moving forward. And then once on stage you see the members all standing on stage with the one empty mic stand in the center that represents Jonghyun. Fun fact: Just like SHINee's "1 Of 1" MV was 5:25 long because it was supposed to represent how SHINee debuted 5/25/08, "Our Page" was 5:10 long because it was a reference to the fact that SHINee will forever be a group of 5 and this album is celebrating their 10th anniversary. So, this album, The Story of Light, is all about Jonghyun and every song has something to do with what they went through in the 6 months leading up to this album release, etc. "Good Evening" is about SHINee's grieving process and the way the public sees them. "I want you" Is about learning to find happiness again and how they are personally dealing with everything that happened and "Our Page" is the members telling their story and what they want the world to know about them as a group and what they will remember and miss the most about Jonghyun, etc. And "Countless" is showing how SHINee has now come out on the other side and is now ready to start to move on.
I literally cannot listen to Our Page and have the lyrics in front of me at the same time otherwise, I will start crying. Every. Single. Time. I don't know how they did it, but they made a song that is heart-wrenching and uplifting at the same time, and I think it is absolutely gorgeous
If you watch a live performance of “Our Page” near the end you can hear Onew say “소 고했어 “ which means you did well and he looks up into the sky and smiles.
You cannot not cry seeing Our Page for the first time. Even if you get through most of it the second Jinki says "You did well" Is a shot through the heart. I too really like that it's not a sad song, it's a farewell, but it's also full of gratefulness for the memories and hope for moving on.
F(x) '4 walls' and SHINee's 'View' are sister songs... Initially these were written for the opposite groups by the producer( and both songs r similar in music, I mean u can mash them up and never know which song is which part), later on SHINee took view for their 'odd' album and f(x) recorded '4 walls' - as per what people have said there is actually a demo SHINee version of '4 walls' since they had already recorded a demo version before going with 'view'... Maybe 'Good evening' reminds you of 'cupid' ? Because they sampled it a little bit with credits here...
I've been shawol for a year and a half. I felt ridiculous feeling so heartbroken over his passing. But then I let it happen. I let myself grieve for someone I never knew and who had passed before I knew his name. And now, on this side of that, my appreciation for life and his talent and kindness and humor...it's gone beyond what I could imagine. You have a shawol heart. It never gets easier, but it does get better. Jonghyun will always be loved and missed. But his voice lives in us forever.
I rarely cry, even if I want to, but Our Page is that one song that regularly makes me tear up Especially seeing the mv together with the lyrics hits hard, I'd only seen the lyrics separately before today
The beautiful and heart-breaking thing about the Our Page music video was that each of the guys portrayed all the things that Jonghyun also loved. Onew was in front of the computer and composing music. Taemin was exercising. Key was dancing. Minho was being the celebrity. All of them were facets of Jonghyun's life that enjoyed and happily shared with everyone he loved, and yet those exact same facets made the SHINee guys just as melancholic over him not being there anymore.

I've loved your SHINee series and this is no exception. your thoughts at the end were wonderful. as someone else who became a fan more recently, I can relate to the not feeling like you should cry, but as fans (and as people) I think it's important to remember that comparing your pain to others' isn't helpful to anyone and our feelings are valid as they are. it's ok to be sad about a sad thing. I'm really glad there's a video of Our Page with the lyrics, too, it's such a bummer that the official video doesn't have captions. I'm very selfishly glad SHINee is still together and preparing to put out new music for us, and I know that Jonghyun will always be with them. no one could ever forget such a wonderful person and such an amazing artist. looking forward to more SHINee from you!
The first time i heard Our Page, i cried even though i didn't understand the lyrics. But still, i somehow felt the pain, the longing and the deep love the members are feeling while singing this song. When I saw the english translation, i cried even more. Our Page is a very beautiful song and Shinee sang it beautifully with so much emotion that it can really touch one's heart.
"Our Page" hits hard every time I hear it. But I think it's beautiful. I think it's the only and best way to celebrate the life of an incredible artist: through art. He loved music and surely would have liked to be remembered like that 💙
I still remember the day I found out about the news while I was on vacation. It took me very long to get over the shock. For some time just hearing his songs would make me cry, so I had to take a break from listening. I think SHINee being very open about them dealing with their grief and their plans moving forward really helped a lot. The whole fandom is very united on not remembering Jonghyun only in his moment of passing but for the life he led and the music he gifted to the world. He was truly an artist through and through. In case you didn't know, his posthumous solo album is titled "Poet | Artist", which fits perfectly with your favourite line from Our Page. I look forward to seeing you enjoy more of their releases in the future.
producers for 4 walls wrote that song as view part 2. the album concept photos for view also takes place in the same forest as 4 walls mv. the lyrics also connect the songs’ stories together - abt two ppl entering into a new, dream world together. good evening also has lyrics that suggest they’re meeting someone that’s gone, by travelling using their mental capacities. shinee/f(x) are like mirror images of eachother in the sm universe.
I came hear KNOWING I would cry. While Good Evening continues to be one of my favorite songs, I think this may be the third time I've ever listened to Our Page. It's beautiful, but it hurts and I can't make it through the first chorus without crying. Watching the SHINee series has been wonderful! Thank you so much for reacting to these legends.

