Just an FYI! Hanbang is not an ingredient in the BoJ serum, but a philosophy under which they formulate their products. Just like the brand was created with the ethos of utilizing the beauty of the Joseon era, they use the philosophy or hanbang to inspire the use of certain ingredients, like ginseng. But it’s not a single ingredient in itself!
Came here to say the same thing! BoJ has such a great “story” as a brand and it would be a shame not to convey that when talking about them
Thank you - I love seeing budget friendly options recommended because, let’s face it: we’re all in a global recession and money is tight. But having a skincare routine with some nice (but cheaper!) options does help with the day to day dread imo.

While witch hazel is an astringent, it is also antiinflammatory. When I hear astringent, I think of Clean & Clear stinging "toners" from the 90s and 00s. Witch hazel is not like those though. It can really help if people have redness or open wounds (burst/picked pimples) as it slightly constricts blood vessels, lessening redness, bleeding, and oozing. I have a witch hazel salicylic acid toner that is gentle and soothing to help keep my mid-30s acne under wraps.

Isntree green tea toner, beauty by joseon glow serum, cosrx snail 92 cream.. works great for my oily skin .. I use those 3 things more than everything in my skincare.
I got really lucky and found that Beauty of Joseon serum at Marshalls...had never heard of the brand before but the ingredients looked amazing so gave it a shot. It has become my new favorite serum now! Its like dripping velvety honey on your face lol so good💛💛💛

It's great when products put plants' scientific names on the labels! But it's also nice to throw in their common names too. Houttuynia cordata is chameleon plant/rainbow plant, and vitamin tree is just sea buckthorn.

Thank you so much for recommending the bioderma sensibio micellar water! Finally a micellar water that doesn't irritate my skin. I tried it yesterday for the first time and it was amazing! As i'm pregnant i'm usually sooo tired in the evening and i have found myself not doing my evening skincare, but with this i can finally lay in bed and removing my makeup without getting an itchy and irritated skin. @@karenswartzlander5411 Sticky and goey but not on the skin. It’s really hard to explain. It feels as is it works as a protective layer on the skin but not inclusive, thick or suffacating. I can’t compare it with anything else.
I love BoJ. I recently won a BoJ package from Stylevana and Alice, and it came with the 4 pack of the serums, and I personally love them!! They're gentle, and effective and go with everything else I use on my skin. I love having more gentle serums to go with my other skin care!
Which one is your favourite?
Love the BoJ Glow serum. My skin just seems to love propolis and the addition of niacinamide is genius.

I felt in love with their coconut pink clay cleansing foam, and gamechanger, I have combination skin and one single wash my face got so bright and my pores were absolutely cleaned. I love that product, my acne marks went away and I saw a visible change on my skin health, therefore I started looking for other toccobo products. I will get the toner now

I adore the Beauty of Joseon cream. I've been using it for years, and I think I've gone through 15 jars at this point.
I have been using forever as well! Definitely my favorite, but I haven't tried the new formulation. Is it just as good as the old one?
As a biological technician my first instinct regarding the peptide threads would be to say it makes no sense. If you want something to go deep into the skin, the molecule should be as small as possible - we see this with the different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid, where lower molecular weight ones go deeper into the skin. How is a molecule like those super long peptide threads going to enter the skin? Unless it's put into threads for stability and is broken up when rubbing it on the skin, but if that's the case, I wonder why nobody else has done it. (Disclaimer I haven't looked at any of the research or the brand claims of this, it's just my thoughts off-the-bat)

Peptide shot ampoule, my favourite! ♥♥ I love it, it's light, hydrating, perfect for my sensitive skin and it really helped me with reducing the fine lines. I remember when i purchased it out of curiosity for a first time. I didn't really check picture, how it should look like, that there are threads in it. So when it arrived, I was scared, that ampoule went bad with weird worms inside.. 😂 So I nearly threw away one of my most beloved ampoule.. 😂 Nevermind, silly me.. 😊 There is another version from Coreana cosmetics, Ample:N Peptide shot ampoule 2x (with more peptides), but I haven't tried it yet.

Beauty of Joseon is one of my favourite k beauty brands, I've used many different products from different brands of varying prices, and their cream and serum has been most wonderful for my super dry skin. I've had to overhaul my entire skincare routine and cut down dramatically on price and amount of steps/products because of the global recession and its nice to still have effective options.

I actually like using sheet masks when I take a bath. Whatever left over serum/essence is left, I just pour into the bath. Idk if it does anything however it doesn't feel like I'm just throwing it away.

I’ve tried boj dynasty cream but I’m kinda drawn to buy the tocobo multi ceramide cream bc my skin switches from dry to oily on my forehead and somehow I feel thick creams work better for my skin barrier (and the texture makes me think that lol)
When I used to do sheetmasks, I'd take the mask out and use that then close the packaging it came in, and use the serum in there daily for the next few days until it was gone 🤣 I actually still have like a handful of sheet masks, but im sure they're expired by now.
Me too, depending on the kind of essence they were soaked in I could use the same mask from two to three days...

