- Ippo has been a dominant champion and world-ranked, but he has never entered the ring with the intention of truly hurting someone. In his last title defense, Ippo faced Kojima and took things to a personal level, securing a 1-round, 1-punch knockout against Kojima and subsequently sending him flying. This fight exposed Ippo's flaws as a boxer, and he paid the consequences dearly with his upcoming losses.

Would you like to see a more agressive Ippo return to the ring?
Yessss
No hes literally gonna get brain damage
yes
Yes and no. While I definitely think that Ippo needs to utilize his aggressive side more in fights in orders to cross the “line” that Takamura previously mentioned to him, this can only be done right with the correct amount of aggression. We’ve definitely seen Ippo improve his boxing much more during the retirement arc, with him actually learning about the technicalities in the sport and actually getting to see him utilize them sometimes. I’d love to see him be aggressive, but also maintain his overall growth in boxing instead of just rushing head first into every fight like he used to- which would eventually lead him to ACTUALLY developing punch drunk syndrome. I have faith in Morikawa though, so I seriously doubt he’s gonna take the second route. Now we just need the extra motivation to not only get ippo back into the ring, but also give him a clear goal that will lead him to the world stage.
what chapter please?
Pretty sad that he was actually his biggest fan but he pissed him off to see him at his best
He took the “Take one for the team” a little bit to personally
hi joaquin
I think he is not. He selfish
Hajime no Ippo has a lot of sad moments but I think that the down fall of Hayami was sadder. Sadly I think he won’t make a come back.
@@VITAS874 ayo aren't you the one who like to judge other without common sense just like how you say roblox is a kid game???
And acting like u are cool with your off-topic reply ???
It would be really interesting to see Kojima who is such a fan of ippo realizing that after that major headshot ippo took from him he lost his next two matches and retired. I hope we get a future scene of them running into each other by random chance. They both live in japan and attend boxing events after all.
Who did he lose to? I don't read the manga but ik he lost to mexican similar to or was like the top contender at the time for Ricardo. Who else did ippo lose to?
@lewistran5973 and Filipino Featherweight Champion Antonio Guevara. Not a super impressive boxer. Ippo was punch drunk and was fragile. Ippo pretty much knew he was retiring after that match win or lose.
@@kylegullick1838 damn, ik he is coaching but think I read that he'd make a comeback. Is he coming back or no? Was the second Filipino fight after the comeback or something?
@@lewistran5973the Filipino fight was after the Antonio fight and he retired after that. He’s 100% going to make a comeback and come back way stronger, otherwise there’d be no point of the ongoing manga 😂
@@lewistran5973 Well, it's definitely going to happen, but the comeback hasn't happened yet. Nobody knows when it'd happen, who he's going to be going up against, how much stronger he's gonna be etc. because it hasn't been written yet.
Don't forget about Barfmichi, that was the first time I think we saw Ippo completely lose it.
Not really, I'm pretty sure takamura explained that ippo was in a hurry by trying to end the match quick because he doesn't wanna hurt barfmichi and ippo forgot to use his foot for more power at the beginning of the match.
He wasnt pissed off geromichi but wanted to end the fight quickly to not hurt him more
I'm gonna read that scene again to make sure. It's just that visciousness he had at the beginning of that fight wasn't something we had seen in the ring from him before.
he wasnt pissed off at geromichi tho... he was desperate to end the fight as fast as possible to not hurt his friend
@@crustybomb115 yeah, I definitely got this one wrong, I didn't remember that line from Takamura that Ippo was trying to end the match quickly
Bro took "Do a flip" to another level 💀
That wasn’t a request. That was a statement.
Lol F LMFAO
We really need a guy like you. I want someone who covers the Hajime no ippo like grandline review
I love how all of your recent videos focus on Ippo strengthening his previous weak points. It's really helping build up his eventual comeback. I cannot wait to see Ippo in new form and back in action
There is a chapter in the arc (spoilers) after Ippo’s last fight to date.
He is reflecting with the coach about his memories as a boxer, who was the hardest match, who had the strongest punch, etc.
While Kojima probably belongs on one of those lists, he is absent from them. On one hand it could be to show just how powerful that punch was, but on the other hand it’s a fitting “punishment” for Kojima. He put Ippo in a state where he doesn’t even want to remember him and does not remember him. He is not part of his great boxing memories that he can be proud of.
