I like this piece of equipment. I;m just getting into leather work and i'm looking for something to make skiving the edges easier. Can yhis unit do edge skiving? If it does could ya'll please update your video to show that. Thank You.
Johnny, 807 is simple leather paring device, if you need perfect edge skiving with different angles, please consider model 809 leather paring machine, here is the video ruclips.net/video/9FeQJ1KjFG8/видео.html
tried the 809. its a waste of time. leather stretches and deforms. just work at it with a knife. i was just like you trying to find a short cut. spent a whole lot of money. ultimately just got a cheap knife from amazon that i learnt to sharpen with some sandpaper and hone with a scrap bit of leather. best results after a few hours of practice.
I just bought it. Could you please show the use of the different rollers and how to modify the angle.
Where are you from? Please contact our local dealer or sale engineer at info@automatic-sewing.com, thanks!
If you are looking for a very affordable leather sewing machine for making gun holsters and knife sheaths, you can consider CowBoy OUTLAW hand crank leather stitching machine, there is the video on youtube ruclips.net/video/TGSqsUV1Abk/видео.html
Im thinking of purchasing this machine as the motorized skiving machines are just way too expensive. However, it would really be nice if you guys could update this video by showing how well it skives on leather that its is not a perfect square shape, like the different shapes/angles for shoe uppers or circular leather. Using the different rollers would be nice as well as previously stated. Besides that thx for this upload!
This machine is designed for leather hobby market, not for shoes manufacturer, You can consider CowBoy model 801 for industrial skiving machine, thanks!
Well but in hobby market, sometimes is needed to skive not a perfect square shape, like the different shapes/angles, and more important >> the edges of shapes
hi thank you for this video
does this machine skives soft leather (cowhide type?)
It is better for soft leather. The blade is soft, so not good for hard saddlery leather.
I notice that you are not switching the roller at the bottom. can you show us the other 3 rollers also in action. This will be useful.
Perera, please write to our sale team in China at info@cowboysew.com, thanks!
Nice video... I just bought one of this, but cannot figure out how to replace the blade... Already tried to unscrew the middle top part, but it just didnt barge... Did I do something wrong?
please contact our sale engineer at info@cowboysew.com, show them the picture or video, the will help you.
What machine would you recommend to skive thicker hard saddlery leather? I am trying to skive 1" strips of hard leather from around 9oz to 6oz. Thanks
CowBoy 806 or 8116 is professional leather splitter for hard leather, automatic-sewing.com/leather-sewing-machine-for-saddlery.htm
Do you have videos about how to sharpen the blade? Thank you
This is standard blade, you do not need to sharpen it.
I just got a tool like this in and I cannot seem to get it to work ...is there a trick I am missing to start off...how tight to adjust the "wheel? ( no I did not buy it Hightex stitch.)
Hi, you cannot tighten the "wheel" (rollers), why you need to tight? It should be turned freely
What would you recommend to attach it to? I see you have a yellow board and clamps. Where can I find products like that?
Sorry, the yellow board is not ours, the video is made by our dealer.
Hi, I've just been looking at this on ebay. Do you know how thin it can shave to? For example can it do extremely thin line 0.2, 0.5 for example?
Where are you from? We have dealers in United States & Canada, Germany, France, United Kingdom (U.K.), Italy, Spain, Sweden, Serbia, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and South Africa, please contact our sale team at info@automatic-sewing.com for price or local dealer, thank you!
I'm really inexperienced with leather. But ive got a few projects. One of which requires skiving a 2" width piece do you think it would be better to buy than a handheld knife?
Your video makes it seem straight forward but as I'm inexperienced I'm not sure! Great video anyway ! Thanks for demonstrating
Anna, 807 cannot skive 2 inches wide leather by one time. If you need to split whole leather with 2 inches width, you can consider CowBoy model 8116.
@@HightexHeavysewingtechnology Thank you!
I have this and the 809. I bought them both from you in China. The 807 could be a good tool with the right modifications. There is a problem using the long roller. The ends of the razor blades buckle when skiving wide pieces of leather. I fixed the problem by using the 19mm roller from my Scharffix. Now leather is not putting pressure on the ends of the razor blade, so the ends don't buckle underneath. It's too bad you never got around to fixing this.
Sorry for your unpleased experience. Are you sure that you buy from us directly? Especially the 807, I doubt it is fake. We designed the 807 leather paring tool, made 20 sets for testing, somebody steal our design and sell at super cheap price, so we give it up and stop the production. So I do not think we sold you the 807.
We are very serious company, if some parts of our leather crafting equipment and industrial sewing machine break abnormally, you can get free replacement from our local dealer. So we suggest all customers to buy from our authorized dealer, not online. 807 should be fake, we never sold it.
@@HightexHeavysewingtechnology I'll check my records, but I believe I bought it from your Taobao store several years ago. It never worked that well until tonight when I decided to try the 19mm roller from my original Scharffix machine. The narrower roller doesn't stress the ends of the razor blade.
@@HightexHeavysewingtechnology I know you're a very serious company. I have many HighTex/Cowboy products: paring machines, cylinder arm sewing machine, 6" splitters.
@@HightexHeavysewingtechnology I just now checked my records. I bought both the 807 and the 809 from your Taobao store in March 2017. My 807 is not fake.
What will be the optimal angle of the cutting blade?
please contact our sales engineer at info@automatic-sewing.com,thanks!
Perdi esse eixo. Onde encontro para comprar?
Favor póngase en contacto con info@cowboysew.com, gracias!
Would this same work be possible with your 809 machine?
809 is better, becaus you can skive the leather at different angle. 807 is economical verion, you cannot adjust the cutting angle. So 809 is the best sale paring machine.
