Very interesting. Thorough explanation. Neat to see how much you try to reuse metal pieces from other farm items here and there in your plan. The slope was explained very well at the end. Thanks.
The "built to slope" concept was the "eye-opener" in this one! What a great idea! Let gravity handle your drainage issues---for FREE! (well, with some thought...not exactly free) The clerestory opening is genius....assuming the builder KNOWS his environment intimately. My own is "pointed" due S and glazed. Overhang computed from !0 to 03 month exposure. I didn't have to compute for a bunch'a hot cows in my house. Excellent video (as usual) thank you for the tour!
Thanks for the barn tour and pointing out the interesting special features. I like the use of the old steel wagon wheels. The oak boards over the manger is unique. Blessings to you all.
“If the door moves, they play with it!” No truer words spoken! Awesome build! For a make shift Squeeze/shoot…I used one solid wall along one side, front wall is solid plus three 4’ walk thru corral panels as a way to contain if I need to work on my girls. I can access the front or the back while keeping them contained…seems to be working well. Thanks for sharing! Love the metal wheels being utilized! God bless✝️🙏🏻🇺🇸🐂
My father in-law was always thinking like your dad. Pure genius. Some of the best architects and engineers are on the farms. Very well done Mr. Gierok.
The gate to protect the door is a great idea. The building is a very impressive design, everything is well thought out. This building could be marketed even.
The old timers think about everything. The amount of experience and knowledge your dad has is quite impressive. Really well thought out and it’s a workers mentality that makes it simple to use but very complex to design then build. You guys have a great thing going. Looks like your dad wil be able to be really proud that the next generation will do a great job. Farm is good hands. Good job and best of luck.
This isn't just a barn, it is a work of beauty too! I love the extensive use of Oak, the attention to detail, and the way ye used the old wheels to make the railings surrounding the yard. Truly a project ye can all be justifiably proud of.
That is a real nice barn. And it’s so nice to see the cattle are so calm, showing how calm you are working with them. Nice finishing touches to the barn too!
I found your channel because your channel it was one of the few channels that had any information on harvesting corn on less than a ginormous scale, But now that I see your whole operation your farm is amazing I love everything about this channel and what you’ve been doing.
@@GierokFarms I love your scale. Very similar to mine although we are beef cattle. This barn is a work of art. Lots of ideas presented in this video. Similarly I spent 2 months planning my beef cattle working facility under a roof. I would visualize working and walking every direction in it and it turned out pretty darn good.
Best video on RUclips!!!! Your dad is a very smart and creative man. He really knows how to build something that will last long and won't cost a fortune to build.
Very impressed with all the thought that went into the cattle building! Great job all around! A lot of simple, uncomplicated engineering and practical applications that go a long way to make the building durable, dependable and highly functional. The cattle look to be of high genetic quality too! Have a great 2023 and beyond...
your dad is just like my late father. thought it out b4 building anything. i've seen my dad build rafters b4 even digging the foundations and they fit perfect. guys like them are rare.
Wow, that building has your father spirit locked into it's design. A nice way to write your family history. This building is build to last and well thought. Enjoy the fruit of hard labor. Congrats
Very well thought out for long-term durability and use. I liked all the extra steps to keep the cattle from ripping things apart. We did our free stall barn to slope in the middle to take use of the natural lay of the land instead of making it flat.
I find the thinking and planning and "scheming" to make it best for the intended use(s) the most enjoyable part of the whole project. I'm not a proud man but I take a lot of personal pride in that when I'm using/working it. Its dang nice to see others the same way, reassuring that I'm not a total freak. THANKS for sharing that with us; good on y'all and job(s) well done!
Congratulations to your Dad on having the perseverance, knowledge and ability to build such a nice barn. One thing that your dad forgot to do was to smile, it always seems more inviting for people watching the video. It is great that you, your dad and brother can all work together to make the farm successful. Always enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.
My 10x30x30 barn, is made of mostly salvaged machinery crates at a cost of $2500 . It is used as a workshop and storing VW Vans . I grew up on a farm where I learned to become an engineer . The wood was stored for six years as the work began when I retired .
all the little tricks to make you life easy and save time you get more done in the time you have. when you stop the cows from doing harm to you barn life is good. love you farm
Hello just subscribed your very smart nice build. Your cattle look great and seem to be calm around you. You must treat them very well. Look forward to watching more. Have a great day
I just stumbled onto your channel. What a great find. Your dad thought of just about everything when he designed the barn. I was a mechanic and worked around farms. The farmers always took notes when you worked on a problem. I knew that they would never call me back again for the same problem, because they fixed themselves the next time. Most farmers are smart and very creative. Thanks for sharing your farm life.
That’s a nice simple cost effective barn for heifers and dry cows. Can’t wait for the other building tours. Your dad seems to be a natural on the camera. Merry Christmas
Well done once again....enjoy these videos with my Saturday morning coffee lol....I agree with a lot of the other comments...simple and effective design....listening to your dad explain his thought process reminds me of my dad lol...all the small time farmers no matter where they are from must be kindred spirits lol
Wow, Your pops is amazing in his thought process & abilities. It’s nice to see old time farmers. My pops raised 50 head of cattle when I was a kid & a lot of the things you guys do remind me of my childhood. I used to throw down silage & bed the cattle with him however went into a non farming career. Tks for great memories & always help pops wherever needed. I sure miss mine.👍👍❤️❤️.Merry Christmas from my family in NW Ohio to yours.
I like that you built the barn on the grade of the ground & kept the roof level . It saves you lots of $ on moving a lot earth on 4’ difference in 90’.
I am always amazed at the common sense and ingenuity demonstrated by farmers. Your Dad demonstrates that everywhere in everything he does.
Awesome video on a great barn !! Great idea with the wheels in concrete for fence
That's a pretty groovy shed you did a great job
Very interesting. Thorough explanation. Neat to see how much you try to reuse metal pieces from other farm items here and there in your plan. The slope was explained very well at the end. Thanks.
What an awesome barn, made with lots of forethought!
Hook chains. Good idea 💡
Wow! Such thought and planning. Good use of generational knowledge! Beautiful besides.
Nice job thanks for sharing
Fantastic. 👍
Your dad put a lot of thought into designing that barn and reusing things from around the farm. He is really good at explaining everything too!
Thank You, it sure is a barn to be proud of!
phenominal work guys !

You can see your father is a hard worker and loves his life and farm , his hands show his dedication.🇬🇧🏴
His dedication to his work/lifestyle is something to be proud of! Thanks James!
Very clever design. Like that you repurposed so much material.
The amount of brains and thought that went into this is outstanding!
The gate to protect the door is a great idea. The building is a very impressive design, everything is well thought out. This building could be marketed even.

Very smart guy
My grandfather stopped milking in the early 70s but he loved Holsteins so much he kept raising the as beef cattle!
Nothing wrong with that, It is sure nice to have cattle around!
