I think a gradient filter should help quite a bit. Dji could get the d-cinelike a lot flatter as we which in turn would stop the camera from crushing the shadows so badly.
..and honestly running that through Topaz Video AI would likely make it more than good enough instead of mounting an additional camera, though that has its benefits of course.
Thank you for this awesome video! Final sequence looked amazing! The Avata camera was at least 2 stops underexposed at the 6:50 mark. Not sure if you had the settings the same on both cameras, or perhaps auto ISO was turned on for one camera but not the other, but details aren't going to be there if shot is underexposed by such a large margin. Avata camera looks great in DCine with the proper exposure. Very nice video!
Did you use D-Cinelike on the avata record mode? With D-Cinelike you would see the details in the shadows, but it needs some color correction in the post.
Hi @Man From Earth, have you tried to use D-Cinelike mode for this video? In December update, they added support for 10-bit color , so I wonder if, after post-color-correction with 10-bit mode, the difference from GoPro footage will become much smaller?
Yeah any camera I have I shoot in 4:3 or open gate it's the full sensor readout for most cameras. Not to mention flexible as hell for aspect ratios.@@bkjeep
I find the Avata's camera to be excellent if the correct settings for the exposure is dialled in. The D-Cinelike settings is even better. In your video, the Avata's video is poorly exposed by at least 1-1 1/2 stops hence the lack of shadow details. You can tell this from the brightness of the rattan on the right of the rope bridge scene being different between the two cameras. But I guess if someone doesnt really know much about photography, then the GoPro is the go-to camera because its just that easy to get it right.
First of all, did you allow auto exposure on the Avata? If you did, it wasn't picking up the big change in ambient light as you entered the net bridge. It looks like it was set on a fixed exposure. The issue with doing single takes is if u fix an exposure for the sunlit areas, then the shadows will come out poorly exposed. You can either allow it to auto expose or you can add your own lighting in those areas. Examples could be large reflectors that bounces in sunlight of the same colour temperature. Generally i find the auto works quite well allowing for the ISO to move from 100-800. You are already staging the story of the flight so you need to consider each section of the stage. The other thing is it also looks like it was shot with the normal curve settings of the Avata. Shoot in cine-link with a flat profile so you can fine tune highlights, mids and shadows in post using the NLE.@@amando96
But you will get so big crop if you use gyroflow for that. DJI Avata can’t shoot video with 4x3 ratio in 4K. You can check in this video how many details you will get with vertical camera mount…
@man.fromearth that was awesome, appreciate you putting all this together for the rest of us. I’m interested in TPU mounts (horizontal and vertical) and chance you can share those files? Also do you recommend voltage regulator for Bones or straight to Avata 4S?
I just got the 11 Black but from what I keep seeing the sharpness from the larger sensor on the Avata looks better than the GoPro but the color on the GoPro is better. Also, just take the 11 black apart and go naked.
Excellent comparison! I placed a GoPro naked 11 on top of my drone.. However, I'm experiencing tremors in the image with the camera mounted on the drone. I noticed that it doesn't happen with yours. Do you know what could be causing this?
amazing video. did you buy the avatar as a bundle or individual drone, googles and then controller? The current DJI Website doesn't allow me to buy the drone with the remote
Great video ! I wanted to know, what is the drone you use for long range as you mentioned it in some of your videos ? Because I’m quite disappointed with the autonomy of the drone I built.
Hi there ❤ to anyone who own Avata , I would like to ask does it come with “FOLLOW ME” mode ? I currently have mini 2 and I can have my drone to “FOLLOW ME” shooting video of myself when I’m running or doing my own thing without hands on holding the controller. Since Avata is FPV require goggle to control Everytime. Are there any way to turn on “FOLLOW ME” mode so I can also shooting video of myself WITHOUT goggle on ? Thx for all helping ❤❤❤❤
The image from Avata reminds me Mavic 1 a bit, quite dissapointing as Mavic 1 was released 6 years ago... In most Avata YT videos I notice an ugly green tint which I found very difficult to fix. Do you use any LUT for d-cinelike? Also, could you please share your GYROFLOW settings for the Avata?
But Ken Dobo said it's pilot fault that the drone enters the death drop... DJI need to sort this but I'm pretty sure it's a hardware bug rather than software fixable. Avata 2 I guess.
@@man.fromearth I imagine they won't fix it until their next cinewoop style drone. Not sure when we could expect that, probably won't be annual like the Minis.
do you feel like the old school gopro hero 4 session camera would be a decent alternative for someone who doesn't want to solder anything? it weighs 74 grams and has same mount and own battery power. just curious
How do you keep from getting jitters on the gopro? When I attach a gopro on my avata, when I make sharp turns or slow downs, I get camera shakes in the gopro footage
Go into the gopro player, under reelsteady settings, switch your aspect ratio to 9:16 with a 1% stabilization and 99% crop speed. Boom no more remounting for tiktok ;)
Big difference in quality! Especially the low light... I was hoping this would be an ALL in ONE package to get to get into fpv for real estate. but now I also need to get a gopro bones + 3d printed mount. :( Thanks for the video!
The Avata will be fine by itself. Go pro is better but Avata is just enough for quality content. Just start with Avata and work your way up to the Gopro
I see you’re using a filter on the avata. I’ve used it without a filter and looks so very close to GoPro, it doesn’t seem worth it. A filter would definitely effect low light
Did you see the difference in camera quality?
Yes, I found the difference to be more than I thought. Very cool video!
Yes I can see the difference. And I know there is a difference. Gopro yes for anything and dji is good but not good enough for RUclips or broadcast.
Well use a richo theta z1 as I won't put it on a drone.
I see some difference, the avata by itself has an amazing camera tho
@@petermines9748 it doesn’t have image stabilization anyway.

Waiting answer for the same question.
Great video! Shoot 4:3 and you get whatever aspect ratio you wish in post and it’s the most resolution.💡
So with GP 10 bones your shooting 4:3 in 4K, then adjusting the aspect ratio in post?
Yeah any camera I have I shoot in 4:3 or open gate it's the full sensor readout for most cameras. Not to mention flexible as hell for aspect ratios.@@bkjeep

love the content, I do real-estate photography and I was thinking of getting the AVATA and attaching my insta 360 to the AVATA.

IMO 2 cameras are not needed. The avata camera is fine and similarly you can just use gyroflow to get your vertical output.
But you will get so big crop if you use gyroflow for that. DJI Avata can’t shoot video with 4x3 ratio in 4K. You can check in this video how many details you will get with vertical camera mount…
@@man.fromearth I guess it depends on how you want to present your footage. The crop is fine for me since I normally show stuff in 16:9.

What do you mean by "it's obviously struggeling"?
Do you necessarily need the GoPro Bones for that?
awesome and amazizng, did my avata can do like that ?
that is normal mode or manual ?
Awesome footage man from earth
It’s amazing video, but I would like to ask you from where you got the thin, go pro and the cable you connected to the battery thank you

change your aspect ratio to 4:3 on the avata and u can post vertical video
This was a great video. Where is this location? Haha, I'll be back in Thailand soon and I'd like to stay there.
Which FPV drone would you recommend that you think is better than the Avata?
You Sir are very good 👏 And great effort on the girls 🍷

Can you use the new dji action 3 cam on top of a Avata?
Yes but in GoPro more better quality and stabilization for FPV
Great video! What did you set your rates for the avata?
No, it’s standard rates