Hello I’m guessing you can shive things as wide as the throat of this tool. Not in one pass of course but multiple passes. Does that sound correct?
that's correct!
can you use it to skive just the edges instead of the entire width?
Yes, it is the advantage of this leather hand tools. You can adjust the angel of blade easily. Set the blade at 180 C, you can think the entire leather strip. Set the blade at 45 C or son, just skive the edges of leather.
Yes but you need be careful as easy to cut the leather
Can you use this machine to do skiving on the edge only instead of the entire strip of leather?
See the CB 809 edge skiving machine ruclips.net/video/9FeQJ1KjFG8/видео.html
@@HightexHeavysewingtechnology please answer the question.
How wide wide is the blade ? Will it skive a 1 1/2 belt blank ?
Carl, if you need leather crafting tool for 1 /1/2 belt, please consider CowBoy 806 or 8116, check the detail @automatic-sewing.com/saddlery-tools.htm
Where can I get the replacement blades for this tool?
This leather paring machine use gillette razor blades, you can buy anywhere.
I tried this machine on cow leather today and it was very hard to skìve, do you have any tips on how to do that?
What's the problem? Please send a short video to info@cowboysew.com, thanks!
There’s a possibility it may work great if the thicker/harder saddle leather was soaked & wet with water. Roll, place rubber band or tie some thread around it, then place it in 1/2” or water in a round cake pan.
Hello friend, is this machine for hard leather and dyed leather?
Cruz, this leather paring tool is for soft leather only.
How much for the machine?
This tool sliced the hell out of me. The top of the blade isn’t fully shielded
Jake, the leather paring device you bought is not made by CowBoy/HighTex.
We designed this leather crafting tool, sold 10 sets in China for testing and improving, somebody clone it before we start to production, we so we stop this project and gave up the mold. If you need a professional leather paring tool, please consider CowBoy 809, check the video here ruclips.net/video/9FeQJ1KjFG8/видео.html
how thin can you skive with this machine?
0.2mm leather
How is this different from a splitter? That's a long skive, l can do that with my splitter. l want something that can skive the last inch of my belts.
if you want to skive last inch of belts, Cowboy 806 is the right mchine, see the video here ruclips.net/video/A4o6-ednGLo/видео.html
Que precio?
Por favor, escriba a info@cowboysew.com por precio o distribuidor local, ¡gracias!
Good day . I am interested on this machine model (law cowboy 807). I am from colombia. How I do?
We do not have dealer in Colombia for leather machinery. This leather crafting tool is not heavy, can be sent by DHL, please contact our sale dept for directly sale, thanks! info@cowboysew.com
what is the price of this machine ?
In USD
automatic-sewing.com/es-Internacional.htm
I BROUGHT ONE FROM AMAZON AND IT COSTS ME MORE TO RETURN IT THAN IT IS WORTH, THEY ARE NOT WORTH ANYTHING UNLESS YOU WANT TO PEEL LEATHER , YOU CANNOT DO ANGLES, A FEW CHANGES TO THE DESIGN WOULD EASILY MAKE IT A VERY GOOD MACHINE, NOW I HAVE GOT TO KEEP IT , I WILL MAKE A GREAT MQCHINE OUT OF IT ANDTHE MAKERS CAN BUY IT FROM ME
It is economical version, if you want a better leather paring machine with adjustment of angle, please consider CowBoy 809, here is the video linkage ruclips.net/video/9FeQJ1KjFG8/видео.html
It’s just pretty much single purpose junk. Marketing pictures gave me an idea you can do angles. You can’t.
807 leather paring machine cannot adjust angles, if you need, please consider model 809.
Machine price please

I literally did this with an X-acto knife and it took 3 hours and came out kinda crappy. my fingers are sore. Dammit I hate model horses sometimes 😂
Dear sir, please note that many years ago we just made 20 pcs of this leather pearing device for testing, never sold them. So the tool you bought is fake, not genuine leather crafting tool from our CowBoy company. If you are looking for a professional leather paring machine, please consider CowBoy CB809, thanks!
Pointless just showing the long roller at work so many times and not the other two.
We cannot show all points in a short video
@@HightexHeavysewingtechnology As a potential customer I would have thought it would help you sell the machine if you made the video a little longer and showed its full potential. As it is you showed it cuting 6 pieces of leather with the long roller in 3min 30 secs. You could have shown it cutting 2 pieces with each roller in about 4 mins. Any way its up to you. By the way I just bought a Scharffix sciver because their video showed its full potential. Had your video showed the full potential of your sciver I might have bought yours. Hey ho...
@@tonyb83 Tony, where are you from? Please contact our local dealer, thank you!
I got this piece of equipment and it is useless, period.
Joseph, what's the problem? You buy 807 or 809? 809 is professional crafting tool. 807 is not good, becuse it cannot turn the angle.
@@HightexHeavysewingtechnology The adjuster screw is loose, the clearance tolerances are too high for the adjuster and it wriggles !
It can not do safe repeatable skives. The blades are very dull and will not cut leather. One has to use real razor blades and they dull too quickly.
The supplied blade edge is not fully covered by the blade guard thus making it dangerous to just handling it ! I have cut myself unpacking it and just handling it. Not good !
The skiving is terrible, it usually just cuts the leather in 2. It is impossible to adjust the angle of the blade properly with the hex wrenches supplied. They are too short and bring your hand too close to the blade when loosening or tightening the blade angle screw.
Overall, its a low quality device that I could not recommend at all. In fact it is going straight in the bin.
@@joebroderi The problem of 807 is impossible to adjust the angle of blade properly, so we stop the production, and focus on the production of 809. Sorry about that, if in future you need leather sewing machine, you can discount this amount of 807 when buy sewing machine.
How about actually talking and explaining what you are doing!! Grrr
