Me Emociono de verdade em rever a banda que me introduziu na dance música/eurodance. Ainda no início dos anos 90, escutei a canção Happy Nation e me apaixonei pela banda. E assim foram quase 8 anos do auge da Euro. Bons tempos

Caraca, nem sabia que o Ace Of Base tinha tocado no falecido H e acho que ainda era transmitido à tarde. A vocalista Linn não veio ao Brasil junto pq já sofria de depressão depois que uma fã atacou a família dela à faca.

Infelizmente a loira do Ace Of Base não canta mais porque uma pessoa que se dizia fã, passou dos limites, saiu da Alemanha pra perseguir e invadir a casa da família dela portando uma faca. Isso a deixou traumatizada a ponto de só esperar o contrato com a gravadora expirar e viver novamente no anonimato. está no livro da Jenny pra quem quiser saber mais.

+Jose Sabino De Santana Linn fez a banda extraordinária porque ela é extraordinária. Pelo menos ainda podemos ouvir sua voz parece sair da boca de Jenny neste show (lip-syncing). :) A banda claramente não queria falar sobre Linn. Sim, ela tem medo de voar, mas Jenny e Jonas também, e Linn sempre voaram antes--eles voaram separadamente para que todos eles não fossem mortos de uma vez em um acidente de avião. Então não, não era isso. A banda às vezes disse que Linn tinha danificado sua voz (má idéia), mas seu gerente mais tarde admitiu que era uma mentira (claro, como Linn ainda cantou lindamente nas gravações). Havia muito para explicar--muitas razões, algumas das quais os fãs casuais não iriam querer ouvir.
Uma das razões, por exemplo, era que Linn estava com medo do quanto os fãs a adoravam--por causa do que uma louca assediadora dela fez a Jenny e seus pais. Ela não queria que as pessoas gostassem mais dela, e isso seria uma coisa terrível para contar aos fãs casuais. Eu acho que seus verdadeiros fãs deveriam saber disso, porém--que Linn queria proteger sua família, enquanto ficava na banda para ajudá-los a ter sucesso com sua voz.
Linn made the band extraordinary because she is extraordinary. At least we can still hear her voice seem to come out of Jenny's mouth in this show (lip-syncing). :) The band clearly did not want to talk about Linn. Yes, she is afraid of flying, but so are Jenny and Jonas, and Linn always flew before--they flew separately so that they all would not be killed at once in a plane crash. So no, it was not that. The band sometimes said that Linn had damaged her voice (bad idea), but their manager later admitted that was a lie (of course, as Linn still sang beautifully on the recordings). There was just too much to explain--too many reasons, some of which casual fans would not want to hear.
One reason, for example, was that Linn was afraid of how much fans adored her--because of what a crazy stalker of hers did to Jenny and their parents. She didn't want people to like her anymore, and that would be a terrible thing to tell casual fans. I think that her real fans should know this, though--that Linn wanted to protect her family, while staying in the band to help them succeed with her voice.

