You are a great mentor and aside from cyber security you would stand your ground in any field. Your mindset is a great motivator and a key piece for anyone who wants to excel in anything. Cheers,
I would actually like to transfer into a more managerial postion . I love the technical stuff, but leading people and finding solutions is just my thing. I understand that I must climb the ranks and put my work in. I plan on getting employed into the field soon, thanks for the insight man, you have been a huge help in starting my career. i have learned more in the last 2 months than i have in the last 6.
Hey Jon, I totally understand and if you have a knack for management then you’ll do well, there is a ‘serious’ shortage of GOOD managers who also have technical knowledge :)
Its so overwhelming hearing it'll take 10+ years to be an expert at something when you're early 20s, I know throughout that time things will find its ways to expand and allow you to really see what is it is that'll you end up being passionate about but from someone who has been interested in this field for 5 years and is now just financially able to take steps into this field. I just hope since I am 25, by the time I hit my 30s I hope there's developments with AI to make things more easier for us to catch up to those experts that already currently have 10+ years experience.
you are overthinking things! You can get very good in a year or two, but a being a world-class expert takes time. Mastery of anything takes time my friend. My next video is about the effects of AI on cyber security, stay tuned!

Completely agreed 👍🏻 skills are required in this domain! We call it “BrainBasedIndustry” While doing CCNA our mentors used to tell us that this is a brain based industry!
This is the same reason I am not willing to jump from a program management job into a cyber security role. I really want to get some cyber security certifications and try to move into that field. But I already have a low six figure salary in my current role in a different industry and my bachelor's and master's degrees are both in business and have nothing to do with IT or security. Granted, i really don't like what I do and would like to make a change. But I am in a single income household and have a family to support so i can't afford to take a 40k+ pay cut to go into an entry level job in the cyber security industry. As much as I'd like to make the change I'm stuck.

The message in this video is pretty much what will get you a promotion. Think about it, if you focus on nurturing and growing your skills, and being a world class associate analyst, the promotion will come. Be great at what you do and money/promotions will follow
I am super passionate about the technical aspects of cyber but my dream is to get into a management position! I am currently working on a bachelors degree in IT & Cybersecurity and am considering getting an MBA after that. I am also looking at internships and certifications. Would you recommend getting an MBA after a technical bachelors for someone who is wanting more of a communication/management based career in cyber (obviously still with a lot of technical involvement)??
Hi Shydra, MBA is a controversial topic, I went to business school (really highly rated one) but I can’t say I learned much to be honest. It can help but it’s really expensive and I dont think the return on investment is there. Some people use it to pivot to consulting. Your best bet is to try and move to a team lead role as soon as possible and gain experience. Experience trumps degrees any day in this field
hi Thiam, the title ‘security analyst’ can mean many things, it can be risk/GRC focused or technical focused. Also each bank is different, there is no standard ‘pathway’ but generally speakinf a security analyst can progress to become a senior analyst. Most analyst choose to remain technical so they become principal analyst for example or a tech lead, others choose to move to management/people leadership roles. Here’s an older video I made about the ‘technical analyst roles’: ruclips.net/video/HohIYcNd_VM/видео.html
Hi, I went through every video you uploaded, and it is really helping me by giving insight of Cyber Security mean. I'm 18 years old, Fresher in a University pursuing Cyber Security degree as I am very passionate about this role. So, can you recommend what should I do in my Four year Degree Program other than what Faculty is teaching me now and also when is the right time for me to do Certifications? It will be very helpful if you can respond. Thank You.
Hey Uday, glad you’re enjoying the videos my friend! It really depends on how demanding and challenging your degree is, if it’s challenging then I recommend you focus on that. You can pick a topic on the side and focus on it, that can be Penetration testing for example or it can be coding (like learning Python), it can be anything. You can go deep in a topic and get really good at it using free material/tutorials online. You can get certs later or in your final year, there is no rush really. Focus on gaining skills now as a opposed to certs

I've even made a checklist of certs to get when to update my cv and when to start applying. Just out of curiosity.. is there a website that you recommend for job postings? hey mate, good job on creating a checklist! thats what I do and I have hang the list in my bedroom to look at it everyday! Linkedin is a good one, but each country will have a popular website. For example, in australia we have a site called seek, in the US there is a site called dice and monsterjobs, so it depends where u live but LinkedIn is universal and works in every country!
I currently work remotely as a software developer, I’ve been a developer for around 2 years now. I enjoy it a lot but I have always liked CS. I would really like to make the career switch and have been doing cyber security boot camps in my free time. Do you know anyone who switched from dev to a CS role without starting so low level ?
Hey Alanah, yes I know a number of people who made the switch! Software developer is a perfect background for cyber security! You can easily pivot to something like AppSec (I talked about it here: ruclips.net/video/-oGxe4CW_Z8/видео.html ) or even Penetration tester: ruclips.net/video/OR8G_Vi5B1U/видео.html Either way, you don’t need a bootcamp, you just do certs, this is a general roadmap to help you make the switch FAST: ruclips.net/video/ug_ruisDUXc/видео.html

I would actually like to transfer into a more managerial postion . I love the technical stuff, but leading people and finding solutions is just my thing.

This is the same reason I am not willing to jump from a program management job into a cyber security role. I really want to get some cyber security certifications and try to move into that field.
Hi Shydra,
MBA is a controversial topic, I went to business school (really highly rated one) but I can’t say I learned much to be honest. It can help but it’s really expensive and I dont think the return on investment is there. Some people use it to pivot to consulting.
Your best bet is to try and move to a team lead role as soon as possible and gain experience. Experience trumps degrees any day in this field

Hi love your channel ❤ What is the progress path as a cyber security analyst in a bank ? Thank you.
hi Thiam, the title ‘security analyst’ can mean many things, it can be risk/GRC focused or technical focused. Also each bank is different, there is no standard ‘pathway’ but generally speakinf a security analyst can progress to become a senior analyst. Most analyst choose to remain technical so they become principal analyst for example or a tech lead, others choose to move to management/people leadership roles.
Here’s an older video I made about the ‘technical analyst roles’:
