Those athletes that u mentioned did their best at winning and also not winning just like all of our beloved athletes. What I meant by my statement is that at the time that Asafa ran for Jamaica he brought back life to the sport especially sprint because then we were slacking and in need of rivalry and that he did. Also pls not that at the time r hat he came on stream the great America dominated the sprints and ASAFA BROUGHT BACK LIFE TO SPRINT WORLD FOR JAMAICA AND WE LOVE AND APPRECIATE HIM A WHOLE LOT.

I am extremely happy and proud of Usain Bolt, he is now seen as the GOAT in male sprinting but I WILL always remember what Asafa Powell did for Jamaica's male sprinting!! We didn't know that a Jamaican born, raised, lived and TRAINED could have owned the world record in the Men's 100m. He broke the record twice and has the record for running the most sub 10 seconds. Asafa held the World record until another Jamaican broke it!! Asafa deserves some respect on his name!! Thank you Asafa Powell, Jamaica is proud of you. Usain Bolt once said that Asafa Powell inspired him to go after the World records, that is a separate accomplishment by Asafa, to inspire someone like Usain Bolt. Only it seems from side view in t middle phase, beginning n ending (as well as middle to greater degree) all Lewis.
In t middle you can see from side view a striving power thrust from his action as if 'he's trying' to constantly accelerate, bringing a 'slight movement' wth his trunk n head involved.
Wht Lewis showed tht t others ddnt quite get was how to hold t trunk in perfect form ... (streamline action, unified motion). Not overreach/ drive wth t arms or legs, but Just enough...cycled.
Chest high, head still, trunk slight forward tilt, high pelvis...(arms going back n forth, elbows bent, palms open, thumbs high)...driving...knee action, breathing pattern.
Forcing a higher pelvic thrust on t knee drive, reaching forward, even higher action, allowing more power development from t glutes, hamstrings, quads n calves, reacting uniformly wth t arms like pistons, generating incredible dynamic velocity, giving longer length per stride.
In effect shorten t distance, faster movement, quicker pace.
Slight extension through t knee, (once reached top end of knee drive) as in clawing forward... timed perfectly wth other movements (explained above) repeating cycle...
Finding t 'just enough' ratio, tied in unison to a breathing pattern (e.g.. swimmers, three strokes per breath) 4-5-6 strides per breath...
Once all of this is found, (there's no 'reaching' in how you run)...[thrust must come from t synchronised power drive/ between t arms n legs] giving a 'pounce' (spring) action.
Only ... it becomes a gliding motion because each stride is a pounce...
Like t show jumping horses whn they do tht synchronize time trotting, Where they seemingly float in t air.
Same action...(must b practiced) and all t drive n action is in t arms and legs working in unison (piston like) for maximum power, drive and velocity without giving t idea of striving for pace just a notion of gliding into pace on to t finish line.
By this it seemed as if he's not decelerating rather, re-accelerating or 'holding' maximum velocity n just whn he starts to decelerate he's crossing t finish line.
This is shown wth Usains world record run, Where he actually pulled up, but it looked as if he could've 'held' tht maximum top end thrust... he reached much earlier...(60-70-80mtr mark) to come in at a faster time, but as shown he was satisfied wth where he was in t race and ddnt need to hold tht velocity drive any longer then necessary to win tis race.
Our current World Record still! I rest my case!
Tis is all Asafa showed. Nothing new, just got to know wht your looking at. Il take tht as a thank you. I'm in Australia.

Imagine the fish they eat was swimming in the ocean half hour earlier, the beef, mutton, lamb etc was walking in the field just earlier that day.Cows eat grass, the mangoes. and other fruits are hand picked a few seconds before they are eaten, just pick, wash, eat.

@Error Report I'm not a Jamaican. I just think that A.Powell - impeccable technique from start to finish, great body position- was the best sprinter for 5 years - until 2008. Then (still to my opinion) he was only second to Bolt for the following 5 years. However that didn't really show at major championships. Still all credits to him for beating world records. I wouldn't go as far as saying that he 'made Bolt possible ' though.

Humans can only reach certain full speeed depending on each individual. And no human can maintain his full speed for more than 40-60KM. So to answer your question is all sprinters hit their full speed early so they maintain for certain distance and on the last part of the race they naturally decrease... Usain Bolt maintain his full speed little longer than others... in most races he is a slow starter but when he reaches his full speed he maintains while other are starting to decrease. Hope I managed to answer