Because that fight was one of Ippo's worst memories.
He let his opponent get inside his head, played right into his tactics, allowed rage and hatred to guide his hand and took a punch that sent him into one of his lowest of lows in life.
Of course, once he comes out of the current arc, that will definitely change with hindsight, but man, this fight must have been the "where it all went wrong" in Ippo's mind for sure.
He probably doesn't see it as a boxing match, instead just a brawl that he's ashamed of
It's great to see high quality Hajime no Ippo content
The punch he took in this match was the start of his punch drunk symptoms leading him to retire
Which chapter
Btw am anime only.. whats punch drunk symptom?
@@samratpaul4238 basically nervous system degradation. Your brain stops functioning properly and it's basically a death sentence for boxers
@@radii5734 fuck... Is he back in latest chapters?

they need to animate ippo vs kojima, i wanna see how they animate kojima flying across the ring from ippos punch
Apparently the old man va died so they didn't want to disrespect him by replacing another va for the old man but if it was animated atleast it could be 200+ chapters per season
A wise man fears wrath of a gentle man
💯
i remember reading this one, i was so hyped up like it's about damn time for us to see an ippo we have never seen, then after that match is also the start of his declining of career like there was a panel of his brain being shake,
Pretty sure he took the Sawamura fight personally, too...
True, but oddly enough not as personally as this match.
the sawamura fight was more of a "ill kick his ass for you and my girlfriend, bud" kind of personal... by comparison in this case its more of a "youre trashtalking the people i fought hard against, which means youre also discrediting my effort and indirectly calling me weak by proxy. therefor im gonna beat you so god damn hard you wouldnt even remember anything" kind of personal... which, funnily enough, was pretty accurate considering the guy literally forgot the fight even happened lol
After the match, Aoki told ippo than sawamura was on the mat on all fours and that he beat the person who cheats in boxing, but Ippo said that at that point, he didn't care about him cheating, he was only fighting a strong challenger.
Mashiba after he injured miyata on purpose, sawamura after he injured kumi, and this fight ippo took it personal
The one time we saw Ippo’s full potential
if ippo really went full power every match everyone would be cooked
Not really if he went full force every time he would be somewhat easy to counter with a good Jab actually Mike Tyson who inspired Ippo’s style lost to a Jabber who timed his head moving
@@me5o164 yeah but mike tyson isnt the smartest tho he could've won but mike tyson is a guy who goes out there and thinks "i gotta keep hitting him thats all" mike tyson gets to adrenaline drunk when he fights main reason he lost 6 matches
@@TheDreamntReality RUclips shorts has done irreversible damage to boxing if mfs really think you're right
@@jorgeribeiro6307 just pointing out how the fact mike tyson is just a hot head when he was younger and didnt think much at all when he fights i swear people like you always try to pick on someone you think is stupid but when you find out you got nothing to do but be slowely backed into a corner
@@TheDreamntReality although I agree he isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed he was more than a stupid puncher all his body was always moving like one muscle that helped him massively increase his power with footwork and defense he he even recently trained a MMA fighter into nearly beating the current heavyweight champion of the world in boxing and before that he trained Tank Davis into beating a then undefeated boxer Ryan Garcia so he does know
And saying “I gotta keep hitting him “ is kinda disrespectful because in his prime he lived and breathed boxing and his first loss came after the death of his mentor which he never really recovered 100% from
I think this is where he starts to become “broken”
Ya, this hit was what caused him to have "punch drunk" issues, between that and the futher 2 matches, his brain was getting more and more scrambled to the point he couldn't even land a punch anymore due to his depth perception being off.
Those 2 matches afterwards when he gets knocked out was when he decided to retire and become a trainer, while recovering from his injuries and improving his skills beyond being just a heavy hitter.
Itagaki ruiner duh 💀
Everything since this arc was getting darker and really depressing, probably ippo's punch drunk started with this match
The champion festival with this last defense coming quickly after Ippo's last fight gave Ippo too little time to properly recover. All that led to his body to take a toll.
Yeah Itagaki f*cked up somewhat but even if he had passed the instructions from Takamura Ippo still would had made the same mistake, he let Kojima get under his skin and a last minute advice was not going to change that.