our page mv makes me sad, but like you said the lyrics are hopeful and comforting so listening to the song itself personally brings me comfort. their tenth year anniversary was actually divided into three main parts; their album was called the story of light to reflect their journey past ten years before it with first ep & good evening as title track; good evening mv basically is about how the public sees them; the second part ep2 with title track "I want you", I want you mv is about how the members see themselves & the third part ep3 with our page basically reflection of their feelings & the mv like you saw. they have a fourth part which is the epilogue with the single called "countless" that was in a way a gift for fans before they started enlisting and as a hope for countless years together in future

So...I was wondering where I had heard the chorus for Good Evening before, and it wasn't until Cupid from 112 came on my fiance's slow R&B playlist and they got the melody from there. They sped it up and make it more dance/edm. Brilliant song-producing. But yeah, December 16th, 17th were bad days for me. I remember my anxiety was at an all-time high and didn't understand why. I was working and I just broke out in a huge anxiety attack at work out of the blue. It wasn't until shortly before midnight that I find out why when the news dropped of Jonghyun's passing. I thought it was a joke at first because Jonghyun was in a car accident in 2013 or 2014 and the same thing happened then. When it was confirmed it felt like the earth swallowed me at the moment. I finally understood why my body was on edge all of a sudden. I was introduced to this group after seeing the video for Lucifer in late 2011, and in 2012 when I saw Sherlock that video was what told me there was something truly special about this group and needed to know more about them. So all of 2012 was spent watching all the videos I could get My first comeback as a babywol was the Dream Girl comeback in 2013 and I watched anything that had to do with them from their Google Hangouts interview and everything. Jonghyun was a force to be reckoned with, my daughter loved him so much. I saw a lot of myself in him. If you told me to choose one member in SHINee I would always choose Jonghyun. I saw them in Chicago at their fan meet in 2016 and that's the only time I've seen them in person. It was one of the best nights of my life and the most perfect way to spend mother's day. SHINee deserves everything. They have been through so much and I know the decision wasn't easy to continue on without Jonghyun, he did so well and he will always be missed. I know SHINee incorporates him in everything they do. Even this last comeback there are nods to him and space made for him in the choreography. I've slowly been trying to catch up on everything and taking my time to process. I took a long hiatus away from Kpop to focus on myself and with this new comeback, I've started delving myself back into things, watching the solo projects and everything that I've missed. I even started writing again. If they can continue on, so can I. We never stop missing them, we just learn how to live in a new normal.

f(X) is SHINee's sister group!! Literally, a contemporary girl group who quite frankly, have never gotten the credit they deserve. As for SHINee, The Story of Light is genius. I know many people can't listen to it ♥♥, but nearly every song is a love song for our Moon Prince. I still haven't listened to all of Poet | Artist - I hope that someday I can. Thank you so much for reacting to SHINee. Please don't feel like a poseur or anything for crying - so many people new to SHINee cry with Our Page. I still cry, I think I always will - and that's okay. ETA: Shawol, it's worth watching SHINee's Back. There are a few sad moments, but really, it's wonderful and will reaffirm that SHINee isn't going anywhere.
In the past SM int create boy groups and then two or three years later debut the girl version, like SuJu and then snsd, or shinee and fx. Shinee and fx were and are really close with each other and they have a special relationship even more now when Jonghyun (shinee) and sully(fx) passed away, first Jonghyun y then sully, sully was a ex member that left fx in 2014-2015 (I don't remember the date) she was the maknae and left the group because a scandal (again toxic fans) but the members were in contact. Is really sad fx is now 😱 but shinee want to return, I hope we can support them

