I can't thank you enough for the effort you have made in demonstrating skiving efficiently; it's detailed and methodical. I shall keep looking out for more of your techniques
Thank you so much for the detailed and helpful insights into skiving. This is a challenging task for me and seeing you breaking the process is very valuable. Thank you!
Thank you for your comment. This is the first time my video has been described as Zen😊 The key to skive leathers may be to work calmly. Have a good new year!
Really great explanation and camera angles! Thank you for showing how to slice across instead of only cutting forward. I think I can do this if I can get my knife sharp enough.
Sorry for the late reply and thank you for your comment. Actually, I'm not good at cutting with a Japanese leather knife, but once I get the hang of it, I'd like to share it with everyone.
thank you for sharing, it is a great insight, especially with the sharpening - think i will get some better stones and start practising some more. i usually use left handed english paring knives, but have a japanese skiving knife. will have a practice with it, especially for thinning leather. a big thank you, for how you do it, very much appreciated.
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for this video! Especially when you explained about the bevel. I'm new to leather crafting, and i've seen so many videos on it, but yours really helped me to understand! :D Can't wait to practice this!
I just completely ruined a project using a "super skiver". I threw the super skiver in the garbage and am waiting for one of those nice skiving knives to arrive. I will learn to do this well if it kills me. Thankfully, I have good knowledge of sharpening techniques. No more razor blade skiving tools for me!
HAKU -handmade leatherworks- Believe it Or not I actually took an old paint scraper that was thick and short and I spent about an hour and a half on that blade and I made it sharp as a razor blade it works 100 times better than the stupid super skiver
Hi sir, I have watched this video several times. I don't understand Japanese but I can say your English explanation outdo all of the English skiving guides I have read and watched. I have struggled so much with skiving leather to be paper thin and your video helped me the most. Thank you! I know you have made a video about sharpening knives but I struggle to maintain the sharpness of the knife. It cuts leather like butter for the first few times and then it dulls very quickly. Anyway, to maintain sharpness of knives other than stropping it?
Hello. Thank you for your comment. I was very encouraged by your comments. I also struggle to maintain the sharpness of the knife. And I also haven't found a solution other than using a strop diligently. Perhaps if the knife blade is made of harder steel (such as high-speed steel), the sharpness will last longer. However, it becomes difficult to sharpen the blade... Sorry for not being helpful.😓 If I can find a good solution, I'll post a video. Thank you so much!
I love all your videos. Very informative and extreme attn to detail. (which is a must) however, i cannot read fast enuf to catch all the txt at times. I do wish it was a bit slower. Keep up the good work
Thank you for your comment. I would be very happy if my video helped you. There are many wonderful leather craftsmen in Korea. I always learn from their videos.
Thank you for your comment. The question is the angle of my blade? In my case, the angle of the blade is about 14 -15 degrees. I use 1000, 5000 and 12000 stones for sharpening.
@@haku-handmadeleatherworks-5765 Me surge una duda, que es lo que consigues al usar una piedra de 5000 y 12000, quizás que dure más el filo? Muchas gracias por tus enseñanzas y tu tiempo ;). Es un placer aprender contigo.

Thank you so much. I'm glad that my video could help you and you enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for the detailed and helpful insights into skiving. This is a challenging task for me and seeing you breaking the process is very valuable. Thank you!

Absolutely the most incredible class about skiving !!!

Thanks

is there any option available in machine for the same angle ?
Instead of “criteria” , I’m almost certain he means “reference”
