    great video. those 660's are way easier to do the water pump on than most machines.

    The black seal you put in on the backside of the bearing the one where you say the letters face out towards you - when I put my new seal in it went below flush on that side and now the bearings won’t spin. I didn’t know what else to do so I kept going and when I got the shaft back in, it spun but kind of tight. Should it be tighter with the rebuild kit because of all new seals and stuff. I got the same kit you used and there was no markings on the bearing like there was on the stock one that said Japan on one side. The book says put writing facing down but the new bearing had no writing. How did you know what way to put it in or didn’t it matter? I’m taking a water pump out of another 660 to compare how freely it spins. So my questions are what about the lack of writing on the bearing and does it spin, but a little tighter than before. Thanks. And great vid

      Mine was a little tighter but not by much since my old bearing really didn't have that many miles on it, its definitely not an easy turn but its not hard per say. I took a gander at which way it faces since I don't have an oem to compare, I compared to what I took out since what I had was working before. Most oem stuff - from what I've noticed - if it doesn't have lettering that means its uni-directional or its obvious which way it goes. This case was a "it looks like it goes this way" 😂 but yes. My bearing was a little harder but it could still spin, might check it before you press it in and see if it easily rotates with your finger because it should

    Been watching a lot of your rebuild on the engine what manual are you using as I can’t find a decent one that’s shows you each step

    I took out the other one and it does spin easier than the rebuilt one. Think it’s possible to get out those seals without destroying them?

    • @Hunters_Mechanics
      @Hunters_Mechanics  2 года назад

      It would be a job for sure to attempt not to destroy them, I would go ahead and still replace the seals because they could still fail sooner than later and just cause you to rebuild it again anyways

      It's on the right side hidden under the front plastics under the handlebars, you can follow the top radiator hose which leads right to it

    Does it matter which way the seal behind that bearing goes because I put mine in opposite of yours

    • @Hunters_Mechanics
      @Hunters_Mechanics  2 года назад +1

      I think it does because of the taper that it has, when I was doing the video I tried researching it but didn't find anything on it so I stuck to the rule of "numbers face you/up"

      @@coolguydpc89 I've just had this one for years and shit kept breaking so I learned pretty fast how to fix it all lol eventually ill be getting a hot rods rebuild for the bottom end and a big bore (probably 686) like it used to have, the guy that owned it before me used to race it and beat this hell out of it and I suffered having to fix it all lol

    That mechanical seal was a bitch to get out! I pooped out the bearing first then stuck a socket in and banged the hell out of it and after awhile that seal came out. I can't believe how tight it was in there

      @@Hunters_Mechanicsgot mine back together. But my impeller shaft was hard to push in. I looked through the bearing hole and noticed a seal sticking out past the bearing where the shaft slides through. So I had to use a hammer to get it in. And after banging the shaft in I noticed it pushed out a small ring seal. It was the size and as thick like the c-clips.
      I don't know what to do now. Definitely ain't doing this again. Any idea? I used a moose rebuild kit

      @@Hunters_Mechanicsim just gonna buy a hot rods kit and do it all over again. Because the piece of seal that the shaft pushed out was part of the oil seal. I knew something was wrong when I couldn't push the shaft in by hand. Even was tough banging it in with a hammer. I think what happened was when I hammered in the oil seal I hammered it too much where it squished the oil seal