Even in the "Good evening", fox here (it has a certain meaning), when they are watching into the water well, there is his shadow and there are five trees above them. I can´t listen "Our page" without cry so it´s okay to cry. :) It´s less devastating than their live performance "From now on" when they were singing with him for the last time (his voice is recorded). So that´s it, he is still here, bringing us joy and good songs and memories. Now, Shinee is back from military service, Taemin is no longer lonely maknae and I am looking forward to their comeback. :-) If I would have a recommendation, look for some funny moments with them, they are really funny, especially in Weekly Idol. .-)

I watched our page once. Read the lyrics once. And never again. And I forgot that Minho said you did well at the end. I was literally crying my eyes out when our page started playing. It's been years and I still cry all the time whenever I see jonghyun or shinees music without jonghyun. As much as shinee means the world to me, I can't watch our page again. It just isn't possible for me. It's just too painful.
I know I am a little late to comment on this reaction - but still: I think it is impossible to get to know SHINee and not fall in love with all of them, including of course Jonghyun. And I also think there is absolutely no shame in shedding tears over what happened, to be emotional about this beautiful tribute SHINee created for him. He will always be a part of SHINee, SHINee will be Forever 5.

I appreciate that this a song that a lot of people want me to check out but as a note, if you want to make a suggestion, just make the suggestion. Criticising a playlist thoughtfully put together by someone is not the way to go. They can't put everything in a playlist and if they missed out something else, people would be making comments about them. I understand you probably didn't mean this in a negative way but just moving forward I would recommend thinking about the way you word things
Same for me. Actually is this didn't affect you I would worry about what kind of person you are. Our Page will always hit me the same way every time. I wondered if it would stop, but it never has. Jonghyun's song he wrote for Lee Hi--Breath is the same. I believe he felt things so much more deeply

This is my first time hearing "Good Evening" and I was trying to figure out where I heard the melody before in their verses and then I realized they sampled R&B group 112's song, "Cupid." Really good song(both of them).
wow, this is actually the first time i've listen to our page with lyrics because i was kinda scared i'd cry my eyes out. i've listened to it when it was released and with my very little korean skills, the only line that i understood 100% was onew's "you did well" near the end.. i didn't know i would cry harder now than i did when i watched them perform this on music shows

You're actually missing a video between Good Evening and Our Page, called "I Want You". They're considered a trilogy, with each single representing a "chapter" in a 3 parts album releases that are all connected. This was for their 10 years anniversary, but also in a way their official final (Korean) tribute to Jonghyun as well as one their last gift to Shawol before Shinee would soon go on hiatus; it wasn't yet mentioned/confirmed at the time but I think some fans (including myself) could already see it coming. Their final Korean comeback was with the single/mv "Countless", released with the repackaged album combining all 3 parts and representing its epilogue, and symbolically (at least to me) the start of a new beginning. Onew, Key and Minho would soon enlist for their military services afterwards.
You're absolutely right. TSOL was already in the plans before Dec'17 but they reworked it afterwards as a farewell for Jjong and a keepsake for Shawols. Like you their japan2018 concert and then the songs from TSOL all sounded like a goodbye. I remember scouring the updates for reassurance that their military hiatus wouldn't be a permanent situation. they all had promising solo careers so I was really grateful that taemin kept telling us that SuperM wasn't the end of Shinee.
Yeah, Our Page will hit you like a truck in the emotions. Until a few months ago, I had never watched it through without bawling my eyes out (even worse if I read the lyrics).