I acquired that Ample:n peptide shot more than a year ago around the time Eunni was promoting it. My brother was buying it for me, so I went all greedy opting for the bigger bottle which was a mistake! Huge mistake. The scent is overpowering, the texture is not pleasant and those threads (which are not peptide threads after all because real peptide threads are too small to be seen) need a good rubbing to melt. Right away I felt my skin reacting. Changed my routine and I still turned red and oily with that scent all over my face. Then I used it on my legs after showering or shaving. There is still some left in the bottle so I'll have to rinse it off and recycle the bottle. While I was disappointed with this product, I still have my eyes on the ceramide shot.

IDK what you got, but the one I bought did not smell at all in particular. If you got it through Amazon there is always a chance that what you got wasn't the real thing. I agree with James' assessment of the product, as long as you use it consistently and have realistic expectations of your skin care products. But you are right about peptide chains being small- I have no idea what those threads are either. However skincare is a very subjective experience, and there could be any one ingredient in some product that you react badly to, and I think it is best to be somewhat self-aware about this when reviewing any product- the difficulty of knowing whether if it was the product or your personal experience of it that is the issue. There is never any harm in telling of your experience, just be fair minded in evaluating that experience. I mean if a lot of people react badly to the same product that will also be an issue as well even if does work for some.
@@a.westenholz4032 100% certain the Ample:N peptide serum IS super fragranced. If you have one that is not fragranced that's the Ample:N Ceramide Shot. I'm am super surprised James did not mention this in his review because this peptide serum is not only mildly fragranced but SUPER fragranced like one of those strong cheap hand soaps that lingers around. This is no joke. And no I did no get mine on Amazon; was an authentic product from authorized retailer. Not to mention alcohol is also fourth on the ingredients list. Huge pass for me. Their ample:n Ceramide Shot however is fragrance free and a zillion times better. Please see the ingredients list below of the HORRENDOUS ample:n peptide serum:

Yay! More things to try! I love a drippy sheet mask also, but I sort of squeegee the mask when I pull it out, then put the excess serum in a small (like sample size face product) container and put a compressed sheet mask "pill" in it for a later face mask (I add a couple mask pouches worth of excess serum before using it, or I might add an essence or face mist or serum if I need more fluid). Those compressed sheet masks are inexpensive.

If your skin is reactive and you want to try another K beauty brand I highly suggest Pyunkan Yul, especially the ATO line. I have roseacea and if something flares it up one of the ATO toners or creams soothes it so quickly and helps heal it. They're unscented, no fancy packaging, just fantastic quality. The line is from medical clinic in South Korea which specializes in atopic skin issues.

I’m looking for a new chemical sunscreen after la Roche posay decided to reformulate their invisible sunscreen which was my favourite but now it’s yellow stinks like chemicals and has stained all my white clothes yellow urgh the best thing is it doesn’t sting the eyes. What is the difference between an Ampoule vs Serum? I only hear ampoule when referring to K-beauty so I wondered if that was their version of a serum 🤔
Also, Dr Cerucle sheet mask has so much serum that I literally applied it all over my body 😂😂. Why not put the mask over your beard?
There's no difference between an ampoule and a serum. It's just marketing language.
Even as someone who enjoys fragrance in my skincare, that AmpleN Peptide serum was a nightmare. It smells like a whole bottle of perfume. I find it completely unusable, even on the rest of my body.

You should mention that the ample peptide serum, the fragrance is SUPER strong. Buyer beware: Didn't buy it at the local store near me because after I tried it on my wrist I was like omfg, this is the strongest skincare fragrance I have ever tried. Like one of those cheap strong hand soap fragrance smells that takes a long while to go away from the skin. no joke. Huge pass for me.

@@Sonia-lo2pr impossible to not recognize it. The smell is so strong I kid you not, its the strongest most pungent skincare serum I have ever encountered and not in a good way. Very sus, IMHO for him to not mention it at all.

I drain the excess serum from the face mask package (tiny diagonal cut on a lower corner, pour into a small container), typically I get 4-6 serum maskings from one mask. I also take those single use masks (target is the only place I've seen them) and squeeze everything out, it's usually .5-1 oz, which isn't bad...that's enough for 5-10 uses, esp if you do saturate but do not slug your skin w mask. The ingredients are fairly nice, nothing very harsh, and you end up getting a nice amount for $3. Altho I also bought the sand & sky emu Apple mask bcuz I can actually see more bounce & plumptiousness when i use it. But I prefer cheaper products for when I want mostly sensory luxe self care or a simple clay cleanse.
You really shouldn't save and use the excess serum from face masks like that. They are a one-time use product and the preservative system probably isn't robust enough for the excess serum to safely be again and again and again after opening. Certainly not for 5-10 additional uses. It's an easy way to end up with a bad breakout or worse.

Budget friendly but not so much :/ I get 40€ in shipping and 35€ in taxes for each order. So in the end, despite the low prices, it's not so cheaper than EU based shops :/
