- In this tutorial we pour hot Monster Clay into a Gel-10 lifecast mold.
www.brickinthey...
This method will also work with a Genesis X or Accucast Alginate mold, but care must be taken to avoid overheating the clay as clay hotter than 200F will cause the alginate mold to distort.
Monster clay is really good stuff. Since Arnold reformulated it a few years back, it's even better. Good video Mitch, keep them coming.
Learnt so much from your channel, always clear and informative. Subbed!
your amazing and you guys ship orders incredibly fast!!
Thanks!
Be cool to see something like sideshow resin sculptures how you can build your own.
Good idea! I will see what I can do!
Absolutely brilliant video. Thanks a lot. This covers everything. Keep up the great work !!
If you pour in really hot water first would that warm the Gel-10 enough to help prevent freeze lines? or if you just keep the monster clay moving you'll be fine. That the dry time isn't really that sensitive.
Nevermind, that would be a bad idea, because you wouldn't be able to get all the water out.. and that would compromise the clay, correct? What if instead you you a heat gun, would that help prevent freeze lines?
Erik Brandt Water in the mold wouldn't hurt the clay, but it would create voids or bubbles on the final clay surface.
material costs??? ,,and what called moster clay in german? plasteline??
Worth noting that if freeze lines do occur (or other issues), unlike resin/hydrocal this could all be melted down to start again.
Not ideal but it's there as a failsafe.
True indeed.
I find it difficult to pour it in and have enough time for the hot clay to cover the entirety of the inside without hardening too quick.
Any idea how to get more work time to be able to get that initial coat covering more inside?
Warm the mold as well with a hair dryer or put it by a space heater before your clay pour. This is also best done as a 2 person job. Trying to both pour and slosh is a lot for one person.
@@brickintheyard yeah i agree it needs two people.I was pouring it and sloshing it.Not easy
Thanks for the great tutorial! I may have to try this soon. It sucks when you pour the melted clay all over your fingers. Being as uncoordinated as I am, I will definitely be wearing gloves!
Spilling hot clay on your hands reminds you that you are alive! Make sure you get a cheap crock pot dedicated to this purpose. Wives/girlfriends/mothers react with violence when crock pots are misused. I know this.
i just love these videos i may be brave enough to try one
What do you do with the monster cly head next ? does it get hard and durable or is it like water clay and needs to be fired ?
Monster Clay is a good clay for patterns to be molded and then cast in resin or some other material. The clay is somewhat pliable, even cool, so it would not make a good permanent cast.
Great video!
+ wonderful work you do!! great !
I love your work. :)
Thanks!
So great and smart!
how hard does the clay get?
belo trabalho
Could you do the same for a helmet
Yes, you could use it that way.
Do not waste water at 5:40; by the way Good luck and Thank u!!!