To understand SHINee's "Good Evening" MV what you need to know is that it had only been about 6 months when this MV came out since Jonghyun died, and this song and MV is all about how SHINee and Shawols have been grieving and are finally ready to begin to heal and come out of the darkness into the light. The album is called The Story of Light and it's all about finding the light out of the darkness, etc. It's about how the members are learning to continue on without Jonghyun and find happiness and light in a situation that will forever be difficult. May 25, 2018, when this MV was released, was SHINee's 10th anniversary so this was also important because it was a comeback to commemorate their 10 years as a group.
The choreography for "Good Evening" is very deliberate. The reason the choreography is like that is because it depicts them going through the grieving process and it tells the story of all the emotions they went through and how, now at the end, they have made the choice to continue on as a group and keep on running, etc. The dance is all choreographed, but SHINee are just so good that they make it look like its freestyle. :D The choreography is really complex and beautiful and really fits the song well. It becomes clearer once you see it in its entirety and start to understand the story behind it all. You really should check out SHINee's dance practice video for "Good Evening" to see the full choreography.
Fun fact: the choreographer for SHINee's "Good Evening" was the choreographer who was featured in Taemin's "Move" MV, as well as several of Taemin's other songs. She is a famous Japanese choreographer who has known Taemin for years, so it was really special she was able to work on this project because she got to be a part of SHINee's healing process.
In the MV, not only is the extra shadow that appears when they look into the tunnel/well at the end speculated to be Jonghyun's shadow, but the fox is thought to also represent him. Onew intensely stares into the eyes of the fox, almost as if he is communicating with the fox through his thoughts, and, to me, it's as if he is sharing a moment with Jonghyun. There is a fox in the story "The Little Prince" and "The Little Prince' was one of Jonghyun's favorite stories. The image of the man behind them is the author of the book "The Little Prince." Plus, a fox often represents the afterlife and the spirit of someone who has passed on reincarnated in many cultures. Also in the beginning you may notice an empty chair. An empty chair is often used to represent the spirit of someone who has passed on as well.
But that's just a small portion of the hidden messages within this MV. If you really delve in deep you will discover that the whole MV can be connected to SHINee forever being 5 members and them including Jonghyun in all that they do. There are 5 trees at the end which could represent the fact that, as Onew has said, even though you may only see 4 members on stage, SHINee will forever be a group of 5.
They are in a room full of cameras and their images are being projected on the TV screens, which I see as representing the fact that because SHINee is living in the public eye they can never escape from always being watched by the public. Which doesn't allow them the private space to really grieve and to express themselves privately and they are always being judged (both the members in their grieving process and what Jonghyun had to go through and what ultimately led him to feeling the way he did, etc.)
This MV used a lot of green and aqua blue light to depict the cool and somber feel of the story, but it also was used because, as I think you know, aqua blue/green is SHINee's fan color, and it was used to represent Jonghyun's presence all around them and the support and solidarity they felt with their fans, Shawols.
The story in the MV is showing the 5 stages of grief (denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance) the members went through and how they have now at the end of the MV started to find their way out of it and have made the choice to continue to keep on running and continue on as a group, etc.. But I could go on and on ... every part of this MV has a deeper message and meaning, you just have to open yourself up to the fact that everything in this MV has multiple meanings and purposes.
You see Minho with those oranges, which is really just a giant pile of orange peels, because this part is supposed to depict how he is blindly just going through life, not even able to process what is happening around him. He is not even looking at the peels. It is like his body and mind is on autopilot.
If you notice none of the members ever make eye contact with the camera the entire MV and even in their live performances of the song, you will never see them look at the camera. This was done deliberately as well because they wanted to show how in their grief they were blind to everything that was going on around them and they were closed off to the world and didn't care what was happening outside of themselves even though the world was watching their every move.
The part where Key smashes the piano is only one example of how SHINee shows how they felt for a while after Jonghyun died -- they were angry at everything, including music, and in a way they were blaming "music" and their careers for what happened and in the MV they were taking their anger out on the piano, etc. The plastic sheet and them flailing under water is supposed to represent how they felt suffocated in their grief and how grieving while in the public eye made them feel trapped at times, etc. Every scene, every image, every movement in their dance, every look, every moment they stand still or look blankly, etc. is very deliberate and is there for a reason.
This comeback is part of a three part release celebrating SHINee's 10th anniversary. So they released 3 mini albums with 5 songs each in their The Story of Light trilogy and they had 3 comebacks each 2 weeks apart to showcase their lead track on each of their albums. "Good Evening" and "All Day All Night" were their comeback tracks from Episode 1, " I Want You" and "Who Waits for Love" were their comebacks from Episode 2 and Episode 3 was "Our Page" and "Tonight". Their comeback lasted 6 weeks to represent the fact that it was SHINee's 6th "full length" album. We were so spoiled this comeback; it felt so nice to see them doing what they love again. At the end of the six weeks they released a special final MV to celebrate their anniversary and all they have been through over the past 10 years with their song "Countless." "Countless" was an epilogue track that was added to their repackaged Story of Light album.
Before this comeback SHINee had just come off their SHINee World Concert V (SWC5) world tour and the members were doing solo activities as they worked on what was going to be an epic 10th anniversary comeback.With Jonghyun's passing, that set them back a few months because they were grieving. It also took time to figure out how they were supposed to function without Jonghyun. But you also should know that, actually, SHINee never really stopped working. Two months after Jonghyun died SHINee held their SHINee World -- The Best from Now On Concert in Japan and they pretty much were working nonstop since then until their enlistment. That concert had originally been planned as part of their 10th anniversary celebration and it had already been sold out. So SHINee felt obligated to honor their fans and continue the concert despite everything, which meant some extra work, because they already had been planning everything with Jonghyun. So they had to quickly go back to the drawing board and figure out how to do it with only 4 members and still honor Jonghyun's memory.
In SHINee's fan meeting/concert for their 10th anniversary the members all vowed that SHINee will always be 5 and that Jonghyun will always be involved in everything they do. And during the concert when they performed the choreo for some of their most iconic songs they intentionally left Jonghyun's spot open and only filled in for him when something just wouldn't work without someone in that position. I think we are always going to have reminders of him in all that SHINee does from now on, and that is the way it should be. He was loved and will never be forgotten, and when possible, should always be involved in things that have to do with SHINee. OT5 forever and ever.
I think we can feel Jonghyun's presence and influence in this album and songs because a lot of what made SHINee's sound uniquely SHINee (and this album is no exception) was because of Jonghyun. He not only shaped SHINee's sound because he was the main vocal of the group, but he also wrote and composed around 40% of SHINee's songs, so he can be felt in everything they do. It wouldn't be SHINee if we didn't hear his influence shine through in their music, that is what makes SHINee's sound so unlike any other.
I think from now on we will always be searching for the hidden messages and moments that represent Jonghyun in everything SHINee does.