Although I'm sure it won't happen, but what if when ippo and ricardo fights and then something happens that will awaken the "monster" inside ippo? If that happens I want it to be like takamura's when he is raged againts bryan hawk
I'm sure he can but stopped doing it because it was hard to apply his full power with basics he would need a hybrid style like ricardo. Also he tends to lose control of himself which makes him forget his basics and might actually kill somebody lmao
Ngl its for the best that ippo doesn't do something like that. It would be hype as hell, but against a basically perfect boxer like Ricardo, it would just be like a replay of what happened when ippo did his sparring match against Ricardo. Ricardo counters a lot, ippo hits the mat this time, and doesn't get back up since all of his force would be in his punches while he gets countered
I do agree I think Ricardo Awakening the monster within would be more hype @@worthyedge9307
@@worthyedge9307also, Ippo is at his worst, boxing wise, when he gives into his anger. There's a reason the Coach was pissed at ippo after this chapter's match.
@@JohnDoe-pc3uk yeahh.. damn near ALL of ippo's other opponents would not be letting that wild punch slide. They are smarter than that and aren't in bad condition like ippo's opponent here was.
Really really getting the feeling that a lot of the people saying things like "this is ippo at his best" or "this is what ippo should bring out against 'x' boxer" don't actually read the manga..
What I really liked about the ice cold stare Ippo gave is it looked more tired and bored than really angry.
When the nice, and always happy guy snaps
You know you will die
I think this after that 2 ton punch is where ippo started showing being boxing drunk .I think it was the one that gave him noticeable brain damage
Man said, "Okay then, I'll see you in the ring." I was not showing up.
if he not trash talk.....he maybe can win but he made ippo angry
Or maybe Ippo would have been able to dodge him. He may not have taken down Kojima in 1 punch, tho........
Journalists: Interesting. Makunouchi, how do you think your punch compares to his two ton one?
Ippo: After the match, ask him.
One of the rare uberbadass moments of Ippo outside the ring.
Great upload, nice video to watch after college 🔥🔥🔥🔥
"This wont take long"
0:41 wally be like:oh sh-*Insert getting uppercutted*
Man i would wish season 4 came by now i really like story and would like to see a season 4 and ippo return
Now that I think about it , this fight was indeed a foreshadowing
In hindsight there was lots of foreshadowing. Nekota's story about how he got punch drunk, multiple challengers trying to exploit Ippo's visible weaknesses. Ippo forgetting the basics and over-relying on the dempsey roll among others.
I almost cried listening to this....good job
True definition of "fuck around and find out"
Great video as always
After that fight he decided to create the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
Bro almost became joe with that punch
I like the dying light music man keep it up
Ippo: "Hmmm, maybe I shouldn't tank hits and instead doge them..."
The only match where everyone loses.
This Ippo is the definition of me personally I wouldn’t let that slide
The background music gave me flashbacks to dying light 1
Feel bad man
The opponent even though trash talk him just wants to be taken seriously
Hippo tried of the constant annoyance and him dissing hippo’s opponent decided to put all his anger in the ring
It’s not like hawk were there’s no redemption but just a guy who thought mean well did it the wrong way
Dp you imagine how devastating would it be if Ippo had the same power Kamogawa had in his prime, landing the punch on Kojima?
In case you guys don't know the name of Rosario's hairstyle, it's known as bantu knots.
Hes lucky he didnt said anything to his mother or father otherwise he would've die instead of survive
That's a nice use of the DL theme
Ippo and Komogawa didn’t realize the flaw in the style. Even with all the warnings. They couldn’t see it in leveling up his body (to charge) and weapons such as the Dempsey roll. Which caused Ippo to retire
how to do a back flip-
Google: duck down a bit and jump, bring your knees to chest........
Bing: 0:04
I would like to point out he was pissed at Mashiba for ruining his reunion with miyata. So much so that the didn’t even warm up and fought to the point of hurting his hand. And sawamura hurt kumi pissed off ippo badly as well.
And the fight that got him punch drunk 🤦🏻
It was by far my second favorite fight because he didn’t hold back anything.
Crow my man like always love your content but i gotta ask when are you gonna drop that video about Miyata and Randy boy Jr i wanna hear your take on that 👀😁
Sometime near the future but I can't confirm when
@@ReadingCrow no rush my man just been keeping an eye out for it 😁
wow this channel is mad underrated
No is gonna talk about the dying light theme song
Well I wouldnt say it was he only fight he took seriously and went in with anger, he was trying to turn Samamura's brain into a CTE smoothie for grazing Kumi
satsui no ippo is best ippo.
