I’ve always been amazed at how ABBA were able to make these incredibly catchy pop masterpieces sound so simple, yet in reality they were actually quite technically complicated. It’s a testament to the brilliance of Benny and Bjorn and the team that they surrounded themselves with in the studio which resulted in perfect pop records. Hail ABBA!!
Frida have a warm voice more soulful, but agree that Agnetha had this veryy bright poppy type of soprano voice, with the two girls in harmony a match made in heaven!
If you think Agnetha has a stronger voice, checkout The Midnight Special program from '76 where ABBA sing live (something very rare for them). Listen to 'Fernando' and 'Mamma Mia' and I think you'll change your mind.
They dared that fab accapella intro long before Pentatonix and Home Free. For me, technically both girls are equally gifted singers.Frida was a mezzo soprano with a warmer velvet voice of high quality that gave me the feeling that tasted like cinammon blended with wild honey.Agnetha was a bright angelic punchy soprano. Her voice taste to me like vanilla ice cream with jasmin syrup.Frida was more confident live. She loved performing on stage.Aggy liked better the studio.Of course everyone has preferences lol! That's human and rightful.Though in general i could never imagine Agnetha without Frida and Frida without Agnetha.Take these 2 and you have the perfect multi coloured vocal blend my ears have ever heard. They were born to sing together.
I agree with you. This debate on who has the better voice is a bit pointless. They both have a great distinctive voice in their own style and capability as you described so well and Benny and Björn were very fortunate to have such great artists to grace their compositions (and so were we!).
SOS that Ty kinda prefers is a dynamic pop/rock ballad. This one is a melodious disco-y pop song.Despite their pop base ABBA's variety is surprising and impressive.
Video is iconic. As some other reactor stated it just took these "4 people and 2 chairs". And of course that ABBA's groovy pop bomb.Nothing more needed for the magic. And as a fellow fan once commented, Abba "made complicated look simple".I couldn't agree more!Abba's charm and friendly ability was such a seductive force you end up being trapped in a loving addiction! This top 3 hot Billboard hit single sold more copies in the USA than their N01 "Dancing Queen" at the time.It was also presented live in that famous American Olivia Newton John tv show in May 1978 where they did it together with Olivia and Andy Gibb.I liked that you liked it!It makes you feel the need to get up and dance.(The accapella intro was also fab).UK was No1 right after their previous No1 "The Name of the Game".Both songs were from "THE ALBUM" Also a No1 album for 7 weeks and 3rd best seller album of 1978 right after BEE GEES 'Saturday night fever'and 'Grease' soundtracks. Now that was a great year in music! WATERLOO/GIMME!GIMME!GIMME! next ones plz.Thanx for the reaction it was refreshing and made my day.

Her signature songs are probably I Sould Be So Lucky, Better The Devil You Know, Confide In Me, Where The Wild Roses Grow, Spinning Around, Can't Get You Out Of My Head, Slow, All The Lovers, Dancing and Say Something. All of the above are listed in chronological order if you want to hear how she evolved musically.
A superbly bouncy number with a subtly sexy undertone which never ever gets close to crossing into sexual. The "blonde chick" has a very strong voice in this song, but please listen to "Dum Dum Diddle" live version or "When All Is Said and Done" to hear and appreciate the "dark chick's" voice. Anyway, chaps, nice reaction again and now onto part 2!

How corny and cheesy their music videos might seem, they understood how big the whole visual part of the music industry would become. No one was doing music videos in the 70's, not really. This band helped pioneer a lot of stuff during their ten very active years. I'm liking the Abba reactions guys, i subbed :) cheers from Sweden. ✌🏻

I am always surprised to watch video clips from the seventies. Where people use to watch these videos ... I don't think on tv or maybe yes. I am curious.
Hi Stella. They weren't even called video clips at the times, but promo music films.Abba did it mostly and gave this promo policy a big boost.Usually artists travelled from country to country to promote their work through tv shows and radio. But Abba were massive and didn't travel/tour that much. They also couldn't attend every single tv show due to huuuge demand. So they started filming these promos to ease a bit the public's hunger. When early '80s arrived with MTV,Abba had already silently disbanded. Then the likes of DURAN DURAN progressed music videos to real art as well as acts like M.Jackson and provided some very expensive productions..And history goes on.