Wow, I’ve never actually watched the MV with lyrics, it somehow made me cry even harder.
It makes me so emotional that they still included Jonghyun even though he’s physically not here anymore in all the MVs. Almost all Shawols believe that the fox in Good Evening and I Want You is Jonghyun because his favorite story was “the little prince”. And then if you look closely on the shadows in the well at the end of Good Evening, you can actually see a fifth person, representing him. And then in Our Page, you have the mic stand to show that he will always still be apart of Shinee as well as many references within the lyrics. Even if he isn’t physically here, he still remains in our hearts and is looking over the guys from above.
I, as well as many others, interpret the 3 songs as representing the 5 stages of grief, with Good Evening being Anger and Denial, I Want You being the bargaining stage, and then Our Page being Depression and Acceptance.

after midnight, jonghyun hosted a radio where he listened to a lot of people’s stories (even composed songs for them), & comforted a lot of people with his words. he also wanted to be a writer, and he wrote a book too. his tattoo read “poet | artist”. language, stories and words mean a lot to him. that’s why all their references to words, story & poem in the song mean so much more.

I loved what you said about 'our page' being hopeful and light. Their 10th anniversary album was called 'The Story of Light' and I think the idea was show Shinee finding light out of the drakness of their grief and also help fans deal with their grief.