I always felt like this match was the match where Ippo went past that limit that Takamura was talking about. The monsters that lie on the international scene.
He dug deeper into himself than ever before, and he sent Kojima flying when all his rage culminated in remembering all of his previous fights and his coach. Unfortunate that this very catalyst in raw motivation was followed by his downfall. We peeked into what Ippo could become.
and sawamara too lol
tHAT GUY WAS A DUESH BAG!!!
edit:
tHAT was nuts i have never seen ippo that dark looking .
i havent seen much of the manga but he looked kinda terrifying in those panels
But some reason ippo was more mad here than in the sawamura fight.
Dude got punched so hard that gave up boxe and started to make videogames instead
Music choice from rdr 2 was on fking point🎉
It was such a bitter sweet match, yeah the one shot was fucking cool but the backstory of the whole fight just makes it so upsetting at the end. A glorious match overall.
good video. Very sad. You delivered what I wanted to hear. Good job
Itagaki just hoe’d Ippo for no reason, because Ippo always gives it his all.
FLIPS FOR DAYS
Which chapter is this? I want to start reading the manga again and this is around where I stopped
Barfmichi and kojima just want to fight ippo in his best condition but does it wrong
We all have our breaking point.
I have question bc I don't read manga and my question is the manga continuing? does that mean are they still creating a new one?
Yes, it is still ongoing
Dude Ippo was so cold in this fight
Dying light soundtrack threw me off for a second🤣
Damn that dying light music hits hard
What a dead wish. GG Kojima
ngl any other ippo but rage ippo most likely would have been knocked down or out
While Geromichi said something awful to ippo, his reaction is only confused and wanted to spar like old days.
This guy out of nowhere, first impression is mocking his idol and his closest ones, even though his idol wants to having good conversation.
No wonder his reward is getting a punishment from his idol with bloodlust.
Pretty much every single person that exists now
Does not know how to correctly use anger that people give them to their own advantage
SPOILER Don’t forget the time he put the kid down and looked like a demon
Yo where can I get the manga from?
how old is ippo now btw?
Pushing 27 or 28 I think? Something like that.
@@VaskoKaskono way I thought he was around 20-22 he looks young af
26 now
@@bessley6224 The story starts in 1989, and he's 16 (turning 17) at that point. I think the manga's about to enter the year 2000.
The Hajime no Ippo timeline is really confusing, since Morikawa himself kind of lost track of what year the story takes place in. That's why he covers up the last 2 digits when a date is given, like 01/11/20XX. But through the estimates of the Hajime no Ippo community, Ippo should be around his mid-20s.
is this match in the anime? I don't remember this trash talker and Ippo being cold like this
Am I the only one who thinks this punch is what got Ippo punch drunk? I know he had damage built up but I’m sure this punch was his last straw
Where can I feed the mango myself
This is the 1st time the monster came out
Why didn't he do that against sawamura?
Because sawamura would've easily countered ippo..
Havent been keeping up with the manga - is it still ongoing?
Yes
So ippo really is just Mike tyson but japanese
Didn’t the dude get some gloves signed by Ippo as a gift later?
No more Death stranding !
Which chapter is this??
MUSHISHI AND IPPO IN THE SAME VIDEO ???!
Yes
When will other episode come
you call out kojima not dodging but that entire exchange was literal seconds and kojima was sure ippo was going to fall , not to mention the dude probably put the little energy he did have from losing so much weight into that counter dude was already running on empty. everyone thought he was done for but ippo did the impossible and tanked a punch nobody probably shgould have in that situation.
What's the name of the song that starts at 2:25?
Don't insult Ippo's dad.
how about mashiba?
A fellow dying light player
what manga chapters is this
Bro wanted Ippo to do his best but his mistake was making Ippo angry. Ippo always does his best but in this fight Ippo fought with anger. Not only did he get the opposite of what he wanted he also lost Ippo's respect
Mr. Morikawa needs to take a creative writing class I think. I’ve been a fan for 15 years now but this is getting to be a chore at this point.
Dude talking trash about someones coach will always get you messed up in boxing
I do not by any means justify what Ippo did. It was rash, irresponsible and un professional.
Buuuuut he kinda had it comming.
Insult him all you want, but you made it personal man.