+Luis Pernía Well, it wasn't a complete lie because Linn was in fact very afraid of flying (specifically of the landing portion), although I agree it was a poor and false excuse that they made for her absence. They did lie sometimes, though, like when they claimed that Linn's voice was gone, as in wrecked beyond recovery; some fans who heard that one are still angry over it.
+Adfb Gsfng Many things happened. For one thing, one of Linn's many crazy, obsessed stalkers (a German girl) took Jenny hostage at knife-point in their parents' home, demanding to see Linn (who wasn't there at the time), and their mother's hands were badly cut when the family fought back and beat her up to save Jenny. This was not long after another stalker, this time a German fighter pilot of all people, had climbed up the exterior of a hotel where the band was staying in an attempt to reach Linn's room; fortunately someone saw him climbing, and he was arrested before anything bad happened. Linn felt both fear for her family's safety and crushing guilt for what happened to her sister Jenny (who was emotionally traumatized for months following the attack), and with their fortunes in the music business declining anyway, Linn started to feel it would be better for her (Linn herself) to "fade" increasingly into the background so that people would not obsess over her so much.
In addition, due to the clash between her personality and all of the excessive attention she was getting, as well as being overworked during one tour, Linn began to suffer from social agoraphobia (i.e. not afraid of open spaces, but of being around many people and being recognized) and stage fright, which impacted her live performances. As a result of this and her fear of being stalked, she also suffered from insomnia for a while, which is why she often appeared so jet-lagged during that time. She could have rested and recovered eventually, but by this time she was sick and tired of being a pop star, which was something she had never wanted nor expected to become in the first place. I mean, for a couple of years after Ace of Base hit it big it was very exciting and fun for Linn, but ultimately it was not who she is, which is a very private person who in the long run would much rather live a quiet life in obscurity than be famous.
And if that weren't enough, the music business--especially idiots like Clive Davis--never treated Linn or Jenny with the respect they deserved as successful, proven artists. When Linn wanted to share her talent and creativity with the world and it still meant something to her, everyone around her except for Jenny--even Jonas and Ulf eventually--always had to have things their way with her and what she did. What she and Jenny wanted rarely mattered, and after being forced to sing a song she didn't like and didn't want to sing ("Everytime It Rains"), and having her version chosen over Jenny's version despite the fact that Jenny wanted to sing it, she had had enough of the music industry. She still stayed in the band for years due to contractual obligations and the band meaning so much to Jenny and Jonas, but rarely showed up for anything anymore, as we see here.
Then around 2005 Linn was feeling better about things, Jenny finally managed to convince her to sing live up front with her again, and the band was in the middle of writing a new album. When she made the announcement to fans, Jenny was so excited about Linn singing with her onstage again! However, after writing and producing maybe four songs for the new album, all of a sudden their work ground to a halt, and the band took a break. During this time Linn decided that she would be happier to be out of the business entirely, and formally left the band in 2007. I'm still not 100% sure of what happened, but I do know that there was a conflict between the girls and the guys, who had very different ideas about the image of the band and what Jonas described as how they viewed fame. A few years later Jonas and Ulf would conspire with the record company to kick Jenny out of the band, and then they hired two new singers to replace her and Linn. Given the image they tried to make afterward, I think I see where the conflict was--Jonas and Ulf wanted to "update" the band's image to be sexier and edgier, which Linn and Jenny weren't going for, while Linn had said once that she thought their music had lost its edge, which she wanted to get back, hinting at a fundamental creative conflict that along with the conflict over their image might well have halted their work on the 2005 album, leading ultimately to Linn's departure. In any case, Linn discovered that she was indeed much happier to be out of the music business, and has no plans or desire to ever return.
As an epilogue, the new band lineup financially failed within two years, and Jonas and Ulf simply cut off communication with the two replacement singers until they decided, in total confusion, to leave on their own. Jenny was livid at her treatment and being kicked out of the band, stopped talking to her brother Jonas, got a lawyer, and threatened to sue him, Ulf, and the record company, but dropped the lawsuit probably because it threatened their family ties (I bet their parents and Linn told her it wasn't worth it, no matter how much of a butthole Jonas was being). Jonas later had to beg forgiveness from Jenny and Linn, which they granted but only as his sisters and not as his former bandmates. Jenny still performs on her own as the voice of Ace of Base, but never wants to work with Jonas and Ulf again, saying that Ace of Base is finished. She wishes that Linn would join her now, but Linn still doesn't want to perform or show her face in public at all as a pop singer. Jonas promised Linn that he would never ask her to perform again, but he does so indirectly in various ways, wanting her just to sing on a record without performing live, and her answer is still no (or more likely never). However, she did give Jonas and Ulf permission to use her face (pre-existing photos only) and voice in Ace of Base's "Hidden Gems" album, which includes the songs they recorded in 2005. By the way, I left a bunch of details out because this was getting long enough as it is!