He really did. I absolutely cannot watch this MV without crying my eyes out (the whole Story of Light, really), but I feel like, at this point, my tears aren't from sadness anymore. At this point I can celebrate Jognhyun's life with true joy again, and watching Our Page makes me SO PROUD of Shinee! They kept it going, they're together. Taemin has been performing alone for two years when the others members were in military service and when Minho got out he just said the cutest happiest "Shinee's back". My boys... really...
I am glad you were able to read the lyrics while watching SHINee's "Our Page". I feel like out of all kpop songs in existence this is one of the most important songs to know what the lyrics are about. Every word of the song was wrote by the members and it is all about Jonghyun.The lyrics make reference to things that Jonghyun said to them in the letter he left them when he died. Every word is talking about their relationship as a group and their relationship with Jonghyun.The song and lyrics are a tribute to him and the more than 10 years the members spent together as a group.
In the MV the members are just trying to go about their everyday lives in a world that no longer makes sense to them. It is showing them grieving Jonghyun's death.
This song is very powerful and full of meaning. The message each of them sings about is very personal to them, it's about their journey as a group and how much impact Jonghyun had in their life. And, as the members have said, it's about all the things they wish they could have told Jonghyun, etc.
"Our Page" is epic because it should be epic. It was the song that made Shawols feel like it was finally OK to start to get back to a little bit of normal again. It was a moment of collective catharsis for everyone within the fandom and it showed us that the members were finally ready to get back to what they loved and they were more dedicated then ever to continue on as a group. I feel like people miss so much of the meaning and story in the MV if you don't know what the lyrics are about.
Don't worry, you're not supposed to hold your emotions in during this song. The whole point of the song was to allow us all to grieve and to find closure, etc. It's OK to cry, it's meant to be emotional.
In the MV, in the beginning you see each of the members struggling just to carry on with everyday life. But because they have no other choice, they all decide that the only way to honor Jonghyun's memory is to continue on. So you see Onew get back to composing songs (Jonghyun was the songwriter of the group so, this scene also is supposed to invoke memories of him as well), Taemin goes back to the gym (Jonghyun also spent a lot of time in the gym, so this was also Taemin's way of connecting with Jonghyun.) Minho is one of the top actors in Korea and when Jonghyun died he was on set filming for a drama, so we see Minho trying to get back to his normal routine and back to filming. And Key is one of the members, besides Taemin, who is known for his dancing, so you see him getting back to the dance studio and practicing the choreography for his solo debut album.
Fun fact: We didn't know that what we saw in this MV was a secret reveal of Key's choreography for his solo releases, but since then, now that Key's solo album and MVs have come out, we realize that this was the choreography for one of his solo songs.
The background beat of the song is supposed to represent the heartbeat of the group, the heartbeat of the fans, everything that kept the members moving forward and what brings them together as a group, etc. Every part of this song was done very purposefully and deliberately.
Yet again, the green/aqua blue light you see all around them is SHINee's fan color, and it represents how Jonghyun is always all around them and how he is calling them back to the stage. The light washes over the members representing how the fans' love, support and solidarity within the fandom gives the members the strength to carry on and to continue as a group.
At one point you see each of the members standing still in a room while the world around them continues on. This represents how their world came to a standstill when Jonghyun died and how for a while it felt like their world stopped while everyone else continued living their lives.
As they climb the stairs to the stage you see the lights come on one by one, I like to think that was each of the fans sending their support to encourage them to keep moving forward. And then once on stage you see the members all standing on stage with the one empty mic stand in the center that represents Jonghyun.
Fun fact: Just like SHINee's "1 Of 1" MV was 5:25 long because it was supposed to represent how SHINee debuted 5/25/08, "Our Page" was 5:10 long because it was a reference to the fact that SHINee will forever be a group of 5 and this album is celebrating their 10th anniversary.
So, this album, The Story of Light, is all about Jonghyun and every song has something to do with what they went through in the 6 months leading up to this album release, etc. "Good Evening" is about SHINee's grieving process and the way the public sees them. "I want you" Is about learning to find happiness again and how they are personally dealing with everything that happened and "Our Page" is the members telling their story and what they want the world to know about them as a group and what they will remember and miss the most about Jonghyun, etc. And "Countless" is showing how SHINee has now come out on the other side and is now ready to start to move on.
I literally cannot listen to Our Page and have the lyrics in front of me at the same time otherwise, I will start crying. Every. Single. Time. I don't know how they did it, but they made a song that is heart-wrenching and uplifting at the same time, and I think it is absolutely gorgeous
If you watch a live performance of “Our Page” near the end you can hear Onew say “소 고했어 “ which means you did well and he looks up into the sky and smiles.

F(x) '4 walls' and SHINee's 'View' are sister songs... Initially these were written for the opposite groups by the producer( and both songs r similar in music, I mean u can mash them up and never know which song is which part), later on SHINee took view for their 'odd' album and f(x) recorded '4 walls' - as per what people have said there is actually a demo SHINee version of '4 walls' since they had already recorded a demo version before going with 'view'... Maybe 'Good evening' reminds you of 'cupid' ? Because they sampled it a little bit with credits here...
I've been shawol for a year and a half. I felt ridiculous feeling so heartbroken over his passing. But then I let it happen. I let myself grieve for someone I never knew and who had passed before I knew his name. And now, on this side of that, my appreciation for life and his talent and kindness and humor...it's gone beyond what I could imagine.
You have a shawol heart. It never gets easier, but it does get better.
Jonghyun will always be loved and missed. But his voice lives in us forever.

i`ve been crying Jonghyun since 2017 and probably wont stop in a long time.
The beautiful and heart-breaking thing about the Our Page music video was that each of the guys portrayed all the things that Jonghyun also loved. Onew was in front of the computer and composing music. Taemin was exercising. Key was dancing. Minho was being the celebrity. All of them were facets of Jonghyun's life that enjoyed and happily shared with everyone he loved, and yet those exact same facets made the SHINee guys just as melancholic over him not being there anymore.
this was a really good video. I've loved your SHINee series and this is no exception. your thoughts at the end were wonderful. as someone else who became a fan more recently, I can relate to the not feeling like you should cry, but as fans (and as people) I think it's important to remember that comparing your pain to others' isn't helpful to anyone and our feelings are valid as they are. it's ok to be sad about a sad thing.
I'm really glad there's a video of Our Page with the lyrics, too, it's such a bummer that the official video doesn't have captions. I'm very selfishly glad SHINee is still together and preparing to put out new music for us, and I know that Jonghyun will always be with them. no one could ever forget such a wonderful person and such an amazing artist.

The first time i heard Our Page, i cried even though i didn't understand the lyrics. But still, i somehow felt the pain, the longing and the deep love the members are feeling while singing this song. When I saw the english translation, i cried even more. Our Page is a very beautiful song and Shinee sang it beautifully with so much emotion that it can really touch one's heart.
"Our Page" hits hard every time I hear it. But I think it's beautiful.

I still remember the day I found out about the news while I was on vacation. It took me very long to get over the shock. For some time just hearing his songs would make me cry, so I had to take a break from listening. I think SHINee being very open about them dealing with their grief and their plans moving forward really helped a lot. The whole fandom is very united on not remembering Jonghyun only in his moment of passing but for the life he led and the music he gifted to the world. He was truly an artist through and through.
In case you didn't know, his posthumous solo album is titled "Poet | Artist", which fits perfectly with your favourite line from Our Page. I look forward to seeing you enjoy more of their releases in the future.
producers for 4 walls wrote that song as view part 2. the album concept photos for view also takes place in the same forest as 4 walls mv. the lyrics also connect the songs’ stories together - abt two ppl entering into a new, dream world together. good evening also has lyrics that suggest they’re meeting someone that’s gone, by travelling using their mental capacities.

their tenth year anniversary was actually divided into three main parts; their album was called the story of light to reflect their journey past ten years before it with first ep & good evening as title track; good evening mv basically is about how the public sees them; the second part ep2 with title track "I want you", I want you mv is about how the members see themselves & the third part ep3 with our page basically reflection of their feelings & the mv like you saw. they have a fourth part which is the epilogue with the single called "countless" that was in a way a gift for fans before they started enlisting and as a hope for countless years together in future
I never had the heart to finish watching our page let alone read what the song meant so for you to post this gave me the courage to finally watch it. It made me feel less alone and sad when I watched it with you. Thank you.
So...I was wondering where I had heard the chorus for Good Evening before, and it wasn't until Cupid from 112 came on my fiance's slow R&B playlist and they got the melody from there. They sped it up and make it more dance/edm. Brilliant song-producing.
But yeah, December 16th, 17th were bad days for me. I remember my anxiety was at an all-time high and didn't understand why. I was working and I just broke out in a huge anxiety attack at work out of the blue. It wasn't until shortly before midnight that I find out why when the news dropped of Jonghyun's passing. I thought it was a joke at first because Jonghyun was in a car accident in 2013 or 2014 and the same thing happened then. When it was confirmed it felt like the earth swallowed me at the moment. I finally understood why my body was on edge all of a sudden.
I was introduced to this group after seeing the video for Lucifer in late 2011, and in 2012 when I saw Sherlock that video was what told me there was something truly special about this group and needed to know more about them. So all of 2012 was spent watching all the videos I could get My first comeback as a babywol was the Dream Girl comeback in 2013 and I watched anything that had to do with them from their Google Hangouts interview and everything.
Jonghyun was a force to be reckoned with, my daughter loved him so much. I saw a lot of myself in him. If you told me to choose one member in SHINee I would always choose Jonghyun. I saw them in Chicago at their fan meet in 2016 and that's the only time I've seen them in person. It was one of the best nights of my life and the most perfect way to spend mother's day. SHINee deserves everything. They have been through so much and I know the decision wasn't easy to continue on without Jonghyun, he did so well and he will always be missed. I know SHINee incorporates him in everything they do. Even this last comeback there are nods to him and space made for him in the choreography.
I've slowly been trying to catch up on everything and taking my time to process. I took a long hiatus away from Kpop to focus on myself and with this new comeback, I've started delving myself back into things, watching the solo projects and everything that I've missed. I even started writing again. If they can continue on, so can I. We never stop missing them, we just learn how to live in a new normal.

f(X) is SHINee's sister group!! Literally, a contemporary girl group who quite frankly, have never gotten the credit they deserve. As for SHINee, The Story of Light is genius. I know many people can't listen to it ♥♥, but nearly every song is a love song for our Moon Prince. I still haven't listened to all of Poet | Artist - I hope that someday I can. Thank you so much for reacting to SHINee. Please don't feel like a poseur or anything for crying - so many people new to SHINee cry with Our Page. I still cry, I think I always will - and that's okay. ETA: Shawol, it's worth watching SHINee's Back. There are a few sad moments, but really, it's wonderful and will reaffirm that SHINee isn't going anywhere.
In the past SM int create boy groups and then two or three years later debut the girl version, like SuJu and then snsd, or shinee and fx. Shinee and fx were and are really close with each other and they have a special relationship even more now when Jonghyun (shinee) and sully(fx) passed away, first Jonghyun y then sully, sully was a ex member that left fx in 2014-2015 (I don't remember the date) she was the maknae and left the group because a scandal (again toxic fans) but the members were in contact. Is really sad fx is now 😱 but shinee want to return, I hope we can support them
Thank you for this reaction. Jonghyun is always with us. Even in the "Good evening", fox here (it has a certain meaning), when they are watching into the water well, there is his shadow and there are five trees above them. I can´t listen "Our page" without cry so it´s okay to cry. :) It´s less devastating than their live performance "From now on" when they were singing with him for the last time (his voice is recorded). So that´s it, he is still here, bringing us joy and good songs and memories. Now, Shinee is back from military service, Taemin is no longer lonely maknae and I am looking forward to their comeback. :-) If I would have a recommendation, look for some funny moments with them, they are really funny, especially in Weekly Idol. .-)

I watched our page once. Read the lyrics once. And never again. And I forgot that Minho said you did well at the end. I was literally crying my eyes out when our page started playing. It's been years and I still cry all the time whenever I see jonghyun or shinees music without jonghyun. As much as shinee means the world to me, I can't watch our page again. It just isn't possible for me. It's just too painful.
I know I am a little late to comment on this reaction - but still: I think it is impossible to get to know SHINee and not fall in love with all of them, including of course Jonghyun. And I also think there is absolutely no shame in shedding tears over what happened, to be emotional about this beautiful tribute SHINee created for him. He will always be a part of SHINee, SHINee will be Forever 5.

I appreciate that this a song that a lot of people want me to check out but as a note, if you want to make a suggestion, just make the suggestion. Criticising a playlist thoughtfully put together by someone is not the way to go. They can't put everything in a playlist and if they missed out something else, people would be making comments about them. I understand you probably didn't mean this in a negative way but just moving forward I would recommend thinking about the way you word things

Same for me. Actually is this didn't affect you I would worry about what kind of person you are. Our Page will always hit me the same way every time. I wondered if it would stop, but it never has. Jonghyun's song he wrote for Lee Hi--Breath is the same. I believe he felt things so much more deeply

I hope you check out stages for Good Evening, it has the most unique choreography imo. Also, the Good Evening MV is one of two MV's that I consider high art (LOONA - Butterfly)

This is my first time hearing "Good Evening" and I was trying to figure out where I heard the melody before in their verses and then I realized they sampled R&B group 112's song, "Cupid." Really good song(both of them).
The lyrics for Good Evening are also for Jonghyun, they are also devastatingly sad.

wow, this is actually the first time i've listen to our page with lyrics because i was kinda scared i'd cry my eyes out. i've listened to it when it was released and with my very little korean skills, the only line that i understood 100% was onew's "you did well" near the end.. i didn't know i would cry harder now than i did when i watched them perform this on music shows
You should watch colors of the season live and diamond sky live their live performance during shinee from now on 2018 was their first concert after jonghyun's passing you should react to live videos of the concert

You're actually missing a video between Good Evening and Our Page, called "I Want You". They're considered a trilogy, with each single representing a "chapter" in a 3 parts album releases that are all connected. This was for their 10 years anniversary, but also in a way their official final (Korean) tribute to Jonghyun as well as one their last gift to Shawol before Shinee would soon go on hiatus; it wasn't yet mentioned/confirmed at the time but I think some fans (including myself) could already see it coming.
Their final Korean comeback was with the single/mv "Countless", released with the repackaged album combining all 3 parts and representing its epilogue, and symbolically (at least to me) the start of a new beginning. Onew, Key and Minho would soon enlist for their military services afterwards.
You're absolutely right. TSOL was already in the plans before Dec'17 but they reworked it afterwards as a farewell for Jjong and a keepsake for Shawols.
Like you their japan2018 concert and then the songs from TSOL all sounded like a goodbye. I remember scouring the updates for reassurance that their military hiatus wouldn't be a permanent situation.
they all had promising solo careers so I was really grateful that taemin kept telling us that SuperM wasn't the end of Shinee.
